You do not need to "register" your marriage certificate in the US. A legal marriage ceremony performed overseas is valid in the US as long as it is within the confines of applicable law.

sorry for the "wrong spelling" tried to correct but i couldnt find the EDIT.. anyway, so even if we're married overseas does this mean we already have the record in states if my husband is going to get a copy?

No, as he is the petitioner it will not be an issue. They may ask you about it at interview to make sure you know, but other than that, not a problem.

thank you for the info :)

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedurespetitioner has a criminal record.. does this cause a big problem of our visa application?
Hi everyone - first of I would ask for no judgment to be passed on my partner as I am after advice only

My husband and I applied the CR1 spouse visa. I am filipina, and he's a US citizen. Problem is, He has quite a record. we applied our CR1 visa last May 31 2012 and he was caught of bringing 2 joints last febuary and last july 28 was caught driving bike without helmet.. both are in Missouri..and few years ago was caught of having a fight in TX but was already drop, so im not really worried about his few years criminal records.. just this 2 previous cases are still on going.. he was charge a probation for a year and 40 hours of community service but cant join this CS since he's working in an offshore, he has a lawyer who's working on this now to help him about this... he's not really from Missouri, he's just passing by head to IL or in TX by bike or by car.....Ok.. so it sounds TERRIBLE. Never been charged for sex related crimes, drug trafficking, murder or anything crazy like that..but due to the rest of his record, it didn't look good one bit.

My record is clear. Never been arrested!! Now.. will this cause him issues to file a petition? He has a job, a house and has cleaned himself up quite well, i am very proud :) But will this cause any problems? I really hope it doesn't... cross fingers.. coz i noticed that most may filers already have the NOA2 ... hoping we will have ours soon too...

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresInterview Scheduled but no word on Singapore Police Certificate requirement
i have the same question :( but i email the "SPF CID COC (SPF)" <SPF_CID_COC@spf.gov.sg> about how are we going to get a COC and will they give us a Police clearance... this is what they told me :

Dear Sir/Mdm

I refer to your preceding e-mail of 9 July 2012.

Please be informed that The Singapore Police Force has cease issuing the Certificate of Conduct (COC) to non-Singapore Citizens with effect from 18 Oct 2010.

However, you are allowed to submit an appeal for COC for Head Criminal Records consideration.

Please take note that appeal will take around 10 working days to process. We will notify you the outcome of the appeal and the documents to be sent for processing the application. Alternately, you may check the status for appeal after 10 working days.

Attached is the appeal form for you to fill in and revert to us via this e-mail with:

1. Photocopy of documentary proof to establish your period of stay in Singapore for a continuous period of six months or more. (E.g.work permit identification card, testimonial letter from school or employer, arrival & departure endorsement in passport etc).

2. Official letter from US authority requesting for police clearance.

Upon completion of Certificate of Clearance, we will be mailed it directly to the requesting authority via registered mail.

Payment can be made by bank draft from Bank of the Philippine Island.

Should you require further assistance or clarification, please contact the Certificate of Clearance (COC)/Records Office at telephone numbers (+65) 64358275 (+65) 64358277) or (+65) 65573985.

Yours sincerely

as for me, i guess you need to ask a request form to the USEM here in Philippines, since u already have the case # in manila. Few of the Filipinas who went to SG were not asked about the COC during their interview but some did :(, maybe some consul are already aware that not all can be given, it depends. thats why it bothers me a lot if i still need to get or not, since it's not easy to have a COC, singapore is very strict. :( hope you can also help me and inform me after your wife is done having her interview. how long is your wife working in SG?

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Proceduresdays pregnant & still waiting for the NOA2

Our case is a bit different than yours only becausef we are applying for K1 visa everything else should apply. My finance is also pregnant (6 months now) and she went to get her physical last week. They used a lead blanket to protect the baby when having X-rays and she had to sign a waiver because she couldnt have some shots (because the pregnancy) but she might get them after the baby is born when she is in USA. One thing we did was I sent her a notarized letter stating that I was aware of the pregnancy and aknoleging that I am the father. This letter has to be the original no copies. I don't know if you will need that since you are already married.
As you can see there is no problem at all. The only inconvenience is having to travel or move while pregnant and if you want to have your baby born in USA it will be a race against the clock but it looks like you have plenty of time to spare compared to us that we are running out of time quick but we are fighting the odds and we are still planning to have our baby born in USA God whiling.
Good luck, don't worry too much and enjoy your pregnancy. Best thing you can do is inform yourself Keep on asking questions. There are plenty of good people that will help you.

Regards.
Bhes&Heri

One more thing.....our best proof of our love to the world is our baby :)

thank you so much.,. i told my husband if they want any prrof i am eager to have my baby a DNA test :) but i think letter is fine.. :) i am really hoping to have the NOA2 soon so i will deliver the baby soon.. now i knew that it wont be a problem during my xray.. then im so happy now :)

I ALSO LIKE TO THANK EVERYONE FOR THE REPLIES OF MY POST... YOU GUYS HELP ME A LOT :)

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Proceduresdays pregnant & still waiting for the NOA2

Being pregnant will not cause any problems with the immigration process itself. If the baby comes before the interview, your husband will have to file a Consular Report of Birth Abroad (CRBA) so the baby can be issued a US passport.

thank you for your reply.. what if i still dont have the baby during the interview?i mean im still pregnant during my interview? i sure be 4 or 5 months if ill be having my interview... what should i do? and how about my medical exam?

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresNOA1(maiden name) -> NOA2 (married name)
hello VJ friends, first i'd like to thanks everyone for always helping me or even comforting me while im waiting for me NOA2's approval from USCIS..

i have another question, before we started to process our I130 for the CR1 visa.. i asked our lawyer what name should i use? is it my married name or my maiden name since i already have our marriage certificate but i havent change my passport name yet.. and she answered that it's ok if im going to use my maiden name since i havent change my passport yet, then she told me once i use the maiden name im gonna use it for the whole processing, so it wont be messy and confusing, and can change it later when i am already in america. Now i met a friend here in VJ who used her maiden name while applying the I130 for NOA1 and change it after she received her NOA2. She just attached her old passport using her maiden name and a photocopy of her new passport with her married name..and some of the requirements just to prove that her maiden name and marriage name are one. and that's what i wanted to do as well. i just want all your suggestions and opinions about this. since i met her, i did not waist time, most of my papers that i collected while waiting for my NOA2 are all in married name. my NBI, Police certificate, Passport, and even my CFO certificate. i do hope this will be ok :( im just worried that the NVC will bother my papers by changing my name. :(

i look forward for any of your opinions my vj friends. thanks :)

What slows you down is having to send all of your documents to the lawyer and then having them send them to NVC, instead of sending them directly there yourself. Calling NVC isn't going to slow anything down.

i told my husband about that earlier but both of us dont know how to file it alone during the NOA1 so we hire her.. and now that this VJ site helps me to understand... i regret of having her and wants her fired but we already paid her full and we dont want to waste our money so we want her to work for everything... its just weird coz i want her to explain it to me about the next process during the NVC but all she replied to me is just dont call the NVC, coz it will take everything slow.. which i dont believe...

thank you so much for all your replies... now i want my husband to call the NVC so we can have the case # and IIN asap...

it's really weird after all my long message to my lawyer she just replied me this "Please don't call the NVC, it just slows things down." it means she dont want us to bug the NVC to have our NVC case # as well as IIN..ppffff......

she keeps us telling NOT TO CALL COZ IT MAKE THINGS SLOW, she even told us not to call the USCIS, but 2 days after my hubby called, we we're approved... so ridiculous! I kept telling her what i learned in VJ site and as well as in here... but she use to tell me the opposite... hhmmmm.... which one should i believe? the poeple's experiences and advice or hers? :(
