Did he just randomly get that email, or did he send an email to them asking when it would be ready?

no...he didn't send an email or even call to inquire.... we haven't even been hitting up DOS yet for information....it's really bizarre....

he did send an email back in april asking about interview dates and when they would be available.... and the email he got yesterday came from the same office in Montreal that responded to his april email... so I dunno..it's so freaking weird... I'm just really hoping it comes sooner

Oh no... I had my Interview on the 25th also. And since I saw some people who had there's on the 24th got their visas yesterday.... So I went ahead and booked my fiancée flight, he's flying to Canada to go back with me. On the 17 th... Trailer rented also. I pray it comes before,,,,

I was wondering if anyone else who interviewed on the 25th got a similar email.... it's just kinda strange.....

*sigh*... I know... the person who interviewed a day before got their visa issued yesterday... but they weren't a K-1... I don't know if that matters...(I am happy for that person...really!Posted Image)

I hope it works out for you Sabrina!! My fiance was hoping to not have to renew his license plates on his car... they expire on the 19th.... Posted Image....we were just going to register it and plate it here in the US when he came home....now he's got to pay a few hundred dollars for the ability to drive it in canada for maybe a week... Posted Image...
la la la...and so the journey continues.......

I totally understand. I am still waiting on my passport back as well and they gave me no indication as of when I will have it back. After reading all the comments early May, all those people getting it within 10 days, I was truly hoping I would get mine as quickly.

I guess we were lucky to at least hear something from them......
I hope you get some news soon!!

Like everyone you were told it generally took 1-2 weeks to issue a visa but they never guarantee it :( It's the first time I come across them saying they will issue a visa by a certain date. Hang in there.

okay..so I misspoke...they didn't PROMISE anything....gawd...it's been such a grueling process...I know everyone here knows this....
I was just hoping that at least ONE part of this process was going to go as the suggested time frame.....

I haven't seen my fiance in over 4 months now.......Posted Image...so yeah...another 2 and a half to three weeks was a tough pill to swallow .... but... we'll have a lifetime after that!!!!Posted Image Just gotta focus on what really matters.

Did you find out if your passport and visa are on its way to you yet??

I haven't called DOS yet....it's just been a week today since the interview..... I have been checking DHL and also say there is no record for my reference number.....and the CSC site doesn't show anything yet.....I think we are going to wait until Friday to call DOS......I know there are some people that are over 2 weeks waiting now.... appears Montreal is behind in all things these days... You can check on the CSC website (although I found this slow to update). The better way would be to take your 7-digit reference number on the CSC site and put it in at dhl.ca. They have the most up to date information about your package.

You can also call DOS to see if your visa has been printed. Their number is 202-663-1225, press 1 and then 0.

Thank you!!!Posted Image

How are people able to track progress of your approved visa?? website??? or calling a phone number????

I know it's too early to start checking.....(approved on 5/25) but we probably won't be able to help ourselves come next week....Posted Image

Visa in hand :) They didn't even ask me for my waybill number at the DHL location. Just asked if I was picking up a passport and asked for ID. It's a relief to have it here, now I can relax for a couple months before moving.

Congratulations!!!Posted Image Glad to hear Nepean DHL is no hassle.... my fiance will be using that same branch!

CanadaThe Canuck EI Thread

You need to have the EAD card in hand - they require a copy of it.

You may get an approval email, but no letter. The card will come in the mail on its own. You might get a "Welcome to America" letter, but it usually comes after the card.

Thank you! Posted Image
We just got the email saying my husbands card has been ordered/in production, so I hope it comes quick!!! Posted Image

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionCan you travel outside of the US with Conditional Green Card during 90 days filing period?
So anyone on conditional permanent resident status can travel outside of the US for like a month without need for AP, assuming the conditional greencard will "expire" in 2013?

Thanks,

PhilippinesYou Might Be Filipino If Thread
Oh here's a good one that happened over dinner last night. My hubby bit his tongue while eating. I gave him a number between between 1-26. I said 7, made him see what the 7th letter in the alphabet was..letter "G" he said..I said the first name of any person you know that comes into your mind that starts with letter G is the one who was thinking of you or saying things about you when you bit your tongue. This is a common Filipino thingy...lol!
prep.macFemalePhilippines2011-07-17 02:24:00
PhilippinesYou Might Be Filipino If Thread
This is fun!!!!I have been LOL here...here's my contribution:

You might be a Filipino if ... you always have some kind of food (nuts or chocolates or candies) in your "bag" (purse for the Americans!)
You might be a Filipino if ....you miss the sidewalk tinderas and tinderos selling candies or mangagang hilaw with bagoong (green mango with shrimp paste) in every corner of the street while driving.
You might be a Filipino if... you always think of pasalubong when visiting friends/relatives.

You might be married to a Filipina if... during your lunch time, your colleagues ask you "what is THAT smell?!!" while taking out your packed lunch from the microwave oven - rice and adobo or pancit. :)
You might be married to a Filipina if... you make sure you have soy sauce, vinegar/spicy vinegar (sinamak or pinakurat), brown sugar, black pepper and laurel leaves are "must haves" in the kitchen or she won't cook!lol!
You must be married to a Filipina if ... your clothes are pressed ( aka ironed!)

PhilippinesWhat did I do wrong?

So you train employees for Philippine call centers? So they can work for the man in the US for one-sixth of what a US employee would earn? The man spoon-fed you about these people and you think that means you understand their culture?

I don't buy that for 5 seconds.

I think the attempt of anyone to try to understand the culture of his/her partner is commendable. Seeking to understand before being understood - a plus!

There is no menial job, just menial mentality - I forgot the author.

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday!

PhilippinesWhat did I do wrong?

I like this explanation.

Aww, thanks Some Old Guy...let's see if this will help the OP..:)

The previous posts of the Caucasians who married or are married to Pinays crack me up. Geeze, we can be "irrational", we know that. We try to make it up after tampo though. :)
prep.macFemalePhilippines2011-07-17 14:06:00
PhilippinesWhat did I do wrong?
I am a Pinay. Tampo is an offshoot of being hurt rather than being angry. It will last for a day or 2 then everything's good again especially if an apology happened or when she realized that she was at fault. Oh did anyone mention "PMS"?lol!

Thowing things or making "dabog" though is tantrum - a childish behavior. Yes, it is saying "I need attention" and / or " I want to hurt you or me". Still, it is immaturely bratty. :)

Could be medications. Could be cultural. Could be she was just finding a reason to get out of the relationship. Or could be she wants to "breathe"?

You need to make her understand she is your wife. You are the man of the house. Show her you care but not too much. :) That could prolly be a reason why she is bratty too. Don't spoil her too much. She needs to "woman up".

She can make tampo or little dabog but no way she should try to be violent. That is not cultural. That is personal.

My thoughts. Hope things are getting better?

Philippinesmy interview today

Congrats!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Great feeling walking out of the embassy with APPROVED on the papers!!!

Not really, many only visit one time and get approved. Just have evidence of a continuing and ongoing relationship be it Skype logs or whatever method you use to stay in touch. Be confident and upbeat at the interview.

Whew! Thanks! I was kind of worried about that because even though my fiance wanted to spend more time with me here, he only gets 2 weeks vacation from work every year. We have a lot of evidence and God is on our side :), so we will be fine. :) :) :)

I got approved! :) thanks to those who posted helpful experiences here, really helpful!!! i updated my timeline for everyone for the interview review! Thank you Lord! :)

But i have to make sure first that USEM has already my file/case before an online visa appointment..

Yes. Someone here scheduled an interview on June 1 but when she got there the CO said they didn't have her files yet. So she went home, e-mailed the Embassy after a week and when they confirmed that they have her files already, she set another interview.

PhilippinesNBI again!

Yeah! I really do hope they can give us info regarding this matter...

I will take this opportunity also to ask you about Packet 3 and 4...Do you have already an idea about this?

You don't have to wait for packets 3 & 4. Once you have your case number, go to bpi and pay the visa fee. You can download the instruction (i think that's the packet 3) on the website of US Embassy Manila. You may want to e-mail the US Embassy first if they have your file before setting an appointment for interview, or you can just set an appointment but allow a week or two for the embassy to have your file on their database.
