Have you called the embassy?

The Immigrant Visa Information Call Center, which can be reached at 1-909-101-7878, is available Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. (Philippine Time). There is a fee charged to callers by the Call Center for its services.

Call Center customer service representatives are able to provide basic information regarding the status on file with the Embassy. They are unable to provide advise or make determinations about legal aspects of cases.

Let me search.

The way you asked the initial question, it appeared you were in the states.

You could be correct rsn. I may have to quit cold turkey. We are going to visit friends in Pattaya soon though. They may know where I can locate some swedish "almost" chewing tobacco.

We'll see.

On the bright side... we'll be going to Koh Larn island.

If it's going to be sweltering hot, where else to be than right there near the beach right? Man do I like this place!

There is a Scandinavian hotel near Nana that has snus. I need a fix when I ran out of Copenhagen 2 days before returning to the states. I prefer the general Snus, it is what I used when I lived in Sweden.

Just found the link: http://www.stablelodge.com/index.html

Just go to the front desk and tell them you need some snus.

Well, I was thinking more along the lines of a water fight in the backyard or park.

OT.......I see your timeline, similar to mine. Where in Thailand is your wife? My wife and son are about 30 minutes from Surin. Our wives will probably heading to BKK at the same time for interviews.

It's a nice airport. Easy for Thais. Narita is a pain in the a$$. My experience at HK (Cathay) was ok I guess. Not sure where you live, but 2 stops is awesome on Korea.

Agreed on Narita!! I live in Huntington Beach, CA so I fly from LAX. I usually fly EVA, frequent flyer so I can upgrade but on my last trip to Thailand in Oct I flew Thai Air direct..............that was great as well as the service.

BKK-ICN-LAX is also nice.

Had a layover in Incheon once and liked the airport, much better than the dirt air strip I landed on in a C-141 in Phohang in '89!!

I'm back with yet another question.

So it's rather easy to locate a round trip (or even one way) FROM the US to Thailand. I usually go to Expedia or even Travelocity.

I decided to do a little recon for the time when she would have her visa in hand and can accompany me back to the US.

On the above mentioned sites (and others alike) I am having difficulty finding a round trip ticket (for me) and a one way FROM Thailand to the states for my fiancee.

Are there other sites I should be checking here... or when the time comes, should I just pony up the dough for TWO round trip tickets so as to guarantee that we are on the same flight, seated together?

You guys are awesome BTW! Wish I would have found this site BEFORE I filed.

Try Eva Air................BKK > TPE > SFO or LAX

Got a question for the Thai regulars.

How hard is it for Americans to locate long term employment opportunities in Thailand?

I don't speak Thai now... but I am working with the Rosetta Stone and would gladly amp that up if it would help or seal the deal on a job opp.

Give a little back ground. I'm a power plant operator by trade and it's what I've been doing for the last decade.

I am also an information technology specialist for the Army Reserve (4 years). I am closing in on completing my degree in computer systems security at a well known college in my state.

I would love to spend some time working in Thailand and completely immersing myself in the culture and the land (with my fiancee of course).

Is this a "just forget about it" idea? I don't want to be an English teacher either... cause I've always had problems with those courses myself! HaHA.

Thanks for any input.

Are you on LinkedIn? If not, create an account and I know for a fact that there are some Thailand Expat Groups you can join. When I work abroad, it is usually from contacts I have had in the past.

My wife and son are in Thailand right now, son was born in Florida a little over a year ago. She has registered our son at the Amphur and she called someplace in BKK inquiring about a Thai passport for our son. They told her it would be easier for her to apply for his passport through the Thai Embassy once she gets back to the states.

I asked a very simple ###### question, and 95% of the posters decided to answer a completely different question. I mean, do they make farangs drink from separate, tainted fountains in Thailand? FFS
