IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresCo-Sponsor lives in S. Korea
My co-Sponsor (I-864) is my son who is now in the Army in S. Korea. Can he still be my Co-Sponsor?
I understand that Military Bases in foreign countries are still considered as the same as the U.S,
just as Embassies are.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresConsulate in Caifornia

I guess I'm confused by your question, your petition (according to your timeline) hasn't even reached a consulate yet, what consulate did you list on the I130?

Good luck

Thanks for your reply. I did a timeline search for all the beneficiaries from Japan, (my wife's country). I saw that our petition
had the consulate listed as Armenian. The others said Tokyo.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresConsulate in Caifornia
I noticed that in the Timelines for our petition (1R1/CR1) the Armenian Consulate is shown.
I am a US citizen and my wife is Japanese. The petition is in the California Service Center.
Can someone tell me why another country's consulate is in charge of our petition?
If I misunderstand, please explain. I don't care who processes it, just as long it is done and
is valid. Also, any guess on the time to the interview?

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresForm I-864 question
I just read that the sponsor I use must reside in the U.S.

My son is serving in S. Korea in the U.S Army. Can he still be
my sponsor?

When you called the NVC, did they have any advice on what actions you can take? I received my NOA2 the week after you and when I called the NVC, they told me they had already sent our case to Manila on March 9. Good luck - I hope it turns up soon!

Jeff

Thanks Jeff. Yes, I found out our case is already on it's way to Manila. I changed my address with USCIS in early February. The NVC letter was mailed to my previous address. I finally received it March 16 good.gif

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNovember 2008
Hello everyone,

I received my NOA2 approval on 2-20-09. The NVC still hasn't received my case yet. Is there any cause for alarm or should I just be patient and wait. Thanks wink.gif

National Visa Center (Dept of State)interview date

Hello on you time line you showed you get date in this order
03/31/2010: Case Completed per AVR
04/13/2010: Got interview date via NVC operator & Rcvd appointment letter via email
04/19/2010: Case forwarded to USEM Manila per AVR
In just 13 days , are You Citizen that why you get this date that fast ?

Hi, yes I'm a US citizen filing for my parents...my case completed before the cut off time to be scheduled for a May interview...unlike permanent residents filing petitions, US citizens do not have to wait for a visa to become available when filing for an immediate relative...after an interview is scheduled the NVC forwards the case to the embassy/consulate of the beneficiary while permanent residents need to wait until their priority date to become current in order to get a visa to be eligible for any further processing :star:

Asia: East and PacificAll Japan Filers
Hey there everyone!!
Quick question: are Japanese Police certificates for the entire country, or are they just for the local prefecture? Like, if my wife grew up in Osaka (until about age 18 (16+)), then lived in Tokyo for a while, and is now back in Osaka waiting for visa, does she just need one Police Certificate? or is she supposed to get one from Tokyo and one from Osaka?
Just wondering because of the "lived in a different part of their country of nationality for more than 6 months" part from the instructions on the site.

Also, would my wife probably be able to go down to the prefectural police station with just a copy of the NOA2 and her passport and request the Police Certificate? or does she really need to wait until the packets come from NVC?? Saw a few different stories, but was just unsure what we should do...

Asia: East and PacificAll Japan Filers
Hello all nihon filers!!
I am brand new to this site (just joined yesterday... have been reading stuff for the past 24 hours or so. hah).. anyway, just wanted to say hi to everyone. My girlfriend Tomoko and I are actually still in the pre-stages of the process: deciding which route to take...
She was here in Hawaii (flavorgreetea, what part of hawaii you from?!?) for the past 2 years on student visa and we were going out pretty much from the time she got here... then she was going to have to go back soon, but I proposed and she said yes! She is actually back in japan right now, and we are trying to decide if (1)we should do K-1 visa, (2)I should go there and get married, then come back and start K-3 visa, or (3)she should come here on tourist visa and we marry, then she go back and i start K-3 visa... I was thinking that it might be best to do K-1 visa because it looked like the waiting time would be the shortest, but i just noticed that the Japan part of the waiting time for IR-1/CR-1 is actually really short (right now it says 77days average, as opposed to 176-300 for most other countries).... anyway, still trying to figure it out... I asked on a different thread already and got some good responses/explanations, but any one have Japan-specific advice as to which one might be the best way???

Russia, Ukraine and BelarusShengen Visa
Shengen Visa requires financial data, similar to the one done for K-1 visa, and paid airfare, reserved hotels, and travel insurance. We had to flew to SF Consular office for France for appointment (from Hawaii). All documents were in order, they did the biometrics (picture, finger prints) then after interviewer told us to take a seat. They called my wife in about 30 minutes, then handed back her Visa saying congratulation! It was approved!!! and completed!

ChinaChinese Airport Screening
QUOTE (garfield529 @ Oct 13 2009, 06:26 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hello all,
I am returning to China next month and was curious if anyone has been recently and what they are doing in terms of quarantine for flu? When I was there in June they were really locking anyone down, but I have heard some stories that they are more relaxed. Any input would be appreciated. good.gif

I just returned from Beijing on 10/05/2009. Day I arrived they have extra paper the airlines handed out on the trip in, but the form at China immigration was different and the Chinese immigration officer made all of us complete different form. There are video cameras and temperature scanners at the immigration line. If you are sick, don't travel because they may detain and quarantine you if you have temperature and coughing. I am returning this month and avoiding crowds and public places in US to stay healthy. Have a safe trip.
