National Visa Center (Dept of State)STUCK @ NVC for AP (Part 2)

So, I have been trying to call NVC the past 2 days (603-334-0700), but no phone I use seems to get past the dial tone. But they did return my e-mail:

"Dear Sir/Madam:

Your inquiry has been received at the National Visa Center (NVC).

This petition is currently undergoing additional processing. We will
send further instructions once this processing is completed."

So, the question is ??? The NVC appears to be the black hole for most information.
Answers are vague and according to the previous thread on this, time is not predictable.
What exactly do they do after the National Security Office (Homeland Security)has cleared you?

Is there a way to talk with a human who actually will discuss your case with you?
Or is this one of those things you just pray about?

Usually with true AP(my friend has been there for 6 months now) you call DOS(department of state)for information not NVC try there and you can talk to real person..

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresUSCIS TRAINED TO LIE???
QUOTE (drbilldc @ Jan 29 2008, 06:45 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
ok some info and a suspicion. last week 1/25/08 i called customer service trying to get a receipt number or see if i was in the system. i told the rep i filed mid November he promptly replied OH WE ARE ONLY ON OCTOBER. flash forward to today. 1/29/08 i call again HOWEVER this time i lie and say that i filed in October, without missing a beat the rep says OH WE ARE ONLY ON SEPTEMBER APPLICATIONS/ so here is my thought . possibly they are trained to automatically respond like this. if someone has not received an NOA1 i encourage them to call tomorrow and lie and say you filed in September if theory is correct they will respond. OH WE ARE STILL ON AUGUST or such and such service center is only on August.
i did however get the info that i will be sent to California service center, wasn't sure where i would go after the Chicago box.

The U.S. federal government and it's contractors are horribly incompetent, and has become a sheltered workshop for people otherwise unemployable except as minimum wage clerks and laborers. These losers administer and set up the programs the contractors operate. Don't blame it on outsourcing.

A few years ago, a study was done regarding the IRS's employees completing taxpayer's filings, as well as the telephone advice lines. I recall the IRS tax agents made errors on 60% of simple 1040s, and did not get ANY 1040s correct that were even minimally complicated.

Our federal government is an unbelievably huge mess out of control, and can't be trusted to provide even simple services correctly.

I have been ringing the NVC number (603-334-0700) for the last month to find out if they have our case and the automated message insists they have received no such record or case in the system after giving them the WAC number.. we were approved on August 11th. I am little anxious now as it is almost 30 days too long. Is there another number to be calling? I am desperate blush.gif thanks all.

For the K-1, you need to speak directly to a person at the NVC to find out if they have received it. You can not use the automated service.

National Visa Center (Dept of State)I-864 question
QUOTE (ALI555 @ Mar 23 2009, 08:09 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I am ready to send I-864 but need to clarify one thing.

In I-864 part 5 it asks for sponsor's household size and I have my brother as joint sponsor who will send I-864A with me. He has his own family of total 3 so should I just add 1 or 3 in part 5 sec g. Please let me know if you had same situation.

I didn't use a joint sponsor, but I believe that you and your brother will fill out the I-864 independently. For your brother, he will list the following under question 21:

b. 1 for himself
c. 1 for his wife if married
d. the number of children he has
e. the number of other persons he is financially responsible for

So if he has a total of 3 dependents including himself, then line h will show a total 4 which also includes your spouse whom he is sponsoring.

He will only use section g if he lives with family members who will also use their income for the I-864.

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresAnnulments
QUOTE (Paris Heart @ Apr 27 2008, 04:54 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Maybe a Affadavit she or he can do may take care of probelms if they occur. I know when I tried to apply for marriage overseas, the U.S. embassy had me sign a Affadavit stating I was free to marry outside of U.S. and they never ask for my divorce papers. I had them with me, and could prove my names from my maiden name to the man I divorced several years later. I just took a oath and signed the paper. But if its a lady, and never took his name, cant see how anyone would know.

By the way, the ex-husband's name was never taken and there are no connections what so ever to him because nothing was shared or tied to social security numbers.

Thanks you two for your replies....they're appreciated.

Well, maybe the affadavit will work. This information really needs to be disclosed on the petition. Maybe a phone call to the USCIS might shed some light on this though I doubt that those answering the phones can say anthing more than "Your petition has been received and is pending". Anyhow, it's worth a try.

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresAnnulments
QUOTE (gemilina @ Apr 27 2008, 01:53 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
If the paperwork shows that your partner was married I would think that the US would want an original of the annulment.

So maybe if it's not listed on the K-3, then it might go undiscovered. It seems like a big risk, but not sure what else can be done. I'm not sure if background checks are able to obtain previous marriages or if they just go off of the information supplied on the petition.

It seems impossible to acquire this documentation, but since there was a subsequent marriage to an american and then the current marriage to the foreign beneficiary of the k-3, then it stands to reason that these marriages were legal.

Thanks for your reply.

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresAnnulments
Hi all,

Can someone tell me what needs to be done in the case of an annulment? How does one prove that an annulment occurred when the paperwork has been lost and the courhouse doesn't have it on file? There has been subsequent marriages so it's assumed that the records indicate the previous marriage has legally ended. However, when applying for a k-3, how can it be approved when annulment papers can't be included? If this marriage isn't listed on the petition, they will still discover it due to the background check so I'm not sure what can be done. This marriage occurred more than 20 years ago.

Can someone shed any light on this please?

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresTotally Confused!!....Couple questions re: timeline and I-129F
When my husband submitted I-129F application we already included my police record (we submitted everything anyway even if not part of the requirements). And yet during my interview I still brought with me my original police record and other documents.

If you did not submit his police record with your application, don't worry, just let him bring it with him during the interview. Besides, if they need it or need more evidence before the interview, they will let you know.

The only way I could get the IIN was when they mailed the IV bill to my wife in the Philippines and it was on the paper. So maybe you will have to wait like I did until they mail it? Hope this helps.

I have been reading posts and websites about what the NVC does. On the affidavit of support once its mailed back to the NVC whats the NVC do with it? Do they go over it or just make sure all forms are there and ships it all to the embassy? Another question if you need a joint sponsor do u need to have that person file the AOS b4 sending it all in to the NVC or will the embassy send us something when it all goes there? thanks

What is the NVC role in the affidavit of support do they just check to be sure you send the I864 in? For example a person does not meet the income requirement and fills out the AOS sends it back to NVC do they just check making sure all forms are sent in then fowards it to the embassy and the CO makes the decision on wether you need to have a joint sponsor or not?

Africa: Sub-SaharanCR1 Visa is approved!!!
I know I have not been posting much these last severalmonths, but I have been so busy. I have been trying to read posts when I can,but I miss everyone. Today, I bringwonderful news. God is faithful and He alone is worthy to be praised. While with the help of VJ member and our facebook groups, we did all we could do, I give all glory to God! My precious husband was approved for his CR1/IR1visa on this fine glorious day! I willhave him write a review of his interview and I will post it soon. I will elaboratemore on some of the delays we experienced to that I had posted questions aboutand not followed up on. Until then, here is a brief summary of what he told me.His interview was scheduled for 10:30 AM and he arrived at the embassy at 6:30AM.

They called people in at 7 AM, 8 AM, 9 AM, and 10 AM. Hewent in at 10 AM and was second to be called. The first person called wasdenied. He then told God he reject that, and ask God has He forgot that hiswife is at home waiting for him? He was called up by a man. The man smiled andmy husband smiled. The man asked him for his birth certificate and his marriagecertificate. The man then asked him for his passport and 3 passport photos. Hetold my husband to go back and sit and listen carefully for his number to becalled soon. He waited 20 minutes and was called up by a woman. She greeted himand he greeted her. She asked him if he was the owner of this application. Hesaid he was. She gave it to him to sign. She asked where he met his wife, andhe told her. She asked him when, and he told her. She asked him where wemarried, and he told her. She asked him about his grandchildren, and he toldher. She asked when did he see me last, and he told her (November 2012). Sheasked him what did he know that make his wife happy? He smiled. She smiled andsaid tell me please. He said do you want to know? She said yes. He said it is my song to her (hehas been singing this song to me past few weeks to cheer me up). She saidreally? She said can you sing it for me? He said yes. She said ok I'm listening. He sang to her: I'm coming home, coming home, oh my Babe, I'm coming home. She smilesand asks him can you sing it again? He said, if you want me to sing it againyou have to pay me (not what I would have said…gulp, but I guess it was one ofthose you have to be there moments). She smiled and said please I would love tohear it again. He said give me my visa first then I sing for you. She told himyou have been approved but you have to sing for me. He said he sang a lot andshe was so happy he is sure the person she called behind him got their visa approvedtoo. He was told he can pick up his visa in 5 business days.

There are no words to express my joy…..my husband is cominghome….it has been a long hard expensive2 yr journey, and well worth it! God is faithful, and my Precious is cominghome! I want to thank everyone for their prayers and support. I will post a review once I have one and will update my timeline soon.

Africa: Sub-SaharanYou know you're Husband is African when.......
These posts are hilarious, but ohhhhh so true.

You know your husband is african when he adds peppers to everything he cooks and asks if he can bring his peppers to the restaurant you are going to take him to (once he gets here), but there are no doubts left when you find a humongous jar of crushed peppers in your luggage when you arrive home and he regularly asks you if you are using them.

OMG about the bed sheets! I have pics of my husband using our bedsheets as a head wrap.   I didn't get it until now.

I had already figured out the bucket thing and informed him he would find no buckets at our home when he arrives and let him know that I definately did not need to be taught how to wash our clothes by hand when he gets here. :bonk:

Thanks for the warning about the pots......hmmmm. I will definately go shopping for his own "special set of pans" when he arrives. (L) (L) (L)

I will also try the pork comment for left overs, but not sure if it will work

Driving........yeah I've been nervous about that and haven't figured that one out yet.

It took me about a year to work through the brother/uncle thing, but now I know them all so he can't confuse me anymore.

He has been warned about the air conditioning and I can't wait to roll over and see him in his sweat pants and sweat shirt covered in 3 blankets!!!

Africa: Sub-SaharanAnyone denied a tourist visa to Nigeria?

My husband applied for a Niger Wife Visa or Certificate ( I am not sure what the technical name is but another member posted a link above.) My husband was told that they need my passport to add a visa page into my passport that will never expire unless we divorce and he requests that they revoke it. Since he did not have my passport with him, they issued him a residence permit valid for 1 year until I come to Nigeria and get the visa page entered into my passport. The Residence permit is like a driver's license type of card with my picture on it and it shows my name, my passport #, says Niger Wife, and Residence permit. If your husband applies for this for you, I would caution you about mailing him your passport. I mailed my husband my passport (before I had changed my married name on my passport), and their immigration would not accept it because it did not have my married name on it yet, so he tried to mail it back to me and customs confiscated it and kept it and told him it is illegal to mail passports out of Nigeria. I gave them a copy of my new passport with my married name on it when I was there last, but they couldn't print the visa page to put into my passport before I had to return to the US, so they gave him the residence card after I left until I come back with my passport. I hope this clears up the confusion a bit, but honestly, my husband has been doing this and I am not all that clear on it myself.

After reviewing the CERPAC description, I do not think this is what my husband applied for. This looks like a green card allowing you to work and is valid for 2 years. The Niger wife Visa is valid until there is a divorce, and the husband request immigration revoke it. I think Nigerians must renew their passports every 10 years, so what I am not clear on is if I will have to have my Niger Wife Visa renewed every 10 years also like my husband's passport. I called the Nigerian embassy in Washington DC right after we married, and they told me there is no such thing as a Niger Wife Visa, but they gave me incorrect information. I think the best way for you to get accurate information is for your husband to go to his local immigration office and get the specifics. It is common knowledge in Nigeria so He may already know.
