How Long?

Hi, mine was approved a week ago and I sent NVC email asking about the interview date, and they replied as follows:
Dear Sir/Madam: Your inquiry has been received at the National Visa Center (NVC). All documentation necessary to complete the National Visa Center's processing has been received. As soon as an interview date has been scheduled, the designated representative of this case (applicant, petitioner, or attorney) will be notified. The US Embassy or Consulate General may require additional documentation at the time of the interview.

NVC made my case a month left behind due to their own error, they did a typo on email address regarding the notifications of submitting documents (during that time, we were just waiting and our attorney was too busy with his other clients) and they told my hubby when he called them that my interview would be on the second week of Nov (no exact date). It really hurts us when some people are not responsible for their own job and their mistake affect us.
So my hubby called the consulate asking if it's possible to put me in october list but they said they can't. While the supervisor of NVC told my hubby that NVC can send the package by DHL only if it's requested by the consulate. All my hubby asked was a little favor from the consulate to send email to NVC to help us, for just 5 mins of writing email.
Now I understand how the world works, I don't think I can make it to be there before Thanksgiving.

If you want to get the best idea, then look at other members' timelines that are going/went through the same embassy, and see how long it took to get their interview date from case complete. This is what I did when I got a case complete and wanted to know the average time for Canadians to get their interview date scheduled.

I don't think they will give the visa same day as interview day to your wife. They will probably ask her to go back to pick up the visa the next day or 2 days after the interview

Hello guys,

I got my wife interview date in end of august for October 5. I think NVC is going let you guys know sometime next week for November interview. NVC will send you paket 4 for IR1/CR1 by e-mail.

From my experience after interview you have 6 months to enter US before visa expires. When you pick up your passport with visa in it, they give you sealed envelope to bring to US.

Actually Binjai is not too far from my hometown mine is in Medan, the city.

Well anyway guys, please keep updated on the date ok in case, one of us already got one, so the others can catch up and ask for it to NVC and we can also share to each other our experiences at the interview

What package should I be waiting? I thought when the consulate give my passport back with the visa, they will also give me the sealed package and I will leave for the States a week after the interview

On a related note, is there any reason to bring all new signed originals of the I-864 and tax transcripts to the interview (on top of the photocopy of what was sent to NVC), especially when nothing has changed between filing with NVC and the interview?

Technically, yes, NVC sends all paperwork to consulates/embassies, but it's always a good idea to have a copy of everything you've submitted to this point and bring it to the interview "just in case".
