Hello everybody,

i just wanted to know how long will it take for NOA2.
we got the NOA1 on 25th march. so how long will it take.
also in the time between what documents can we start preparing so everything is ready by the time we get the NOA2 ?

Pay attention, non-EP NVC noobs. Here's Christeen's time tested formula to get you through NVC in one piece alive:
Petitioner: Get NVC # + give operator your email IDs + receive AOS fee bill + pay 70$ online + wait to show paid + print cover sheet + send I-864 AOS with all documents and case # written on each page.

Beneficiary: Get NVC# + receive DS3032 + send DS3032+ DS3032 accepted + IV fee bill available to be paid + pay & wait to show paid + print IV cover sheet + mail DS230 package with all original/certified documents

= wait for case complete + wait for interview to be scheduled.

Suggestions:
1) Have the beneficiary mail SIGNED extra DS230s to you so that you have them handy in case something goes wrong. Or you get hit by a dreaded RFE.

2) If you just received your NOA2, THIS is the time to get your tax stuff and police certificates sorted out. Don't waste time on this.

3) Double check the PCC requirements in the regional forums as they are country specific.

4) Check the pinned STUPID RFEs thread in IR-1/CR-1 forum before sending in your packages.

5) Mail your DS230 package to your USC spouse as soon as you get your NOA2. That way he/she can overnight it to NVC as soon as the IV bill clears.

6) Get your taxes, employment letter, paystubs, PCCs, civil documents etc. while you wait for the NOA2.

Currently the # of business days NVC is taking:
3-4 days for NVC to receive your case and assign a case #.
3-4 days to receive emailed links after case # has been assigned and email addresses been given to NVC operator.
1-2 days for the AOS bill to show as PAID.
1-3 days for DS3032 to be accepted.
1-2 days for IV bill to be PAID.
8-11 days for case complete after all your documents have been sent in.

Regarding the AOS package:
First thing, I would recommend is that you print out the I-864 form and read the instructions about 2 times. Mark out the relevant portions and ask any questions you might have after that. I would suggest you read the guides for a comprehensive idea about how the AOS packet will comprise.

Recommended AOS package:

I-864 Coversheet (with barcode) for payment of $70
Form I-864 (signed and dated)
2009 Federal Tax Return/W2 and 1099s or IRS tax transcript.
2008 Federal Tax Return and W2 and 1099s or IRS tax transcript.
2007 Federal Tax Return/W2 and 1099s or IRS Tax Transcript
Letter of Employment
Pay stub(s) from the most recent six months
Bank Statements.

Remember, the USC petitioner will file a I-864 regardless of income. If your joint sponsor lives in the same household as the petitioner, then they will use I-864A. If they live in a separate residence, then they will fill in another I-864.
For your joint sponsor you will need proof of their citizenship/residency. For household member, you will need proof of relationship and same household/residence.

A guide to the DS230 packet for Indian beneficiaries.
--Cover sheet for Immigrant Visa Bill of $400.
--Two (2) Passport Size Photographs of Beneficiary (Beneficiary's full name, and date of birth are written on back of both).
--DS-230 Part 1 completed and signed by beneficiary.
--DS-230 Part 2 completed by beneficiary, unsigned, as of yet, per instructions.
--Original Marriage certificate
--Photocopy of Marriage Certificate
--Original Birth Certificate
--Photocopy of Birth Certificate
--Original Police Clearance Certificate from Local Police Station, Calcutta
--Original Police Clearance Certificate from Regional Passport Office, Calcutta
--Photocopy of beneficiary's Indian passport.

So now my husband would just need to send me the completed 864Aform and supporting documents along with it here, and i have to assemble everything (DS3032,etc) and mail all that to the embassy when the time comes. There is no role of emailing from the beneficiary's and petitioner's addresses here,? as i often read posts about emailing from their respective addresses

India is not eligible for EP.

You will need to mail hard copies with supporting documentation in during the NVC stage.

Get a headstart by reading the guides and having those documents ready.

Can anybody tell me if Electronic Processing option is available at Mumbai consulate(India)
I m waiting for my NOA2. Meanwhile i need to know if EP option is available shall i keep the documents scanned and ready so that i have them ready to mail it to the embassy or do i have to send them the hard copies of different forms like DS 3032,864,.. etc ?

It would be better and safe to tell your spouse to sign a few blank forms like G-325A and DS-230 Signed and mail them back to you.

It should be signed with a pen and not just scan the signature.

I had signed the forms and mailed them to my husband before he sent the I130 file.

I think you need both the certificates for NVC to complete your case. In case you give only one, they might give you an RFE for it.You can try to get the PCC showing your passport clearance certificate.

Please update your timeline so others can get an idea about the approval estimation.

You need both the certificates for submitting it to the NVC. But if you do not get the Passport clearance certificate without the appointment letter, you can mention it in the cover letter with the other documents you send to the NVC.

Simply send a photo copy of your marriage certificate. You will be asked for the original at a later stage.

Be prepared to wait for NOA2 from 3months upto 5 months. If you are lucky you may get it in even less than 3 months.

I called the embassy today and talked to the same female operator that I spoke to last week... I used a different method on her this time.. instead of extreme panic and frustration i was cool and calm :thumbs: She told me that our case is under mandatory administrative processing, it is being reviewed now and to call back the end of the week or begining of next week... <sigh> humm...she also said that each case is different with different processing times, some take shorter amount of times compared to others..<is that a glimmer of hope> what she didnt say was 4-6 weeks like last week :thumbs:

Hey yes you can apply for local police certificate.
I too got it from baroda only. It will take 2 weeks no matter who many links you have so i suggest you apply for it and keep it ready. I got it on 12th june so quite a while before i got my NOA2.

As far as Ahmedabad office is concerned i think we will get it by showing them the checklist from NVC.
If not, last option is to show them the RFE and then get it.

Hello VJers.
I have a question for everyone and am wondering if anyone in the US knows how to get this issue resolved. Currently, my birth certificate has my dad's name spelled one way, my citizenship certificate has it one way and my passport i just go with the first letter. I have been using the last one as standard in all documents but i want to create an affidavit showing that all three are indeed me just my dad's name is spelled different. Here is an example:

Suneetkumar - on birth certificate
Sunit - on naturalization certificate.
S - on passport, license and all other bills.


I mean i submitted my I130 and I know i will be hit with a RFE for that issue. So i want to create an affidavit ahead of time and was wondering if anyone knows how to get that done.

I had the same problem.
Like for eg: In my birth certificate it is Rameshbhai, whereas in passport it is Rameshkumar
My dad already has an affidavit in his name stating that all the following names and aliases used are valid.
it contains that all the following names used are accepted and valid
rameshbhai
ramesh
rameshkumar.

Hello everyone

My husband and I are preparing our I864 documents. i m confused about what if the petitioner made 12000-14000$ in the year 2008 and 2009 till April 2010
However from May 2010 onwards the monthly income is around 2500$ after taxes.

So should we use a co-sponsor or his current income would be fine ? I m asking because his income of previous years and its subsequent taxes is less.
It is mentioned that last 6 months pay subs should be submitted but we only have his pay checks for the current job that is from May to July.would it be okay ?
His bank balance is maintained at around 25000$ consistently for the last 2 years. Should we submit that as well ?

Please advise.

we are submitting I864 form when the bill shows as paid.
In question 21(a) we have entered one (my husband sponsoring me)
so again in 21© (If you are currently married, enter 1 for your spouse ) do we have to enter one or leave it blank. I m confused in this part.

In ques 23. current individual annual income will be shown with or without taxes ?

Therefore my husband is only sponsoring me with no dependants so the total household size will be 2 ?

If beneficiary lives in baroda, than for local pcc it will take around 2 weeks. Another 2 weeks for Passport PCC. (which is hard to get because you won't have interview letter or checklist letter at this point from NVC, and dillema is that you will have to first submit DS-230 with all supporting docuemnts including passport PCC. So my advise is to, don't apply for passport pcc at this point, just send out everything with DS-230 but include a cover letter that stats that you were unable to obtain pcc at this point....once nvc will look at all documents, they will issue checklist letter of missing docuemnts (pcc)...take this letter to passport office and get your PASSPORT PCC.....good luck.


No that is not true.
You can get the Passport PCC by showing them the cover letter which you get after you pay the AOS bill.

Folks from Gujarat please get aware on this and not waste your time waiting for the RFE to get the PCC.

I m from gujarat and i went to ahmedabad passport office yesterday to get the PCC.

First of all they did not let me in without the checklist, when i showed them the document cover sheet which gets generated after we paid the AOS fee bill they let me in. After that i stood in the freaking line for like 45 mins. then when my turn came they told me to get my husband's name in my passport that is to make a new passport in itself. what the heck is that ??

Then they took fees of 2800 rs for tatkal passport and 300 for PCC they have told that i will get both the new passport and the PCC in that in 4-5 days.
So finally i m over with this hoping to get my passport and pcc by saturday.

You can pay your fees online.

Refer to the email from NVC, in that you will have your invoice ID number, you have to use that and your NVC case number.

Once you pay the fees online and after it shows paid you can print the cover letter and send the remaining documents (i864 and DS-230)
Paying all the fees online will save your time.
