PhilippinesFrom J1 to K1

Hello guys. I need some opinions, I am a former J1( exchange visitor) visa holder last year, and that is how I met my fiance. He filed the K1 visa so we can be together again.  My question is, would this be an issue or a problem on my interview on Monday? Has anyone here was the same situation as me? Or know someone who has same case as me? Should I worry or something... cray5ol.gif

PhilippinesAdministrative processing delay time after interview for K1

I spoke to someone at the embassy 8/15/13 and was told they got the NBI with AKA, but still waiting for HK clearance. So we contacted HK police by phone and email. Whoa!!!! they mailed the HK clearance on 7/30 and arrived Philippines 8/2/13. It's a registered letter. So now I am really getting concerned grrr! Emailed the embassy asking for clarification as to the status of HK clearance. They will reply in 7 working days. Weekend passed by and then typhoon closing and holiday 8/19-21. Still nothing. I'll wait Wednesday next week for an email response. Looks like we got caught up in AP black hole.

That was terrifying. Hopefully it wouldnt be more than a month. We are all getting crazzzzyyy here

PhilippinesAdministrative processing delay time after interview for K1

My fiancee received 221(g) on 8/1 for a new NBI with AKA, and awaiting HK police clearance. New NBI was submitted via 2go 8/6.  Then status was updated 8/8 (receipt of new NBI....stil in AP). We called HK last week and was informed HK clearance was sent directly to the US Embassy.  Friday 8/9 was a holiday.  Latest update shows 8/12 (must have received HK clearance already....stil in AP).  Yeah it's getting antsy....just waiting patiently........

Hi any updates on your visa? You got it or not yet?

PhilippinesAdministrative processing delay time after interview for K1

221(g) for the reason that they havent checked my medical results during the interview.. but when i contacted SLEC.. they already submitted it 3 days before my interview.. i actually dont understand why it's taking too long for them to review my case.. called them to ask what's the reason, the agent just told me they are not allowed to give any information regarding the process..

Did you had your medical a week before the interview? Or earlier?

We worked on our packet 3 stuff already and pretty much ready to go.
Hopefully your fiance went to the doctor to check what kind of vaccinations she needs.
My fiance did, and turns out she needs 2 vaccinations, one month apart from another.

The rest of the time...just waiting until she visits me in september.

Thanks for the heads-up, I didn't even think of vaccinations to be honest. I'll mention it to my fiancee for sure to avoid any delay. Coincedentially, my fiancee is visiting me in September also! Can't wait! smile.gif BTW, where did you find a list of what you need for your Packet 3 material? I read through the K-1 guides and did not see any reference to 'Packet 3' by name--maybe I am just missing it...

Anyways, good luck and I hope everything goes smoothly for you.

Here's a link to the US embassy site in Japan. It has a checklist for everything you need and what you need to do all the way until the interview. Pretty helpful. I read through the forums about "Packet 3, Packet 4" but its pretty just the forms your fiance gets from/needs to submit to the embassy after the NOA-2.

Thanks, and good luck to you too!!

Hi all,

Has anyone received any touches lately? This waiting is going to make me crazy I think... wacko.gif A couple more months at least until I can expect to see any change I guess.

What are you all doing to pass the time?

Hey Deryck

I'm still on the same boat as you. Still checking up on status everyday.
In the mean time, I'm just doing what I usually do....Go to work to get my mind off of this stuff, and just enjoy my hobbies.

PhilippinesHow many 2x2 passport pics needed including CFO?

I've read/seen that CFO wants 2X2 AND 1X1 photos (just to be difficult). Joan just told me that CFO took a digital photo of her while she was there, so maybe no need now (I would bring it anyway--think of it as cheap insurance!) Remember to get more 2x2's than you think you need: you will need them at the AOS stage!

PhilippinesWhat the hell is going on with NVC???

I don't think the embassy generates the letters. Its done at NVC.

Yes but wouldn't the embassy know if your appointment was cancelled? They phone call sounds fishy. Call the embassy or call NVC and tell them that you got a strange call and want to confirm that it came from them.

PhilippinesCFO Blues

My wife just got her sticker today at the Cebu CFO.  She had already taken the class.

We've had a lot of headaches in Cebu though, at NSO, at the airport flying to HongKong, seems even if you have everything there, Cebu wants one more document.

That must be the way they are trained there, by whoever is in charge.

Goodluck,  I'm ordering tickets for my wife in a few minutes, finally done!  smile.png

Philippinesreport of marriage form pls help....

does it mean under wife NAME -last name and first name would be my name before I get married? and number 8 question RESIDENCE is Philippines where I lived before I fly in the US???

and how about the bottom of the form do I need to fill that up too?

EMBASSY/CONSULATE OF THE REPUBLIC OF THE PHILIPPINES

We just completed our ROM. As noted above the civil status is before the wedding. Joan listed her maiden name but was told to list Honolulu Hawaii as her residence. The bottom of the form is necessary (parents, etc. and the wedding details). Include the place where you sign the form in the "at" space (we forgot and the consulate filled it in for us). You will need 4 copies with original signatures (not photocopies). You do not need to have the forms notarized if you appear in person. You can pay in cash if you appear in person. Include a self-addressed stamped priority mail envelope if you want your copy mailed back to you. We had our copy within a week.

PhilippinesWe're Engaged!!!

Yeah Bohol was beautiful, I would love to retire there someday.  What is a parental advice form?  I sent in a lot of evidence of our first 2 meetings.  I also plan on being there for the interview so that should take care of the ongoing relationship question.  I just got my NOA1 text and email so we are on our way!  My questions now are mostly about timing.  When to fill out all the DS forms, doing the medical, CFO and interview.  Do they let you schedule the interview on a certain date or do they just give you a date?

Hi Steve! Nice that we have a Bohol engagement in common! I know that it will forever be my favorite place. A parental advice form is needed if Ema is between 21 and 25 years of age. Parental consent is required if she is between 18 and 21. Personally I think they are stupid because I think the legal age to marry is 18. You don't need this for your I129F. You need it for CFO. You deal with the DS forms and the medical after your petition is approved and you get your MNL number. At that point find any post by Hank_ and follow his guide in his signature. It is a phenomenal help. You can schedule the interview online after you get MNL and pay the fee at BPI (get receipt number---this is all in Hank's guide). The medical is first come first serve so get there EARLY. St. Luke's is apparently becoming a pain in the butt about wanting the letter from NVC with the MNL number, so that might be a minor issue. Schedule the interview after the medical--a week away is usually a safe bet. The CFO----ahhhh, the CFO...it will either be a complete breeze, a nightmare or somewhere in between...absolutely no way to tell in advance. I don't think you have to wait for your MNL to take the seminar, but you need the seminar/sticker on her passport/visa to leave the country. Joan did her seminar before the interview and simply went back for the sticker when she received her visa.

Hope this helps and sorry if my earlier post was confusing--I had "Bohol on the Brain!"

Philippinesearthquake in bohol

Yeah I was in Simi Valley during the Northridge quake on the second floor of a 2 store house and it was pretty scary.  I am just thankful we missed this quake, having just been in Bohol.  I am kind of use to earthquakes having lived in CA most my life but Ema would have freaked out.

Yes that one was intense...it was my first Earthquake and it scared the....out of me. I feel for the people going through this now...the aftershocks are terrifying too. 75 lives lost and the ancient churches that Joan and I visited last year are gone. Nature can be so cruel at times...

Philippinesearthquake in bohol

7.2 is huge. I was in Los Angeles California for the 1994 Northridge Quake and that was "only" a 6.8. It is an incredibly frightening experience and the aftershocks are unnerving. Stay strong Bohol/Cebu...

PhilippinesFilipino Fiancee after three weeks here wants to go home!

Homesickness is a tough one. We are in Waikiki on Oahu. Feel free to PM us for our Facebook addresses. Joan has been here for four months so she might be able to relate to what your fiancee is going through. Joan enrolled in English language classes almost immediately after arriving here (4 days!) and that helped to keep her busy. Have you checked Lunalahaina High School to see if they have an adult school attached to it? We were also busy planning the wedding. Perhaps she can get more involved with that and rekindle her excitement for being here. Joan and I also belong to several FB groups where we share experiences and develop friendships. One lady just arrived in Hawaii and she and Joan are already talking about getting together. Here are the addresses to those groups:

I am 52 and Joan is 23. It was not an issue at CFO. Go back and try again. Tell her to be strong and confident. Go with her if you are in the Philippines but know that you will be sitting outside for the whole thing. Maybe your presence will bolster her confidence. She needs that sticker and can't let CFO bully her. Good luck.

PhilippinesHonolulu Civil Surgeon

Yes, the key phrase Tahoma is "whether they can find a reasonably priced civil surgeon.") In Hawaii it seems like $125.00-$400.00 is the going rate. Far cry from $40.00!

I am going to print this and include it with the DS 3025.

www.uscis.gov/files/form/i-693instr.pdf

3. What if I am a K nonimmigrant visa holder and already had a medical exam overseas?

If you were admitted as a:
a. K-1 fiancé(e) or a K-2 child of a K-1 fiancé(e); or as a
b. K-3 spouse of a U.S. citizen or a K-4 child of a K-3 spouse of a U.S. citizen; and
c. You received a medical examination prior to admission, then:

(1) You are not required to have another medical examination as long as your Form I-485 is filed within one year of your overseas medical examination, and the medical examination did not reveal a Class A medical condition, or if you did have a Class A medical condition, you received a waiver of inadmissibility and have complied with the terms and conditions on the waiver.

(2) Even if a new medical examination is not required, you must still show proof that you complied with the vaccination requirements. If the vaccination record (DS 3025) was not properly completed and included as part of the original overseas medical examination report, you will have to have the vaccination report completed by a designated civil surgeon. In this case, you are required to submit the vaccination record and page 1 of Form I-693.

Thanks Dave and Hank,

I am no expert but Joan's vaccination form seems incomplete. I think she needs boosters for the MMR and measles vaccines. ;( I was on the phone with two doctors fighting with them that she did not need a new medical. The "best" option so far is a clinic in town with a $250.00 fee that includes vaccines if needed. I think the USCIS needs to lower the poverty levels because of the amount of money this process is taking from our bank accounts!

OK so here is a different opinion! It is your wedding day--a civil wedding in a court house does not make it any less special. Wear the dress that you have dreamed of wearing on your day! It is the maid-of-honors job to keep the train off of the snow! Go for it and congrats!
