I have a friend who went there this morning. She was on the line but sadly they were turned away without any "white slip". I think that would only apply for those who were entertained but embassy cancelled all the appointments last Aug19. I hope they would give us consideration given this kind of circumstances. If in case you were, able to resched your appointment please let us know. :) let us help each other.

Yes for sure. I will let you guys know. Im trying it everytime but still got the same response. Still negative. Keep everyone to posted.

Ugh..this is really beginning to suck :( I called also and they said I should call back Thursday to reschedule. Hopefully we both get a schedule before August ends. I so regret rescheduling the original interview date. We were supposed to be schedule for August 29....such a wrong move ;(

Does your fiance got the white paper? Coz i read that for those who showed up at the gate were given this paper and they would come back anytime not later than aug 29 and doesnt need to resched the interview. Im curious coz you told me he went to embassy his morning. But im not sure coz maybe this instructions are only for non immigrant applicants.

My fiance ended up staying in Batangas and will wake up 1:30am to see what the weather is like. Hoping that the rain is a just a one day thing and those who weren't interview yesterday will have a chance to get interview before August ends. It would totally suck to have to wait another month again after waiting for so long to get interviewed. Anyways be safe everyone smile.png

hopefully your fiance will made it tomorrow.is he from lipa? why he didnt stay at the hotel in manila tonight?

PhilippinesTrouble calling for interview appointment

Hi all! My fiancé in Samar is having problems getting thru the embassy in Manila to schedule her interview. The number ((02) 982-5555 keeps telling her she needs to do a DS-160 before she can schedule her interview. But visa journey reads K visas don't need to.

How can she get past this roadblock and/or talk to a real person? Is there another number to call?

Thank you all!!

You can shecdule the appointment for her using this USA numbers 7035202235. And you can just actually schedule it online, easier.

PhilippinesQuestions About Visa Interview and CFO

We are getting ready for the Visa Interview/CFO and had some questions about the forms:

1.  DS-156--do we attach the Visa photo and if so, how?

2.  Forms with 2 or more pages--do we staple them?

3.  I-134--do we staple the ITR and other financial documents to it?

4.  CENOMAR--how long is it good for?  Ours is about 8 months old.

Thanks

1. No need to attach the photo. I saw mine during my interview that they are the one who attach it
2. DO NOT staple any documents. I use paper clip on mine
3. I did not staple my I-134 to any supporting documents. I just arrange my aos papers all together in one folder.
4. I think CENOMAR is good for 6months, not sure someone correct me if im wrong. But better to give them the LATEST NSO DOCUMENTS like CENOMAR BC. NBI clearance should be updated too.

PhilippinesReaction to Immunizations

My advice (from a non-medical professional) but having gotten many shots over many years. Exercise the arm/arms you got the shot in, just easy movements, moving the arm around, to get the fluids moving, and take a couple of asprin to reduce fever/aches. Drink lots of fluids (non-alcholic!)  Get a good nights sleep if you can afterwards. Most of these vaccines work by actually giving you a slight infection so that your body produces the correct anitbodies to fight off any new infections.  So feeling a little sick is the sign that it's working.

PhilippinesMarrying wth a prenup contract?

ok, like the previous poster, I'm not a lawyer, but I have been researching this for a few months.

From what my lawyer explained to me...

1) Both parties have to be counseled by their own lawyer, explaining in detail the provisions of the prenup before signing.  He did not advise even having lawyers from the same firm advising each partner.  Even recommended her lawyer being able to explain the prenup in her native language.

2) A prenup has to be fair and reasonable to both parties, or can be and usually is overturned in a divorce court.

3) Most prenups have a graduated payment.  i.e. if divorced less than say 1 year, they are get so much, after 3 years, another amount, etc.  Again, from what I was told, if  you don't include something and there is a big difference in income, most divorce judges will void the prenup and impose an alimony anyway so you might as well make it reasonable.

4) You can make a end date if you want, say 10 years. The point, at least in my case where my spouse would be get 1/2 of my retirement in any settlement.  Or you can amend or cancel the agreement at any time, as long as both parties agree.

5) In my case both my financial planner and lawyer recommend the prenup because of assets my deceased parent placed in a trust that I oversee for the benefit of my nieces/nephews, and my own children, if I have any.

I've already discussed this with my fiancee, had to explain to her what a prenup was, and she has agreed that it is a good idea.

Just my 2 pesos worth.  You really need to look at your individual circumstances, and make your own decision.  If you can, ask a lawyer if you need more advice.

PhilippinesFilipino travling to the Philippines on US passport

The only times I've heard of dual citizens running into problems were a few years ago, when France still had mandatory national service (military), some dual US/French citizens (most did not even know that they were dual citizens) would travel to France, find out that they were dual citizens, and get drafted into the French Army, nothing the US could do about it.

That being said, the problem might arise in the reverse case...say a dual US/Filipino citizen spent most of his life in the Philippines, never really gave his US citizenship much though, then as an adult moved to the US.  He most likely didn't think about registering for the Selective Service on his 18th birthday and my now be ineligible for student loans, goverment jobs, etc.

Not saying that it's a big problem, or that other problems may not be insurmountable.  Just saying citizenship, in any country, is or should be a big thing and serious thought to the consequenses and obligations associated with that citzenship.

PhilippinesNOA2 Approved on July 29 - Post-NOA2 Docs sent!

You really need to check the attitude at the door.  Attacking people trying to advise you is not the way to get help, especially Hank, who if you'd bothered to look at some of these threads, would have seen that there is currently a Thank you Hank thread with over 2 pages of people thanking him for his help.  You probably just alienated all of them.  In the time it took you to post 3 times in different areas, and demanding responses to questions already answered, you could have read Hanks guide and gotten answers to questions  you probably haven't even thought of yet.

Didn't have to go back to the CFO, they passed her the same day, just took a bit longer it seems, she said they asked a lot of questions about us.  Don't think they can schedule the CFP seminar, just have to show up and take your chances, think they only do 30 a day for the US bound people, 15 in the morning, 15 in the afternoon. First come, first served.

I'll be with April for the interview, so I'll keep an eye out for your fiancee and say hi.

QUACK!!!  Think I'm quacking up

One more hurdle completed, well at least I think so.  April was told to come back today for her immunizations, so I'm assuming everything went okay at her medical exam.  Now I just have to get off my okole and put our package together for the embassy interview.

Oh, and she said they did give her a hard time at the CFO semminar (don't know exactly how), but she said she didn't get out till after 2pm and was the last one out.

PhilippinesQuack, Quack, Quack, HONK

Think we got most of our ducks lined up, just one possible problem.

Got all the documents we'll need, NBI Clearance (took a month since she has a "common name" , CENOMAR, BC's, the Japanese Police Clearance (took almost 2 months!) got our interview scheduled for Aug 26 at 7:30am, I booked my trip 22-27 Aug, hotel reserved.  I'm going to print out all our DS forms and the rest of the package this weekend.

April did the CFO yesterday, sorry no review, didn't get any feedback from April except that she went.  She's going for the medical today, staying at a nearby hotel with her Mom for support.  Hope it goes okay, cause she was sick last Friday and said she still has a cough.  I also hope she doesn't get anyone else sick!

After that I'm planning on going back next month to bring her back sometime after the 15th (haven't bought tickets yet) so that she can stay for her Sister's and Aunt's birthdays.

Thanks to everyone here whos' offered advice and support!

thought I saw in another post here that the embassy might be adding additional interview times in the afternoon to maybe make up for the missed interviews? Hope everyone is safe, and this clears up in time for our interview on Monday! I'm scheduled to fly in on Thursday morning.

You guys are buying rings already?  I thought it best to wait a couple years and make sure she deserves it.  Start small, then trade up every 5 years or so, right?  dancin5hr.gif

You talking about the ring? or the bride? Once they hit 40 trade her in for 2 20s? That is if you're wired for 220! haha

PhilippinesANNOUNCEMENT! Usem manila closed tomorrow Aug 26 monday

That Sucks!! was already to have our interview tomorrow! We double checked all our forms, got our clothes all ready, and now this! Thought our journey was going fairly well, this is the first real hiccup.  I wonder if we'd be able to reschedule for Tuesday? Because I'm scheduled to fly home Tuesday evening and I can't really stay any longer since I'm already using advanced vacation time from work.

Think there are a lot of other people in the same boat though, cause a bunch of people rescheduled to tomorrow from the troubles last week.  They are certainly building up quite a backlog.

PhilippinesInterview today but USEM closed

Looks like it'll be a party on the 26th! We're scheduled for 7:30am also, although I  made my appointment over a month ago.  Maybe with all the new interviews the CO's will cut the interviews short to get everyone done.

Also, just got a email from Phil Air, my flight got rescheduled 6 hours later, so arriving at 10:45 on Thursday.  Hope the waters have gone down enough to get to my hotel by then.  Staying at the Hotel H2O for the first time, hope we can walk it with out needing swim wear!

April-n-GaryMalePhilippines2013-08-20 21:20:00
PhilippinesCan someone enlighten me.

Well, finally I'm able to get online and report back.  April and I were scheduled for the interview on 26 Aug, but like most here didn't go because of the notification from the embassy that they would be closed.  After not getting any idea of when we would be able to reschedule and no new notifications from the embassy we decided to take our chances and just show up this morning.

We showed up at about 6:45am and there was already a pretty long line, asked around and found the line for the K-1 visas, the line for the B-1/B-2 visas was double the length.  It took awhile till we made it to the front of the line, the helper was very helpful, I asked and she confirmed that it was super busy trying to process all the backlog, so I guess we weren't the only ones taking a chance.  We had high hopes cause we didn't see anyone else getting turned away.

We made it into the outer waiting area, went over our documents one last time, then one of the helpers double checked it for us then we dropped off the package at window 37(?).  The place was really packed so we couldn't find any seats inside right away so we went back out to wait for our number to be called.

After about an hour, we were called with a bunch of others for the biometrics, went by pretty smooth, the CO looked bored, guess he has to repeat the same thing over and over all day long.

This time we found seats inside, with great foresight I brought a paperback book (who uses them anymore! I'm a kindle/ipad fanatic) so the time went pretty smoothly, my honey was able to watch her favorite cartoon, Oogie and the roaches?  Waited for a bit more, got called to the window for the FO, she asked us some basic questions, asked for all the supporting documents listed in the website and Hanks guide, CENOMAR, BC, NBI, PC, etc. only asked a couple of questions, I asked if the were especially busy, and she confirmed that the were working hard and bringing the backlog down.

Another wait, then the American CO, a younger male interviewer, seemed pretty laid back, but April thought he talked too fast to understand all the time.  Swore us in, then starting asking us questions.  He asked me what I did for work, asked us how we met, When we got engaged, April showed off her engagement ring. Then the one question that tripped April up, and one I haven't seen here yet.  He asked "What does he (me) do that gets on your nerves?"  At first April didn't understand the question and was a bit nervous, so she started explaining how I'm such a nice guy, so understanding...rofl.gif  He then repeated the question, and I said, what I did that made her mad. So she said that I like to tickle her and teaser her a bit. His follow up question was "Even with that do you think you can stay married to him?" and she said of course!dancin5hr.gif  He also asked to look at our pictures together, and asked some questions about them, where they were taken, and who was in them.  Finished with saying that everything looked good, take a seat and wait for the next window.  Didn't tell us we were approved, but we took it as meaning that.

For the last window, 68 the called our name with a bunch of others, we were asked to confirm the delivery, and we changed so that April could pick it up at a 2Go office close to her house.

Walked back to the hotel in time to check out on time, about 11:45am after checking out went to the hotel Spa to get a massage and did a first for me, the fish spa! Where the little fishies eat the dead skin from you body. In fact this one was a whole body one where you get in a pool and the fishes can roam all over! ewww, kind of weird feeling!  Then off to Gerry's Grill for some food!

Now I'm at the airport waiting for my flight and deciding if I'll come back next month to accompany April home, or let her come on her own.

Good Luck everyone else, and my recommendation is to just show up and give it a shot!

Yup, 19 yr old needs letter of consent, but I think only CFO may ask for it, don't think the US Embassy cares.  Niblet, think there were at least 3 couples that would match your discription last Monday.  If your fiancee dresses like your prfofile pic, I'd fly back to look for her rofl.gif

Latest update!! guess I was using the wrong UID number on the 2go tracking site, the 3 looked like a 9 to me.  But check just now and saw this....

8/31/2013 9:12:33 AM OUT FOR DELIVERY

Guess I can start making flight reservations, although we're not in a rush cause April wants to stay for her sister's and Aunt's birthdays next month, so she won't fly till at least 20 Sept.  Still debating if I should go get her, or let her come on her own.

Any views from the peanut gallery?
