Philippinesfilipina fiancee

Welcome and good luck! There are so many great people and resources here--especially Hank, Harpa and Darnell. As mentioned, spend time going through the guides and old posts--most of the answers to your questions are there, but ask anything and people will answer you very soon. It can be a long frustrating and uncertain process. Hang in there.

PhilippinesCFO Seminar in Manila (May 30, 2013)

Joan did not have her visa for the CFO in Manila. She returned for the sticker later....

PhilippinesCFO Seminar in Manila (May 30, 2013)

UPDATE: You guys can use your Passport as one of the valid ID's required. It is after all a government issued identification. Check out this post. His fiancee is the "Joan" I mentioned on my topic/thread post. Apparently, she just used her Passport AND Postal ID.

http://www.visajourn...-cfo-in-manila/

I may have been mistaken...Joan had her nbi too...but passport and postal should count as government issued ids...again though the more you can bring the better! Remember that they look for different documents on a case by case basis...

PhilippinesCFO Seminar in Manila (May 30, 2013)

Hi, I'm assuming you're Janice? :)

Yes, you can take the CFO Seminar before the interview. You just have to go back there after you get your Visa and have them put the emigrant sticker on your passport.

Yes, a postal ID is accepted.

Joan is 23 and wasn't asked of any parental consent letter/form. But it won't hurt to bring one. :) Just bring all the docs you can bring, it's a case-to-case basis. It really depends on the counselor.

You're very much welcome. Glad to help out. :)

Yes Joan was not asked for the advice nor the cenomar, but better to have it...it really seems like a case by case basis...you want to have all your documents just in case.

PhilippinesUpdate on Hawaii Marriage Certificate

Mahalo Steve, this shall be usefull, when I need more copies of my marriage certificate. So I guess your wife is learning Ilocano now, and making a lot of trips to Waipahu for food.

HA! No there are plenty of tagalog speaking pinay here. I do work in Waipahu, but we haven't shopped there yet...well, not true...Elena's catered our wedding..yum!

I cannot find the thread where we discussed the virtues of dealing with the State of Hawaii for anything important like obtaining a certificate of marriage in time to avoid going out of status. Here is a happy update: http://www.visajourn...iage-in-hawaii/

PhilippinesMedical Report From St. Luke's GIven On CD

So you just filed the DS 3025 and never saw Civil Surgeon?  DId your wife have to get booster shots in the US?  Candy was told she needs a booster in 30 days, and it is a close call as to whether she will be in Manila or New York at that point.  If she has to go to a CS, so be it, but if it can be avoided with a few sensible steps now, I am trying to find out what those steps are.

No, we just sent in the 3025 (and a copy of the instructions I posted above). It was only mentioned in passing at the AOS interview. Joan did not need any booster. We did show the vaccine form to our personal physician and he said that she was up to date and good for a long time.

[Edit] Where are you from in New York? I am from Long Island originally. I took Joan "home" to meet mom over Christmas. It was her first time to see real snow!

PhilippinesMedical Report From St. Luke's GIven On CD

You just need the vaccination report when you do your AOS after she gets in the US and you get married within 90 days.

You would need to find a civil surgeon to transcribe the vaccination report to another form (no need to do another medical); it will cost you less than 50 dollars for this official transcription. The civil surgeon will hand you a sealed envelope, which you will then send along with the other requirements for Adjustment of Status (I-485). As for the CD, I haven't had any need for it, so far.

So far, so good. :) I hope she doesn't forget about the need to attend the CFO seminar and get the sticker on her passport.

Note: I did my St Luke's medical exam Sept 2013. I am now in the US, married, waiting for my Permanent Residency card after sending the AOS papers last Dec. 30.

The CS is not always necessary and is sometimes a lot more than $50.00!

Are you K1?

www.uscis.gov/files/form/i-693instr.pdf

3. What if I am a K nonimmigrant visa holder and already had a medical exam overseas?

If you were admitted as a:

a. K-1 fiancé(e) or a K-2 child of a K-1 fiancé(e); or as a

b. K-3 spouse of a U.S. citizen or a K-4 child of a K-3 spouse of a U.S. citizen; and

c. You received a medical examination prior to admission, then:

 (1) You are not required to have another medical examination as long as your Form I-485 is filed within one year of your overseas medical examination, and the medical examination did not reveal a Class A medical condition, or if you did have a Class A medical condition, you received a waiver of inadmissibility and have complied with the terms and conditions on the waiver.

(2) Even if a new medical examination is not required, you must still show proof that you complied with the vaccination requirements. If the vaccination record (DS 3025) was not properly completed and included as part of the original overseas medical examination report, you will have to have the vaccination report completed by a designated civil surgeon. In this case, you are required to submit the vaccination record and page 1 of Form I-693.

Green Card in hand with no RFE!

Philippinesmedical exam results wont be released unless...

I work with children with severe disabilities within the school system. There are a lot of immigrants from a lot of countries (not just PI) in Hawaii. Some of them have children with severe disabilities. You won't get denied because of your son's autism. SLEM probably just wants a recent diagnosis to move on. Should be "routine" from there. How old is your son (or did I miss that?) If he is school age then get as many records as you can from his physicians/schools and go to your local school and make an appointment with the school principal. Explain that your son has "special needs" and request an assessment to see if he qualifies for special education services. IF there is a need for a cognitive assessment then request to have one conducted in his native language (unless he is fluent in English). Cite the case Diana v. Board of Education if the school objects (Diana states that all children have the right to be assessed in their home language). Good luck.

PhilippinesIs frontloading the I-129f packet necessary?

I am disabled too. I had an attorney review our packet (1 hour, $200.00--worth the investment for the advice--but NOT worth the $2,000.00 for her to file for us--we filed on our own--no problems). The advice from the attorney was to focus on our relationship and not the fact that I am disabled (you don't want USCIS to think the your fiancee is a caregiver). Just provide evidence that you love each other and you will be fine! Send EVERYTHING you have except the kitchen sink! The more you send the less they can ask for! This was what we sent:

PhilippinesK1 Fiancee Visa interview preparation

Hi everyone, i am just wondering.
1.How do you prepare your documents for visa interview? Do i have to put the original copies and photocopies in one envelope or it is done separately?

2.How do you file your evidence of genuine relationship?

3.Except for DS-160,Is there any other forms i need to fill up and bring during the interview?

Please help,i want to be prepared during my interview. Thank you

Hi Chaves!

This is old post of ours showing how we organized all of the papers. Everything went fine for us last June (2013). Please note that some forms that we included are no longer required. You might cross-check this list with the embassy letter per Hank's advice...there was no need to bring the entire I-129F but again cross-check this with the embassy letter. GOOD LUCK!!!

I know that we each have our own way of organizing the materials for the interview and CFO (in the Philippines), but this is how Joan and I organized ours. Hopefully it will make it easy to find the papers when asked for them. There are five 9X12 envelopes with originals and two photocopies of the contents separated by paper clips?easy to hand over each set of documents or photocopies on demand. Here is what we have:

Envelope 1 (CFO?Philippine specific)

Registration form?two copies

Copy of my passport (bio page)

Copy of my birth certificate

Collage of photos from my three visits?three copies (3, not photocopied 2 more times)

Notarized Parental Advice

Copy of Joan?s parent?s letter to me accepting my request for her hand in marriage (in Tagalog and translated by Joan into English)

1x1 and 2x2 passport style photos

Joan?s Passport and copies of her bio page

Joan?s Cenomar and copies

Joan?s Postal ID and copies

My 1040 (ITR) cover sheet with SS# X?ed out (proof that I am singe)

Joan?s NBI in case they ask for it.

Envelope 2 (Embassy forms)

BPI Visa Receipt

Appointment Confirmation from website

NVC letter

NOA1

NOA2

DS-156?2 copies

DS-156K?2 copies

DS-157?2 copies

DS-160 Part 1 (and 2 but part 2 is not needed?the whole form printed)?2 copies (only 1 needed)

Joan?s Birth Certificate

Joan?s NBI

Joan?s Cenomar

Notarized Parental Advice

Joan?s Police Clearance (not required because Joan has not lived outside of the Philippines, but she wanted to get it)

3 2x2 photos (no photocopies)

Envelope 3 (Copy of original I-129F packet including original receipts)

Only one copy of this packet

Envelope 4 (Embassy financial packet)

I-1134

2012 W-2

2012 ITR (1040)

Last 4 pay stubs

Letter from bank (statement of deposits)

Proof of employment

Envelope 5 (Embassy proof  of on-going relationship?maybe we will bring one copy to the CFO!)

Collage of photos my last trip to the Philippines (photos from my first two trips and our engagement are in the I-129F envelope)

Xoom money transfer receipts

Evidence of over 15,000 emails

Letter to a Congressman from a different state

Letter from that Congressman to USCIS (never sent because the NOA2 came first)

Letter to my Hawaii Congresswoman asking for an inquiry (just as the NOA2 came)

New Fiancé Letter of Intent

New Fiancée Letter of Intent

Letter from our Hawaii State Senator to USCIS

Sample emails spanning from NOA1 to now

I think we are READY!!!!!!!!

PhilippinesLegal capacity for K-1 US

CFO looks for either a divorce decree/death certificate or a copy of your tax return (black SSN and such) showing you file single.

We had my tax return (filed as single) with my SSN blacked out (CFO does NOT need to know that information). I don't think they asked Joan for it but it depends on who you get. Anyway the tax return "should" work. Good luck.

PhilippinesIn love with a girl in the Philippines.

Ahem...New Yorker here getting his feelings hurt!! New York is AWESOME!!! In all seriousness the comments above are accurate: every city has inherent dangers, but most of them are way over-exaggerated. I have cerebral palsy and walk with two canes (read: "easy mark"). I've been through Manhattan alone hundreds of times and spent close to two months in the Philippines over 4 trips. Never had a problem...just be alert and aware of your surroundings.

Go and see your girl.

Philippinesrestaurants near St Luke's Extension Clinic

I plan to go to the clinic as early as 4 o'clock in the morning, and I dont know where to go which is safe and clean area.

Don't worry too much...you won't be alone!!! Joan was there at 3:30 and it was already crowded. Joan just said that there were places open to buy food when she was there--maybe Jollibee or 7-11.  You could pack a small snack bag that you can throw away before entering SLEC just to be sure. Oh..bring a heavy shirt or a jacket...it is cold inside! Good luck!

PhilippinesNOA2 approved - passport and vaccine questions

Welcome to the group and congratulations on the getting past the first step! There are a lot of great resources here---you have already met one of if not the best resource for Manila-based K-1 processing. Hank is an incredible support to all of us at each step in the process and his guide is complete. Now, be prepared for what could be a long and frustrating journey. Let the process happen and don't worry if it seems to be taking a long time. Joan and I started the process with nothing...she had plenty of time to get her passport, birth certificate and copies, new NBI clearance, and cenomar before the interview--and we had some issues with typos on some of the documents. Start now and you should have everything in plenty of time for the interview. Good luck!!!

StevephotoMalePhilippines2014-10-07 14:07:00
Philippinespls take no offense

We are 29 years apart (I am 53--on Sunday) and Joan is 24. We met on Facebook.  No problem at all with the K-1 or the AOS. The others have said it best...just show the the relationship is real and you will be fine. Good luck!

This was terrific...salamat for the information...I have one question that I could not find the answer for: you said that St. Luke's keeps the passport? I assume that it goes to the embassy with the medical results? How or when does Joan get it back? Sorry, this may be a naive question, but this is all new to me!

PhilippinesWhere's your hometown?
i was born in Aklan where you can find the famous Boracay Beach. But i grew up in Manila. I stayed for some months (6 months) in Magsingal,Ilocos Sur and been going back and forth to Ilocos since 2007. From then on I became close to Ilocanos and understand a bit of their dialect.

I also understand illonggo because my bro was married to a Negrense. Since then i also been going back and forth to Bacolod,Negros Occidental. I also understand some of Kinaray-A (antique's dialect cuz i have relatives over there) and of course Aklan's dialect.

My fiance was born in San Jose,California where he spent his 23 yrs and move to Honolulu,Hawaii last October 2007.
