we filed the i751 on may 20, 2008 and did the biometrics and received the 1797. im assuming all we need to travel to the philippines is the i797, expired green card and valid passport. were planning to go on our trip in november, what if her i751 gets approved around the same time we leave or even during our trip. will that cause any problems when coming back to the u.s.? do we also need to get a i551 stamp? im planning to buy our tickets tomorrow.

Yo bro Larry!
Only problem I can see would be if they required an interview during the time you are gone. I've no idea what the timelines are for people from our area. I'd feel more comfortable with the I-551 stamped in the passport. People down by the pier seem to be very friendly and I'd give it a shot getting a stamp in the PP.
What's the cost difference between Hawaiian and PAL now?

$686 on both airlines, direct flight. checked baggage 50lb. limit on pal and 70lb. limit on hawaiian. i prefer hawaiian to support our local economy, plus their planes are newer with individual inflight monitors. pal (plane always late) but iv'e been on time with them so far. knock on wood

US Citizenship General DiscussionProcessing times... really?

I CONSIDER MYSELF TO BE ALMOST ON THE SAME BOAT AS YOU.

When I called the customer service to inquire about my application, I asked her right away to transfer me to a Tier 2 officer and I left my number to be called back since the waiting time is about 2 hours. I already gave them a call before, a month after I haven't got anything from them and the customer service sent an request for me and I waited another two weeks to get a response from them. That's when I called them again and requested for a Tier 2 officer after nothing came in from the mail, text or email.

When I finally  got a call, I told the officer I want to know what is happening with my application since I haven't got any letter from them except the Notice of Receipt of my application (no biometrics schedule yet after two months from the time they got my application). And the officer told me that I am still okay since I am under the 3 period where they send biometrics schedule or if they need more documents from me and that I should give them a call if I receive nothing after october 11. The lady even told me that I should only get to worry if 3 months passed and I have receive nothing still.

I know, this is so frustrating. I know how you feel and I am just praying that soon, WE will eventually get a good and favorable response from them. With all my heart, good luck my friend!!!

It looks like that after all I was right... what a joke!

I called today to talk to the Tier 2 officer, instead of choosing the option to ask general info about my case, this time I went with the one that gives info about inverviews, biometrics, etc.. The customer serv rep, said he was going to verify the processing times at my local office first and wow! he tells me that I am about 1 month pass the time, as the processing time listed on the website, 5 months is the one for my office, so yesterday when I was told that they were processing cases from January (8/9 months), was a joke!

I was transfered to the next level to customer service (Tier 2) to hear that the waiting time was 300 minutes, and given the option to be called back, (I imagine another mistake on my part), I did because I didn't have my phone charger with me. If no response by tomorrow I will call back and wait on the line as long as it takes, I am sick and tired of this.... luckythose of  you that got it done as it should be.

I just hope that my "troubles" could help someone not to find themselves in the same boat.

Same situation here. kept calling them over and over again a month after ther received my application and gave them a 6th or 7th call last week and guess what Iv;e found out? I was scheduled for biometrics for 08/08/13 but nothing came from the mail saying I have an appointment. I also talk to a Tier 2 officer most of the time so, even if the letter was lost in the mail, they should have told me long time that I missed my appointment so I should rescheduled it and not waiting about 5 months. I suggest that everytime you are waiting a letter or update from USCIS and they are way past the normal processing time, take an infopass. I will have my biometrics sched this Friday and hopefully, it will be faster from there. Having so much stress since I applied.

Went in for infopass appointment today, and guess what same story came to light, our ASC notices dated 08/01/2013 were printed from the USCIS computer by the same guy who last time suggested we make a 'SRMT Inquiry'

we never got anything in the mail, neither a response from USCIS customer service, so much time just wasted.

IO said to walk-in next week to my co-applicants even before my ASC date tongue.png

I might wait until the end of this month and I won't get anything from them, I will give them a call and will probably do an infopass. This is so frustrating.

THANKS for sharing your situation

and

So sorry to hear that you are also going through the same ordeal, as we are going.

Did you contact them? SRMT request made?

I am still waiting for 15 business days to be over, impatiently.

I got a yellow letter too (a Pre-Interview Notice) telling me to bring all the passports I've used and my state ID. It was more than a month ago and it's so frustrating knowing that looks like nothing is happening with my application. On December 11 will be the 5th month since they received my application.

Yea weird, I posted here after researching numerous other peoples timelines and figured something is wrong, and even ur lockbox is different from mine, this is getting interesting, I suggest you make an infopass appointment ASAP, they will be able to look it up and advise further this is going to be a long and painful procedure but i think its good enough time to start now. before one starts moving up the official chain of uscis

I also got that (pointless tongue.png) yellow letter to bring my license, OFCOURSE i will bring it

i got that somewhere in mid-october

US Citizenship General DiscussionNo biometrics appointment after 3 months from filing!!

I don't know what's with July 11th as priority date since I read a lot of posts saying they are having delays on their applications too (me as well). The only letter I got from them after the Notice of Receipt was the yellow letter (Pre-Interview Notice) saying that I need to bring all the passports I've used and my state ID.
One more month then I'll be beyond the normal processing time. This is giving me a lot of frustrations. Please keep posting all your updates so we can help out each other.

I am in Massachusetts and have not received a biometrics appointment either.  My priority date is 7/11/13.  I contacted the National Customer Service Center with a service request twice and have had no communication until today, when I received a yellow letter telling me to bring my driver's license to my interview!

As much as I wanted to go now if can, my Philippine passport expired last month. I am just praying that hopefully I will be done with the oath by the end of April so I can go early May. I am just happy that I am almost done with this process and looking really forward to get the evidence being a new USC.

You can go visit your grandfather now as the interview info they gave you was for a May date... Regardless you can travel now and have someone check your mail for the letter... They will give you some notice when they send it, so I would say at least a month at the earliest... No issue with travel after the interview... They ask a question on the oath letter "did you travel since your interview? yes or no" no question about length of stay or number of times.... Get there before you miss getting a chance to see him.... Congrats on the interview and Good Luck going forward!!!

Great news, I am sure you won't have any issues at the interview, just clarify the math error if need be... Good Luck!!!!

Thank you! I did make some corrections because the officer asked me if everything in my application are correct and I told her I need to make some corrections. the officer who interviewed was very nice. It feels like talking to a friend. Such a nice lady.

INTERVIEW IS FINALLY OVER!!! One more step to go...

The officer who interviewed me was very nice and accomodating. The interview took less than 15 minutes then she finally gave me the paper stating that I passed the interview and that I should be receiving an oath taking ceremony letter by May. Hopefully, I will be scheduled for the oath earlier than May as I have plans to visit my grandfather who is very sick and he wishes that we can see him before he goes. How long did you guys wait for your oat taking after your interview? Anybody?

Finally, after so many calls to the USCIS, I will be having my interview this Monday (2/3/14). I am a bit nervous after I noticed on my application I input the wrong amount on the total number of days out of the country for the last 5 years. I accidentally totaled the whole seven years. Hopefully, I will be a USC pretty soon. This could be the best birthday gift for me in May. I need some prayers guys. Thanks!

I just did and I could not wait just listening to the music so I made them call me back. After an hour, I got a call and I told the guy (Tier 2 officer) about my situation and guess what he told me?

"WE HAD YOU ON AUGUST 8 FOR YOUR BIOMETRICS AND YOU DID NOT SHOW UP!"

Are they freaking kidding me? I got nothing from the mail telling me I have an appointment on that date. And even if the mail got lost, I kept calling them a month after they received my appplication and no one, again, no one even the two Tier 2 officers I spoke with after August 8 mentioned that I missed my biometrics schedule. And now, after 5 months of waiting, which is the normal processing for N-400 application, they are telling me I missed my appointment.

I feel so down and frustrated at the same time. I feel like I did my part as the applicant for I kept calling them just to get an update and all they can tell me before was wait for 15 or 30 days after they sent a service request and now they told me this. I've never been this upset. I was gonna go on vacation this December hooping that it will be done by now and when I could not get a definite response so I moved it to April next year. But I am not sure if I will be done by then. GOD HAVE MERCY!!!

So now, they are sending another service request to a new biometrics schedule.

cray5ol.gifcray5ol.gifcray5ol.gifcray5ol.gifcray5ol.gif

Have you called and asked a tier 2 officer about your case? I would suggest you do that first thing in the morning. Two month is kind of long to not have an interview letter after the yellow letter has arrived. If you can't get any information from an IO, schedule an infopass and go in to your closest office to speak to someone.

Hopefully, by the end of this mont I will get something from them. This is so frustrating. And they don't even update the status on their website. I am tired of calling them. I did call them 5 times and I was also able to talk to three Tier 2 officer. The last one was the nicest and thats when I get the notice days after I talked to that officer.

I got the yellow notice several weeks ago and then a little over two weeks after that I got scheduled for interview....received the interview letter about 3 weeks after the yellow one.

If I were you I would not call again but rather schedule an infopass to go in to the local office to find out what the issue is. If you abandon your process at this point, all the time you've waited so far goes down the drain along with the money you paid.

Hang in there a bit longer and go to the office if it's not too much of a hassle and get direct answers from an actual IO. Based on the timelines you should have been done a long time ago. I'm sorry you are going through this.

Looks like when you call the USCIS, they are not consistent to what they tell you. I got a yellow notice a month ago saying it was a Pre-Interview Notice telling me that I need to bring all my passports (old and current) and my state ID. I know some applicants who are in the same boat as me got the same yelloy paper but do you guys heard from USCIS since? And by the way, I haven't receive any biometrics schedule. After my Notice of Receipt, the next notice I got from them was the yellow paper. I am thinking of abandoning my application since some applicants from Hawaii were already got their new citizenship and to think that they applied days (if not weeks) after I applied. i am still under the 5 months average time of their processing but I am getting frustrated.

jagamateroMalePhilippines2013-11-19 00:59:00
US Citizenship General DiscussionN-400 July 2013 Filers

I've been quiet because until now I haven't receive anything from USCIS after that Notice of Receipt of my application sent on July 10. I kept on calling them and they are not consistent on what they are telling me.

First attempt to call after a month of no activity with my application (after 30 days of filing): Customer service told me to wait for another 15 days since he has a limited access to my account and he sent a request to the USCIS main office for me.

Second time around (after 15 days since my first call): They told me to wait for another 15 days and give them a call if I won't get anything from them.

Third time (after 15 days since my second call): I talke to a Tier 2 IO and the lady told me that Iam still okay since I am still under the 3 months period for them to send me the biometrics schedule.

Fourth time (today): I asked for a Tier 2  officer right away but the lady said there is no need for that because she can help me with my inquiry. She also said that the normal time processing for the USCIS is about 6 months and can take up to a year and should give them a call after October 6 if I get nothing again.

Right now, I am frustrated and I want to tell them they can have my application fee as long as they tell me what exactly is happening with my application. Is it so hard for them to tell me if they lost my application and I need to send a new one? Or maybe the one who has my papers is on vacation? I am thinking of asking help from an Action Line of a TV station that helps resolve issues.

Man it's quiet in here! I hope more inline statuses and interview letters start rolling in soon. Come on July filers! If I can't be happy for myself as yet at least let me be happy for you! smile.png

I don't think so. My aplication was received on July 11th. I did my biometrics on 08/07/13. And my interview is scheduled for sep 30th. I don't know what to say but as I know you should recieve the biometrics letter within 30 day after submitting the application.

I called the customer service again yesterday after I have not receive any from them after I gave them a call a month from the date they receive my application. Since the customer service seemed to have no idea what is happening and had no any clue as to what have happened and keeps telling me that I should wait for another 2 weeks, I asked her to transfer me to a higher level of customer service. I left my phone number and after 3 hours I got a call back. The lady told me that I should only get worry if I have not receive the biometrics appointment after 3 months from the date they received my application and she told me that I should be receiving the letter soon. She also said that in some cases (I did not ask the reason why), some filers receive the biometrics appointment in less than a month, some more than a month and some get it before they hit the 3 months line.

It is so unfortunate for us because we just want them to tell us what is happening because if you go to their website, it tells us that we should be receiving the biometrics appointment within 30 days and to give them a call if not. Which I did but unfortunately, it's almost two months now and I have not receive anything yet.

I just notice that those who sent their applications on July 10th and 11th doesn't have biometrics schedule yet. I wonder if they haven't receive anything yet from USCIS.

I'm such a dope.  There is a VJ member going through Hawaii in this thread you can talk to.  RPRR is that member and you can see their timeline for Hawaii and click on their name that I linked to their profile in order to message them.

US Citizenship General DiscussionN-400 July 2013 Filers

Yes, I filed N-400 and the fingerprints were taken at the airport when I got back from vacation and not at the USCIS office here in Honolulu. I am not sure if they can use it to check my background. I am just hoping now that after I receive a biometrics schedule then everything will be moving smoothly. Is there a possibility too that they might have misplaced my application and that's the reason why it is taking them so long to give me an appointment? I know that they need my fingerprints to check my background and if my fringerprints taken at the airports cannot be used, then I'm assuming that my application is just there sitting on their desk and nothing is being done about it. This is a frustration on my part and I could not believe that I have to wait this long just for my biometrics schedule.

But, thank you so much for your response. I really appreciate it. I just need to talk to someone who could at least put my mind into a more relaxed mode. Again, mahalo!

Hi jagametero.  To answer your question most of the July filers have received their biometrics letters and had their appointments so far.  We're still waiting for updates from some July filers on their biometrics appointments, but according to the date range you mentioned for when you sent your immigration package and their date when they received it then your biometrics appointment should have been scheduled in early August.  However I'm assuming you filed an N400.  We don't have anyone going through Hawaii to compare with here but there might be someone in one of the other monthly threads.

Also there is one exception someone mentioned to me when you won't have a biometrics appointment.  I got a response earlier in this thread when we hadn't received a biometrics appointment letter and it appears it may apply to your case from what you described about having your finger prints done when traveling in December.  Here is the response I think applied to your question quoted below.

If indeed you had your biometrics done when you traveled last December then you'd fall under the 15 month rule and may not need it again.  Otherwise I'd suggest calling the USCIS customer service office and making an inquiry about the biometrics letter.  Also you could ask to speak with a level two officer about your case.  Think of everything you want to know or ask before calling them and write it down so you remember to ask them.  They specifically answer your questions, but only the questions you ask.  We've found they don't elaborate or offer more information than is asked of them.

-----------------------------

Side note on our N400 case online on the USCIS website:  It still says initial review and has not be update for our completed biometrics appointment or any progress on our case since initial review.  We've also never received any email updates about our case even though we turned in the paperwork to receive updates.

US Citizenship General DiscussionN-400 July 2013 Filers

I mailed my application last July 10 and they received it on July 13. I received a receipt notice regarding my application that they receive it and they encash my check, but after almost 2 months, I haven't received any biometrics schedule yet. My receipt notice states that "Upon receipt of all Record Checks, you will be scheduled to appear for an interview at your local USCIS field office." I don't think that this means, I will no longer need to have biometrics because from what I heard from my friends who applied before, they all have to do fingerprinting.

Is that normal? I called the USCIS 2 weeks ago and they could not tell me why they never sent me an appointment. The customer service told me to give them a call again after two weeks which is today and it is the same thing. Did you guys (July filers) received any biometrics appintment yet? By the way my city is Honolulu and I am wondering if any of you have the same situation as mine.

Also, I went on vacation in the Philippines last December and when I came back, they took my fingerprints and I am slo wondering if the USCIS can use that for my background check since they are within the same department. Please help. I am very anxious about not having a biometrics appointment after almost two months now.

Thanks and I really appreciate any clarification.

If he was out of status, he was out of status. I don't see how you can cover that up without lying on your own application. Your intentions are good but failure to disclose information to an officer is a dangerous thing.

Was he the USC? Were you?

no, he is not, we divorce already six years ago and I don't know where he is right now we don't have kid. I'm married now to a USC.

thank you for reply. I supposed to send this last sat. but I decided to mail this on Tuesday. and your reply is a big help again thank you.
