K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFiance Visa Fees $350 in the US Embassy Manila

you have to present the pay of $350 on the day of ur interview.
It is adviseable to pay $350 few days before your interview date.

$455 is a filling fee (I129-F) to USCIS.

how abot forhis son? under k2? is that a separate $350?

I was just wondering what's the $350 for that shows on the US Embassy Manila website? If I am not mistaken, When they file for the K1 visa, its $455. Does that mean that the $350 is a different fee they pay at the US embassy manila?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresACTIVE DUTY MILITARY to petition fiance
Hi

a friend of mine is a active duty military and wants to petition her fiance from the Philippines. Can anybody here guide me as to what are the requirements that he should get to marry a foreign national or i guess to petition her to get here? Is it the normal procedure of a K1 visa petition? How can it be quicker since he is an active duty military and how long does it usually take?

thank you.

Hi...

About AOS package...your husband should print out the document cover sheet and go ahead send AOS package to NVC.

About DS-3032...on the payment portal...is IV fee bill generated yet? if not then I think you should send e-mail of DS-3032 to NVC also...they will accept it quickly (in 3-4 business days) and they will e-mail you back.

Email DS-3032 form
http://www.visajourn...il_DS-3032_form

if IV fee bill already generated then your DS-3032 already accepted so go ahead pay IV fee bill. after few days later it will shows PAID so your husband can print the document cover sheet and go ahead sent IV package to NVC.

please read "LingChe NVC ShortCut" at least 2 or 3 times.

Middle East and North AfricaEngaged to Sudanese

I see that you are from HI - I was just going to mention that in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area there are a TON (30-40,000) of Somali refugees (roughly the same area of Africa, similar issues) and numerous agencies that might be able to help you. I will try to do a search later and see if I can find some more specifics.

My cousin's husband is from Sudan and I know he came to the US when he was younger (16 maybe?) but I think it was on an asylum visa. I'll ask her and find out.

Thanks. Any help and advice would be nice.

Middle East and North AfricaEngaged to Sudanese

I just posted in the main forum before I found this one more specific to my area of concern.

This past summer I was in Amman, Jordan to practice what Arabic I've learned here at university. There I met Margret Abyei, a gorgeous Sudanese doctor. She comes from the south originally but has lived in Khartoum for quite some years now. I myself am an American, born here in Hawaii but raised in Germany of all places. Anyway, we fell in love, very quickly. We met on the 23rd of June and she went back to Sudan on the 29th! In the meantime we agreed that we wanted to marry each other.
I immediately tried to go to Sudan to meet her family and arrange things further but the Sudanese embassy in Amman wouldn't help me much at all. They told me I would have to go to the embassy in Egypt. I went to Cairo alone (not a good idea) and not knowing anyone there. Suffice to say my first impression of the city was not ecstatic. However as days passed I found my way around and made some good friends, unfortunately none of them were in the Sudanese embassy. After a week of trying to obtain a visa it was clear to me that this was not going to work out. I had bought a ticket to Sudan with the fervent hope that I would make it and ended up losing some money on that one. My time in the Middle East was almost up and I resigned myself to the fact that we weren't going to see each other until this coming summer.
So, ever since June 29, 2006, Magi and I have been staying in contact with one another through the telephone and internet. It has not been easy or cheap, but I try to make it so that we can talk at least every other day and I send her SMS's every day.
Anyway, so the task we're facing now is applying for a fiance visa for her to get over here as soon as possible so we can get married. I would be more than willing to move there and marry her but the job prospects for someone as young as me with the UN or an NGO over there are not terrific. So we've decided that the best bet for us right now is to come to America.
As I have said, she is a doctor, currently working her internship in Khartoum. In the US she would find a residency position and get an American medical license. I want us to be able to live anywhere in the world, and apparently a US medical license is accepted pretty much anywhere. I myself am a filmmaker.
So, if any of you out there have been through a similar experience to what we're about to go through (applying for a k-1 visa) I would greatly appreciate any advice and/or assisstance you could provide to us. I am so so very excited about being married to Magi, I just don't want to have to waith for years to do it. However, we are both aware of the fact that it may well take some time.
I'm just glad that my name is Isaac and not Jacob. Isaac and Rebecca came together quite quickly, his son Jacob had to wait 14 years!

Isaac

Middle East and North AfricaCairo Spouse visa

Is there another option as far as embassies go? Cairo isn't the most efficient.

I filed the K3 in March, husband had his interview just last month, we're now awaiting Admin. processing. So it's been nearly 10 months so far since the beginning.

I don't think that I have another option. Cairo processes all Sudanese nationals. It isn't done in Khartoum.

What was the delay with you guys? Was it something on your end or was it the embassy? I would love to know what to avoid and what to do.

Middle East and North AfricaChange in plans!

Women (going through Cairo) generally get the visa within a week or so of the interview.

my friend was here in 5 months after she started her visa

I want to try to stay with her during the duration of the process. She has never lived on her own and, though she has family she could probably stay with, I would not want to leave her again after being apart for so long.
I am going to try and use that time to further practice my arabic. I just hope the process doesn't take too long. I want to get back here and start working towards our future.

Are there any factors that might influence the process to be quicker?

Middle East and North AfricaChange in plans!

1) Are you divorced? If you are you will need to get your divorce papers authenticated by the Dept. of State.
2) You both will need 4 passport sized photos.
3) When you get to Egypt you will have to have your passport stamped indicating how long you will be staying for. (this isn't something they automatically do so when I went, they didn't do it and I had to make an extra unexpected trip to get this stamped at some building which I forget the name of)
4) You will need to go to the US Embassy to get the statement saying you are free to marry. After getting this you will have to then bring it to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to have it translated. Your bride to be will have to be there with you at the Embassy to fill out her part in Arabic.
5) The witnesses (you'll need 2) will also have to have 1 passport id photo to bring with them.
5) Bring the photos, the witnesses, authenticated divorce papers (if needed), your passport, her passport, the translated statement saying you're free to marry and plenty of bribe money to the ministry of marriage and be prepared for a looooooooooooooooooooooooooooong frustrating and EXTREMELY unromantic wedding. :)

She may need something extra since she's from Sudan, but she'd have to check that out herself. I'm not sure since I married an Egyptian so he just needed his id card and that was that.

I would suggest doing this in two days. Do all the running around to the embassy and the ministry of foreign affairs on day 1 as well as the picture taking. Then on day 2 get there at the ministry of marriage when the doors open. Otherwise you will be waiting in line for a looong time and you'll be running the risk (as we found out) that they decide to close early just 'cause they can 'cause it's such a bigtime corrupt government that likes to sqeeze out any patience you may have on what should be the happiest day of your life. :innocent:

THanks for the advice. Much appreciated.
By the way, how long did it take you guys, from first application til acceptance, to get your visa?

Middle East and North AfricaChange in plans!

All Sudanese have to go through Cairo as far as I know. Our original plan was to marry in Sudan and then go to Cairo to get the visa, but her mother thought it would not be safe for us Sudan.
Isaac

Good luck with the process. I only mentioned it because Cairo is slow and deals with so many countries like Sudan, Libya etc. My best to your wife's family. These are terrible times and I hope all are safe.

Well, our original plan was to get her a K-1 and marry here in the US. Then her cousin (Who is the one who is supposed to arrange her wedding) told her that he would allow us to marry, but only in Sudan. So we scrapped those plans. Then, as I mentioned earlier, her mother (and mine too, actually) decided it would be better for us to marry in Egypt rather than in Sudan. So that's where we are at today.

Actually I think this is the best arrangement. For one, the travel costs will no longer prohibit my own family from coming. In addition it also means that we will not be footing the bill for 1000 +/- wedding guests that we would probably have to in Sudan. At most there will only be 100 now. Of that only 4 will be from my own family. :)

Well, after much discussion and disappointment (as it will delay us from seeing one another), my fiance and I have decided to push back our wedding date to january or february of '08. In addition, we decided, for security reasons, that we should change the location of our wedding from her native Sudan to Egypt (See my first topic for more info).
So anyway, I was just wondering if any of you had some helpful info for me about getting married in Egypt. I have already looked over the US Cairo embassy page about marrying in Egypt. That was very helpful as a first resource, but all info can be useful.
In addition, any tips on getting the spouse visa in Cairo would be happily received.

Isaac

Isaac- good luck with your new plans. Regarding any info about going through Cairo, i think the Vjers here going through Egypt might agree with me when I say, Does your wife as a Sudanese have any other option besides Cario that would be convient for you both? Or do all sudanese now go through Cario?

Middle East and North AfricaAnd even more changes...
Well, it looks like my fiance and I will have to make even more changes now to our wedding. Big ones. I was just reading the US embassy webpage in Cairo and saw their announcement that American citizens may no longer legally marry in Egypt. We were planning on having our wedding in March '08.

Our original plan was to marry in her native Sudan but we pushed it to Egypt due to her mother's concern over security. Now it looks like we will have to push it elsewhere. The thing is that we will need to go to Egypt anyway to get her visa to the states.

We did meet in Jordan and I have been thinking that maybe we get married there. The only problem is that I can't find any info about what it takes to marry there.

Does anyone have any advice, info, help!?

Middle East and North AfricaBrother Sister
In Hawaii basically anyone who is about twenty years older than you is automatically referred to as auntie or uncle. It's kind of nice and makes the whole place seem like a large extended family (Which it often is, actually). Also, with my brother being adopted and not looking anything like me (He's Sri Lankan by birth), we've often had difficulty getting people to believe that we really are brothers and not just close friends who call each other brother.

Middle East and North AfricaQuestions?
Thanks for you replies,

I was just throwing that one out there.

I've been given so many conflicting reports as to time frames. Right now I have in my head that getting her a spouse visa could take anywhere from 2 months to 1 year! That's a lot of time. Time that I am not willing to spend apart. She has never lived on her own and I would not be willing to leave her in Egypt or Jordan alone.

I would stay with her during the time as we wait for the visa.

Anybody know more about time frames?
isaacwarshMaleSudan2007-06-06 15:45:00
Middle East and North AfricaQuestions?
Recently one of my friends suggested a different route for us. She is from Singapore and has had lots of friends who have married someone from overseas. I told her that Magi and I were planning on marrying in Jordan and then applying for the spouse visa. She recently had a friend marry a south korean woman in Korea and it took them a year to get her visa. Magi is from sudan, if it took a year for a woman to come from korea, a place we have good relations with, how much longer from Sudan?!

Anyway, my friend suggested something else. She has seen several of her friends bring their fiances over on tourist visas, marry and then file for a change of status. Any of you know of people doing that? Would you reccommend that as an option or steer completely clear of it.

The problem with getting a fiance visa is that we were physically together for such a short time and I happened to not have a still camera with me, only a video camera, and I was always behind it. That means that we have no pictures to show as evidence of a relationship to the embassy when applying for the fiance visa.

Any advice?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPhoto Dilemma
This is my first post on this forum. This past summer I met and fell in love with my fiance while in Amman, Jordan. However, she is Sudanese. Sadly our time together was very short. In fact, I did not have a still camera with me at the time, only my video camera. The only images I have of her don't even include me since I am behind the lens. I have been reading over the K-1 requirements and it is recomended to send at least 3-4 pics, I don't even have one!!! How crucial is this requirement?
Also, what is the general time frame, from submission til approval, for the K-1, supposing that I do everything right.
I could really use some help here. The task seems a bit daunting after reading through some of these posts. Any assistance would be deeply appreciated.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNOA2 Approved NOW WHAT??????
Congratulations! I'm in the same boat. I was so despondent that everything was going to take so long I haven't really been preparing for this day! But our NOA2 arrived yesterday and I've been in a mad scramble every since! Hah!

Regarding what we should be providing now... Are you going to be sending these in?

1. Originals of documents in I129F: Does that mean my original birth certificate, etc? I included copies in the I129F and they were fine. I'm worried about sending the ONLY copy of my birth certificate via post to Tokyo. My birth certificate is VERY difficult to get replaced in the event something happens (It's a consular birth report from 1972 from the Department of State).

2. Passport Photos. I included a passport photo of me in my original I129F submission. Should I include another in the packet I send to my fiancee for her to bring with her to the interview?

Sorry for the thread hijack, but I figure we're in the same boat so could benefit from the same answers. :)

Good luck!

It overlaps. No problem, he had two jobs. They want accurate information, nothing about the job history affects the visa issuance anyway.(unless he was a drug smuggler or something) Simply list them backwards, most recent FIRST and enter the dates he began and eneded employment

example

June 2007 to Present...........ABC Corporation, Kiev, Ukraine
August 2006 to July, 2009......DCG Corporation, Kiev, Ukraine

Thanks for the information. I'm the petitioner but this is for my Fiancees G-325A. She worked a casual job in addition to her main one. Some people were saying an attached paper was needed but I see I don't. Thanks again.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresG-325A Employment Overlap
Hello, first of all I'd just like to say how great this forum has been for me. I just made an account today but have been using the information for about a month now. I'm in the process of collecting and filling out all the forms for the K-1 visa. My fiancee has worked a casual job in addition to multiple full time jobs and I was wondering how to input that on the G-325A employment section. I've seen conflicting advice and wondering if I need to put it on the form and include a supplement, or just use a supplement, or even if a supplemental paper is needed. Any help is greatly welcomed. Thank you.
