Yes longer also especially if you get the dreadful RFE oops8rh.gif

I am optimistic that i will hear from them next month.

Any idea when the new processing times are coming out ?

New processing times came out today. They've gone from Feb. 12, 2013 to Feb. 13, 2013.  I'm not even optimistic that *I* will hear from them in the next month.

They were supposed to be out on Monday. They updated the dashboard information yesterday, and they usually do that at the same time as the processing times. We're having an informal bet whether they're going to wait until right before they go on vacation to update them, or if they're going to say screw it and not update them until next month.

I agree with you that you need to contact someone  until you get an answer.

But yes it can take over a year if the beneficiaries name is stuck in 'endless background checks' especially for people who come from high risk countries like hers (i am not offending anyone here). There is a huge difference on how its done when it comes to background check for someone from Netherlands to someone in Pakistan.

My understanding is intensive background checks is what AP is for. ;) I am basing my response here on the comments from a former adjudicator. None of their comments indicated that it should take over a year to do a background check.

As we don't know who actually said the case was going through a background check and that was the reason for the delays, we can only take that answer with a grain of salt. If it was a Tier 1 center person, we all know how accurate their answers are. :)

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNebraska service center?

It doesn't take over a year for them to process a case here in the states, not even when they have to do background checks.

I would contact, contact, contact, until someone listened to me and took action. Contact everyone. ALL THE PEOPLE. Just making E-requests is not enough. (Unfortunately.)

Personally, I think it's ridiculous that we should have to chase them around for information that they should be providing to us any way, but that appears to be the way things are at present. Since your case has been waiting so long, you're going to have to work for it's resolution.

I did call them and make like 4 times E request but every time they said we still working on it don't have any time frame.keep waiting

Did you do it within the past month?  They updated the Processing Times last month to show that they're now processing Feb. 12, 2013. You put in E-requests, that's good. Now you should call them, and talk to a Tier 2 officer. If they can't help you, then ask for a supervisor. If you put in an E-request before then, they were showing a processing date of October 1, 2012, which would have meant that you were still within normal processing times to them.

Have you contacted the service center itself? Have you contacted the ombudsman? Have you contacted your Congressman/woman?

Also, are you the beneficiary, or the US Citizen petitioner? They will not give information to the beneficiary.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNebraska service center?

If your date isn't before Feb. 12, 2013 you can't open a service request. However, given the bizarre messages you've been getting, I would call and attempt to get a tier 2 supervisor on the phone. Because you are not currently beyond the processing date in the system, unfortunately, your options are limited.

You can try contacting the service center directly via email:

USCIS Service Centers

If you contacted the National Customer Service Center with a case-related inquiry and more than 30 days have passed and you have not received a response, you may email the appropriate USCIS Service Center with your inquiry:

If you do not receive a response within 21 days of contacting the Service Center, you may contact the USCIS Headquarters Office of Service Center Operations by email at SCOPSSCATA@dhs.gov.

The other option is to wait and see what your letter says, or until they update the processing times so that you're beyond them and then attempt a service request. You can also contact your Congressman/woman's Immigration Liason Human. Or do an infopass appointment.

I transfer to NSC in Aug 2013 since that nothing happen.
They change my A number in Aug too but since that nothing when I called them they said keep waiting we can't give u any information.

Have you emailed the service center to find out what's going on with your case? Contacted your Congressman's Immigration Liason Human? Or your Senator's? The Ombudsman? Opened service requests? E-requests? Done an infopass?

What steps exactly have you taken, and when did you take them, to get an answer? If you tell us what you've done and when, we will be able to give you better advice on how you can proceed.

Hello vj

I am seeing people getting approved from tsc and csc but I have not seen any approvals from Nebraska service center. Am I the only one that got transferred to NSC? Is their someone else who got transferred there? If yes have you heard from them?

Plenty of us have gotten transferred to NSC. They're just moving at a snail's pace.

I'm just the messenger on this one... and relaying what I have been told for each member of VJ to do what they will with the information. I am definitely in the boat that it shouldnt create much more in the process, but it is apparent that USCIS is not well adjusted. Food for thought- what is maybe a couple minutes or something simple to each of our individual petitions, on a large scale is not so simple. Try magnifiying that by the thousands of petitions that are pending. Like it or not it adds time. Anytime process is amended it effects output. Just sayin...

If they're going to double their workload, then they need to double their workforce. They just increased the fees on us, and we're getting even less service for it. I don't care what their reasoning is, we pay for a service, and we are supposed to be adjudicated in a reasonable amount of time. 2 years is not reasonable.

I'm not yelling or mad at you. I just think that whomever told you that is full of you-know-what.

I don't understand how it even would matter. The petitioner's background doesn't have any bearing on the background of the beneficiary. It's entirely not relevant, unless they've been convicted of immigration fraud previously, and that should be very easy to ascertain, even with the system they had previously.

Nah, it's okay, I was thinking the same thing, tbh.  I mean, we're really just trying to qualify our relationship now. We haven't even gotten to the actual part where we deal with getting a visa.  I think I'd be happy with getting any real, accurate kind of a time line. They can't even give me that, and that is what has me so fired up.

Thanks BOS_LHR?

Your case got to the NVC on the same day as ours.  If they're working on the 21rst, I'd wager a bet and say it'll be in tomorrow if it's not in right now. I thought that they were working on the cases from 1/16 still, until I saw BOS's post in the Facebook group. It looks like they're definitely working on 1/21's!

You and the head of the household (presumably grandpa) each need an I-864.  Only grandma will provide an I-864.  Grandparents, however, are not always a good choice, but it depends on their age and means.  If grandpa is still working, probably OK.  If he's over 80, it's kind of iffy whether he'll be around to fulfill any contractual obligation associated with the affidavit.

Thank you so much for your help!

We've already filled out the I864 for myself and my grandmother as Head of household, and the I846a for my grandfather. They're both in their early 70's, so will most likely be around to fulfill any contractual obligations. My grandmother makes well above the federal poverty limit from her pension, so I think we're good to go as soon as we get the case number.

Seriously, thanks again.

Looks like you're a few days ahead of me. I'm going to keep watching your progress. Good luck!

They seriously need to get some people working in there overtime, or on a Saturday or something. At this point, a week or two of that should put them well ahead of the game. If they're already backlogged now, it's only going to get worse. Perhaps we should send a letter to the management there, and explain that they're going to be getting a lot of people through and their backlog is only going to get worse if they don't do something about it *now* while it's manageable.

So.. if it JUST snows ... its treated like a federal holiday and doesnt count ?

What is this Arizona ? psshhh

Yeah, I didn't understand it either.  Maybe because it was a state of emergency? As an employee of the government, it probably did count as a holiday day. But in the real world, even with a state of emergency, they don't count as free days off. I know, back when I was working as a professional, if I had a deadline, there would be hell to pay if I missed it. (Unless there was an actual emergency, but they'd still want their stuff immediately upon my arrival, and might call me at home/etc. to make sure I was working on it in my "off" time.)  If they know that they're getting backlogged, and it's likely that it will only get worse, I do not understand why they wouldn't want to get ahead of it and add in working days. (Like Saturdays, or nights.) Offer overtime, do it on a temporary basis until they're ahead of the issue, and it will save months of screaming phone calls from irate people.  Sounds like a decent trade off to me. I would have done extra hours or days to avoid having screaming phone calls, and I was on a salary.

Out of curiosity, are you asking for time frames or are the operators saying this without being pressed? Every time I call all I get is "your case was just received" (yeah ok) and "it takes 10-20 business days." No one has acknowledged yet that, had it not been for office closures, my time would be up. I'm thinking next week I'm going to start pressing for estimates on my daily calls.

They are offering it unsolicited. When I questioned why it changed after I hit 20 days, they told me Snow days and holidays. Well, federal holidays don't count as business days any way, so I was already taking them into account when I was counting. It's always been unsolicited after I give them my MSC #.  As of yesterday, they were still quoting 10-20 days, with the caveat that it'll probably actually be at the end of next week because of snow days.

Was just advised that it was 20-30 business days (now that I'm past 20 business days) because of snow days. How 2 or 3 days off translates into 10 days extra wait is beyond me.

No case number yet. Weather related delays were told to me as well as the reason, and expect something at the END of next week. Obviously, my estimate of the 24th-25th was optimistic.

I was only on hold for 7 minutes before someone picked up, I think that's a record!

No case number yet, but I wasn't expecting one. They received our case on Jan 21. The woman I spoke to was very nice and mentioned they'd had a couple of days the office was closed for inclement weather, so she said if I called back later they might have an update. Based on the updates I've seen from other members here, I'm thinking next Friday might be an optimistic guess for getting our number.

They got our cases on the same day. No case number yet, and they'll be closed Monday for President's Day. I don't think Friday is going to happen. Maybe the 24th or 25th.

I've never had anyone be anything but nice to me at NVC. They've been courteous, answered my questions...they were nice people. One guy helped me with a question about my I-864 that even my accountant got wrong (resulting in a checklist). I truly think they want to get your paper processed and you out of there as quick as they can, and they do have a lot of people to process.  So try your best to be patient. We'll get through this, eventually, surely. We're all anxious and we all want it yesterday and it just doesn't work that way, unfortunately.

Oh, I entirely understand, and I'm always nice to them. But I'm a bit beyond the point where I feel sorry for them for having to do their jobs, or getting snow days off. All I see is more delays. I'm sure that I would have been more charitable had I not already been waiting 11 months to be done with the stupid immigration garbage.  With them, I'm patient and nice, always. But I hang up that phone and scream at it.

I just got through, they're open now. Didn't even get a busy signal and have to try back, I went right into the queue for an operator.

Hurray! Calling them back. Yep! Went right into the queue.

Calling NVC as we speak and it's either ringing without anyone picking up... Or a busy signal.  (Update: The main message says "Assistance regarding an immigrant visa is not available at this time.")  Someone buy those people a decent computer system, please.  (Are they running Win98?!?)

I pray to god we get it next week. NVC received it on 1/16

Between the snow days and the holidays, I'm no longer expecting it next week. I'm hoping for the last week in Feb.
