K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresG-325A Question concering ex-wifes name
QUOTE (Jonboyusmc @ Feb 4 2008, 09:40 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
My ex-wife's name was Jacobson-Smith when I married her, Her maiden name is Smario, which one do I use on my G-325A when I send it off. I'm going to file this week, and it's the only real question I have now. Can anyone help me out. I don't want an RFE for something so trivial.

THANKS!!!!!!!!!!

OK, my bad!!!!!! I meant on the I-129f NOT the g-325a. It says to use her maiden name on that form. Can someone please help??????

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresG-325 -- Am I a complete IDIOT???
Also I see that nobody mentioned that you will need to make 3 complete original sets of both the I-129F AND G-325A forms. One for USCIS, one for your fiance, and most important one set for yourself, just in case of an RFE. I made a sample set also, so I could make mistakes on it, and not my original sets.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNOA1 Hard copy recieved, Now what???
We got our NOA1 in the mail today. My question is what do we do now?? I have my fiance working on getting her passport, but can she be getting documents in the mean time, while we wait for the approval. Are there any Philippine specific things she can be doing while we wait? I am going to send her to CFO after her medical in Manila, so that's covered. Can I start getting my financial papers in line, or do they have to be fairly current when I am asked for them. Sorry for the questions but I couldn't get the search function to work right. Thanks in advance for any and all info!!!!

We were touched today also. I hope CSC is getting some pressure on them due too VSC out-performing them on a regular basis

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWhat EXACTLY does USCIS check on????
Like the topic says, what EXACTLY are the service centers checking on during a K-1 visa petition?? Do they validate that all your papers are correct? Do they do a background check? I am just curious as to what actually happens there with all the paperwork we send.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresDisparity Between VSC and CSC and
It's very disheartening to see couples that filed only 1 month before you at VSC get approved, knowing full well that I will probably still be waiting for NOA2 AFTER their wedding. The sad part for me is that I served this country with honor. I still wear the scars both physical and emotional. I've never asked for anything in return. I will get to watch other people pass me by in this visajourney, that have no idea the sacrifices I made for this country. It's really a shame how the people that actually defended this country are forgotten about so quickly.
Sorry, just my little addition to the rant

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresService centers slow downs
I am a USC by birth, and a combat veteran by choice. Obviously, I have no rights in some peoples eyes. I'll still keep my opinion to myself. Some people have already made their own assumptions. A wise gunnery sargeant once told me, "Assumptions are the mothers of all F**k-ups"

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresService centers slow downs
I made a simple observation, and passed it along to the community here. YES, I have an opinion but I will keep it to myself. I was suggesting that it takes considerable man hours to process some 15,000+ visas, which in turn could be a reason for the current slow downs in processing. At no point did I complain or whine. I merely stated a fact and quote from USCIS's website. You can twist and contort this to whatever end you like, as I really don't care. mellow.gif mellow.gif

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresService centers slow downs
I just read this on the USCIS.

http://www.uscis.gov...00045f3d6a1RCRD

It looks like they have been putting Iraqi refugees ahead of the American citizens.

Since the program began last spring, a total of 27,940 Iraqi individuals have been referred for resettlement to the USRAP. USCIS has interviewed 18,926 Iraqi refugee applicants, approved 13,067 for resettlement and 6,480 Iraqi refugees have arrived in the U.S. as of June 4, 2008.

I'll refrain from any further comments, so I don't get myself in trouble again innocent.gif

I think it has something to do with the country of origin of the fiance. I don't see any third world visas being processed that fast, only European and canadian

PhilippinesMail Delay in the Philippines
I sent my fiance a package for Christmas, on Dec 7, and she still hasn't received it. It had some christmas cards, and a used cell phone and charger. I should have just brought it with me. I am leaving Jan 10 to meet her for the first time. Never had any problems with packages before.

Philippinesincrease in medical fee's
OH WELL!! It's only money. I look at it this way, they can raise their prices all they want, but they can't put a price on being with my girl. That is absolutely PRICELESS!!!
Jon-n-MichelleMalePhilippines2008-02-23 23:14:00
PhilippinesWhat is the current terminal fee at ninoy aquino airport?
Terminal fee at Ninoy Aquino is P750. At least it was in January when I left. They also take American money to. $18.50 if I remember right.

PhilippinesVisa Seekers Map of Manila
Could you please add PRISM and CFO to the map. I plan on sending my fiance to her CFO seminar when she has her medical. I'll be returning there for the interview and getting her CFO stamp. I don't know where these places are in relationship to our hotel.

PhilippinesPassport application
My fiance applied for her passport about 2 weeks ago. They told her it wouldn't release until April 14. The DFA website says it only takes 14 days regular, or 7 days to expedite it. Why the difference? She filed in CDO, if that makes a difference. I'd like to hear from some of the ladies here on how long it took to get their passport.

PhilippinesCall for Congressman
I did the same thing. Called my congressman, and complained about the disparity between the service centers. She (the aide) told me that CSC is the "overflow" center for all the other centers. That includes NSC and TSC. So, when they get behind, they dump their excess onto CSC. Which makes petitions that have been sitting for too long, even sit LONGER!!!! K-1's seem to take the least priority on the list, unfortunately. I thought my congressman would be a big help, because he has a foreign wife, but that wasn't the case. He's not running for another term, so he is doing pretty much, nothing until his term runs out. I would call my senator, but he is too busy running for president (Obama). Not that he's done anything for the state of Illinois in the first place.

PhilippinesDS form questions
I was wondering if we could fill out the online DS-156 form before we get our NOA2 or will that screw things up. I'm just trying to stay one step ahead of the game. We're hoping to see our NOA2 in the next 3-4 weeks. Also, do we need to fill out the DS-230? I don't see mention of it in the Manila K-1 visa guide thread. Thanks in advance for any and all help.

PhilippinesTampo
Dont call her. I put my foot down and said that tampo was childish. I told her marriage is for adults and if she wants to be like that, she can stay in the Phils. I dont let my kids have temper tantrums. I'm SURE not going to let my adult wife have them.

Philippinesmonth of cheapest flights TO the Philippines?
September/October is the cheapest I've seen so far. I am planning on scheduling our interview for early Sept. About $500 cheaper flying in Sept vs. August. Try cheapoair.com I used them last time I flew. I flew NWA, and they were $130 cheaper than what I could book through NWA direct.

Ill be sure to fill up my timeline.

So aside from the $131 fees at the USE is there anything else that needs to be paid there ?

You need to pay the visa fee BEFORE you go to the embassy. Here's a link to the doc. explaining which bank you can pay it at.

PhilippinesHeaded to the Philippines
I was on Mindanao in January, and found the people for the most part to be very friendly. I only had one tense moment, but thankfully our jeepney pulled up at just the right time. Just be alert to your surroundings, and trust your girl. She will know how to take care of you the best. Definitely don't go wandering around after dark. Like it was said before, most of the problems are in southwest Mindanao. I wouldn't go near Marawi if you paid me. LOL
Jon-n-MichelleMalePhilippines2008-07-05 23:01:00
PhilippinesCheap airfare for August
You can try cheapoair.com, but Rodge is right. There is about a $500 difference in price from the end of August, to the beginning of September. Thats why we are scheduling interview for the beginning of Sept. I'll save the extra money and use it for the wedding.

Philippinesgetting married in the usa or philippines
I think it really depends on what service center you will be using. K-1's are faster at VSC, while the K-3's seem to take forever. It's just the opposite for CSC. K-3's are much quicker, while K-1's seem to take an eternity. (July 7 will be 150 days in the dark for us.) I'd do a little research, and reading on processing times on whatever service center you will have to use. We are going to have a civil wedding when she gets here, but after her GC arrives, we will travel back to the Phils, so we can have a proper BIG wedding in front of her family and friends.

I still don't get it anyway. NSO has to verify documents that were originally issued by NSO????? #######!!!! Then they have to use an inept courier service to send the documents from USEM to NSO and then back???? I still want to know who owed who a big favor, because this part of the process is just.............STUPID!!!!!!

QUOTE (timcass_12 @ Jul 17 2008, 12:59 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Unfortunately, USEM no longer accept visa pick-up request eversince they increased the visa delivery rate. You'll just have wait a little more and pray that your fiance gets a pink slip only which basically means that she'll get her visa sooner. Good luck good.gif

I haven't read of anyone requesting visa pick-up at USEM anymore. Can this still be done, or has it been done away with. I am going to schedule our interview for 8 weeks after we pay Delbros, in hopes that the doc ver will be done in that time. I've read too many Delbros horror stories over the past 5 months. I would really like to take them out of the loop as much as possible. I want my fiance to be able to fly home with me after the interview, and I am only giving myself a 2 week window. If anyone can shed some light on this, I would really appreciate it.

hi there!

I think you can still request a visa pick up at your CO, a verbal request is fine.

Please check this link http://www.visajourn...howtopic=129059

hope it will help!

God Bless !

THANKS!!!!! I guess we better plan on staying in Manila, instead of going to Mindanao. I really wanted to spend more time with her family, since I really don't care for Manila

PhilippinesCongrats to the Philippines Embassy on K1 processing time
Thats good news, since we will be going to interview within the next 2 months. Now all they need to do, is to cure the Delbros debacle. I think it pushes the "visa in hand" number to more like 70+days. Its nice to be able to get to interview quicker, but when an inept courier service takes 5-6 weeks post-interview to deliver the visa it kind of skews the stats in my opinion.

PhilippinesInterview pending per consular officer review???
Well, I called the call center again and got the same story. Not satisfied, I called Grace (thanks for the number chris and lei smile.gif ) She looked into it and said that are case was received on Jul 18, and that Michelle WAS eligible for an interview. She found that the system was messed up and to call back to the call center after 11:00 am, and everything should be fine by then.

I called back to the call center at 11:30, and I got the same story from the guy. Even after I explained to him that I had talked to Grace, I STILL couldn't set her interview. This is really getting irritating. These call center people are idiots. The ones here at USCIS were absolutely no help either. If they aren't going to supply these people with any information, then whats the use in having them. I was told to call back tomorrow. At least Grace did tell me that USEM has already made doc request to Delbros. We paid that on monday here. I just want our interview date, so I can get my ticket bought. I have to see the rest of this process in person. Its been pure stupidity and bureaucracy up to this point.

I'll keep you posted when I learn more. Thanks for the help and support everyone good.gif

I called the call center. I'm hoping that they just haven't had time to review it. I guess I'll just wait until the 28th to call. We waited 5 months for approval from CSC, I guess 5 more days won't kill me.

Oh, this should be another fishy thing going on with call center agents. Why don't you try calling again and see? Another agent should answer you. See if they have the same answer. I read another thread from here complaining almost the same when they called the call center for interview schedule. I really doubt it's under review because once it's forwarded to USEM it would mean a go signal for interview. That's what I thought. yes.gif

I'll try calling again tomorrow. I thought thats what all the waiting at CSC was for, and then the doc verification through NSO. I thought that as soon as USEM got it, they went ahead and let you schedule an interview. They don't have any documents of hers to verify yet, and mine have already been approved by my government here. If I get the same answer tomorrow, I will bypass the call center and try to speak to Grace. I'll post when I find something out.

I just called the USEM to schedule our interview, but was told I can't yet. The paperwork is there, but I was told it's still under consular review, to see if she eligible for an interview. We got NOA2 Jul 8, NVC received Jul 14, and forwarded to Manila same day. It was delivered Jul 18. Another couple here has the exact same timeline as us, and already has their interview set. Has anyone else ran into this problem? I was told to call back 14 days after Jul 13.Its Jul 23 there now. What gives???????? Someone please enlighten me. huh.gif

PhilippinesDallas Cowboys - America's Team
I thought that they just bought that name like they did everything else back before the salary cap was implemented. rofl.gif I don't think they have been quite the dominate team once the playing field was leveled out for everyone. Just like the N.Y. Yankees buying all the talent in the world due to a seemingly endless supply of money. But with all that said, they do look like a good team again, and definitely have SB potential. They just need to calm down in the play-offs.
