PhilippinesWho among you have tried eating BALUT?
My wife always told me she wouldn't eat balut, only pinoy. On my second trip there the opportunity presented itself one evening. We were sitting on her uncle's porch drinking SMB and along came a man selling balut. I had drank at least 6 SMB by that time and told her uncle, "we gotta try some balut!". I said, Jena and I have never tried it! Her uncle said YES we must have some and we bought enough for everyone. I ate the entire thing and remember it was quite hard like it was cooked too long but the taste was good. I later found out that Jena didn't really eat the chick, only some of the egg around it. grrrr she fooled me! LOL

I also tried durian at her lola's but neither Jena nor I enjoy it.

I found a funny thing about San Miguel. You have to be carefull how you order it or they will give you SML (San Miguel light). I always drank SMB (San Miguel Beer). They charged an extra 10P for light at the hotel we stayed at near Subic Bay. If I wasn't very careful I wound up getting the light version.

Funny how they use the abbreviation for everything in Phils. My wife says BF for boyfriend and GF for girlfriend. Thats just a couple, she has many many abbreviations she actually says outloud instead of the words.

Great Voting! TOP TEN, It was a little surprising that Carly was in the bottom three tonight, and we thought for sure Christie was going home. We really didn't expect Amanda to go either. What a crazy vote! blink.gif It was completely different than last week. We don't mind the results though. Not a bad choice we think.

I'm hearing about all the violence near Iligan City. My wife's mother's family is there. We'll try to contact them tonight. Friends of ours are going through the visa process right now and she is from there also. We're praying for everyone near the violence. I stayed near Iligan City 2 years ago while visiting my wife and thank God there was no fighting while I was there.

PhilippinesUnder What Age is Parental Consent Letter Required?
My wife (fiance at the time) was 23 when she went to her CFO seminar. She went through significant trouble to get a letter from both of her parents and have it notarized. They were in two different provinces at the time but she was able to get it accomplished. When she went to the seminar in Cebu, the interviewer didn't even mention it. Of course, if she hadn't gone to all that trouble, I'm sure they would have. dry.gif

PhilippinesShame on U.s. embassy in manila
I read post 2 & 3. Considering the course this discussion has taken, I'm wondering if some people didn't believe the answers. Maybe starting a new topic would be more appropriate rather than pounding away at this poor thing.

I intend no offense. I'm just trying to point out a fact. I believe many points in this discussion are valid and well worth talking about. I'd just like to see a title that reflects what's being discussed.

Does the U.S. Embassy have anything to do with the CFO seminar at all? I thought is was a product of the Philippine government.

PhilippinesManila Embassy Interview/Visa Status
Yes, Congratulations everyone that has had success.

I was going to give the emabassy an A+ on their efficiency and constantly correct information. That was until the very very last advice we received from them. When Jena picked up her visa it went very smoothly. They called her to the window at exactly the time they told her on the phone. After she got the visa the lady mentioned her CFO stamp and gave Jena a one page print out with addresses in Manila. Jena explained that she had already taken the course and only needed the stamp. The lady told her which CFO office was the closest to the embassy so we took a cab to that address. 2nd floor of the Equitable-PCI Bank Building 2422 Taft ave. After Jena checked in I asked the guard how long she would be and he told me 2 hours. I explained that all she needed was the stamp since she already had the seminar. The guard then informed us we would need to go to Citigold Center, 1345 Pres. Quirino Ave. for the stamp.

So all in all I had to drop the grade of the embassy to an A-, but still a wonderfull job.

I guess now we have alot of extra time since our flight isn't until Tues. 17th. We may call NW and see if the have seats open on an earlier flight.

BTW, we stayed in the Boulevard Mansion for P1650 per night. Its old but not that bad. Watch out for the laundry service, it's kind of expensive.

Take care everyone and good luck to all,
See you in the USA!

PhilippinesManila Embassy Interview/Visa Status
Success at the interview!

My fiance's interview was last Friday July 6th. I am with her in Manila staying accross the street from the embassy. Everything went smoothly and at the end of the interview I presented a letter to the CO requesting that my fiance pick up the visa in person. Today she received a call from the embassy informing her that the visa will be available for pick up tomorrow! It will be 5 days total including the weekend since the interview. We are both relieved and joyfull. Thanks for all the support from the VJ community. We will be able to make our flight home next week now!

The only thing left to do here in Manila is to get the CFO stamp after she picks up the visa tomorrow. I guess we need to figure out where to go!

We are having a party for my fiance at her parents house 2 days after the interview so we are pretty optimistic that it will go well. We expect to feed about 50 people!

I just wish the interview was over now! I'm having a hard time thinking about anything else. I call my fiance twice a day now since she doesn't have a computer handy. She has to travel by boat to the cafe ! My CP bill shows it! WAAAA

Hi Guys,

Jena and I got the fight on PPV last night and invited 8 of my guy friends over to watch. They were all impressed with Manny and how fast and powerfull he is. He surely is a great fighter and a great guy too. I've been a boxing fan all my life and it's so refreshing to see just a talented fighter perform. I'm really looking forward to seeing him fight Hatten someday soon. He reminds me of some of the talented middleweights from the 70's and 80's like Haggler, Hearns, and Duran.

I had thought that the sport of boxing was about dead, but with talented fighters like Manny around, it's really worth watching.

We also watched the special on the two fighters and how they prepared for the fight. It struck me how down to earth Manny still is. He's so much different than the millionaire sports stars from the US. He was living with 10 guys in a 2 bedroom apartment here in the US while he trained.

but i move a lot when im sleeping to the point na di masyadong nakakatulog hubby pero now 3 days ko na syang di nagigising sa pag move ko kaya miracle...then we live in 21th floor so i make sure na sarado yung window namin kasi baka mag sleep walk ako gawin kong pinto ang window namin. hehehhehehe.

Sis, nakakatakot naman ang ganon, lol. I don't think I talks while I'm sleeping. One time, I told my husband that he always snores loudly espicially at night. Then, he doesn't believe me so, One day, what I did was I had my phone ready when I heard him snores loudly then I let him listened to it. He was surprised! then, I said, you know what I don't think I snores, cause sometimes I know when I starts to snore and I can stop it...LOL, Unfortunately for me, he got me snores and he also recorded it. Then, I was like... unsure.gif "I'll be darn, I was snoring...Really? was that really me? No way, that was you! Lol" then I believed him, that was freaking me! headbonk.gif

Good Day Everyone!

This could be funny and could be scary topic too! Lol, but it's just interested to know about what does your partner do while sleeping. I know snoring is just natural to anybody. I've heard that since I was young from my parents. Pssst. But this one is new for me. Since I was with my husband for almost 2 years now I've notice that he is quite funny while he sleep. He snores and he also talks while he sleeps. Sometimes I was trying to remember what he was saying but most of the time I forget it. I think he might whistling.gif sometimes too but with his eyes close, Whew. He doesn't even believe me sometimes about what he said while he's sleeping.

How about you? Share your observations. Does your partner even walk while sleeping? Come on share it don't be scared about what your partner thinks. LOl

Hi fellow VJ's its nice to know how our in-laws loves us and vice versa. My mother in law is wonderful even she is a little shy type. We talked on the phone when i was still in the Phils. We exchange cards for special occasions. We live close to her house and the first time we spent there for a night, she wanted us to sleep on her master's bedroom and she'll sleep in my husbands old room. Maybe she tought that Im so picky but I didnt let her to do that. She is now starting to teach me patiently on how to drive coz my husband said that only my mom in law can drive slow in the family, lol. I have 2 sister in law and they are cool too. The youngest which is the same age as me lives with her and the eldest lives on the next door. My husband spent the holiday in the Phil. last year and most of the stuff in his luggage were all gifts fom my in-laws. My favorite gift was the one from my mom in law, it was a cooking scrap book where you can write your own recipe or a recipe that you learn from others, because she knows that i love watching cooking shows, though Im not a good cook like her hehe. But anyway when i open the book I saw a scan picture of my husband when he was 5 years old on the first page and the rest was her shared recipe's. It was funny because i didnt even recognize the picture until my husband told me it was him. I never had a chance to meet my father in law because he left them when my husband was only 17 years old and he never bother to see them anymore even he only lives on the same town with his new family. This is the sad part too, he even ignored his kids if he see them in the store or in the street like a strangers, kinda weird but its true. My husband said he is a tough guy, he beats them when they were a kid even my mom in law so it dont matter if i dont see him coz for sure he would never care.

Hey girls, Magaganda tayong mga Filipina inside and out so stop saying you're not pretty.

Nice meeting you here Brettanne, When I was in PI, my Mom in-law sent me a photo album and it has a cute little picture with two kids. Those two kids were really really cute. Then I thought the one little kid was a girl. I realized that it was my husband when he was 4 years old. laughing.gif He really look like a very cute little girl. LOL, I really love his eyes! heart.gif

LOL, yes the picture of my husband too was like a little girl thats why i didnt recognize him. Maybe because their skin tone are really white that they look a girl hehe.
