Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionAffadavits
Do the affadavits by family and friends have to look like the examples on here? Can they just write letters? Not sure if we are supposed to follow the format or if they can do it differently.

Thanks!

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionNew processing times - is the USCIS lying?
I saw this update on the USCIS Website today. This may shed some light to why we are seeing the delays, but seems like more excuses to good management and making adjustments to better manage the process.

This was taken directly from their site at :

http://www.uscis.gov...00045f3d6a1RCRD

Q : When can I expect USCIS to process my case?

USCIS processes applications in the order they are received by application type. Due to the significant increase in the number of applications filed, processing times have been affected. As a result, average processing times for certain application types filed after June 1, 2007, may become longer. For example:

Naturalization applications may take approximately 16-18 months to process;
Family-based adjustment of status applications may take 10-12 months; and
Immigrant petitions for relatives and workers may take 9-10 months.
Application processing times are accessible from the USCIS.gov homepage. Processing times are an estimate of how long it will take to complete your case. Each case is different, and some cases may take longer to process than others. You can use your receipt (I-797) to check the status of your case using Case Status Online. Please note that USCIS will only process requests for case status information if it is beyond posted processing times. We encourage you to check processing times, which are updated monthly, before inquiring about your case.

Seems poor management and planning given what they already knew was coming but I do understand there are struggles everyone faces, including the Governement. So, the question becomes is this a management and planning issue that could of been addressed or truly something different.

CanadaAOS and vaccination record with k-1 visa

I found this post from someone who didn't have it transcribed and it was fine. It depends on who opens your file I guess. Personally I didn't get mine transcribed. I wasn't shelling out a bunch more money if I didn't have to. This process is a tad expensive as it is and since I have 3 kids....everything times 4. So watch my timeline...if you see an RFE in a few weeks...then go get it done. lol

Thanks.....
Yah, this process is expensive, time consuming and fustrating. I can imagine how difficult it must be when kids are added to the process (I only have cats). Good luck with filing!

CanadaAOS and vaccination record with k-1 visa
I am confused..... I have read through several other threads but still confussed.
I had a medical done a few month ago in Vancouver and was issued a k1 visa. At the medical I was given a copy of my immunization records (I think this is my DS 3025?) which states: 'Vaccine history incomplete, Applicant may be eligible for blanket waiver(s) becuase vaccination(s) not medically appropriate'. I am know filing for AOS and do not understand if I need to get my vaccination records transcribed by a civil surgeon to form I-693.

Anyone know???

(I think I need to get my vaccination records transcribed but I don't really see the piont of this, maybe I am missing something??)

Thanks :)

US Citizenship General Discussionnear the end now
Hello. I had my interview in Indianapolis on May 14. It went well except I was nervous and had to quickly correct myself on two of the questions. I already knew them so it had to be nerves. :) Also, I wasn't asked to show anything except my drivers license, passport, and green card.

Just received my oath letter yesterday and I become a citizen on June 15 in South Bend, Indiana.

I'm happy with how quick this process went. From my application being received on February 21, to my oath letter being sent out on May 21...that is pretty quick. Good luck to the rest of you.

US Citizenship General Discussiontravel question
Thanks for the tips everyone. :) I asked my local Walgreens one time and they said they couldn't do it. Maybe they just didn't know it. Wal Mart couldn't do it either. :(

xenaxe, I will let you know if I find anything.

So I'm hoping if I can't get it done anywhere (I could try to find a white wall to take my own pic on and use that free site), that I can just use my US passport to enter Canada. After all, I am a Canadian citizen and the passport will say that I am from Canada so they have to let me in right?
JoeCanukMaleCanada2012-05-29 10:23:00
US Citizenship General Discussiontravel question
I'm guessing dual citizens of the US and Canada might know the answer to my question. I'm wondering if when I become a citizen I can travel to Canada where I am also a citizen with my US passport. My Canadian passport is expired, I can't find any place in the US that takes Canadian passport photos (different specifications) so I can't renew it, and the US passport will say that I am from Canada. So can I use it and if so, do I say I'm Canadian or American or dual citizen of both? Just wondering if anyone has experience with this. I can't afford two passports right now and I can't afford to travel to Canada right now to get photos taken there.

That is cool that you are allowed to bring your pets so easily. I always thought you had to have them quarantined for like 2 weeks or so before they'll let you take them.

CanadaDo I have everthing for my Interview
I deleted everything that wasn't listed in my packet 3 so you can see what they say they require. You're not missing anything.

Ok I am starting to panic now, making sure I have everthing for my K3 interview. Am I missing anthing?

- $100 USD Cash
- Appointment letter
- Passport
- Original and Copy of birth certificate
- Original and Copy of Marriage certificate (what?)
- Original and Copy of police certificate
- Original and Copy of I-134 form with copies of tax receipts from spouse, pay stubs, employment letter
- Copies of DS156 forms that were previously sent with pgk 3
- Copy of DS230 part 1 from previously sent with pgk 3
- Original copy of checklist previously sent with pgk 3
- Medical papers
- X-Rays
- 2 passport photos
- Express post envelope

AM I MISSING ANYTHING?????????????

JoeCanukMaleCanada2007-06-14 16:14:00
CanadaDo I have everthing for my Interview

If your interview is in Montreal whether applying for a K3 or K1 the consulate will require the orignal approval notice which for your case is the K1 I-129 approval form plus all COPIES of what you had to send to apply for the I-129.
Good Luck!

How come my packet 3 never mentioned anything of the sort? Don't they ALREADY HAVE the I-129F stuff?

Congratulations! It must be a weight off your shoulders getting through that interview. I'll post my own review on a separate thread later on but I will say this: they never asked me for my fiancee's birth certificate and I was relieved. I hope it's still allowed to have an affidavit of support under a year old. Mine is from December.

If I remember correctly ours was several months old...didn't seem to be a problem. My husband (then fiancé) was approved. His interview lasted FIVE minutes...two questions...

You ARE going to be ok Joe...I do understand the stress, my husband felt it too, but once it was over he couldn't believe he was so stressed about it.

Thank you. I hope so. I feel like I'm going to have a heart attack. :(

CanadaPOE

it was highly recommended to me that i cross at one of the 24 hour POE's, and to cross during the week when they are less busy. also, make sure that wherever you cross, you ask to speak with a supervisor. i understand that everyone was new at one time, but i personally would want to make sure that whoever was dealing with my 'immigration' was experienced and knew what to do. i don't want any mistakes made by someone else to affect things for me later on...

Andrea, how do they take to you asking to see a supervisor? I imagine they don't respond very nicely eh? lol

Anyways, if they did make a mistake wouldn't it be their fault. All you do is give your stuff to them so if a mistake is made it should be on their heads.

Even though my fiancee lives only four hours away I haven't went to visit her since last summer. I didn't want to get turned away and even if they let you in, I have heard that it causes an extended FBI check. I wanted to avoid that so just didn't bother going.

Huh. I wonder how true this is... several people from VJ seem to have gone to visit in the USA while their visas were processing without a problem. Some have been denied but that was because they didn't have sufficient evidence of ties to Canada...

I don't know. I have only heard that it is the case. I didn't want to take my chances though.

My fiance lives 4 1/2 hours away and I go there every one to two weeks for the weekend and I've gone for vacations ect .. I've always been totally honest about where I'm going, who I'm going to see and what stage my application is at.

I carry all of my files for proof and also a letter from my employer, my pay stubs and my phone/cable bill. I have only been pulled over once (just after I received my NOA 2) and I didn't have all of my paperwork with me .. they just told me what to carry and sent me on my way.

Not once have I been denied entry ... POE is the Peace Bridge

I booked a studio at Centreville for the 17th .. they first quoted 125 for the room but when I told them it was for a consulate interview and that I would call back to book they told me that when I called back they would give me the corporate rate .. I booked cost $97

LOL I'm so mad! I paid 150 for the 1 to 2 person room. I didn't know you could get a discount. I should email them and complain. They knew I was going to the embassy before I ever paid for the room. Argh.
