PhilippinesInterview scheduled....do Medical when?
Yeah. But if there will be a problem with the medical (let's hope everything's ok) you need to cancel and reschedule your interview.

PhilippinesCFO? I'm so confused!
http://cfo.gov.ph/in...article&id=1704

St. Mary's will still conduct GCP's til September 25 but after the seminar you have to go to CFO office to get your sticker. So if you have your visa on hand, it's better to go to CFO office. :)

PhilippinesCFO? I'm so confused!
PRISM does not conduct GCP anymore. Their last day was July 13. If you have your visa go to CFO office to have the seminar and sticker. They only have 12 slots a day, first come, first serve

kukunin ba nila yong pics? para makapag pa develop ulit ako.. How many pics are necessary?

I brought 10 pictures.

PhilippinesAcclimatization, Philippines to USA
QUOTE (Russ_M @ Nov 15 2007, 10:16 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
The journey of life is difficult enough let alone moving from the Philippines to the USA.

Besides leaving their family and world the American way of life, in some ways, is completely backwords to philippine customs and traditions.

Just a few obvious differences revolve around American's life style and a seemingly quest for advancement and money.

After researching other webistes I've discovered some very interesting cultural aspects about the philippines, especially concerning the philipina's way of life.

It is often-times easy to get lost in information and take anonymouse information for fact. So I'm posting my wayward finding here in the hopes others will provide their own perspectives and opions towards improving relationships between all us.

=================================================
Since my wife is a Philipina my research has focused on finding ways to make her transition as easy as possible. But the more I read it seems there will be many transitions for me too LOL!

My research,
There have been many posts/blogs from concerned individuals whos marriages are not working out and after only a few months.

Most issues seem to stem from their wives not talking as much as they expected and this worried them. Next their wives became distant and would start crying or sleeping all day. Until finally their spouse would want to go home or just disappear one day when they came home from work.

Of course there are many other dynamics concerning a relationships and I'm certain most posters leave out information they don't feel comfortable sharing. But still after reading so many posts there must be something goinging on.

And so, even though my wife still awaits the release of her visa to Delbros, I endevour to ready myself for the challeges of a new Philipina wife and soon to be mother.

To start I researched the history of the Philippines and even started studying the language especially her native dialectic; Bicol.

Here are a few pieces of information that pop out with respect to relationships with philipina women.

In general philippine's women have been treated like second class citizens for many years and as such, for the most part, they have adapted to a subservient role. Obviously there are many exceptions, the current president is a woman. However, the majority of the country struggles everyday to make in this shaking economy, where most jobs are service sector based.

It seems the women now depend on the family and especially husbands to run the family; to make the big decisions and to Ok the womens every move. But I notice at the same time many of the men are just as happy letting their wives work as they sleep all day or drink their RedHorse. However, they still play the dominant role in the family.

Personally I would like my wife to be a strong individual and know she can do as she please. I have total faith in her and would love it if she finds a position in our community that helps her feel fulfilled.

While eveyone is different and have their own lives to deal with I can't help to think "where there is smoke there is fire!" Maybe the culture difference between the Philippines and America is so great that we must contend with and accept, there will be some challenges needing to be met. And the sooner we understand root of these obstacles the sooner we can overcome them.

Ok, someone else have input?

CanadaWhat do you do if your 129-F petition expires before you can get an interview?

my petition expired in December and my interview was almost 4 month after that. It gets automatically extended. as for switching to the Vancouver consulate, you can't do that unless you physically move there.

My finance' talked to someone at the Montreal consulate yesterday regarding the problems with no available appointments in Montreal and the guy he had on the phone asked if he could get to Vancouver, he could schedule him an appointment there.... is this guy wrong???.... where did you hear that you have to actually move there?? We're seriously thinking about him flying all the way out to Vancouver if it's possible....

I've been reading so much good information here... I'm hoping someone can help with this question..

My finance' is in Canada and he's just received packet 4 telling him he can schedule an interview.. YAY.... but BOOOOO... there are no available appointments.... so it could push this out until June sometime before he can get an interview... BUT.. the 129F petition expires on May 25th.... so now what??? We've done everything as quick as possible on our end... why the heck do they make them only valid for 4 months if the red tape makes it impossible to meet that deadline?? anyhoo...
any help or suggestions would be much appreciated!!

CanadaMontreal P3 Question

thats right my second question was if there was a fee for the interview and if so how much is it? thanks again!

the fee is for the visa and has to be paid online if you book online using the "Permantly Immigrate-K1 fiance' visa" option from the website
$350.00 USD

you have to pay it before it will show you a calendar of available dates.... that is IF there are available dates.....(eventually there are)

good luck!!

CanadaLawyer for CR1?

We can prove domicile pretty easily. Crossing the border does not seem to be a problem for us. We have crossed countless times. The officer usually asks who is filing for what. We say CR1 and they let us go without any questions. Also I read for USC visiting Canada can be for no longer than 6 mnths. I have read conflicting things that they are allowed 180 days per calendar year or, 6 mnths with one overnight in USA and 6 mnths resets. Not a problem for us as we often spend 2 weeks to a mnth in the USA 5-10 times a year. Why cant we just do that until CR1 goes through? We have a rare opportunity to do this as our volunteering jobs take us everywhere.

my fiance had NO problems with border crossings and did it many times....until that ONE TiME....he got a real jerk of a BP officer...(my fiance' was temporarily umemployed) ...long story short...it was a red flag and resulted in my fiance' getting not only turned away at the border....but his name was now "in the system" and it has been impossible to cross without a hassle has been turned away a few times even though he's got tons of ties to his home country.... so you should be prepared for that possibility

CanadaInterviews in Montreal
My fiance' wrote the Montreal IV unit about transfering to Vancouver and asking about open interview dates in Montreal.....it took 5 weeks for them to respond and we did get an interview booked ...but I thought some of you still trying to book appointments or hope to get earlier appointments might find this encouraging or helpful... here's what they had to say:

Hello,

Thank you for your inquiry.

We release appointments regularly upon availability and as our workload permits. There were recent appointments released for May. By the end of May there will be additional appointments released for June, and so on.

We regret that we cannot have a wide opening of appointments at this time due to increasing workload for the summer. However, please rest reassured that we release new appointments at least twice each month for the following month.

You would have to reside in the Vancouver Consular District to have your K-1 application processed there. You would have to contact Vancouver and inquire what are their requirements for K-1 processing. If they accept you, they will request the file from us.

Thank you.

Best regards,

CanadaSome Questions for Immigration Stuff Post-Greencard

Hi All:

I was hoping someone would know the answer to a couple questions I had...these are more for future reference. I received my greencard a couple months ago...successful AOS from a K1 visa (yay!). I'm Canadian. If this is in in the wrong forum, please feel free to move this post to the correct place :)

1. Expired I-94 from entering on my K1 visa: it's still stapled into my Canadian passport. What should I do with this? I recently crossed the border into and out of Canada at Niagara Falls with my greencard (& Canadian passport), and the CBP officer did not mention my expired I-94 at all. Should I just leave it in there? Am I supposed to hand it in/send it in somewhere? Tried searching the threads on VJ but could not find an answer.

2. US Citizenship: It's not clear to me when I am eligible. Is it 3 years or 5 years? I checked on the USCIS website, and it sounds as if it is 5 years after greencard issued, but then there are certain exceptions for spouses of US Citizens (which would be me). What is the answer in my case? Would like to know for future reference.

3. Canadian Passport Renewal: Just thinking ahead, but wondering if it is possible to renew my Canadian Passport ahead of my April 2012 expiry date, and what is the least painful way to get this renewed, and issued in my new married (last) name. I'm okay paying a rush fee on my next trip up to Canada if this can be done in a day or two. Is there any way to do this from the US (in new married last name) without being passport-less for a month? If anyone has any experience with this, please let me know!

Thanks in advance for your answers!!!

CanadaState Department Trying to Make Getting a US Passport More Difficult
I know when I got my US passport it was really easy all the info they asked for was stuff that was already on my birth certificate....(which was easy to obtain also)....so I could understand maybe putting some more safeguards in place.. (Don't you need a guarantor or something like that to get your passport in Canada??) but that form is INSANE.. and as usual.... WAAAAYYYYYY overboard and just screams of racial profiling.....*sigh*.....I hope that doesn't pass....

CanadaCitizenship, Removing Conditions and Passport Questions!

Hi everyone!

I was wondering if anyone can enlighten me on a couple of things... I've tried to find answers in the FAQs but I didn't seem to find what I was looking for :bonk:

#1: Can you keep your Canadian citizenship if you go through the naturalization process? Meaning, can you have dual citizenship? American/Canadian?

#1b): If not, is it common for people to just keep renewing their 10-year green card? I don't want to give up my Canadian citizenship...

#2: Is it complicated to renew your passport while in the US? Should I wait until I'm up there for a visit to do it?

#2b) How about name change? Can I keep the name I have on it right now or do I have to change it to my married name (the name that's on my green card)?

Thanks in advance for the help everyone! Much appreciated! :star:

ok, got that problem figured out....was not running Internet Explorer! How frustrating that was.

Next question, in registering for Courier Service....we are putting together packet 3 to send today hopefully...do I need to pay the $350 fee or is that not paid until we go ahead and schedule the interview in Montreal???
Want to make sure I am registered correctly and don't do too much too soon... :)

you have two choices... you can pay the fee online when you schedule your interview on the CSC website if you choose "Immigrant Visa-K1 finace"
or you can pay at the interview if you choose "Immigrant Visa-ready to schedule"
