K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresEvidence of approved I-129F for DS-160

No DS 160 for K1 visa...as far as I know DS160 will be fill up by those applying for B1/B2 or tourist visa.

The OP said Montreal. As far as I'm aware Canada does require the DS 160.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWhat to do...

Go with the co sponsor, u cant tell Embassy that now u have ft job, n ur earning as per poverty line, bcoz it does not count until n unless u have earned all that in a year...this was same situation with my fiancee, we got co sponsor...Best of Luck

Not necessarily, I would say it would depend on the consulate. My fiance had only had his job for about 5 months when I went to my interview and that was fine.

But in the OP's case, I think the job would be too new and the co-sponsor would be the better option.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI-134 for self employed musician (split)

we have been approved and i am leaving for scotland to go see my fiance tomorrow!!!! the next step is the I-134 papers that I'm kinda worried about and need help filling out.......I still live at home and make money with side gigs, such as dancing, shows, and catering. pretty much all cash in hand stuff.........ive seen posts where the petitioners parents have signed off for being the support. we have money saved and in savings but I'm pretty sure I dont have any way of showing I can be the main support without the help of my parents letting us stay here with them until we get our own place....help on filling this out plz!!! smile.png

I'm in a similar situation!  Just got NOA2 on July 29th, I am a professional Trumpeter who gigs every week, and also a private lessons teacher with a decent # of students working from home and schools.... I have a substantial amount of money in the bank (far exceeding the $19K amount for a household of 2), own & have fully paid for an Infiniti G35 (~$35,000), but also still live at home.

Actually, I'm not sure what to put in the blank "i derive an annual income of..." because I honestly dont know.  At the moment, I am trying to nail down trading FOREX but at the moment am having difficulty showing consistent income but because I'm quite new at it, do not have any records of profits from doing this at the moment (W2, 1099, etc).... so what should I put on that blank?

What I was going to definitely do was get a letter from Bank of America indicating my financial details, and make a copy of the title & proof that I've paid off my car.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNOA2

Sure the process can be daunting and tedious but It's better to be safe than sorry. If you have a scanner I would go ahead and make yourself at least a digital copy of the documents you are sending her. This will give you something to go over with her while you prep for the interview, because remember the information you send her is going to be more questions they can ask at the interview.

As for the originals, I'm not sure if they actually take them or not but the reason you send them is because they could ask for them. If they say, "We'd like to see the original airline tickets used as evidence." and you don't have them, well now you have to send them to her and try again. Now I wouldn't send an original copy of your birth certificate and passport but the rest of it sure.

This is just my 2 cents though, as my Fiancée and I are just at the interview stage now and yes I sent her originals and included a certified copy of my birth certificate just in case.

When I said "originals" I thought I clearly indicated I'm questioning bringing the originals from the I-129 PACKET vs. JUST the originals from my recent trip to her just pre-NOA2 (so i dont have to make all those damn copies once again).  Especially since it doesn't state anything on letter K to bring the ORIGINALS.............

BughouseMasterMalePhilippines2013-08-03 20:51:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNOA2

Also, I have a problem with #2 from the guide:

2. Send all originals of the documentary proof that you submitted for the I-129F to your fiance(e) for their interview at the embassy.

For those who have already been past this interview stage, did they really require your ORIGINALS?  I know it says on the guide, but on letter K of the Consular Section Info, it just says that we must be prepared to prove to the consular officer

that you have a genuine relationship with your petitioner...

No where does it state that we must bring the ORIGINALS from the original I-129 package & I can easily provide enough proof aside from the originals!  So some ambiguity!!  I just want to do what's actually needed, as 2 pieces of info contradict each other....

BughouseMasterMalePhilippines2013-08-03 17:58:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNOA2

What to send to your fiance(e) once the I-129F is approved (Receive NOA2):

7.

7. Proof of your ongoing relationship. This needs to be taken to the interview! Include photos, travel documents, emails, etc from between the time you filed and present (NOA1 date-now).

So I'm wondering if it is necessary to make a copy (for myself?) of all documentary evidence that I will be sending her to bring to the interview?  I had already made 2 complete copies of the original I-129F packet but wasn't sure if I needed to also make a copy of all this additional evidence of our ongoing relationship?  I'm hoping not....... because this is already enough work as it is!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresK1 Visa Fees?

Cristiesalim,

What everyone is saying here is pretty much accurate, though I'm surprised no one bothered to inform you of the VISA Medical Examination Fee which will also cost you another $200+.  Jay-Kay mentioned almost every fee in the book but somehow failed to mention that one..... wow.gif

So yeah, dont forget about that one too, since you will pay that before your INTERVIEW (you must pass the Medical &  before being able to proceed to interview).

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI-134 Affidavit of Support

Hi all,

So my interview date is right around the corner, 20th of August. Getting really excited for it, but me being me, I am now in my 'obsess over all paperwork and nit-pick" mode unti the big day. Sigh.

So, I was looking over the I-134 instructions again and read the requirements for supporting documents. I want to confirm a few things:

1. The supporting documents mentioned should be a statement from a bank officer confirming my fiancees bank balance, total $ amount of deposits for the last 12 months and date of account opening, or a statement from employer confirming date and nature of employment, salary paid and whether position is temporary or permanent.

So far we were only able to get basic bank account summaries which state amount in the last 12 months and current balance at the time the information was pulled, and my fiancees employer said they would not provide a statement, and referred her to some place called "The Work Number" which basically has her history of employment. This information includes hire date, company name + address, job title, base pay rate and breakdown of pay recieved from employer. Are both of these sufficient, or do we specifically require a written statement from a bank officer or employer. and nothing else will be accepted?

2. I also have bank statements of my income which easily show that I would be able so support myself + my fiancee, I have figures in savings which are in excess of $40,000 (Quite a bit in excess of that amount in fact, enough to show we would be sitting above the poverty line in terms of accessible funds). Am I not able to provide information from my bank to verify this?

3. The I-134 requires a signature, of course. The PDF form that was emailed to me with my interview day check-list has an option at the bottom to attach a digital signature, which records time/date it was added, email address, time zone and my fiancees typed name. Seeing as the form even has this option added to it, is this sufficient or does it need to be specifically signed by hand? The instructions state the following only regarding this:

"You must sign Form I-134 in your full name... it is not necessary to sign Form I-134 before a notary, nor to have your signature notarized after you sign it."

"Type or print legibly in black ink"

I have attached a blank copy of the form I was emailed just to show what I mean by digital signature, incase this is not understood.

Congrats, elgarta!

What I did was go to into my banking center & obtain a 12-month history of the current and past 12 months balance of all my checking/savings accts. and have them sign it.  You also want to go online and get a printout of the last years (12 months) CREDITS.  Since I am currently self-employed, I ordered the last 3 yrs tax transcripts and included this as well.  It also helps that I have way more then $40K in savings in the bank like you do to prove that you obviously have enough money in the bank.  Since I paid off my $35,000+ Infiniti G35 in only 10 months, that shows strong stability and also it helps if you have life insurance so with all my assets it nearly equals $200K so I should be more then fine on the I-134 myself :)  Basically the more proof you can put of financial stability the better.  ANd yes, make sure your signature on the i-134 is current!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI-134 Question

You have a way of pissing off folks who try to help you, but when you don't like they (accurate and honest) answers they give you, you just argue with and try to demean their efforts.  How much help do you really expect to get, when you know better than the people who have already completed the process you are trying to accomplish before you?

Since you seem to really desire to be spoon fed, read Part 7, #10 on page 7 of 13.

Wow... english MUST really not be your 1st language because that was not exactly 100% correct grammar -- by a longshot!  But anyway I will use the 160 I.Q. intelligence I possess to try to decipher what the hell you were really trying to say.

First of all, Roxy, if you have a problem with me send me a private message!  DO NOT post something irrelevant and some garbage that does not answer my query.  Simply post the answer like you finally eventually did.

Secondly, at what point did I ever say I knew more then the people that completed the process?  Once again, quit being assuming of things and simply answer peoples question if you KNOW the answer otherwise save the pep talk for someone who actually CARES.  Got it? ranting33va.gif

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI-134 Question

I have no personal experience or knowledge, but from what I've read you'll need at least 3x - 5x the difference between your income and the current poverty guidelines for your household size. 3x if you're the sole sponsor who needs to use assets to make up the difference; 5x if there will be other sponsors helping to make up the difference.

See Part 7, Section 10 (page 7) of the Instructions for Affidavit of Support Under Section 213A of the Act document for more detail.

Much appreciated, though I did not see the 3-5x difference there?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresBe at the Interview with Fiance ??

My apologies XMen1.....I guess I see things differently. I rather enjoy the travel to see her. Why you may ask, because that travel is for "ME". Not my job, not my clients, not because I am told to. I do it for me and her.

Documentation, I see that as 1 step closer to the two of us being together AND more importantly because her and I can ALWAYS say " We did it the right way!!!!" No illegal alien here.

Believe me, I live in Texas. I can say that ENGLISH is fast becoming a lost language in this city. There are illeagal aliens all over the place here. I have no ill feelings towards them in any way.

Financial statements and tax returns....you have to do them anyway. Put a light on it. Now your doing it for a GRAND reward at the end. TO BE WITH HER.

I do not see any stress in this on my end. Yes, it is exhausting work. But when I get tired or frustrated, I only have to look at the photo of the two of us together to get remotivated. We have been apart far too long. So if that means, flights, documentation, phone calls and skype to get us closer that much faster. Then book the flights, fire up the computer, and give me the phone. I love my Bear (Bebe). There is nothing I would not do for her.

Stress on her end........You betcha she has stress as does any other beneficiary. I read many post where the applicant gives up, fake relationships, cheated others. That is stress. The other person is on hold, wondering what is going on, and wait for it, they have control over nothing. They control none of the documents until it reaches the US Embassy in his / her country. Now I don't know about you, but when I am not in control or informed, I go nuts. That is stress!!!!!!

I pray you have more peace dring the process your going through. I see that your at NOA2 stage. Believe me when I say this. You have not even begun the process. Wait until you go though AOS and obtaining U.S. Citizenship. That takes years to finally accomplish.

Sit back, relax, and remember one of the most important things. Your not doing it for yourself, your doing it for her. Your doing for the two of you.

"If your job is to dig ditches for a living and all you have is a spoon. Dig the nicest ditch a person has ever laid eyes on. Remember, your work reflect who you are to others."

Peace with you,

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresBe at the Interview with Fiance ??

I say this " Why take the chance of NOT being there? "

Think of it this way. You as the Applicant only had to submit and file documents. Not a whole lot of stress there. However, the beneficiary must appear in person during the interview. Not to mention, obtaining her background documents and medical documents. Talk about stressful. Especially if they are in a country where they are not main stream processes or broadband connected.

Do the beneficiary a favor, book a flight, collect all your documents, get on a plane, and be there for them.

Remember this, all the documents you filed with the I-129F, all the W-2's and 1099's, all the 1040's and tax statements are all familiar to you. THEY ARE NOT FAMILIAR to your fiancé. No matter how much you try to define these documents; there is always a level of anxiety related to an unfamiliar document.

Can you imagine, the beneficiary sitting across the desk at the interview. The interviewer ask let me see the W-2. He / she can not place the documents in the file. The interviewer gets impatient. Now, you have set the tone for the entire interview. Don't risk it. There is simply too much at risk here.

Don't risk it.....your presence there will only make the beneficiary that much more relaxed and comfortable. And as a added bonus, you get to two of you her / him get to see each other while your there.

That's always a plus.

Hello Devan,

I was under the impression that the I-134 required 2 years of w-2 and 1040 returns. Thus, my statement requiring the 2013 // w-2 and 1040.

I am aware that the 2013 w-2's and 1040 would not be available until after Jan. 2104

When you say "We only used 2013 w2 and I-134 and nothing else"

You mean the documents for working year of 2012, that was filed in 2013 to IRS.

Also to clarify, you only gave support for 1 year income tax filing?

If you only used 1 year, then I am okay.

If it requires 2 years, I will have to wait until I file income taxes in January.

Again, thank you for the time your giving me. Your very kind.

Will this work for the I-134 support? Or must I have 2 years of W-2 and income tax return?

Do you have the web site address for ustraveldocs website?

Serveral things causing the delay :

1) She just signed an employment contract because I really expected the petition to be approved in Dec. (SURPRISE!!!!!)

2) I am renting a condo across the street from PWU University. I need to get all the furniture out and in storage.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNOA2 Valid Date Range

Hello All,

I think I may have a problem.

I received the NOA2 I-129F Petition for Fiance has been APPROVED in the mail today.

Approval Notice Valid from 08/26/2013 to 12/25/2013

Here is my issue :

I MUST have my 2013 income tax return for the I-134 she will take to the interview. It is not an option for me.

Being it is for the Philippeans, I am in no way comfortable with a co-sponsor.

( I know I read a post about this same issue a couple of weeks ago, but cannot find it.)

My question is what does this validity period mean?

This weekend, I plan on taking the time to review the POST NOA2 process and constructed a projected time line. Man, I really need to stretch this out.

We really want the interview date to be late January to mid Feb. Do any of you see an issue with this giving that the documents have been mailed to the DOS ( NVC) on 08/27/13.

Please read my signiture below for full date summary.

Man, I am about the only person on here that is in a panic over the expedited processing. Don't get me wrong, I am so GREATFUL that the petition has been approved. Thought I would have more time.

that sounds so much easier! i really hope 3.5hrs at LAX is enough for me to get through... i arrive at 6.30am (really busy time for arrivals from asia pacific. last time it took 3hrs to get to the customs checkpoint from the plane...).

hope the OPs situation is able to be resolved as soon as possible!

What airline are you flying? If you booked connecting flight on the same ticket you will make it, also if its an airline like QANTAS or AirNZ they have fast track through customs passes you can get as you leave the flight and you go to the express customs lane and should be through in 30 minutes.
