K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresDenied visitor visa - considering K-1 (Nigeria)

CR1 or IR1 same difference for this sampling.

I think if couples remain together past citizenship at approximately 3 years then the chance that it was a scam marriage lessens. Of course there is nothing scientific about this.

What do you think?

Past Citizenship, or past entry/AOS?  IR1 isn't the same thing though, because that would include people who've already been married at least 2 years. I understand that some people will wait it out, just to get that green card, but I have to think that the number of people staying married for that long probably have a very low rate of fraud. It might skew the numbers to include them with the CR1's. (I'd still like to see the numbers, though.)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresDenied visitor visa - considering K-1 (Nigeria)

It's incredibly expensive absolutely for someone that wants to make sure that they're ina committed relationship. One visit = cheap, 3 to 4 visits = pricey.

I'm trying to put together a chart to see how many K1 versus CR1 fails.

I want to validate my opinion that CR1 folks have a higher chance of success relationship wise than K1s. I think it's harder to fake through a marriage (definetly possible) in Nigeria if it wasn't a fly by night wedding but a proper one in church with at least 100 guests, reception, etc

Are you going to include IR1 people in it as well? I'd be interested to see those numbers.  What length of relationship would you consider successful?

Having dealt with the consulate in Amsterdam a lot in the past, I can tell you that they are very good, but you will need to make sure you meet the requirements. They will catch the descrepency.

@KirstyDustin
That really does calm my nerves a bit! Both my fiance and I have been very nervous and to know someone else has had a long wait makes me feel much better! Hopefully we are lucky enough to receive something within the next few days and I won't have to call.

Only a pleasure :) The wait is a killer - but you get through it, and when you receive the notification you will be like me (jumping up and down) LOL. :ot: Where in Canada are you from? I am in contact with two other Canadians in the same process :) :ot2: Again goodluck :)

Hi there.

Ours took just over 3 weeks before we heard anything. Did you send it in a way you could track it?

Also, when my fiance called he was told to wait aswell, then a few days later we received the email and text confirmations - if this makes you feel better...

good luck! :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFilling out and printing of forms for I-129F process
Hi there,

:help:

I am new at this and would like it if someone could help. My Fiance proposed to me on Saturday, he was visiting here in South Africa and has now returned to America. We are wanting to start the I-129F process ASAP. I was looking at the forms that we can fill out and print, on the top right hand corner they have a expiry date and all the forms have dates that are in the past, where would I be able to find forms that have expiry dates that are current?

This may be a "odd" question but just thought I would check this before we fill out the forms and print them and they end up not being valid.

Thank you for your help!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFilling out of G-325A Form for K-1 Visa
I am filling out my G-325A, Biographic Information form to send with the I-129F application and need help with a few areas.

My father passed away in 1999 :( - do i put "Deceased" instead of his information, or do i still put his information they ask for with "Deceased" in brackets and n/a for the City and Country of Residence?

I'm listing my residence from the last five years, my City and Province/State names don't fit in the space provided, either 1 or 2 letters don't fit - is this a problem, or must i shorten the words to their abbreviated names?

There is a question at the bottom that says "This form is submitted in connection with an application for:" and gives a choice of "Naturalization", "Status as Permanent Resident" or "Other (Specify)" to chose from, which do i chose for a K-1 Visa?

Thank you for your help.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI need some questions answered please

I have been told different things about petitioning my Fiance in the Philippines. I was told in the US I have to make at least 25,000 a year or more to be sure she will be approved and allowed in the US so we can Marry this was told to me by a married couple I know who went through the process 2yrs ago. I wanted to be sure what is the financial amount you need to have to ensure they allow her in. Please give me the information I need so I know what to do. I have not seen any notices that explain the financial parts of the process.

I know someone who does the filing and processing for Petitioning Fiances from the Philippines and he told me I just need to pay all the fees and be currently working and all would be okay and if needed my family can bring their Tax Returns for the past few years to show that they can help support her if needed and that by doing so the Process will go through and I just have to wait 6mths after filing to bring her here and then marry. The married couple said he is wrong and if she is denied they still get paid and I would have to do the process over again. Please help me with these questions.

Please let me know what the answers are cause nothing on the website says anything about this particular part of the Processing

Thanks

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresCalling the USCIS for info. on process is NOT useless...

FOUR copies of G325a? Why are four necessary? We only sent one for each of us and they were a one page doc each. :o

I'm not sure. Ours were one page docs too, and i saw somewhere to put in three copies of the original, so that's what we did. Then when my Fiance called they said they weren't all there but they were. We sent the docs in on October 1st, not sure when the paper reduction act came into effect? But sounds like with the reply above it came into effect a while ago?? Hmmm...

This is just a general post to let all of you that are / have recently sent in your K-1 applications, if you think your NOA1 is taking too long PHONE the USCIS! Don't prolong the call.

I REPHRASE THIS FIRST PARAGRAH. THANKS TO YGR TELLING ME THAT CALLING THE USCIS AFTER THE FIRST NOTIFICATION AND BEFORE FIVE MONTHS IS UP IS NOT GOING TO REALLY HELP...

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresCalling the USCIS for info. on process is NOT useless...

no one said it is useless, not at least when there is something that they should be doing regardless of a time frame and they arent ( if you call after getting your first notice of action and BEFORE the five months time frame,it is useless ).after all USCIS is the responsible office if something goes wrong and our main resource

I have been told a few times that calling would be useless, when i asked if i should phone to check why my NOA1 could be taking a while, that is why i said it's not. I haven't received my first notification so in this case it wasn't useless for me and so others know that it's not i wrote about it. It could very well be useless after NOA1 and before five months is over, but i'm talking about our NOA1 not being received, and wondered why. If others get worried about not receiving their NOA1's i wanted them to know that they should call and check on it... to ease their minds a bit like it did for us...

This is just a general post to let all of you that are / have recently sent in your K-1 applications, if you think your NOA1 is taking too long or any notification for that matter PHONE the USCIS! Don't prolong the call.

My Fiance sent our application in on the 1st October, it was delivered there on the 6th October and we still as of this morning had heard nothing! I finally got my Fiance to call because I was getting worried that we hadn't received our NOA1 notification while others had so soon after their package had been delivered. When he called they said that they were going to send it back to him after 21 days (today was day 17 of waiting), because his 4 copies of the G-325a Biographic Form weren't in the application, when they checked it was actually there (they had seen one "tab" we used to seperate the sections and thought there was only one copy - others were directly after the first one). They then said that they would process it today. We are now waiting for the NOA1 notification to come through.

So please do yourselves a favour if you have a gut feeling that you should have heard something and you haven't give it a go and phone them! We lost 2 weeks, if we hadn't called to follow up we would have probably lost a month due to an unnecessary RFE, with the length it would have taken to be mailed back to my Fiance and then the length of time it took to mail back to the USCIS!

Good luck to all those that are starting / have started the process already...

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresQuestions about assembling k1 package
You don't need to send your Birth Certificate with the I-129F application.

They ask for a copy of your Birth Certificate in the Checklist you receive in the first package from the US Embassy before your interview.

They do however, need the Petitioners birth certificate in the I-129F application!

Good luck

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedureswhich center to file 129F?
A while back the place to send the I-129F applications was changed to ONE filing location - this is in Texas. Send it there and once the petition has been looked over and the money order / check cashed they send it to one of the service centers, depending which service center your area you live in falls under. When you receive your NOA1 it will state which service center your petition is sent to. So send it to the address in Texas for express and certified mail so it can be signed.

Hope this helps!

I changed my mailing adress from a apartment address to a Post Office Box, I believed all I did was called USCIS to have it changed. Did not change the processing time at all and I did it in the early stages too,

Thank you

I changed My address online at the USCIS website and it was no problem whatsoever.
My husband also changed his address at one point by calling them. They are really helpful, we have gone through several addresses with the military and it hasn't caused any delays in our case at all.

Hi there,

This has probably been asked already but I can't seem to find anything about it on here - probably haven't looked properly.

My Fiance (Petitioner) could be moving soon, and I was wondering if he had to send in the change of address information, if it would slow our process down? We are waiting for NOA2 (still early days) and don't want there to be a chance of the process being delayed. I have been told by numerous people that it won't, but just need to triple check on this. :)

Has anyone recently done this before their NOA2?

Thanks in advance for the responses.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWhat are the rules on how you send in your package?
Hi there.

Once i had all my documents together i punched the top of every page with two holes and used things we have here called "file fasteners" they individual fasteners that you bend out at the back to keep the pages together. Others have used one BIG paper clip or fold back clip to hold theirs together. What happens is when they receive your package they take it apart anyways and take what they need out etc. Don't waste your time on a three ring binder - i think that will be kind of hard for them to take off to take the pages they need out.

Maybe someone else has a better idea though?

Hope this kind of helps a bit.

Good luck with the process

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresmailing I-129F packet
Thumbs up to Godsgift :)

The last question about stapling etc. Apparently the application is taken apart when they receive it to put the necessary documents together how they need them, we just punched two holes at the top of ours and put individual mini "file fasteners" in them to keep the papers together (i read somewhere that punching the top of the pages helps them when they file our applications :)) BUT i might be wrong... so just a big clip should be fine i'm sure...

You should keep all the originals of documents you sending him - they say that you should take originals with you to the interview incase they ask to see them :)

Good luck and Merry Christmas to you too :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHow to get Police report from USA?

Hello,

my fiancee and me are currently waiting on the NOA2 and I read thru this forum where people suggest to collect all the papers you need after NOA2.
So my question is who do I need to contact to get a police report from USA? I've been in USA with a J-1 visa and worked as an Au Pair for 21 months.
I appreciate any advices!

Hi there,

I was an Au Pair in Michigan for 18months and i also had that question. You don't need a USA Police Clearance Certificate, none of us beneficiaries that have lived in the USA longer than 6months need one.

Hope this helps :)
