Hey, just letting the Aussie connection know that hubby and I got our NOA2!!! It looks like we are on the downhill run now!!!

Hope everyone is healthy and happy!!

:-)

Congrats! We just mailed off our packet 3 today. Here are somethings I wish I knew at that stage:

The packet three you get mailed to you is the *same* exact info you can get on the website. In fact ours was just an address to go to the website. wacko.gif So really you can get started on everything well before you get that packet. They dont want you sending anything to the embassy before they've contacted you though. However at the very least you can get started, order your certificate (if not mailing direct to the consulate) etc.

Our police certificate took 3 weeks to arrive, I'd definitely get started on that now if you happen to be in Victoria!

website for the packet 3 info: http://canberra.usem.../iv/fiance.html

hmm.. youre not a k-1 though, so you may have different info you need.

GOOD TO KNOW!!!!!!!!!!

Ps we JUST got out noa2 on dec 8th. I went to the website tonight as I could not sleep and BOOM was there!

Hi everyone,

Just a quick update on what's going on with me. I had my interview at the Sydney US Consulate last Tuesday and I was there for about 50 minutes the entire process. First I had to deal with a guy who asked for documents that they didn't realise we had already sent them. He was frustrating because he wouldn't listen to what I had to say but I managed to eventually get through to him. About 10 minutes later I was asked to give some finger prints then told to sit in the middle section and wait for a case officer to call me. I waited 10 minutes and he called me to the window for my interview. The entire interview took less than 5 minutes which totally surprised me. I thought I was going to be interigated FBI style but after being married to my American wife for nearly 6 years and having 2 kids with her, I guess they realised we had a genuine relationship. The guy told me my Visa had been approved and they would be sending it in the mail by the end of the week. That was on Tuesday, I came home yesterday from work and my visa had already arrived, i couldn't believe that I had received it in 24hrs. I must admit, when we first started this whole process last August I thought this would still be going well into next year, the US Consulate were extremely fast with everything. It was me who took my time in organising things such as my police records, medical etc etc. We've now booked flights to Idaho for 3rd February! :-D

WELCOME TO IDAHO!! I live there and that is where Kai will be coming (I PRAY AND HOPE!!)

Goon...THANK YOU for update on medicals...good info on what to expect

Hi all!
Kai and I been so stressed and fighting the last few days...its because we are stressed over the interview questions and when he gets nervous he forgets easily.

He does okay when we practice on most SO I have a few questions to ask you all

How long after you all got the NOA2 did they schedule your interview?? OR do we scedule it ourselves and if so how???

number two questions
I been divorced 3 times (oh yes I knew how to pick abusers or cheaters...thank god for good intense counceling!!) will this affect it??? I seen where someone got a visa from OZ who was divorced 4 times! sooooo I think it is okay just a worry wart

number 3 question
We have an age gap of 21 years..I hope and pray they do not judge us on this...He said if they ask he will tell them our relationship works just like any other and you are welcome to see others just like us at a support group we are in if you would like...OR what should he say???

number 4..I see the list of questions they might ask BUT what questions did they ask you all???

Number 5 How are the interview folks??? Nice?? jerks??? do they truly listen???

Sorry to ask SOOOO many questions. I just want to ease HIS mind and mine that we will be okay. We miss each other so madly and the last few days has been horribly stressful on us.
It has been 1.5 years since he was here for those 3 amazing months and We would go insane if it was not for the webcam OR voice chat..however I miss just holding his hand and same with him.
I would give 10 years of my life just to be in the same room with him.

HUGS all and thanks so much you all are the best!!

hiya
found this the other day and forgot to post it for you guys to look at..this only refers to the visa waiver program but as many of you who aren't here permantly as yet you still come here to visit...and also for those of us who have relatives and children who come to visit too..

New Entry Requirements to the USA

Effective from 12 January, 2009, the US Department of Homeland Security will introduce new immigration procedures for all passengers intending to enter the USA.

Under the new procedures, travellers wishing to visit the USA under the Visa Waiver Programme – which includes passport holders from Australia and New Zealand – will be required to “pre-register” their intention to enter America at least 72 hours prior to their scheduled departure.

This requires all intending travellers to apply online to the Department of Homeland Security for a travel authorisation, prior to boarding an aircraft or vessel to the USA.

Travellers who do not apply for and receive a formal travel authorisation ahead of their intended departure date will not be able to board a flight or ship to the USA.

This is not a regulation created by airlines. It is a requirement of the US Government, and unfortunately, where passengers do not have a travel authorisation, airline check in staff will not be able to resolve the problem. Nor will the airlines be liable for any costs or cancellation penalties or inconvenience where travellers do not have a travel authorisation, and are not permitted to travel.

To apply on line for a US Travel Authorisation, visit https://esta.cbp.dhs.gov/esta. The application is free of charge and takes approximately 10 minutes to complete. It is valid for two years for holders of a valid passport.

Once a travel authorisation is sought and obtained, passengers must update their travel plans on line for subsequent visits to the USA, quoting their travel authorisation number.

take care

Does this apply to our fiances as well? Or is coming over on the K-1 a different situation?

Wow! It has been a while since I've popped in here. I agree with Rings, lots of new faces smile.gif I hope everyone's journey is going as fast as it possibly can.

Right now we're just waiting on the GC to be approved - with our without an interview is the main question. Our application was transferred to California last month and other K-1 AOS applicants have said that it normally means NO INTERVIEW - that would be grand smile.gif

I'm gearing up to go home to Australia for about 6 weeks - we're going to look into flights tonight and hopefully seal that deal. I'm itching to go home and spend Christmas at home. I've been busy buying Christmas presents and the like.

Any other Aussies on this thread waiting on their GC like me?

Well, good luck with everyone's applications - you will eventually get there biggrin.gif

One: we have a large agegap..our relationship works just like any other BUt will the consolate see it that way?? We have so much evidence it is not even funny

TWO: We have not seen each other for 1 year 5 months due to funds..as you all know it is EXPENSIVE for a round trip ticket to and from australia. thank god for webcams and voice chat!!
I do not want this to be an issue. He was here on the waiver for 3 amazing months, BUT we felt we should save for the wedding and other things we could use once he got here (one is adoption)

do you think that will be an issue???

Has anyone just seen each other one time then filed and have a large age gap??
I am scared because I miss him so much and we cry a lot. So many take for granted what is in front of them..I sometimes get jealous when I see happy couples holding hands OR i see two people fighting and I want to tell them HOW lucky they really are to have their SO with them.

I would give up 10 years of my life to just have a minute physically with him again.

Welcome back Kath! SOunds like you had a great time over there

Cham- nope, there isnt a special immigrant baggage allowance. The allowance for all flights to/from the USA is 2 x 23kg bags per passenger. Anything over that and you will have to pay an excess baggage fee (varies, so check with the airline you are flying with) (Qantas is the exception as they allow 2 x 32kg)

The medical is pretty standard stuff.. medical history, vaccination history, physical exam, plus x-ray for TB and blood test for syphillis and HIV.

hope this helps!

First off on the second part of the visa after we get the noa2 do what form do we need to file electronically?

What questions do they ask at the interview?

Has anyone here only been able to visit their fiance one time..we only got to see each other once for 3 months, thank god for webcams and yahoo messenger calls LOL

Anyone have a large agegap...ours is 21 years been together over 2 years now..I know this is not an issue (our relationship works just like any other)

Is there an immigrate baggage allowance when flying to the states??? I thought there was but can't seem to find it.

What test do they test for on the medical??
What do they test for on the blood test?

I had to call 3 before I found an office that actually knew what they were talking about. nevermind LOL I found it..again a HUGE doh moment

If you could just convince yourself to stop posting and read for an hour, you would thank yourself profusely. You'll have plenty more questions after you actually study the guides and form instructions.

Hint: The I-134 comes much later in the process.

SWEET thanks all...incoming deep breathing LOL

I agree. I have posted some questions that required only reading the the guides and questions as well that have been answered a million times before, but once I read the guides I realized these questions have either been beaten to death or they are in the guides.
don't worry you'll understand everything as long as you read the guides or search for topics that pertain to your question.
I understand you are new and are JUST starting the process, but the best thing you can do is read the guides as you'll see they will answer most of your questions.

Also, dont worry about the i-134 or the sponsor. You won't even need that for (depending on where you are filing) another 4-7 months (at CSC) or a couple months at VSC, and even then you won't need that until you get to the interview, so you have plenty of time.

Just relax and read the guides.
Good luck!!
