With all of the Nigerian Bashing in this forum, I want to take the time to tell everyone that I love my NIGERIAN Husband. If I had the choice I would do it again. Like every marriage we have our ups and downs. We cherish our good times and WORK THROUGH the bad. NO marriage is without some sort of trouble, its how you handle the trouble that makes the difference. As many of you know I was married before and it was not by any means easy on me and almost cost me my life. I was given a second chance, and I told GOD that if I lived through that mess that it was because he meant for me to be here on this Earth. I took that bad experience and I turned my life around. I was at rock bottom and trying to climb back up when I met my NIGERIAN Husband. He knew that I was penniless he knew I had 3 kids, he knew that getting involved with me was not going to be easy for him, I was guarded. He was so kind an patient with me. I repeatedly asked GOD for signs that I was destined to be with this man. GOD would send me signs, and I would say, was that a sign? I need another just to make sure and I would get another. I prayed about this man daily, was this what I was suposed to do? Guide me Heavenly Father, please let me make no mistake, I have 3 children who rely on me with thier little lives. Guide me he did. When I did not know where the money would come from to go see my NIGERIAN Husband the first time, I prayed and GOD provided. That first trip was so wonderful neither one of us expected the deep conection that we had. We had been talking for months on the phone but that first meeting was so POWERFULL. When I had to leave it was very hard for both of us. Over a period of 2 years I went to see him 4 times, as much as I could afford. The last trip was for his interview. I took the time to get to know this man who woulld come to be my Husband. Since he has been here we have had some troubles but we love each other so we take the time to work through it. I am not afraid to tell the world that I love my NIGERIAN Husband!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hope that everyone here can proudly stand up beside thier NIGERIAN Spouses. NIGERIANS often are LABELED as scammers because of some bad examples. Think about the bad seeds in all cultures, scams do not just come out of NIGERIA there are lots of other countries inculding our own. Before you point a finger at someone else remember there are four more pointing back at you.

Amen!!!

my fiance met a girl at the medical office and she had her interview today.. seems she got a 221g, they asked her for the receipt of the engagement party.. so now my fiance is stressed out.. delhi is very strict... now we are all stressed...

Don't be stressed....just gather any other evidences you had and bring them all during your interview. I brought two big photo albums during mine and other evidences as well we deemed important to show a genuine relationship even if it is not listed as requirements.....during the interview the consul asked me what's in my big bags (two big bags) I just simply told him photo albums and other evidences .....the consul just smiled and said that must be heavy...and I got approved...he did not asked me so many questions either, only one or two and that's it!

You can do it! Believe in your Love! heart.gif Good luck!

Hi Northstar492006,

We stayed at Cherry Blossoms Hotel both for my medical (July 2007) and interview (August 2007). It is 5 minutes walk to St. Lukes and 10 minutes walk to the US Embassy. It is also a few steps to the Robinson's mall. So no worries if you need to get groceries, a place to eat (restaurants and fast foods), and shopping. And it is cheaper too, room rates range from 1515, 1950 and up. Breakfast is included, 2 single beds (twin beds) or 1 queen/king size bed in a room. Room is for single/double occupancy.

Hope this helps. :luv:

Hey buddy I am not going back to the states yet, my wife is getting her visa this week but I am not going back until I finish my work here, And then I gotta go back again during October and November to work here again. I am lucky and successful enough to be able to travel to Asia and work in Vietnam and Thailand. It's manageable if you have a spouse here with you. Quit being disgruntle on here cause you can't get your $hit straight. You obviously made this name to troll on people's thread and insult people. Your being a coward and hiding behind some fake screen name you just made up.

I understand your feelings, i have had the same feelings about my fiancee in philippines. the thing i worry about the most is that i could not make a decent living there. and also if we decided to come to the states, how would i show any income of support.

I love the philippines, would love to live there. i think the biggest prob is income. and if you could meet the poverty guidelines after living there in VN. good luck

If I recall, the Nija residence is the same as the visa sticker but with indefinite validity if you are married to a Nigerian.Since your visa is valid for entry you can travel on it but the immigration will be concerned on how long you plan staying and he might ask for your return itinary. If it is true your hubby acquire one for you already he can meet you at the airport and support your case if there is a problem.Just pray you meet somebody who is in good mood and he won't even look further but stamp your passport and welcome you into Nija.Safe trip to Africa my beloved country

My husband does have it and has scanned it and emailed it to me so I could take a printed copy along with me. He would definitely have it at the airport waiting for me. What he has is a card like a credit card or drivers license type of card and it expires October of 2013. Immigration told him it was the same as having a visa. Once I arrive in Nigeria, we will travel to Abuja to have my indefinite nigerwife sticker added to my passport so I am not concerned having any troubles leaving, but I am a little nervous about having problems coming in. I hate to pay for a visa when I really do not need one. Our case should be completed at NVC any day now, so we are praying for a November interview date and praying he will be coming back with me. It has been a long journey. Thank you. I can't wait to get back Nigeria to see my family. I miss them all so much.

Why not have your husband mail it to you if you are concerned?

If it is necessary I can try to have him mail it, however, when he was applying for my nigerwife status last year, immigration wanted my passport so I mailed it to him. When he tried to mail it back to me it was confiscated by customs and he was told it was illegal to mail passports out of Nigeria. Also the cost is high.

I am planning a trip to Nigeria in November. My visa expires 11-25-12. I will be arriving on the 13th and leaving on the 28th. I have a residence permit valid through October 2013, but my husband has it with him in Nigeria. I will be arriving before my visa expires, but my return flight will be set for after my visa expires on the 25th. I know once I get there and have my residence permit in hand I will be fine, but I am concerned I might run into problems going in since my visa will expire before my departure date and I will not have my residence permit in hand until I get there. I will also get my Niger wife certification/visa (not sure correct terminology) placed in my passport once I arrive. Does anyone have any experience with this? I have not contacted the Nigerian embassy on this yet, because my past experience has been unable to get any type of response from them. Thanks for any information on this.

My company has a letter we access through their intranet system and print it out where we view our pay stubs and tax info. We do not even have access to an HR dept, but if your company isn't that large the HR mgr should be able to advise you. Employees request these regularly for common things such as loan applications. They have to have some type of system in place to address this. When you call again, maybe asking to speak to a supervisor would help. Best wishes.

Thanks so much

Congratulations on your NOA2! There are some helpful guides posted on this website up at the top under guides. You can also view others timelines from the country/embassy you are interviewing out of. My visa is an IR-1 visa so my time frames would not necessarily apply to your experience, but I am sure others will post with helpful experience to share. Best wishes for a smooth and quick journey to approval of visa.

If you can go into the email acct where your profile or personal information is stored you can hit "print screen" on your pc and it will copy the picture of your screen showing your personal information tied to that username. For example, I have my email accts set to send me a text when anything like a password is changed on my accts or to recover forgotten password. So on my page where you edit security options my cell number is listed. Some profile pages show your name, city, bday, etc.

If you dont have residency in Dakar, you will have to file in Nigeria. You will have to file a marriage visa, not the k1 if you get married.

It is the US citizen that has to file the petition for you. It is her legal residency that dictates where she must file from. If she does not have residency in Dakar, she can't file from there. Some countries, like Nigeria you cannot file from even if you have residency established there. I married in Nigeria and had to wait until my return to the US to file the I-130. K-1/K-3 and CR-1/IR-1 visa cannot be applied for in Nigeria and must originate from USA ( assuming USC is residing in USA). I think it is the IR-1 you will apply for since you would have been married less than 2 yrs, but it is the same form which is the I-130. All of the forms can be printed from the website Reese1 linked above. I would recommend doing some research here on VJ and the USCIS website, so that you can gather documents and evidence of Bona Fide relationship while USC is there to bring back with her. It will save you time and money mailing documents. There will be forms like the G-325 that you will need to fill out and sign because the original form with original signature has to be submitted with the I-130. Do your homework and it will speed up the process and help you avoid RFEs later on and make your interview process easier. Read up on VJ about front loading your petition. I didn't know about VJ when I applied and ended up with an RFE, but by then had found VJ and was able to front load my petition during the RFE process. God bless.

Africa: Sub-SaharanUSPS To Nigeria
I send all packages through USPS Express mail. You can pay more for 3 to 5 day delivery, or you can choose 6 to 10 day delivery for less. You can then track it, however, once it leaves NY, you will not find anymore info on it when you track it online, but if you call USPS, they can make a tracking inquiry. Nigeria will tell USPS which post office the package is at within a day or so. I have only had trouble with 1 package, and Nigeria kept telling USPS that the package was at a particular post office, and my husband would go there to claim it and they would tell him it wasn't there. After 3 different tries at 3 different post offices, I requested my package be returned to me, and it was back here in the states very quickly, within a few days if I recall correctly. It was very irritating, that they couldn't find where it was accurately for my husband to pick it up, but they had no problem locating it to return to me in record time! :bonk: But at least I got everything back. . I am sure the error was at the post office in Nigeria where he went to collect it.

Thank all of you for your spoken blessings. This has been a long, hard journey, but as with every journey God leads us on, we grow, we become better on the potter's wheel, and we move on to the next journey God has planned for us. There are no words to describe how my husband and I feel about being able to finally move on into the next journey as one heart living together, and hopefully bring glory to God. While the time apart was painful and unwanted, we spent the time with God's grace gaining wisdom about the intricacies of a culturally blended relationship. We are more than anxious to begin the next chapter of our lives, humbly give God all of the glory for all the wonderful things He has brought into our lives.

How do you get a police report when you do a I-130. What letter do you give the police so they will do it ?

show them your NOA2. Some will use NOA1 but we waited and didn't lose any time due to it.

My Fiance is going for her Police Check this week, but I have the original NOA2 in the states with me, I made a copy of the NOA2 for her, but she also has the Cover Letter from Packet #3

I hope that will good enough for her?

Fiance went for the Police Check, NOA2 in Hand, Cover Page for Packet #3, Passport photo of Petitioner & still unable to get Police Certificate!!!

Now I have to submit another Picture of myself (Passport Photo) & handwrite underneath, basically letter of intent to Marry her. Unbelievable!!!!!

On the Bright side, she did her her Medical done & there was no issues!!!

I just got off the Phone with her & she had to pay 5000 Baht for her Police Certificate, when she was 20 years old, she got in a little trouble (Playing Casino) That's how she describes it, she had to pay a fine 1000 baht 12 years ago, for this incident.

She picks up her Police Report on Monday @ 11:00 am I was initially Pissed Off, for them taking advantage of her, I'm glad I wasn't there, I probably would have exploded, I'm so sick & tired of the U.S. Government controling my life & the Thai Government, everyone has there Hand Out$$ for something!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

At least we don't have to rely on the Thai mail now?

The Stress Level is at an all time High Right Now!!!

Seriously? 5k baht? Doubt that.

I have no reason to lie about this, my Thai Fiance really doesn't know a whole lot about the paperwork & footwork that's involved in the process, so I enlisted help from an Agency & believe you me, I gave her a mouthfull of crticism, she sent one of her Staff, to acompany my Fiance to both the Physical & Police Station. I told her, why would she let my Fiance pay 5000 Baht to those "Crooked Bastards"

I'm not a happy person right now, initially the Physical examination was only 5900 Baht & I was only exspecting to pay 200 Baht for the Police Certification, I wired her 15,000 Baht for this process, So I was ecstatic about having about 8000 to 9000 Baht left over, for further exspenses down the road.

Like I stated, the only good thing is, she'll recieve her Certificate in 3 Days & not have to wait for it by Thai Mail?

I think it's only good for 6 months. Our process took a year so we waited for the third packet and ordered the police about the same time.

just do whatever you can do. they won't put you in jail for trying (make sure you're not there when she orders it....the farang effect, you know....

So we went yesterday(we live in Chanthaburi, so planned just a day trip to bkk) and the embassy had about half the visas ready and the other half, my wife's included, weren't ready because they said the printer was down. Now I don't know the specifics on how they make their visas, but the thing that really pissed me off was they didn't call/email people to tell them it would be delayed. Kinda sucks for people like me who don't live in Bkk and have to make the trip up there. Anyway, they said they'll call in a couple days, so I'm hoping ours will be ready by the 28th as well, but hopefully they have it straighted out and noone else will be screwed. QUOTE (cdrrck24 @ Aug 31 2009, 04:17 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Embassy in Bangkok said the visa is not ready yet and they will call my fiance tomorrow to pick it up. Anyone experience a problem like this? He said he does not think there are any problems with it but we are pretty freaked out.

Rick

It happened to my Fiancee last week , she was scheduled to receive the Visa on August 28th at 3:00 p.m. (Friday) They called her on August 27th & said they had problems with there computer & they would call her back, when they get everything back on Line.

We expected to have to wait thru the weekend in Bangkok & possibly, she would get a call on Monday (August 31st) But they called her at 12:00 p.m. on Friday & said her Visa was ready, so she received her Visa on time & is now back home, until I come to get her this month.

So, don't freak Out!! As long as she passed her interview, your fine!!

Well I'm just 10 days away from visting Thailand for a week or so & bringing my Thai Fiancee home!!

I don't want there to be any suprises, when I arrive at the Airport, so what is expected at the Airport in Bangkok & P.O.E. in Chicago when we arrive?

1. Thai Passport & K-1 American Visa naturally
2. Brown envelope, in which the Immigration Officer will need.

What else? Any help, would be greatly appreciated!!

Ok, I guess we need to fill out an I-94 Form, on plane, before landing in Chicago, is that correct?

Deanna,

He can defer his military based on your marriage (the conditions of his visa) and not employment. You need to first register your marriage with the Turkish embassy that has jurisdiction over the state where you got married, then his military can be deferred. This is what we did. I think people at the embassy are unfamiliar with the K1/K3 visas and you may need to talk to different people at the embassy before you find someone who truly understands your situation. I know this can be frustrating but keep calling them until you find someone who knows what they're talking about...

Thanks for your info! We got married in Turkey. Do we still need to register with the embassy?? If so, how? The old man (Consulate General in Chicago) told Ramazan that it didn't matter about his marriage and his visa...that he must work for them to defer his military. I say that is BS, but he is the only person they put us through to. And, the guy refuses to talk to me.

This is what infuriates me: In October, we paid $145 online to renew the passport for 4-5 years. After that, we learned that we needed to submit proof that he filed for AOS. So, once we received the USCIS receipt, we sent his passport again, but since they raised their fee to $165, we sent an additional $20. Then, we got into this issue of the Consulate General telling him he must work....blah blah. So, he said he will extend it for 6 months, but we need to send in $34. Why the h*** can't they just take the $34 from the flipping $165 they already have?!?!?!! We must send a petition for them to refund that money. You are kidding me. So, my husband won't argue with the old man, and the old man WILL NOT talk to me.

We live in Indiana, so I figured the Chicago Consulate was the logical choice, but would we be better off getting his passport back and trying a different consulate?? This is ridiculous! I am so frustrated.

I've dealt with the embassy in Washington DC, but not for something like this. It was about the work visa for one of my summer employees...They were not very friendly, but the employee was in jail at the time and they did not think our company was doing enough to help this person. Not much we can do when no bail bondsman will agree to take the case... anyway, you could try to contact the Embassy. They were easy to reach, though my experience with them was not that great.

This just doesn't sound right? Hoping someone will chime in with some information.

Well, after posting this, I found out I misunderstood my husband's email! :) He was trying to tell me that they will extend it for 6 months while we wait for his EAD. That is not how my husband said it (still dealing with language barrier at times!). Whatever the case, talking to the Consulate is much like talking to Immigration: talking to a brick wall....which is also eerily similar to talking to my husband at times.... On a bright note, I did just see online that his EAD card has been ordered...time to get a job!!!

Hi everyone! It's been awhile since I've posted. Ramazan came here in June and things have been going well, with the expected bumps along the way. We've applied for AOS and are still waiting. Anyway, here is our latest issue:

His passport expires in March. We sent it to the Turkish consulate in Chicago for renewal. The problem is his military deferrment expired in October. The consulate general told my husband that he must provide the Employment Authorization (of which we are still waiting to receive) and that he must start working, but they'll give my husband 6 more months to get a job. If he is here in the U.S legally, why does it matter that he has a job in order to renew his passport??? He came on a spouse visa, not a work visa. He is legally living here and is adjusting status (we provided the USCIS AOS and EAD recipts), so why must he show that he is working in order to defer military again?! So, if he gets is EAD, but can't find employment until after 7 months (you never know with the job situations here right now), they'll flat out refuse to renew his passport?!

Yes, we are kicking ourselves for not renewing BEFORE he came.....:)

Anyone ever have to deal with one of the Turkish consulates here in the States?

Hey everyone! Just a quick update: Ramazan's interview last Wednesday went extremely well (except for one brief tax-return scare). He should be getting his passport/visa any day now.....he is packed and ready, so within a few days, he will be coming (assuming the plane tickets we have our eyes on don't disappear).

Hope everyone is doing well!
