ThailandNVC Case # Question

You can get an idea here of what the interview dates look like:

http://photos.state....edule062912.pdf

The way to decode those case numbers is here:

3. NVC Scans Package.
This marries the USCIS receipt number to your newly generated NVC number which is based on

EEEYYYYOOOSSS

  • E = 3 digit embassy code (example TKY for Tokyo)
  • Y = 4 digit code for year (example 2008)
  • O= 3 digit code for Ordinal date plus 500
  • Example I. Aug 28 = 241st ordinal day ADD 500 = 741
  • Example II. 741 SUBTRACT 500 = 241st ordinal day (Aug. 28)
  • S = Sequence number of the day (if you were the second approval scanned, your code would be 002)
Full Example of NVC case number = TKY2008741002

So looking at that current interview schedule, I picked one from the bottom:

BNK2012576003 has an interview date of 7/12/2012. That means that NVC processed it approx. March 15 2012. (576-500 = day 76 of 2012) So from NVC to interview, it took 4 months for that application.

I believe I read somewhere the police certificate is valid for 6 months, although looking at my wife's police certificate there is no expiration date.

After all of that above, reading the new instructions it looks like now they want you to send in the police certificate with the packet 3 response. That didn't used to be the case. You used to bring it to the interview with you. So I'd say go for it and get it now. Good luck!

WOW!!!! Based on those numbers, I'm pretty damn close! I've heard recently of people getting an appointmen date the same week they submit Packet 3 which may be an anomoly but gives me hope! My NVC # is pretty damn close to the highest numbers on that schedule! Yes, they now require the Police Certificate when you submit Packet 3. Thanks!

ThailandNVC Case # Question

I would give the NVC a call again next week and see what they say. If they say it has not been received then give them a call back a few days later or a week later and see what they say, I would not call everyday.

About the police report go with as much information as you can. Maybe have her being a copy of your bio page of your passport just in case they ask for it. I remember Pui got her police report after her paperwork was at the embassy and they did not ask for much. When she went to get her police report the officer was very nice and ended up being from the same providence as Pui and did not ask for any tea money. This was back in March 2011. she also had to return a few weeks later to pick it up

She has color copies of the bio page of my passport a color copy of the NOA2 and copy of the Packet 3 instructions. The first time she went the officer gave her his number and told her to call him and he would take care of it, she didn't. When she went again she was told she needed the NOA2 and my bio page, which she now has and will present on Monday. However, she read posts from two ladeies USVISA4THAI that they required a copy of the appointment letter before they could issue a Police Clearance Certificate. Well how silly is that, you can't get and appointment letter until you get your Police Certificate so someone clearly wanted some tea money. My fiance and I discussed this, she is smart, tough and she will get the Police Certificate next week. Thanks.

Also, I wouldn't go running around getting the police report just yet. I believe they are only good for a certain amount of time.

My Petition should arrive BKK next week and we want to submit Packet 3 the following week. Since we need the Police Certificate to submit Packet 3, and the Certificate can take 1-2 weeks depending on how it is handled, why wouldn't we want to get it right away? Am I missing something? THanks.

ThailandNVC Case # Question

Yes this is best left to her. One person recently suggested waving around a handful of money. That of course is a very bad idea and may lead to a different relationship with the police than they had in mind.

Agreed. While I maybe able to teach her Thai history, it is not my place to tell her how to be Thai, I observe, learn and stay jai yen. Korb khun krab!

ThailandNVC Case # Question

Karee is right in this advise but this email is for the visa section only.
I think you were asking about the consulate section. If so check the consulate web site for the email address because I dont have it anymore. Send to the attention of the duty officer. Give them the NVC number if you have it or the USCIS if you dont.

Found it, thanks. I will give it a try. acsbkk@state.gov

ThailandNVC Case # Question

In the cases I know about the copy of the NOA 2 was all they needed. However I saw a post recently that said they asked for a copy of the USCs passport photo page too.
One person contiues to say here on V J that she needs a appointment letter. I never heard of this but you never know. This could totaly depend on who the see at the police dept.
I would have her take the two items she has in and try that. The idea of " tea " money may be misunderstood and needs careful thought before any attempt at that is made.

We discussed the tea money issue as she was approached on it last time. My fiance is very smart and lived in BKK for a number of years, outskirts from where they would bus her to one of the technology estates in Ayutthaya. I will have to leave it to her discretion as we have had these conversations before about "tea money". Thanks again.

ThailandNVC Case # Question

My impatient husband wants you to know you can try what he did to help determine when your case is in BKK. Its a long story but in short NVC couldnt find our case.
The embassy in BKK is like a house divided into working sections. One side ( consulate ) works on American citizen needs. The other does the visa work.
Knowing this he wrote ( emailed ) the consulate section asking the duty officer to help him find the case. He gave the duty officer our USCIS case number. Within two days the duty officer told us the case had been sent to him. When it arrived he again notified us. This allowed us to send in my P 3 docs without waiting for the notice usually sent out. At that time they were still sending those by mail which took weeks so we saved a lot of time. In total my case took 408 days so we were tired on waiting too. This was the first time we got a positive result from USCIS.
Give this a try if you want to do all you can. The worst that can happen is they wont or cant help.

Do you still have the e-mail address? I have our NVC case number I called yesterday and was told the NVC got our petition on July 9, 2012 and they usually send in on in about two weeks via DHL I believe. He said to call bacl Tuesday to confirm that it has been sent. I reckon I could then wait a week and e-mail the consulate. Thanks so much for your help! Korb khun krab!

ThailandNVC Case # Question
Ning, question: My Fiance went to get the Police Certificate a few weeks ago and was told she needed the NOA2 and a copy of mt passport, ok, no problem. So she has that and is going to go back on Monday the 23rd. However she just read a post on the USVISA4THAI website where the woman went there and was told she needed the Appointment letter from the Embassy to get the Police Certificate. Is this accurate or are they just trying to get some tea money? My fiance is going to try on Monday anyway because she will be in BKK anyway. Thanks.
