US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionIs the Administrative Processing Status normal after visa approval in Jamaica

We were approved on April 18 and got the visa on May 14 so yes, seems everyone ends up in some kind of AP after the interview......

20 min on hold, but got my case #!!!, was going to ask for email/text notification but it seemed they already had my info on file.  Now just have to wait for April's NBI and Japanese Police clearance to arrive.

Applied for an expedite on 13 Jun for military reasons, my NOA2 was approved the next day on 14 Jun.  Started calling last week Friday, then tried again on Tuesday, then today.  Came from the California Service Center, so guess that's about 9 business days so far.  Will try again tomorrow, hopefully I'll have a case number then.

Just called again for my case status, my package has arrived, but not yet inprocessed, so no case number assigned yet.  Asked about the email/text notifications, said that they can't add those requests since I don't have a case number yet.  Just call back later.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionSo question about case number and also I-134

Yup, what he said! You probably won't get a "package" from the Manila embassy.  I got a letter over a month after scheduling my fiancee's interview saying that they had recieved our case.  Once you have the MNL case # you can go ahead and pay the visa fee, schedule the interview, get the medical and CFO semminar out of the way.  Also, make sure your fiancee has all her required documents. NBI Clearance, CENOMAR, Birth Certificates, police clearances for any countries she has lived in more than 6 months.  For a full listing check out Hanks_ guides, you'll find links all over here.  It has a wealth of information.

As far as question #2, you can request a tax transcript from the IRS (do a google search, that's what I did) it's free and you get it in about 2 weeks.  Think the embassy just needs the most current years return, but when  you file for the AOS I think you need 3 years so might as well get them all now, and they are free anyway.

Hi about your question:
7. A. How many total days did you spend outside the United States during the past five years?

You only count the days she spent outside the US since the time she came here in the US not before she come here. Let say she came here April 1, 2006 via K-1 Visa, then from that date count the days she was outside US up to the time you going to submit your application.

Most of the stuff we already know because of all the helpful people in this forum, so I find the quiz feature the most interesting. I would not be surprised if most of you already know about the site, or if there is a thread before this that mentions it, so if this is the case, sorry!

May I know what is the website. Thanks

I read some post here that some IO asked for the recent tax document defending how the mood of your IO will be, I think it's best to bring what you think the necessary documents your IO might ask. Hey Guys!!!!!!!!!! I went to local field office today to find out my oath day, is on July 17th. Wahoo! But I have a question, do I need to notice or go to SSA to update my SS card information and tell them I'm a citizen by that time?

Hi BigRay,

It is best to update your information in SSA that way their system will be updated too, it is not necessarily to do it the day after your oath ceremony but if you have enough time you can do it too so you wont forget it. I, too went to SSA after my ceremony and showed my naturalization certificate but according to them it will take 4-6 weeks before i will receive my new card since they need to verify my status.

US Citizenship General DiscussionN-400 February 2009 Filers
Had my oath yesterday, 88 people were sworn in from different countries. The ceremony was scheduled at 9AM but they started at 10AM. We got there 8:20 and there's a lot of people in the line already. They started to let the applicant in by 8:45AM. At the line one immigration officer was checking the oath notice letter, the one you have to answer after your interview, good thing I asked here if i can fill that up already before going to the ceremony and mostly i got a response that better to fill it up before your ceremony to save your time. By 9:30AM they let the guest in, another immigration officer reminded us how to sign the certificate and advised to check it if all the information is correct before leaving the place. Aso she told us it's better to sign it at home since you will be relax and to avoid mistake. By 10AM the federal judge arrived and started the ceremony. After the oath of allegiance he congratulated us and told we were officially a US citizen. We had 3 guest speakers and after that, the ceremony ended. The ceremony took only 20 mins. After the ceremony we went to SS to update my record but according to them it will take 4-6 weeks before my new card arrive since they have to verify my citizenship since it's only new. Then we went to apply for passport. Finally I'm done. Thank you VJer's for all your help.

QUOTE (marcnycity @ Jun 3 2009, 08:42 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Finally yesterday I had my interview here in New York City (Federal Plaza). They didn't let me any time earlier before my scheduled time, so I had to wait a little bit outside of the building. When it was time to get in, I found a lot of crowd in the waiting room. they also gave me a warning that interviews could run late up to 2/3 hours. i deposited my interview letter and waited my name to be called. I was kind of concerned viewing many candidates going to their interview with their lawyers! Anyway, I was called after 2 hours by an extremely nice smiling interviewer who had some kind of thick accent though (I have problems with foreign accents in general) and spoke extremely fast. But I managed this fine. So, I took an oath to say the truth and then the interviewer went through most of the questions in the N-400. Everything was alright, except that the interviewer noticed several trips and asked why I have been traveling so much. The reason I have been traveling so much is that I go to see my family very often. No trip was over few weeks (I have a job here in NY!), so it was not an issue at all (only trips over 6 months are not allowed), but too many trips my raise concern about the actual residence in the US. BTW my interviewer checked all the stamps in my passport, and figured out that all the information i gave in the Form were extremely accurate. Another topic of discussion was why i had applied 90 days before the continuous residence requirement was met (i said that this is allowed based on the naturalization guidelines and that i wanted to apply as soon as I was allowed to do so). Then i took my civil test. I was asked who is the speaker of the house, who lived in the US before the Europeans came, how long is the president in charge, what's the name of the first 10 amendments, and another one i don't remember. then i had to read, and write "the people elect the congress". In the end my interviewer proposed me for approval!! smile.gif) yeeeeeh !!! then I waited for the final approval for another 2 hours in the waiting room. In the end I was called by another guy who gave me my oath letter confirming that I had final approval. Overall it was a nice and pleasant experience, but as you can all imagine, there are many applicants here in NY and the wait was very long (about 5 hours overall). Now, I don't want to scary anyone, but my impression was that many people failed their interview! In fact, there were way many more people in the main waiting room waiting for their interview then the people waiting for final approval and oath letter in the back of the room (2 different seatings). A guy told me that his interviewer had failed everybody before him. I think it all depends on the information in each application (each case is different), and how somebody passes the civil test, which is easy buy you have to study few days to pass it. That's it. I hope this info is useful. My oath will occur next week! smile.gif) Thanks for all the info you guys exchanged in the last few months and good luck to all of you that will be interviewed in the next few days!

Congratulations Marcnycity, Great Job kicking.gif
