K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAffidavits from friends?

They are not required. It is up to you if you want to use them in addition to other proofs of your relationship smile.png

The I-134 or Affidavit of support or a co-sponsor however is required.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHelp with G-325a question

As the alien fiancee, you don't need to worry about that. On the form DS230, which you will receive  from the Embassy after you get your NOA2, is a question where you have to list all your educational institutions attended. So, don't worry about it! good.gif

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresBlue or Black Ink??

We used blue ink and we had no problems. I don't think it really matters, but if you don't want to risk anything, then use black ink.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWrong Affidavit of Support

I have done pretty much all the paperwork for this visa, I've done all the research etc. I ask him to do 1 thing and he does it wrong- but its MY fault that he made the mistake for not keeping an eye on him enough! (Baring in mind I spent months and months reminding him of what he needed to do) He's definitely getting told off when I come home. ranting33va.gif

Same situation here, but I double checked everything with him before he sent the affidavid of support package to me, just to make sure there won't be any problems. tbh, his mom, who is the cosponsor, was far more involved than he was. He did warned me before, that he was terrible at homework in school when he was young. That was my first clue :P

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresEvidence

I'd say include evidence that you 2 met in the last 2 years, and on Q18 on I-129f, write exactly when and where you first met (2007) to the present day, like a very short story. The rest of the evidence, from 2007 to the present, you can take it to the interview.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAbout ready to send the I-129F off (need suggestions/input!!)

At the USCIS stage, they want to see that you two met in the last 2 years. It's up to you if you want to include proof of a real relationship.

When we sent the file to Lewisville, we only included 6 photos, copies after the boarding passes and copy after petitioner's passport with the stamps. We got our NOA2 without a RFE. But, for the interview, I am taking a lot of evidence to the embassy, such as Skype and Facebook conversation, an entire photo album, the original boarding passes, email confirmations, the envelopes with the postal stamps from the cards i've sent him and printscreens from Skype videocalls. At the embassy interview, you have to prove a real and genuine relationship.

As nannala said, include a cover letter and the G-1145 is optional (only if you want to be notified on phone/email when you get NOA1). Petitioners BC is only needed if you don't have copies after all pages of your passport (they are both used to prove your US citizenship, don't need to send them both). Do make at least a copy of the entire file.

Make sure every form is signed.

my case on ceac.state.gov showed the same, when i got home that day, but the next day it was showing Issued! I think this is the message it shows to those who are approved until the visa is issued! nothing to worry about now, start worrying if you don't have the visa in the next 9 days :P

took us 9 months from the moment we filed the petition, til the moment I have the visa in my passport.

Yes, 9-10 months seems standard right now.  You may get lucky and it'll be less for you, but it could also but a year... so do not plan a big wedding until the visa is in hand!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFiling I-129F while living abroad

If you use money order, the same rules...to U.S. Department of Homeland Security. Don't really know how you can get a money order from abroad, but try asking at the national banks over there.

In the instructions it says: "money order must be drawn on a bank or other financial institution located in the Unites States and must be payable in U.S. currency"

Are you using a check or money order?

We filled from abroad, my fiance's mom sent us a check payable to U.S. Department of Homeland Security and with the amount of 340$ and we had no problems with the fee.

You need to read the I-129f instructions: http://www.uscis.gov...i-129finstr.pdf

it says there on page 4:

"Make the check or money order payable to U.S. Department of Homeland Security"

Do not write "USDHS" or "DHS" !!!!

Thanks for your reply! Yes, our situation is very similar to yours.

I'm guessing your fiance also wrote that his current address was the U.S. address on the G-235A, as well?

On the G-325A, he wrote his current address from Europe, cause he was living there at the time of filling. What i am going to do is, at the time of the interview i am going to take an updated G-325A, with his US address this time. i will have his boarding passes as well, so that it won't be any problem :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFiling I-129F while living abroad
I'm gonna tell you what we did.. my fiance has dual citizenship, american and irish. For the last 11 years he has been living in Europe. When we filled our I-129f he was still in Europe, but he returned to the US a month after we filled our petition. On the i-129f form, part A he wrote the address where he will be living in the US at his moms address, he didnt write the foreign address. it worked perfectly, cause we got the NOA1 hardcopy at the US address. He also explained on a different sheet (on the same sheet that he explained how we met)that he has been living abroad and he'll be returning in the States shortly after we filled.
There is a big possibility that you wont get the hardcopy abroad if you write that address.
Maybe other people more experienced can help you, i just wanted to share our story since it's so similar.

For Skype I used SkypeLogView to print out the lenght of the conversations and for Facebook, I downloaded a copy of all the Facebook data and then copy-pasted the conv. with my fiance in a word document. If I wouldn't be such a maniac when it comes to organizing, I would've been done in just a few hours with everything tongue.png

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresdoes beneficiary NEED noa2 from petitionery for interview

Don't really know what to say about the noa2. my fiance sent me a copy of the noa2, but the staff at the embassy never asked for it.

As far as the employment letter, i'd say that is pretty important because it proves your current income. as far as i know(i am the foreign fiancee), W2 and 1040 prove income on last year, right? you can also send pay stubs from the last 3-4 months. I'd say it needs the original signature, I wouldn't want to risk anything.

cazzersFemaleRomania2013-07-03 06:59:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresIS TRUE THAT ON THE FIANCE APPLICATION ABOUT THE EXPIRATION DATE

NOA2 is valid for 4 months..in your case, from May until Sept 9. Meaning, your fiance needs to have the interview before NOA2 expires. Once the visa is granted, it's valid for 6 months, meaning your fiance needs to fly to US within these 6 months.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresApproved!!! But worst timing :(

The good part is that the embassy in Bucharest accepts co-sponsors. Now it will take around a month from NOA2 til your fiance in Romania receives the envelope from the embassy. If by the time of the interview you are working already, take a letter from your boss with the required info, and the rest of the documents, but I would highly recomend bringing a co-sponsor too, because you were in school in the last years and had no income. As long as you bring a cosponsor, everything will be ok.

If you need any more info about the embassy, you can send me a message smile.png

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHow to pay for I-129F while living abroad?

We filed from abroad, my US fiance has also an irish citizenship and has been living in Ireland for the last 10+ years. he asked his mom (who lives in the US) to send him a check on her name and it worked. We didnt had any problems with the check being cashed. We sent the file from Romania to Lewisville.

As far as I know, that invoice ID is only for CR1/IR1 visas. you only need the case number for k1s to check your status on the CEAC website :)

yes, noa2 is valid for 4 months. her F can file for an extension of noa2 at the embassy, but giving the fact that her F is unemployed atm, they should try and find a cosponsor (that is if the embassy allows cosponsors)

best of luck!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresK1 Visa Expiry

I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but ... I am pretty sure you need to ENTER THE USA before July 10.  Upon entering the USA, your K-1 visa is "used up" and no longer applies.  You then have 90 days to marry your fiance (starting from whichever day you enter the USA).

I am puzzled because that seems like a short validity (only 3 months?).  Usually K-1 is valid for 6 months, I thought.  Did you have your medical exam quite a long time ago?  I believe the K-1 is valid for 6 months after the medical, so that may be the reason why yours seems shorter than most?

Yes from what I understand the visa is valid for 6 months from the medical. GOOD LUCK!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresDS-156 FORM...PLEASE HELP!

I posted my question about DS-156 in a different thread, but received no answer. Maybe somebody here will be able to give me advice on this?

I filled out and printed the form DS-156 about four months ago. Now I noticed on the Embassy's instructions that it should be filled out using capital letters only. I didn't do that. Plus, after I went to the online form I noticed it's a new version and it says previous versions obsolete. What should I do? Should I fill out and print this again?

The new form does not state caps only that I can see.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresK-1 visa, to fill by ourselves or by attorney?

I paid a lawyer $200.00 to review the I-129F packet that I compiled for one hour (+). She made a few really good comments and suggestions for changes and I followed her advice. $200.00 very well spent, BUT I saved $2,000.00 by going to the post office and filing myself. Fast forward 9 months and the visa is approved and Joan is here with me now!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresDID NOT get an I-94 for K1 visa entry.....

I was just going though Honolulu Immigration today. My fiancee will come from the Philippines on Thursday. People on the plane who were immigrating were told to fill out a customs form AND I-94 form...but...I overheard some of the immigration officers saying that K-1 visa holders do not fill out an I-94 form on the plane. It is generated for you when you are processed through immigration. Just fill out the blue customs forms. I asked an officer and he confirmed that k-1 visa holders used to have to fill out the form before landing but now it is generated electronically for you.

Thank you smile.png

My fiancé already contacted his congressman and senator about 2 weeks ago, but never got a response? But we will try contacting them again, hopefully they will help! smile.png

Call and ask specifically for the aide who handles this sort of thing. You might to fill out a form giving hem permission to look into it (usually on the website). Good luck.
