K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI-129f approved waiting for NVC
I recieved my NOA2 on May 9. I started calling NVC after two weeks went by. This past Friday, June 8, I called and said that a month had gone by now, and they still had nothing to tell me. The person then gave me an e-mail address to send in a request about my case. The e-mail address is nvcresearch@state.gov., they said include a scan of my NOA2 notice, which I did. I did get an automated reply when I sent the e-mail, that they received my e-mail. So now I will see what that does for me. I'm hoping that they are just taking a month or more to get to all the new K1 cases right now. I remember that one of my earlier calls, they did say there was a large influx of cases from USCIS in May..... good luck to all of us waiting .... I almost feel like requesting the leaders of this community take out their wording about "Things move faster now, welcome to the Department of Stete" in the K1 Guide  .....about this stage...

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresVermont to NVC - Slowwww!
It is taking a long time! Got my NOA2 on May 9. After many calls to NVC with no results  , sent an e-mail to NVCresearch.state.gov, and got this replay today (yeah!). So at least its "en route" to NVC.....my friend in the office here theorizes that it's being hand carried on foot by those little bitty guys on Men in Black, and they are stopping at a few bars along the way.....

Dear Sir/Madam:

Please be advised that the National Visa Center (NVC) contacted U.S.
Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS) to locate your approved
petition. USCIS has informed the NVC, that your petition is en route to
the NVC. Once we have received your petition, the appropriate agent
will receive further instructions within 6 to 8 weeks.

Sincerely,

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresThis Type Of Proof Of Relationship
I've learned so much about bringing evidence to the interview, and how much it's looked at, by reading on Visa Journey. My Fiancee and I are through the NOA2 approval point, so now she is getting ready for the eventual interview day (Guangzhou, China Embassy). I have tried to tell her to relax, but she wants to leave nothing to chance, bless her heart! :P She has printed over 100 pages of Yahoo chat, many, many, photos, she wants me to bring 3 years tax returns, and a whole year of pay stubs and bank account records. I have learned from VJ that this is a bit of overkill  , but it makes her feel more certain, so I am going along. It just means we will have a lot of "dead weight" going along with us to the interview. I do love her so much!(L) Good luck to you finishing your Journey!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresK1 - three weeks since NOA2, NVC still has not received my petition
Funny, I've been thinking about that myself, so I asked about that on "today's" phone session (I call daily now). I mentioned they have already used up almost half my time left to get this Visa done. The guy on the phone from NVC said "no problem getting an extention, it will show the date we entered the case...." Somehow, knowing that doesn't make me feel any better.....

Just got off the phone with NVC, still don't have my petition from CSC, 47 days and counting - will be 7 weeks on Wednesday.

Forgive me, but 3 weeks is nothing!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresThis Cannot Be Done... But We Need You To Do It
Your Fiancee will get a hard copy of OF-169 when she gets her packet 3, along with form DS230, which also has a part that should be filled in with Native Chinese. She will need to return both of these forms, along with a copy of the Bio part of her Passport (photo page). Everything else she bings to the interview.

Even if you fill in the forms for her, and then mail them to her for her to send them in to GUZ, she will still have to sign them both first, so at that time she could print in the Chinese part.

I am finally getting into the same phase as you with my K1. Best Regards

Good question. I keep sending all these great reviews to my Fiancee, and she says she doesn't want to see them (doesn't want to expect so easy!). I assume, and know, that VJ would post even all the bad reviews. Thanks

My Fiancee wroter her letter of intent, using Chinese custom of surname first, given name second (we made sure all forms were filled out correctly), and we got our NOA2 approval just fine.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresIs Name Change Required
Thanks for bringing this up, and I'm glad to see what I would have thought anyway, that it is no problem at all. My Fiancee is considering the same thing (sticking with Chinese custom on not changing her name), although she has not decided yet, and I am perfectly fine with whatever she decides to do. Good luck on your Journey!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresDS156 Question 18
I have a question about the DS156. Question 18. "Spouse's Full Name (Even if Divorced or Separated). Of course, my Fiancee currently has no spouse. On the example filled out form on VJ, the person was never married. Does my Fiancee, who was divorced some years ago, put down her previous spouse's name here, and his DOB on question 19? Thanks.

Thanks, perfect timing for us would be the last week of August or first week of September. Flight prices drop a lot then. Like A&B, I plan on being there for the interview (even though can't go in), for moral support, and to deliver some of the Docs she needs.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresGot Approved!!!!!!!! Need advice!!!!
My petition was in a group, that in early May, after they got the NOA2 approval, the CSC did a stupid thing and sent a bunch to the wrong place, so it added a lot of extra time getting it to the NVC. Your time from NOA2 to NVC should go much faster, but I think there is still a log jam at NVC now getting cases assigned, because all the misdirected ones are finally there now, in addition to the normal influx. Good luck with the rest of your journey!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresGot Approved!!!!!!!! Need advice!!!!
Congratulations!

It may go fast from the NVC to your Embassy, to packet 3, but there is also a time from USCIS approval notice to NVC receiving.

For us, it took 55 excrutiating days from our NOA2 approval notice from CSC until NVC finally says "we have your case" , and gave it a case number.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFiance Visa Question
Follow the K1 Visa guide here on VJ, as already mentioned, it's a terrific guide! Also, wouldn't hurt to attach (frontload) as much evidence of relationship as you can include with your petition (mentioned in the guide). That will reduce chances you are delayed by any RFEs from USCIS. Good Luck on your Journey!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresTraveling when k1 visa is issued to get married in another usa state
http://www.weddingof...gelicensewi.htm

Out-of-state residents desiring to be married in Wisconsin may
apply for a license in any county, but then must be married
within that county.

Looks like out of state can even get married in Wisconsin - they just have to apply for the marriage license in the specific county in which they plan to marry .....

Don't know about Albania, but for China, for packet 3 you do not send in the DS156m DS156K or DS157 or I-134. These you bring to the interview. You do send in DS230 with packet 3 in China. Maybe Albania is different?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI-94 Arrival/Departure Form
Hi Gegel and A&B,

Am I reading two different opinions here? Gegel, you say USA, but A&B, it seems by saying "not living in the now, not the future", she would put China down.

A&B, BTW, waiting for interview date, but Ying did send in the P3 now, so should know very soon.

Thanks

Oops, meant in the present, not future.....

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI-94 Arrival/Departure Form
AT POE, K-1 Fiancee will fill out the I-94 "White Form" - Arrival/Departure Record, which they will need later for other things like SSN and AOS. Have you noticed, it has a question 4. Country of Citizenship, which of course, their home county would still be the answer, but the usual confusing and ambiguous US form question, is question 8. "Country where you live" - would they now put "US" there, even though they haven't actually started living here yet. They will no longer be living in the country they are entering from......Thanks

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresDelay Concerns ( K1 Visa )
Assuming you are in the K1 process.

When you get your NOA2, it will come with it's own valid time (4 months) until the visa is issued. I hear that time can easily be extended by DOS if time from NOA2 to Visa takes longer.

The 90 days clock only starts ticking after visa issuance at POE into the US.

I said "some" of the strongest evidence, not the strongest evidence. Of course actual time spent together is the strongest evidence! So I don't think I heard wrong.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresK-1 visa concerns
I'm sure you got some pictures of when you met with her parents, and I've heard that is some of the strongest evidence that can be presented, and you already have that (I didn't meet my Fiancee's parents until my third visit). So maybe one visit is on pretty safe ground, because you have that visit with the parents?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresK-1 visa concerns
Another visit obviously won't make the case any stronger to get NOA2 from USCIS, but it couldn't hurt to be able to claim two visits at the interview, when that time comes, as pushbrk mentions, (plus you will enjoy seeing your fiancee again!:D ). See most recent Guangzhou review by jregister (for K1 visa, BTW), question 4, she mentions, was about visits of fiance to China (she answered twice). Not saying it's necessary, but it couldn't hurt, and you would enjoy it obviously (if it's something your budget can handle). Best wishes on your journey.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNow totally confused
When I was looking at how to do the Visa, I mentioned to a close friend about looking at Attorney's, and he said "No No No! You will be wasting your money, and it will take longer! - You can do it yourself!" He had brought in a Fiancee from Russia. So I bought a book on how to do it myself, then I found this Visa Journey community online. This community is fantastic, they have great guides and example forms, and the posting memebers give great advice I don't think an Attorney can match, anyway. That's my feelings.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresK1 Visa Extension
You are correct, the 90 days of the Visa does not start ticking until the POE. I think you should have 6 months from the issuance of teh Visa, to use it to enter.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNA02 Approved woohoo!
Congratulations!

I never really stressed at all while waiting for my NOA2, because I knew in advance that the initial USCIS part would take 5 months. So I was expecting that (Actually beat 5 months by a couple of weeks).

What has been frustrating and stressful for many of us posting on the VJ site the past month, is that after our NOA2 approvals, we all expected about a 2 to 3 week gap until we had our case number with NVC, based on historical timelines, but suddenly many of us have been waiting for 5 or 6 weeks for any news at the NVC. The California service Center seems to have been especially guilty of a delay in forwarding petitions to NVC lately.

Hopefully things with USCIS and NVC get working more efficiently, and your wait for a case number at NVC is not long.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresChild Follow-to-join on K2 within one year question
Dear VJ members, I have a question about a child follwoing. I was planning on sending this question to the Embassy in Guangzhou as soon as they get my case from NVC (have the NOA2 approval, but waiting on NVC at this point). Here is the question: My Fiancee's son wants to "follow-to-join" on her K1 visa within a year. The thing is, he wants to finish his middle school this coming school year (living with her Ex), and then will follow to join next June. He would then start his high school years here in the states with us. I anticipate an interview date for my Fiancee sometime in August. So if he doesn't follow-to-join until next June, that is 9 months later. I know he can get a K2 within a year of her K1, but if he went for the K2 right away (same time as her), would he have only the six month limit-of-use time frame like her K1, and would he therefore need to wait about four or five months to apply for his K2 based on her K1, so that next June would fall within a six month time frame, or is a K2, once issued, good for the entire year? Any insight is much appreciated!
