K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresINTERVIEW TOMORROW! HELP!!
I am so worried about Jaser's interview scheduled for 7:30 tomorrow morning. He went to pay the visa fee today at the Cairo Bank and all computers were down. The man at the bank told him to come back at 8:30 am tomorrow. 1 hour after when he is suppose to be at his interview!!

HAS ANYONE HAD THIS PROBLEM??? WILL THEY LET HIM GO TO THE BANK AND COME BACK???? OR WILL THEY NOT INTERVIEW HIM? I HOPE THEY WILL SCHEDULE HIM FOR LATER THAT DAY SINCE THE PROBLEM WAS THE BANK AND NOT HIS MISTAKE.

PLEASE HELP CALM MY NERVES!!

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresInterview in Amman
Hello everyone,

It's been a roller coaster ride. We were so excited about Jaser's interview. It didn't quite turn out as good as we had hoped. I am not sure how to analyze the end result.

Jaser was the first person at the embassy with all the documentation. Phone bill from my mobile, western union wire transfer receipts, 700 pics of us together in Jordan. IRS transcripts with his name on most recent tax return. Beneficiary of my 401K, and life insurance. Receipt of our rent for the 8 months I lived in Jordan with him. No emails because my computer crashed and I lost all the archives to be able to print them.

I am on my mothers family cell plan. She refused to look at the bills because they were not in my name. He explained that there are 6 phones on the plan and my phone is the only one that has international calling. I actually highlighted every call made to his #. You can imagine- 6 phones- 12 months of detailed bills- each were 40+ pages. She refused to accept it even though there were obvious calls made to his mobile number from the number I listed as my phone number on ALL paperwork.

She didn't want to see any of the docs. All she was focusing on was the fact that I hadn't been back in 13 months. Jaser explained that I had been in an bad car accident and unable to travel. Also due to the wreck I had exhausted all my vacation days to cover the month I was unable to go to work. She told him she believed him but needed something from my doctor stating it was true. He had the newspaper article of my car upside down and the cover story stating "WOMAN AIR LIFTED TO HOSPITAL AFTER ROLL OVER ACCIDENT". She would not even look at the article.

He also told her the reason I returned to the US was to start the visa process. The law had changed while I was living in Jordan and the US citizen could not file from another country. He also told her that when the law changed back I had already started a new job and financially was not able to go back to Jordan. We did not think it would take 13 months to get an interview. She didn't listen.

He got a 221g request stating additional info needed to proceed with visa process. They asked for 1. a notarized letter from spouse stating desire to continue the marriage. 2. Proof of ongoing relationship.
The letter he received stated to forward all the requested documents along with that letter and his passport to the embassy.

Needless to say it only took me 2 days to have the paperwork to him by express mail. He mailed it back to them along with his passport 6 days after the interview.

I sent a notarized letter stating all the above and also that I had no intention of ever ending my marriage. I stated I am deeply in love with Jaser and committed to our love and marriage. I also stated that no matter how long it took to complete this process I would be waiting to be reunited with him to start our life and family.

I also sent a letter from my doctor stating he advised me not to travel due to my injuries endured as a result of the accident. He also stated I am currently under his care and would not reccommend me traveling for at least 6 more months. I had my mom write a letter that stated yes the phone bills were in her name but the # with the international calls are my calls and I pay the bill each month. She stated in the letter that it is cheaper for all of the additional phones to be added instead of having individual plans.

My boss wrote a letter stating that due to the 30 days off in January from the accident I had exhausted all vacation, personal and sick days. She attached the vacation policy from our handbook as proof.

I hope that was enough to prove why I have not been back.

IS it a good sign that they wanted his passport with the paperwork??

Thanks for letting me vent! I hope we know something soon!

Hello everyone!
My petition for Alien fiance was approved on September 1st. It is now 4 weeks later and the National Visa Center has not received my file\case yet. I was told to call USCIS and inquire, so I did. I was told that I just had to wait. Ok then. Is anyone else having this problem too??

Looks like a big batch may have just been sent - fingers crossed we are all in it!

I would just keep calling the NVC daily because one of these days you're gonna hear "This case has been forwarded to the Consulate" then you will wonder why didn't they tell me it had arrived and that my friend I cannot answer.

Thanks Sarah, You have been such a great help to me.

[size=3]Dear Vonnie,
First let me tell you I thought it was backwards to but that is the payment for the visa and the interview in whatever country they are in promise. I am done with my process and finally my husband is going to be coming home soon, when I say we just got done I mean yesterday we got the call from the embassy and today he took his passport and Insha'Allah that we will get his passport back tomorrow. So the best advice I can give is to pay it and pay it quickly the faster you move the faster they will move to because it's going to go pretty quick from here on in at least it did for us. God willing it will for you too.

Oh wow, where are you from? I think you have to go meet your fiance at least, otherwise, Immigrations will thinks it's fraud. How did you meet her? Online? Or are you from there? IF so, did your family put you guys together? Just curious. How long have you been in the U.S.? As far as the I864 or I134 co sponsor, you can have any co sponsor you want as long as they at least offer to support your fiance incase you can't for the next ten years . And of course, you have 90 days to marry her here. But if you are filing for a K3, I'm sure you would have filed the I130, right? Otherwise, it would be the I129F same as K3 application, but for fiance. Does this help you?

hi i meet my fiance before and i wana go get marrued over there but my quastion is when i go to the empassy i have to have the sponsor papers with me right? and i dont make enough money to soport her so my friend will do it for me

My husband is from Albania and he did his visa interview in Tirana. They asked a good deal of questions but I wouldn't say that it was super hard. I have a detailed review in the embassy reviews section (I think I am listed as Susie on there). Just be prepared and study all of the information you have submitted to them, because they will most likely question you on it. Good luck!

thank you very much for your response:) we are trying to get prepared we are still waiting for the noa 2 but better safe than sorry and he got his paperwork around for me for the NVC stage...

In the Bosnia thread (last page) I posted a link to a website where a former consular officer shared his thoughts on family immigration visas - he did serve in Macedonia and not Albania but he mentioned a case of an Albanian man. The whole thing was an interesting read as we don't know what consular officers can decide in any case.

best of luck to you two on this long journey!

Hi

I am a new Member here. I can become a citizen and apply my wife without any lawers because Visajourney help me a lot! I sent my I-130 in Apirl 11 and I already received my NOA2 yesterday.

Question is what should I exactly do after I am going to call them and get the INN number. Should I send them AOS or something else to NVC through Email? ( I heard some members do this from Email?)

I am feeling nervous because I am close to the final step. Normally I just browse what people post and find the similar problem. This time, I registered! I asked by myself! Please point me out what to do. Sorry for my poor english. Hope you guys understand. Thank you

Thanks for the update Rob!

Here are some pics of our folder that Anna will take with her to the interview. Hopefully it will give some an idea.
I know I spent some time on collecting these docs and wanted to make them presentable to the interviewer so that he does not have to look for the documentation.
From what I hear, if your docs are there and in order, the interview goes much smoother.
You have to understand that these folks do this daily, so it would be nice to put something together and in a particular order.

Of course the way I did it is not a "recommended" way by the embassy, I have no idea what is, and you do not have to do it this way, however it gives you an idea.
Good luck in putting yours together.

T.

Kiev people, here is Tania's report of the medical review in Kiev. Since it's machine translated, it reads poorly. I can send the original Russian if anyone requests.

I have successful experience of medical interview and interview in embassy. I shall tell a little about medical interview. I have entered the name on interview by phone and serving to me very politely and in detail all have explained. Interviews pass with 9 till 12-00, but it is not obligatory to come very much early! Be not afraid of a plenty of people! Everyone who are written down for the certain day, this day will pass interview! I have arrived to 10 mornings and have gone to registry with the passport, file number and photos. To me have given out a package on which the sequence of visiting of cabinets has been written. First - photoroentgenography, then analyses of blood from a vein, the general survey (the oculist, weighing). Survey of the gynecologist is not presentPosted Image (it for those who is afraid of a gynecologic armchair). Then in cash department you pay 100 $. I passed interview in June and payment was 75 $. But since July, 2nd payment has increased up to 100 $!!! Take with itself little bit more, than 100 $! Finishing item - the therapist. You will ask about the last traumas, operations, illnesses, inoculations. The doctor will tell at once result of photoroentgenography and once again will examine you. Do not worry, answer easy all questions. All employees are benevolent. After the termination of survey, you expect reception of results up to 3pm . In day when I passed interview, results gave out with 2pm . Results give in the sealed package with a press of medical institution. In such kind you bring a package on interview in embassy. I wish all of good luck!

Eric,

Sveta put everything in the order going right down item by item using the KEV-1 list. She used plastic protector sleeves and a small three ring type binder..... Tell Lena to be ####### about the documents....(much like you were with your petition assembly)....

I did things the same way for Tania. It was similar to a small report for a boss or professor. The checklist was the title page. Each required set of documents had that entry as it's own title page in a plastic sleeve. Then that sleeve's cover page listed individual docs such as notarized I-134, bank and income statements, so on.

I talked to Anna this morning, she had spoke to Tania and received a lot of good info. But the best thing it actually calmed her fears of the actual interview. Basically at the interview the Embassy employee focuses more on the Documents then on asking any questions, they go through all documents so the tip to you folks, is have your documents, and have them in order.

Anna found that she did not have one document and she ran around today in Mariupol looking for it. When she did find the place that gives this document they told her it would take her 3 weeks to receive. Not enough time as her interview is July 16 and she is going to Kyiv on July 10.

Document - Certified letter stating she is free of marriage.

Regards,
T

Since Tania is divorced, she had marriage/divorce documents translated and certified with her. I don't know if she had a "free of marriage" document with her for the interview, or ever had this. I believe the Kiev embassy's list of documents required from the fiancee(fiance too) is complete. If a document is not listed, it is not needed. Conversely, if the embassy has requested a document, it must be brought.

There is plenty of bad advice given out, especially from offices outside of Kiev.

Maybe the translation is awkward, but I think the general "gist" of her thoughts come through loud and clear.... I think it was her experience as well as my SO's experience, that as long as you have your documentation complete and orderly, the Kyiv consulate experience is simple and uneventful.

You are 100% correct that the Kiev embassy experience is rather uneventful if the documents are all ready. I'm expecting Tania to write a similar review of the medical exam.

Other than the personal contact information why not post the med and interview procedures openly here in the forum for the benefit of others....

Although Tania speaks English better than average for Ukrainian fiancees and we converse well, her writing in English is slow. She still uses a translator for written communication. Because the list of documents needed and other technical issues are well known, I asked Tania to write something different about her opinion of the procedure. This includes nervousness, crowds, helpfullness of the staff, so on. I don't think it translated well using computer translators, this is why I have not posted it. Here it is:

Long-awaited day of interview has come! When I have come to embassy, I have seen a plenty of people. I have joined general expectation. As do not try to persuade itself to be assured and quiet, this general excitement is transferred! But all occurs very much organized and is duly. Very pleasantly benevolent attitude of employees of consulate. Anybody does not have purpose to give you refusal! The employee has set some simple questions: " Name of your groom "; Where you have got acquainted ". After procedure of acceptance of documents is finished, we expect the answer. Someone from girls feels more confidently, someone is less. To unload conditions, pending the answer, I begin acquaintance and conversation to other girls. It helps to fill a waiting time and also it is interesting to learn histories of happy acquaintances. After some expectation, the consul causes. I receive a paper about approval of the visa and I can not believe, that all excitements already behind! I have arrived on interview with the girlfriend who expected me outside of consulate. She has told, that it is very interesting to observe of people who leave consulate. Each answer "is written" on the person. The extinct sight, or a smile speak more than many words. My happy smile also was the answerPosted Image

Ok I used the PIN service again to ask them some questions, They first almost gave me a heart attack when they told me that my fiancee did not have an interview date set. I was like your crazy, he asked me for the confirmation number but I did not have it handy.(it was on my laptop) But I remember the date and time and he looked it up that way. He then confirmed the date/time and gave me the confirmation number again.
I was not going to argue with him on why he told me no.

Anyways, I asked him about the Visa and he stated 10 days, and it would be shipped via Fedex. They do not offer any other services.
He also stated that they could choose another address if they wanted. Basically once approved its approved they could care less where they sent it.
However you can not pick it up at the embassy, so it does have to go via Fedex.

Finally convinced Anna to tell me if she wants me at the interview or to accompany her to the USA. She told me that she wants me to fly with her. (thank god). So I will be rescheduling my flight as well as hers for the first week of August.
Now I have to wait 1 month to see her again. Damn!

Anyways Skymas, Anna was asking me about the Medical exam as well, she is asking how much blood they are taking etc.. lol
I told her I did not know, so if you can kindly ask Ski about the Medical exam, and any tips too, like arrive early go to this door blah blah blah.
Same with getting to the Embassy. Sorry for all the questions, but I just want to make it as easy as possible for Anna, and nothing beats experience.
Regards,
T

Thanks George, would also like to know the day she gets that Visa to see if it is way before those 10 days.
Also, can you ask Ski about the process in getting the actual visa? Meaning from paying for it, to giving an address to them to mail it etc... Just curious if they have different options or just one option.
Like could they pick it up at the embassy or have it mailed it to a friend or pay higher fees to get it quicker etc..
Regards,
T

T,

Will do. But I'm 90% sure that the visa/passport ==>must<== be sent by FedEx courier to the beneficiary's address on file. I don't believe this just SOP(standard operating procedure), I think it is regulation. It's a method for final confirmation of the beneficiary's address, so there are no other options. But, I've been wrong before.

Also, I think fwaguy is most likely correct they're printed in batches once a week. I think he mentioned Monday. Since Tania lives in Kiev and today is Tuesday, I would bet she gets it next Tuesday or Wednesday. Of course, I'll report each step here.

So far I am still going, and maybe stay a few extra days, gonna cost me on change of flight cost though.

Hi All,

Ski had her interview this morning at 9:30 Kiev time, and SMS'd me "APPROVED" at the conclusion. I just now got off the phone with her when she gave me an indepth description. The personnel said she would have her international passport returned to her with the K-1 visa in ten days or less. Ski gave an overall good report about the process.

Because I know there are several Ukrainian/Russian women that read this thread and site, I asked her to write about her experience in Russian. I decided to keep the untranslated Russian because so much is lost after translation.

She said I'd have it by tomorrow morning, my time. I'll run it through a translator and post the English version here.

I don't know if you've rode the trains in Ukraine yet. I won't give away the funny things about it. But it's something to experience! Unless you're going 1st class on the train, throw the thought of an Amtrak out the window! You'll laugh when you see how the toilets flush in coach!

I rode busses and overnight trains all over Ukraine, they're quite an experience. I took a premium/first class cabin only once. All other times I'd have a cabin with four berths, and shared with stangers. I have a few interesting stories.

I was under the impression that the embassy used DHL to deliver the Visa to your door. If that is the case it should arrive to Mariupol in around the same time as Kyiv? Within a day I am assuming.
Or are you saying they ship the Visa via regular mail?

Passports with the visa stamp from the Kiev embassy are delivered to the beneficiary's address via courier, FedEx I believe. DHL is used from the NVC to the embassies.

I did state this method of fast "Train Mail" delivery does not help visa delivery from the embassy.

Also, the embassy takes time to get their work out of the building and to the postal system or to a courier. "Ski" told me she just received packet 3 from the embassy. It was dated June 8 in the cover letter. This is when the embassy SAID her packet 3 was sent. LOL! The post-mark from the post office was June 20, it took almost two weeks for the embassy to drop packet 3 off to the post office! LOL!

I did not realize that the Visa took that long from approval to on hand delivery. I was hoping to go in on Monday for the approval and fly out by Saturday. Staying in Kyiv is costing us around $70 a night just for the apartment. I spoke with Anna about the timeframe and she made a great suggestion.
After the interview on Monday we take a train back to Mariupol, gives me a chance to see Ukraine from the train. LOL But this will also save us approx. $550 USD by staying at her place while waiting for the Visa.
I will have to call Delta and see what the charges are for changing the flight once I have a good date.
Regards,
T.

Mail delivery outside of Kiev is slow and occasionally does not arrive. I lived in Kiev for almost two years, and had contact with several Americans. Often, men in America would send me mail and packets to cities outside of Kiev. I'd go to the main train station and give the mail packet to a passenger with a promise of 20 or 30 griven (or so) on delivery to the recipient's city's train station. I'm leaving a few details out, but it was VERY easy and VERY fast! This method of sending mail is quite common in Ukraine.

This does not help passport/visa delivery from the embassy, I know.

I often flew Northwest/KLM to Chicago or Detroit. Twice I had to adjust departure or arrival dates of rock-bottom priced non-refundable economy coach tickets. The fee was a flat $200.

Wow, I like the sound of this system alot better than what it used to be... Good luck on the interview, are you going to be there?

Not for the interview, I've heard it's simple. The Kiev embassy can be a stickler for paperwork brought to the interview, though.

George

I was there and it went very well. The woman that went through the paperwork is a Ukrainian and seemed to know what she wanted to see. That took about 10 minutes of actually looking at what we had with us (we were both at the window for this). I then walked off to the restroom and they called her up for her interview, an hour early and out of order. When I got back other people that were waiting told me that she had been called and that she was behind these partitions. I sat down where I could listen. The guy that was conducting the interview was American and was very nice. He was patient and friendly. The questions were simple and he put her at ease, he could tell that she was very nervous. It helped that she opted to do the interview in English. The interview was about 5-10 minutes although it seemed like 2 hours! We were done and leaving before our actual appointment time. All in all it was a great experience, if you can, you should try to be there.

It would be nice to have the free time.

Wow, I like the sound of this system alot better than what it used to be... Good luck on the interview, are you going to be there?

Not for the interview, I've heard it's simple. The Kiev embassy can be a stickler for paperwork brought to the interview, though.

George, What day did you actually call for the interview?

I called Memorial Day evening/night about 2:00 AM EST from Michigan. That would make it 9:00 AM Tuesday morning in Kiev, the day after Memorial Day, May 29. I gave him the KEV number I received from NVC in N.H Friday the 25th. He asked if all was completed from the KEV-1 checklist, and I assured him it was.

He asked when I wanted the interview. I said the earliest possible date, so he set it up for the morning of July 3. He gave me a confirmation number, a specific time, and said my fiancee should appear 15 minutes early.

As I noted earlier, he wanted the English spelling of my fiancee's name from her international passport. So I called back that evening to give the correct spelling, and had to pay another $12. :(

All in all, the procedure was quick, efficient, courteous, and painless!

My fiancee used it today. She said it was so much easier than before. She highly recommends it. It's worth spending the $12. Unfortunately, our case hasn't been received at the consulate yet. They told her to call back next week. Thanks for giving me, and everyone else, more info about this. ;)

I used the service to purchase a PIN since my fiancee works in NW Kiev nowhere near a ProCredit bank. I would get the PIN, then Ski would then call to schedule an interview. But it would have taken her a 1/2 day off work to go to SE Kiev to go to the bank. I got the PIN by an 800-number phone call and emailed her the PIN, but she could not get it to work. Later that night, I called the service and they used the PIN to set up an appointment for July 3.

When I called the scheduling service, I knew I needed a copy of her passport to set the appointment. I made an error, and thought her national passport was what they needed. The very helpful assistant said I "MUST HAVE THE CORRECT ENGLISH SPELLING OF HER NAME FROM HER INTERNATIONAL PASSPORT." He set the appointment up, but ordered me to call back once I had a copy of her international passport in front of me. I paid another $12 for another PIN to make the call, all went well. Now we wait 2-1/2 weeks for the interview.

Hi,

You are the first I've seen from Portugal. There are quite a few Brazilians here.

Welcome and good luck with your visa journey.

My fiance was approved today in Lagos for the Visa. They told him to come back in a week to get it. I can finally breathe a sigh of relief. I haven't gotten all the details yet becuz he just briefly told me as soon as he left the embassy. When he gets home I will get all the details of what happened. I hope this gives a light of hope to all of you waiting for this day to come. IT DOES FINALLY HAPPEN!!!!!!!!! Thanks for all your blessings. kicking.gif kicking.gif kicking.gif

With all of the Nigerian Bashing in this forum, I want to take the time to tell everyone that I love my NIGERIAN Husband. If I had the choice I would do it again. Like every marriage we have our ups and downs. We cherish our good times and WORK THROUGH the bad. NO marriage is without some sort of trouble, its how you handle the trouble that makes the difference. As many of you know I was married before and it was not by any means easy on me and almost cost me my life. I was given a second chance, and I told GOD that if I lived through that mess that it was because he meant for me to be here on this Earth. I took that bad experience and I turned my life around. I was at rock bottom and trying to climb back up when I met my NIGERIAN Husband. He knew that I was penniless he knew I had 3 kids, he knew that getting involved with me was not going to be easy for him, I was guarded. He was so kind an patient with me. I repeatedly asked GOD for signs that I was destined to be with this man. GOD would send me signs, and I would say, was that a sign? I need another just to make sure and I would get another. I prayed about this man daily, was this what I was suposed to do? Guide me Heavenly Father, please let me make no mistake, I have 3 children who rely on me with thier little lives. Guide me he did. When I did not know where the money would come from to go see my NIGERIAN Husband the first time, I prayed and GOD provided. That first trip was so wonderful neither one of us expected the deep conection that we had. We had been talking for months on the phone but that first meeting was so POWERFULL. When I had to leave it was very hard for both of us. Over a period of 2 years I went to see him 4 times, as much as I could afford. The last trip was for his interview. I took the time to get to know this man who woulld come to be my Husband. Since he has been here we have had some troubles but we love each other so we take the time to work through it. I am not afraid to tell the world that I love my NIGERIAN Husband!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hope that everyone here can proudly stand up beside thier NIGERIAN Spouses. NIGERIANS often are LABELED as scammers because of some bad examples. Think about the bad seeds in all cultures, scams do not just come out of NIGERIA there are lots of other countries inculding our own. Before you point a finger at someone else remember there are four more pointing back at you.

Amen!!!
