Things are getting faster and faster now!!!! I got my appointment letter just today!

But anyway, I have one query...

Are we allowed to have medical exam during the "red" days (the ladies thing) ???

Nope....St. Luke's will not let you have your medical exam when you have your period or during the "red" days. :)

hi everyone,

I noticed the same thing with our case number...the site was down for a while earlier, perhaps the database got corrupted?

Thanks... that good to hear, I thoght they maybe move our date, or somebody hit the delete button on accident :)

same here....after reading your post, I checked ours and sure enough, our case number is not found.....but it was there yesterday when I checked..... :o

You can bring your NOA2 (and photocopy), or you can print out your schedule at USEM web and that will be your appointment letter/schedule. You can also call SLEC and request for a packet pick-up with them, so when you go there to pick up your packet, you can also go ahead and have your medical. SLEC: 521-0020 or 521-8647. Packet pick-up is located at the ground floor to the right (Window E or F).

'jeng'
Your POE is the first US state you arrived/landed in and that will be HAWAII.

They did not get my CXR plates. The Immigration officer is Pinay and she told me I can even throw it away and that it is not really needed since the results are already inside the "envelop" and that is what they need. But just keep your CXR plates in your home as souvineer.

My advice to all who’ll have the interview is to make sure you got all the necessary documents pretty well-covered so that whatever they’ll ask for, it can be provided. You never know what they will ask from you so better got everything readily available. Wear smile and confidence no matter how nervous you are. Politeness is a virtue as well, especially with the consul. They can ask tricky questions so make sure you are ready for it. Anyway if you are being true and honest, no matter what / how the consul asks you, you’ll always speak for what is true. And oh, keep yourself entertained because the waiting is a lot harder than the interview itself. Look for Mr. Congeniality… he was wearing peach that day… It’s like he’s the one in-charge to help the applicants forget about the nervousness. Make friends with fellow applicants and chat with them to while away the time.

Questions from the pre-screener:

Who my petitioner is
Where, how and when we met
When he visited me, for how long

Documents she asked from me:

NBI
CENOMAR
BC
Pictures
Recent snail mails
My fiancé 2006 ITR and I-134

Questions from the consul:

Who my petitioner is
Where, how and when we met
When did he visit me, for how long, where we went and what we did
If he’s married before (when I said yes and for how many times, he got a follow up question: How can you be sure that you’ll be the last wife?)
If he got kids
His job
His favorite color (I thought it was funny but I realized, he asked because David’s emails to me that we included in our original I-129F application were in bright colors; name a color and we got it; so I just smiled and told him my fiancé’s real favorite color)
His hobbies
And the last but not the least, how did I know that I will be the last wife (yup, that question again ;) but I could tell that he was just making fun of me because he was smiling mischievously)

It took more than 9 hrs before I was called in a 5-minute interview with the consul, so imagine the long and frustrating wait. But it was worth all the hardships, effort, preparations… everything… when I finally got the visa.   It was a good sign and I knew right then that I will be approved (modesty aside  ) when the consul joked around and made fun of me. When he asked me to raise my hand and swear that I would tell the truth, I asked him if I have to stand up and he said: Oh, ok… (I stood up) raise your right hand (and so I did)… now lift your left foot on the chair… and I was like “Are you serious?” ;) and he laughed heartily as if he was enjoying having me fooled. He then said that he was just kidding :P and that I could just sit down. I forgot about the nervousness because I was laughing so hard. It was a breeze talking to him like we’re just close friends. I was itching to ask him if I got approved after enjoying himself kidding me but I didn’t want him to think that I was pushing my luck. All in all, the interview wasn’t so bad if not for the long wait. But like I said, having the visa and seeing the future with my honey is worth everything. I also made some friends there, sang songs while waiting for our turns and made fun of Mr. Congeniality. I also met a girl who doesn’t deserve to have a visa with the way she treated her fiancé who’s with her during the interview. :( I felt bad for the guy because she humiliated and embarrassed him countless times, in front of many people. She’s lucky that he’s with him. She was so nervous when she was interviewed the guy answered all the questions for her. I think she’ll be on AR (being a nosy woman, :D I asked her fiancé how the interview went) because she got scars on her wrist and St. Lukes asked her to see a psychiatrist first (darn right!) and also, her passport was worn out the consul ripped it (in a nice way, according to them) and asked her to apply for a new one and submit it right away. It’s not that I’m being judgmental but I think he deserves better than her… Oh well, like a cliché goes “love is blind…”

Good luck to all of you who will have their interviews…

--Mae (signing off over the weekend) :luv:

Congrats!!!!

And thanks so much for the info!!!

I thought all the waiting would kill me, but now I see that was just preparation for this step...getting all the documents ready for the interview!

CONGRATULATIONS DAVID & MAE!!!!

I still got no appointment packet in my hand, however, I want to go for early medical exam (2 weeks earlier than the my sched). What must I bring in lieu of my appointment packet?

I am planning for an early medical too but I have not received my packet yet. I have no idea how to go about it and what to bring. Shed some light please :help:

Thank you Charlie! I scanned it briefly and seems everything is in there. I will look at it in more detail later or tonight so I can digest on it thoroughly and and more questions later.... hehehehe :) Right now I am on my way to the photocopy center to have my documents photocopied in preparation for my CFO tomorrow. Hopefully I can make it to the list....I was told that only 15 will be accepted for US bound participants. Need to be there very early in the morning.

Hi,

I just joined VJ yesterday but have been visiting the site since last month. Everyone is really a big help. Thank you all.

Anyway, USEM received our papers May 18. Fiance called USEM today and have been told that probably my interview would probably be on August or September.

Question: Is it possible to apply for an early appointment? Do we need to quality for that such as valid reasons why we want early appointment? We hope to be interviewed early in July.

My fiance just found out yesterday that there is something wrong with his prostate according to his doctor. He / We kind of hope that I would be there with him for the biopsy and to the entire process of his examination.

But if we do apply for early appointment be rejected, it might delay us even more and we don't want that. It's either apply for early appointment or just wait for them forever until they scheduled us. :huh2:

What do you think? any input is welcome......

well this is real sore subject right now for us, I booked a flight for Joy and The itinerary includes Philippine Airlines from Cebu to Nagoya(Tokyo) then American Airlines to Chicago. I look on Philippine airlines website and the weight limit is 20 Kilos total allowed same as domestic and it is $14 a kilo over 20 kg. I immediately called Philippine airlines nd they confirmed this. Utterly freakin ridiculous her Luggage weighs 5 kilos alone.

This lowest weight limit for international travel in the industry let alone $14 a kilo.. #######.

It sucks as the ticket is non refundable or I would change it in a heartbeat.

Fedex quoted $200 for 20 kilo box from cebu to Chicago (2 days via air)

Manila Forwarder quoted $170 for jumbo balikbayan box (24x18x24) no weight limit. Cebu to Chicago (4 to 6 weeks via ship)

So Joy is going crazy trying to limit her stuff.

I am interested in the Manila Forwarder for shipping from Manila to the U.S. What company did you contact in the Philippines? Do you have a contact name/number? I think that would be a good option for us for the next time we go back (Marlene really likes to shop)

i don't have a ticket or flight schedule for my fiancee yet, i'm still shopping around for a one-way great deal. well, i'm more concern about the wait time in between flights. her final destination here in the U.S. is florida and there is no direct flight here from manila so i expect 1 or 2 stops.im also concerned especially with the new policies on checked bags.. with northwest airlines, once in the U.S.(POE)if your wait time for your connecting flight is more than 8 hours, you'll have to pay for the 2nd bag because your flight will be converted as domestic flight.
if anyone out here knows any travel agents/agencies in manila that accepts credit card payments from a U.S. bank please share it with us innocent.gif
thanks guys and good luck and have a safe trip to all!

Try http://www.vayama.com/ was best prices I could find and they took my credit card no problem. I looked and for example june 18th $924 Manila to Orlando, 3 hour stop in HK 3 hours in Chicago. So should be no problems as far as baggage limitations.

To add to list Joy's flight is June 12th Cebu to Japan on PAL then AA to Chicago.

You can go to this site and get all the information needed to get special visa to stay up to 59 days each visit to the Philippines. I get the $90 visa that allows me to go as often as wanted during the year and stay 59 days. They have a $30 visa for one trip staying up to 59 days. That way no need to worry about what will happen or if you will pay when leaving the country. Works for me and hope it helps you. http://www.chicagopcg.com/forms.html

She then asked if the DV is no longer required and Grace mentioned that it is a new process this October. My wife asked if they can do something about it and she said there's nothing she can do about it. Haay naku. NSO talaga! Good luck to all those waiting for their visas due to DV.

so the new process is that there is no longer a documentation verification fee(DV) starting october???

Check the website. They would require a marriage index though. That's good news for new applicants. But for those already interviewed Aug/Sep, DV process is still required.

I just asked same question on another post but what is Marriage Index?? thanks in advance

QUOTE (ninjarocket @ Oct 20 2008, 08:50 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I guess you're referring to the NBI clearance specific to the Philippines. You can obtain one of those from any city; even one where you haven't lived because it's the "National Bureau of Investigations." That was the case with my wife who obtained one in Manila even thought she lives on Mindanao.

Police clearances are required from other countries in which you have lived for more than 6 months I believe. The requested information is on the USEM website.

They are right, Net. DV is still needed and it depends on the CO to wait for the DV or not. Just have the documents ready just in case the CO assigned to you won't require the DV anymore.

Hello is it possible to pay the Delbros too soon? Should one wait until the DS-230 has been approved or just pay it when you do have the case number? Will Delbros keep record of payment even if there are no documents to approve until the DS-230 has been approved?

you can call the embassy hotline and request an email regarding your case. The email printout will be accepted in lieu of the appointment letter at St. Luke's.

Good luck. smile.gif

I wasn't able to read the last post. But the email will suffice for the medical.

I actually just checked my email this morning and got the email stating she has interview the 12th of December and that a letter will come telling the details. I have read others here received their letter one month or more after it was sent by the NVC? My concern is if the letter gets lost in the mail between USA and Philippines what should we do about her medical? I am here in the Philippines until December 10th and I am sure I probably have my copy of the letter at the post office now but will she get hers in time for medical before interview time.

I did not bring any food with me on flight to US, because i dont want to keep on answering questions from custom. I did bring some Coach purse though, about 4 pieces and i was not questioned about it.

you can search via internet too. what you can bring and you cant on your flight...

Goodluck. good.gif

God bless. Have a safe trip. innocent.gif

Hello Sassygirl876 and yes there is an Asian store in West Lafayette and an actual Philippino store in Terre Haute and I go there at least once a month when home and not here in the Philippines. So I can get what you want if in stock there and when in USA can supply you with the phone number for the stores. Take care and stay in touch.

I had applied for my CENMAR while my papers were still at NVC, having found out about its necessity on the USEM link for CR/IR beneficiaries. Applied online at e-census, paid for it at a Unionbank branch and it was delivered to my doorstep after 5 days. Is faster than waiting in line at the main office where you get it in 10-14 days.

I suppose the soonest she can get it, she should bring it straight away to USEM.

Do you have the link to do that online? Thanks

You can bring the additional doc/s requested to the embassy anytime but....(check the white paper given to your wife, it's indicated there that you need to submit the doc/s within one year or else your case be terminated). Why did the embassy gave exact date of submission? Indeed, there's no definite time when you can complete the doc/s requested... more the CENOMAR coz it will take about 15 days (you're lucky if you go to NSO branches where you can get it in ONE day)...

She went to the main office of the NSO and that is where they said come back Jan 6th. Are you saying she can go to a branch of the NSO and get it the same day but not at the main office? And if already applied at main office can she still get one from a branch? Not sure why the interviewer said by next Thursday? Maybe she misunderstund him? Thanks for the help.

Hello,
I've done with my interview at USEM last Nov. 17 and the consul ask me to submit the marriage index and crba of my son. The marriage index takes 10 days at any branch of the NSO or even at the main office of the NSO. I just wonder what room number of your wife did her interview with the consul coz some of the applicants didnt ask the marriage index.

Thanks for the information about taking 10 days minumum at any location and them saying pick it up Jan 6th is due to the Holidays. I will ask which room she interviewed in when I can contact her as she is traveling to USEM and can not take her cellphone due to their rules about cellphones. What did you do when you did get your Marriage Index? Did you just take it back and they tell you when you would get your visa? Thanks again for helping.

PhilippinesMarriage Index needed
My wife had her interview December 12th and was told she needed a Marriage Index and to return by next Thursday the 18th. She went today to get it at NSO and paid and was told to pick it up on January 6th!! My question is what should she do? She is going now to the US Embassy to ask what will happen and can they use the copy she has from when we were married there in Feb 2008? I recommended to her to see if she can get the orignial back from City Hall that was given at time of marriage? Anyone else have this problem? Any ideas what she should do? Other women had interviews the same day and some of them also were told to get Marriage Index! Please offer advise if you have had experience with this issue. Thanks

i was just wondering if its possible, once u had ur interview and got approved, is it possible to just pick up ur visa instead of waiting?can u ask the CO if u can pick up ur passport?

They told my wife at the Embassy she could pick hers up there. She had asked at the time of her interview.

did they tell her when she can pick it?

bratikicks- im from cabanatuan city,im thinking if its possible to pick up visa

No they did not as she still needs the Marriage Index and when she takes that to the embassy they will tell her when she can pick it up. She is only two short bus rides and one jeepney from the embassy so it is fairly close to her.

We used xoom and got no problem with them. A friend of mine used moneygram and she said it is reliable too .

I think MoneyGram is $9.48 for up to $750 sent at WalMart.

Can somebody explain to me how does moneygram works? Every month I use WU to send money to my family in Cebu, PI but their service charge (for every $100) is a little bit expensive. How many days before my family can claim the money if I'll use moneygram?

I used to use MoneyGram before I opened my Credit Union account as mentioned earlier in this thread. Just go to Walmart and tell them you want to send money and they give you the forms to fill out and the cost is something like $9.48 for any amount up to $750 unless it has changed. You can go online to see where you can pick it up in the Philippines. We used a national place of business there which has locations all over the Philippines. I think it was a chain of pawn shops but very reliable. Hope this helps.
