Officially one month until Javier's interview! Wahoo! I reminded him and he responded with, "Yeah in one month I'll be pooping my pants." How... nice...

Hey all, hope everyone is doing well. I have honestly been too busy to check the forum here.... I have a lot of work considering i just gave my notice and soon i will have to help my students transition from me to another teacher. Already told my students i was leaving and they all started crying (and they are in 6th grade!) so it's has been a pretty long and tiring week. Still waiting for my fiance's interview... One month from today. My mom is preparing for us to get to the US, she bought a new car and kept her old one to give to us when we arrive there. So that is nice. :) it is good to see all the news here... I'm still here reading even if i dont chime in to chat.

Kim, I'm thinking about you! Tomorrow is Thursday and that always seems to be the high day as far as K1 petition approvals go. You are in my thoughts!!

6 weeks until my fiance's interview. I spend myself thinking about a lot, especially late at night when I can't sleep. It's on my mind too much! I'm worried that I will forget a crucial piece of paper at our house! I emailed my mom our flight information and all she wrote back is "I can't wait!" I think she is a little excited. So am I! :D

Congrats!
I book mine 2 days ago... I think that it makes sense. :) we have been waiting enough so far anyway :)

Whens the wedding? :)

We are doing a courthouse 'wedding' when we arrive (I just want to sign the papers lol) and then in April is our "real wedding" with ceremony, reception and everything else. So we have to plan that!!

I know you "aren't supposed to" before the interview but I have a dress fitting appointment for my sister's wedding on Oct 20th so we are pushing on our timing haha.... I'll officially be back in the USA (this time WITH my fiance) on Oct 18th :D YAY!

I'm glad to see so much great news in this thread and that many people are moving forward with their cases! It seems like just yesterday we were all waiting for NOA2 and now the majority of us have passed that stage (Texas, you are still in my thoughts).

I hope that everyone has a great weekend! For me, I'm so happy that it's Friday. I have two more classes to teach, and then I have to work from home tomorrow (beginning of the year = LOTS of extra work). But time is passing fast for me, less than 2 months until my fiance's interview. We are counting down the days. :) Also planning my sister's bachelorette party via Skype (hahaha, really so much of my life is spent on Skype) this weekend so I'm pretty stoked about that :D

Glad to see a good week, now let's all have good weekends :)

It's likely that your petition is there, they just haven't put it into the system yet. I usually called in the afternoon even though the wait is longer. Try again later today. Thr first time I called our case number wasn't there yet and they asked for the notice date. The only reason I think they ask for that is to check if it has been too many days since the NOA2 and want you to send your info to the research team.

Mel, call NVC in about a week to see if they have your file and case number. If they don't, just keep calling until they have it. After that, they will send the file to the embassy and you will probably get a letter in the mail staring the same thing. After that, it's up the embassy how they do things so someone else from Ireland can answer that part. The next steps are fast!

Does anyone know exactly if we need to attach all of our supporting evidence (employment letters, pay stubs, tax returns etc.) to the I-134? or do we just place it in a folder for the embassy to reference it? What did you guys plan to do with it? Should it be arranged in any particular way?

I have a three-binder that we are bringing to the interview. I have it sectioned off for the various things that we need, i.e. I have one section for "Forms," another for "Copies of Forms" (I'm really paranoid about losing forms I think), "Affidavit of Support," and on and on (I think I have 7 tabs for the interview, and then another tab that contains an entire copy from cover-to-cover of our petition. Each paper has one cover sheet (two papers in a cover sheet, back to back - if you know what I mean) and I have them arranged in a organized way. I only need to put together our "evidence of relationship" (I need to get some white paper from work for this, LOL). Maybe my binder is overkill but I'm nervous about forgetting something/losing something that I have to have it all in the binder. When we get to the US, I'll get a bigger binder (this one is only 1.5'' I think) to put our petition, interview docs, then AOS, and so forth. I like having it all in one place and easily accessible.

Congrats! You'll be in the country by November 1st! In time for thanksgiving!

Yup! Plus my sister's birthday is on Halloween, then my sister (same one) is getting married on November 17, then it's Thanksgiving, then Christmas -- a lot going on around the same time. I'm so excited to be moving back to the US, and I'm double excited that I get to bring my fiance with me. I absolutely love Chicago in the fall, hope we have a mild winter though. :P

Thanks all for the congrats -- we are so excited. My fiance's parents are going into, what he calls, "emo mood" -- they dropped by our house today (we live on the other side of the city from them) just to bring donuts to my fiance, lol!

Happy Monday all! I love seeing good news on here regarding interviews and stuff. We are still waiting for ours but I'm on a "don't complain/be positive" attitude this week (except for complaining that HBO changed to HBO Latino and now I can't watch True Blood in English on Sundays -wah!) and right now I'm hoping that Ernesto only drops rain on us and nothing else. I'm super scared of storms/possible hurricanes so we will see...

It's been a good weekend (not over yet though!). Watched "Ted" (super funny), slept in this morning, then went out for lunch and went grocery shopping. Picked up some things to try new recipes this month (speaking of which, if anyone likes to cook/bake and wants to trade recipes - I'm always looking for new things for my super picky fiance). I really love cooking and I'm trying to get my fiance to eat more veggies so I bookmarked some new recipes lately. Also gonna make some Peanut Butter Bars for my co-workers this week :) Hunkering down in case Tropical Storm Ernesto hits us, which I'm hoping it will only send rain our way :/

Someone on VJ sent me a copy just so I could see it. I have not received my letter yet. But I did get the case number on the phone.
I'm trying to figure out how I can go about asking for this letter or a PDF of the letter sent to my email so I can get things moving.
When I called the NVC to inquire, they say WHAT LETTER??? Frustrating...

When did the NVC send out your papers to the embassy? We received (well, at my US address [even though I received the NOA2 at my Honduran address but ok, whatever... lol]) the NVC letter one week after they sent our documents to the embassy. It should come in the mail. When it does, scan it into your computer and just convert it into a PDF (PDF converter -- you can DL them for free).

Wow I reread my post and it was chock full of errors. Looks ugly for an English teacher! Yes, Sabi, I consider myself lucky too. I couldn't imagine it any other way though. That's why I know how tough it must be for everyone else who is separated, I cried for hours thinking about going back to the US without him in tow! (We are really too attached I think.)

Anyway I think tomorrow will be the day for y'all! Can feel it in my bones.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsJanuary I-129F filers

I absolutely understand where are you guys coming from, that's why I said "what we see, depends on where we are standing" . It's perfectly fine when people vent about their frustration and I don't think I ever commented on anything like that before but this time there were comments about how people would prefer to wait for NOA2 rather than having to wait for NVC or embassy's response...I was only making comment about that. In a quoted by you post, I was actually trying to show Beth good points of her situation, assuming that this is what we are here for, trying to make others feel better. I know that we are all selfish in a way, looking at our own issues but sometimes looking at how much worse it could be, can really make us feel better for a while at least. That's what I have been doing those past few days myself and I thought that giving that advice would help someone else to feel better too... maybe you didn't understand what I was trying to say or maybe I didn't dress it in the right words which happens to me a lot. If so, I apologies if you feel this way, that wasn't my intention...I'd rather stop posting here myself than making others feel not welcomed since I believe we are a one big family here...

Trust me, I do not want you to stop posting in here! I totally understand your position, it's just that we (both Beth and I - we live close to each other and we have basically been each other's support since before the NOA2) are in for what seems to be a long ride with getting an interview date. I know it had to suck big time to be waiting for the NOA2 still, so I totally feel for you and everyone else. I just don't people to feel that they can't share. Trust ne I think I've cried more tears AFTER the NOA2 than before, lol! This process is crazy, and makes us feel crazy weird emotions sometimes. I'm not minimizing your waiting or how painful it must be. I'm on your side, waiting for the day that I wake up to your all caps post of being approved. I only want to feel ok posting here because my family and friends only understand so mich, you know? They all think it's an easy, quick process.

PS: sorry if this has any typos... Responding on the iPhone sucks LOL
kate&javiFemaleHonduras2012-07-25 16:34:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsJanuary I-129F filers

yes indeed your situation sucks and I am truly sorry you have to wait that long but imagine now you were in the very 1st stage, still waiting for your NOA2, that would be a lot worse wouldn't it? You wouldn't know when will you be approved, not a clue about when will NVC get it and send it and then of course the long wait at the embassy stage...on top of that, the man you love would be thousands of miles away... Imagine that scenario and think about how lucky you are with what you have instead of focusing on what you could have if things were different... Of course what we see, depends on where we are standing but sometimes it just makes me feel better when I start thinking how much worse it could all be rather than how much better :)

Speedy response from your embassy! :)

I really hope that you do not take what I'm about to say the wrong way.

Your response to Beth's frustration is exactly why I have pretty much stopped posting in the January filers thread. I find myself reading this every day really hoping and praying that you and the others that are still waiting receive their NOA2s at lightning speed. I thought that this thread would be a place for everyone - even those who HAVE received their NOA2 and are waiting for their interview date - or even those who HAVE received their interview date - to talk and discuss any and all frustrations they might be feeling, as well as successes that they have in their lives. But it doesn't really seem to be that way, which is kind of hard because you know as well as anyone else that no one else truly understands how hard this process is unless they, too, are going through it. I do not post how frustrated I am with our embassy, how they DO take months to schedule an interview and how seemingly heartbreaking it is, because I don't want someone to chastise me for feeling those feelings. YES, it is wonderful to know that the first stage is behind us and YES, I hope that every single person in this thread gets their NOA2 really soon and can move to the next stage, but it's really hard to find some encouragement in a place where some people seem to put you down because their situation is not 'as bad' as someone else's.

To be honest, yes, both Beth and I are very fortunate to be able to live in the same country as our fiances. But our lives are also on hold waiting for the visa because we are overseas, which I do not ever complain about because it was the path that I chose willingly (and we live in a very dangerous country - which I never complain about on here because again, it was MY choice to live here). Try to remember that everyone's situation is different and we all have our own frustrations - just because we voice them doesn't mean that we are minimizing yours or anyone else's situation. I truly hope that your NOA2 comes soon.

I really hope that this thread can be a little bit more welcoming to other frustrations that are not related to the NOA2, so people can feel it's ok to post where they are in their process and feel ok to vent about something that is bothering them.

I hope I did not offend you in any way, that's only the way I've been feeling lately.

Hey guys, got my interview assigned for July 30th at the London Embassy.. I'm getting nervous!
Can't believe all these RFE's but at least the approvals are trickling through also. Good luck everyone, whatever stage you're at.
Also, i love all the wedding dress chat - any of you ladies on pinterest?

K

I'm on pinterest but I hardly ever pin anymore! I was obsessed a few months back. I go on there from time to time to look at wedding ideas (I DO have a wedding board but hardly use it haha), although the majority of my pins are food and crafts. I need to get back on there!

A good idea might be to try some on in the store and then order one online :) Wedding dress sizing is way off from normal sizing- my wedding dress size was 4x bigger than my street size. My wedding is going to be pretty small (30-50 people) so not too stressful, though changing the date was stressful!

Congrats to LA&JK!

Yeah... the wedding dress industry can make you feel bad about your size if a girl is self-conscious lol. I don't think Beth should have too much of a problem though, she is super duper skinny :P

Congrats LA&JK --- GREAT NEWS!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsJanuary I-129F filers

OH wow. That is terrible. All this time...well, someone touched your file and it isn't lost.....but that is a major bummer. Hope it's something simple! And, it's not a denial ;) I know it doesn't help much to hear it, but at least you should be able to take care of it soon and get back in the line.

Let us know what it's for when you get the letter!

I keep thinking about meeting all of you and how for it to actually happen, we might have to wait like a year with the way things are going!!! Otherwise there will still be folks stuck in other countries....crazy. So many of you out there with no NOA2s yet... I will be starting a series of attempts to contact the embassy here in Honduras tomorrow. They said to give them 5 to 7 days to respond to emails--I sent one with the request for the interview after sending one with several questions about what to do next since it is not outlined anywhere. That was last week. STill nothing. So since they only receive calls on Mondays and Wednesdays for an hour and a half, tomorrow will be the start.....from all the info I can gather, if you don't call them incessantly, you wait at least 2 to 3 months just for a date that is then another month or two later. So I am going into attack mode here! If that doesn't work, I will take the bus 5 hours down there with some homemade cookies or pie or something and show up at their 10 am receiving hour! LOL

Phone is always busy :/ tried calling 3 days (2x last week and this Monday) and no one ever answers. If you wait for the operator, she just transfers to the number that is always busy. A complete idiotic move. I sent them 2 emails. Just gonna bombard them with emails!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsJanuary I-129F filers

Wow.. today I recieved a letter saying that

"The State Department's National Visa Center recieved an approved I-129F petition on behave of your fiancee. This letter is to let you know that within a week the petition will be forwarded to the appropriate visa-issuing post where your visa interview will take place. The U.S. Embassy/Consulate General will contact your fiance when ready to begin processing his/her applications. etc.

I never even recieved a NOA2 Letter during the past 6 months since my NOA1 and the USCIS website still says my case is at "Initial Review".

I am happy, but a little worried that I never got confirmation on the NOA2. Is this common?

If I were you, I'd give a call to USCIS tomorrow morning to see if it's true. Their system should surely show if your petition was approved, even if it doesn't show it on your side. Sometimes the website isn't 100% reliable. I don't think it's common to not have received a NOA2 letter (considering you need it for the AOS), but I never received the NOA1 hard copy so I guess it's possible. Strange.
