Has anyone had the IV bill/DS-260 made available in the past few days? Just trying to get an updated estimation of where the NVC is at in processing these.


 

As of recently they have been quoting 30 business days which is approximately 6 weeks from the time that they receive the case at the NVC.


Not me. I've been watching you, though. :P I know that we did the DS261 at about the same time. I think BOS and Hotter Otter are about the same as well.  I'll let you know when I can access either. :)

We finally got our case number and IIN today.

 

Weird thing is, we didn't call them - they e-mailed us with the instructions and the details. I already filled up the DS261. Does my husband need to fill that up too? And I'm assuming that it will take a couple of days before they let us pay the AOS *sigh* I'm just hoping to finish the NVC phase within a month. I'm giving birth soon and I'd rather not have this to worry about.

Have you asked for an expedite with the NVC?

My whole family and everyone in my social circle is horrified that it's been taking this long, and many of them have told me that all I need to do is tell them how to help. And when I have explained my situation in the comments section on immigration stories online, I've actually gotten pretty much the SAME response.  I don't need to be misleading, I just tell them the truth of my situation, and they agree and say it's wrong and something needs to be done to fix our immigration system so that we don't have these problems anymore.

 

I detailed what I thought was a good course of action in (I think) the March thread. I also think making more noise on social media will definitely help.  I mean, I don't have a lot of twitter followers, but the ones I have include news people from Fox, CNN, MSNBC, a Former Ambassador, and several Immigration Lawyers. If we can get our stories out there properly, we can get the attention of people.  I think we need to renew our efforts. Possibly agree on the hashtags to use, and get the word out. And I think that we also need to contact the people who respond to the USCIS on their social media, because the USCIS doesn't, and it WILL get more petitioners who are going through the same thing as us involved. Many of them have no clue what's going on, and are surprised and happy to know that there are efforts to try to improve the situation.

 

My other suggestion is a legal solution. If we want to really make it so that the USCIS is unable to do these things in the future, then we need to work on writing a bill that accomplishes exactly that. While many of the other bills about immigration are considered controversial, I truly believe that most Americans will be very much in favor of US Citizens bringing their Spouses, Fiancees, and Immediate Family Members to the US quickly.

I think we should start a video campaign featuring different people telling their stories on Youtube. I have posted twice about it, first time the thread was locked due to massive amounts of personal attacks on me, the second time I only got one person to say they were interested and he later backed out once I PM'ed him. 

I also still stated that I was up for it. I am a woman. 

 

Obama is *not* giving citizenship to "illegal aliens" and I think that by trying to pitch that story, we will lose any support that we have from people on the Left, Moderates, and plenty of Republicans. The only ones you will appeal to are the Tea Partiers.  I don't at all support that line of publicity, and don't want to participate in that in particular. As I've stated before, nothing good will come out of attacking either the President OR the DACA filers. The people whose feet need to be held to the fire are the upper management in the USCIS.  

 

That being said, we can try to find out their names and email addresses, and have everyone contact them, their representatives, people at the DOS, etc. And then we can do as people have done in the past, and have people who are waiting for more than 60 days since transfer send them at least on email a day. Maybe more than one email a day.

Have you raised a service request and referenced your MSC#,  service request number and Alien Name -- in an emailed addressed to the TSC ?

 

We are all anxious - but I have a feeling that you should be contacting senators and congressman instead of spending your time on VJ. You are closer to approval - we are being forced to wait till we get "seniority". 

Omg, she's done this. She's been doing it for months. Her still waiting is not a failing on her part.

I think we're waiting for this month's numbers to come out for our next round of letters to go out. This time, I'm going to suggest that we email them to *all* of our representatives, and possibly every email address at the USCIS that we can find. More major news outlets, all over social media, etc. Seriously, most of the people who applied for IR1/CR1 last year are still waiting for just their NOA2, and that's bullshit.

Well, there are several possibilities for this situation. Unfortunately, we don't have enough information at this point in time to conjecture about which is the most likely. 

 

1. They will continue transferring cases in the beginning of Feb. thus giving the service centers a bit of time to actually adjudicate the cases that they already have.

2. NBC will (haha) adjudicate more petitions either at the Overland Park facility or Lee's Summit.

3. They will continue transferring cases once late July petitioners hit 7 or 8 months of waiting, as they did with Feb/March/April/May cases. This option will blow the idea of returning to 5 months average of processing times right out of the water, as a large number of people will be waiting much longer than that. That average will only be possible to achieve if more new petitions are processed BEFORE the older ones. 

4. They will continue to transfer the workload randomly as they see fit, and we will be left in the lurch with no real idea of what's going on until there's some kind of a pattern to it that we can detect. Late July filers and on will be told to wait and be patient, that they haven't waited long enough, they should stop whining, and that they'll forget all about it when it's over, and never think about it again because their spouse is there and that causes some kind of immigration-related amnesia. Possibly out of a need for self-preservation after the trauma of dealing with the USCIS for an extended length of time. 

 

My money is on #4. :P

 

 

But seriously, we don't know what happened with the transfers last week. If they're still sending new petitions to the service centers, then the transfers should continue. I do hope that they're not just holding them at the NBC until they hit a certain length of time since application for all of your sakes. It would be very nice if the NBC were actually adjudicating cases and you all were some of the first in line. (Besides those earlier 2013 filers who haven't gotten transferred yet, either.) I believe that the fact that we just saw a case transferred from TSC back to the NBC is either a serious screw up fluke, or, possibly, a sign that they might be opening up shop. We'll have to (ugh) wait and see what the outcome is of that person's inquiries as to why they were shipped *back* to the NBC, and also if we see any other cases like that one.

Except that they are just approaching 6 months of waiting. I think that they're probably going to wait until they're past 6 months of waiting to start transferring them. And a transfer isn't a given. There are people from the months before August and July that have never been transferred. 

 

After waiting for 9 months, waiting another 9 days (And we don't even know if they're going to process it within that time.) feels like an eternity. That last month and a half (give or take) was hellacious for me.

I'm sure that this problem will shortly resolve itself as the August people get transferred over the next few weeks. As no one from August has been transferred yet, it's not a problem for me if they want their name on the list. I'll make sure that the information put in the list is updated appropriately once they start getting transferred. In the meantime, if being on the list makes them feel better, then it's really not a big deal to me.

Oh, I didn't make most of these, but thank you for the sweet post.  I just compiled the list together so that we wouldn't have to keep searching in the individual monthly threads for them. wink.png There are a bunch of people working on each sheet, and of course, we couldn't keep straight what was going on without everyone coming back and self-reporting about what was happening with their application. It's been a truly collaborative effort. Thank you to everyone who has been helping out with these, no matter how big or small the contribution!

With Google Drive, you can share files ? like documents, images, and PDFs ? without having to email them as attachments. Sharing is as easy as indicating which email addresses or mailing lists should have access to a given file.

  2. Check the box next to the file or folder you'd like to share.

  3. Click the Share icon.

  4. Choose a visibility option: "Private," "Anyone with the link" or "Public on the web."

     

  5. Type the email addresses of the people you want to share with in the text box below "Add people." You can add a single person, a mailing list, or choose from your contacts.
  6. Choose the access level from the drop-down menu next to each collaborator: "Can view," "Can comment," or "Can edit."

     

  7. Click Share & save.

Go to the document -> Tools -> Protect Sheet 

Then select that either only you are allowed to edit, or you and the people you select to be collaborators.

Missing users information re-added at the end of the document. I can't add them in order atm because inserting a row screws with the tables, and I just don't have the time to fix it. If someone else could put them in the correct order, that would be awesome. If not, I'll probably be able to get to it tonight. :)

Suggestion: have 2-3 members (familiar/skilled with Excel) from each month volunteer to take on mod duties for the respective spreadsheets, and limit edit permissions to those individuals. We could ask a VJ mod to add the contact info for those members after each month's link in the first post in this thread, and those individuals would be responsible for maintaining their sheets with updates from the monthly filers threads and the VJ timeline stats pages.
