USCIS Service CentersPassport/Visa question
Hello Everyone,
Being my fiance is from Russia, she asked me a very good question, and I am not passport/visa savvy enough to answer, so I thought I would ask all you VJ members who may have more understanding in this area. Now, in Russia, my fiance of course has her civil passport for within their country, and also holds a traveling passport for out of the country, as well as a tourist visa. Now her visa which she used to come to the US will expire in 2014, and her civil passport will also be expiring in Feb. 2014. Her question is, should she renew both visa and passports before her interview date, which we hope will be around June or July 2013? Or...If she is given the approval for her fiance visa, then do they keep her old visa? (meaning renewing her tourist visa would be a waste) Lastly, thinking positive here:) Once we are married here in the US, and before her AOS is processed, what would need to be done passport/visa wise to re visit Russia.

I would appreciate any information or knowledge on the passport/visa explanations anyone can provide, and it will help us both so much as we try to look ahead with positive hopes in our dreams coming true.

BEST WISHES TO ALL

Mike and Lena

Russia, Ukraine and BelarusRussia's Flowers
Hello, Like yourself, I assumed all of Russia was like a refrigerator this time of year, however my fiance is from an area close to the Black Sea, and surprisingly, the weather there is very warm compared to the rest of the country. I found a floral service online that located flower shops nearest to the location and happily, they used a shop very close to her home. She did tell me they do have green houses there in her city, so I suppose getting fresh roses there is much like here.

Wishing all of you the best

Russia, Ukraine and BelarusRussian Law - Registration of all Russians who are abroad

Why are they doing this? Who knows... maybe they are planning on "protecting" Russian speakers in other countries (they've been doing a lot of that in different places lately). Maybe they will create some more "interesting" laws in future, related to taxation of people, who have another citizenship or a resident card, or related to our property in Russia. Whatever this is, I don't expect any positive changes.

However, I have some information that might help your wife. It's all in Russian, and I don't feel like translating, but you can have her read this:

Wow, thank you for all you've shared. This confirmed the fact that this form is not in force until Aug 17th, so that explains a lot. Just crazy how they can say it is effective Aug. 4th, and the 60 days to register begins from that date...even if the form isn't in force...till the 17th...a loss of 2 weeks shot. I certainly will pass all this on to her....Thanks soooooooooooooo much:))))))))

Russia, Ukraine and BelarusRussian Law - Registration of all Russians who are abroad

What I have read is that it applies to Russians who have kept their registration in Russia. So if you keep an apartment there where your citizen spouse is registered, or if they're registered at their parents' apartment, it counts as "living in Russia." No one really knows exactly what to do, though, and who needs to do it. But if your wife doesn't figure it out over there in time, I think she should be able to do it through the consulate in the US.

From all that I have read, you cannot do this at the consulate in the US. It must be done in the regional offices there in Russia, in person, however they do allow you to mail this in to them...but then...they do not send you any confirmation of receiving it, so you can still easily be listed as a "criminal"...especially if it gets lost in the mail. I am now told, that the immigration offices there have these forms....BUT...get this.... they do not have a law that tells them they can give this form to the public yet, so my wife is now told to come back on the 17th...which is a Sunday...haha..they are closed, so she will try again on the 18th. Even if you went down with a printed out form, they will not take it, so you cannot submit it yet. My wife asks...maybe they need a law to use the toilet:))))  She is very very upset with this whole mess, and frankly I don't see how she can endure anymore BS from the government. My question is, why are the really doing this in the first place?????

Yes, I agree, with your comment. My wife is registered there, and maintains an apartment there as well. Her local offices tell her to return around the 17th to apply, and her flight back here is on the 20th...so this form is like a jump start for her. What is really bad, is they are given 60 days to do this, (from the 4th of August), yet with many regional offices are not ready to process this, the clock keeps ticking away, and the deadline doesn't change!

You can't imagine how happy I was to see your post:) My wife has been trying to get this process done while visiting there in Russia, and as the clock keeps ticking away for her to do this, the offices there told her they didn't even have these forms yet. Perfect timing and thank tou for sharing...my wife is now at ease about getting thus done.

Does anyone know which to get for the K-1 visa for a 30 year old woman who cant find her old shot record? I was thinking I=it sounds like good advice to have them now to avoid the civil surgeon thing, in the US. I will need to wire money to cover this ,so can anyone recommend the shot and test list? this is from the Hong Kong consulate Pdf

ChinaHong Kong police clearance certificate
Hi again. Does anyone remember how many days it took to have the Hong Kong police clearance certificate mailed to the consulate? Marie ordered hers 7-7-2010 after receiving her packet 4,But her interview is 7-26-2010? Will it arrive in time?

ChinaPolice Certificate confusion
My Fiancee had a interview July 26,2010. She had got the police certificate from the HK police dept & the Philippines Police and her medical. The K-1 visa application was sent back to USCIS for review and now RE-approved. Now it will be on its way back to the Hong Kong consulate. My fiancee has moved to Macau (CHINA?). My question is will she need to get a new police certificate from HK, and the Philippines? Or when will the certificates expire? How long are the police certificates good for? Also will the HK police certificate cover Macau?
Question ; will the medical from July2,2010 be expired? How long is it good for?
I just want to be on top of the process this time and have everything lined up.thank you Aron

ChinaConsulate Pushing, trying to rush second interview?
Most of you know that My fiancee first interview was Suspended last July.
Now the consulate has received my K-1 visa application back from the USCIS,
RE APPROVED. The Consulate has sent this E mail to Marie

(((((Ms. Marie:

Please contact this office via email when you are free to come to this office for a second interview. Please also provide your daytime contact phone in your reply.

Immigrant Visa Section
Hong Kong ))))))

So we replied with this:::

"To whom it may concern,

I just want to ask if i need any other documents for my second interview.

In your e-mail to me dated Oct 29, 2010 you inquired of what day I would like to come in for my second interview. If I need no other updated documents I would like to come in Nov. 22, 2010 Monday morning.

Thank you very much,

Marie

Now here is there reply :

Ms. Marie:

We acknowledge receipt of your e-mail, your new cell phone and new mailing address.

As we have a pretty tight appointment schedule in November, just wonder if you would be able to come for a second interview in this week at 8:30 a.m. Please let me know the specific day.

Awaiting for your prompt response.

Ok .. Here is my Question? Can anybody here read between the lines?

#1 The Consulate Did not answer "If they needed any other documents?"

#2 Then "THEY" asked when Marie could come in for the second interview But dont like Her date? Nov 22,2010 Monday

#3 The consulate wants Marie to come In THIS WEEK? Marie is waiting for My updated documents for the second interview. I.E.(Updated fiance letter of intent,Current pay stubs, And proof of relationship) They are still in the mail.

#4 I thought that an Interview letter was required to get in to the Consulate? Will the consulate Let Marie in without a Interview letter?

PLEASE if any can help me with this riddle post your answers. I feel like they are playing this like a game. Aron

Waivers (I-601 and I-212) and Administrative Processes (221g)Fiance got a call from USEM
My fiance was placed on ap 6 weeks ago at his interview. He was given a blue paper and a check mark placed only on the part where it says his visa could not be processed at that time. (maybe due to background check?) Since then we have been waiting patiently. As it turns out yesterday he received a call from USEM in Ciudad Juarez however he was a work. His aunt gave him the news that they had called asking for him and they also verified if it was his phone number. My question is, "Is it too soon to get our hopes up? Why else would they call?"

Waivers (I-601 and I-212) and Administrative Processes (221g)Finally Out of AP!!!
Yippee We are finally out of AP. kicking.gif My fiancee was placed on AP after his interview in January for further processing. Then in March an attempt was made to contact him, however he was at work. My guess was just to check if he was really in Mexico, because we never heard back until just recently. They were clueless when we would call and ask why they had contacted him.

Anyway, US Embassy called us on the 16 of July telling us he had to present his passport on the 17 or by latest the 20 because his medical exam expired the 23 of July and he had to leave Mexico by then. Does this make sense to anyone???? (Not that I am complaining) I thought medical exam was valid for one year. He got his visa on Monday the 20. However, on it is a notation that says blanket waiver?? Any insight into this would be awesome.
Since then we have gotten most of our materials and paperwork ready for AOS and EAD.

Also Thank you to everyone for sharing their experiences. They have really helped me cope with the not knowing. Best of luck to everyone and hope you make it out of AP hell. devil.gif

Hello everyone,

I somehow knew this was too good to be true....as quick as pregnancy came-it was gone. That is what i get for testing before my monthly visitor has even come calling. I was pretty down, but am OK now. I regret telling everyone so quickl. That is why they have that age old piece of advice called "don't tell anyone until the 1st trimester is over" deal. Oh, well....just hope conceiving doesn't take too long. How long did it take you Tanya if ya don't mind me asking? If someone can help us out with a question, we would really appreciate it!!

If you have 2 stops when entering the US before your final destination.....once you get to your second stop, are you allowed to leave the airport and then return when it's time for your flight to leave? Necmi has a very long layover on his second stop and would be nice to get some sleep at a hotel instead of waiting at the airport.

Thank you in advance!

I wouldn't think it would be a problem at the second stop, as he'll go thru immigration at the first stop (assuming both stops are within the US). After that, he should be able to come and go as he pleases.

Hope that helps...

Asia: East and Pacificquestions about wait times
My wife is in Tokyo. She only sees this un-imaginary line with no one in front of her and no idea how long she will be in it. I see from other posts that some people wait for a very short time and others maybe a bit longer. She is getting borderline depressed and maybe, well maybe not maybe, a bit angry with the delay. I finish grad school in May and that is our anniversary. I would really like her here, but do not have a warm comfy she will be. I thought of sending a letter directly to the embassy, but email requests were answered "please wait". The state dept only confirmed all documents complete. This leaves politicians. I'm not sure that will help. Looking for suggestions and experienced thoughts about the wait times. Thank you, sincerely.
