I just read something about filing for naturalization that might possibly make it a little more bearable. Well, maybe it will at least make it a little less annoying that you paid for I-751 when you can apply for citizenship soon (it DOES kind of seem like a waste of money) and have yet to be approved. It states in the Guides that "the I-751 must be approved in order for you to apply for Naturalization 3 years after AOS based on marriage to a US Citizen". I imagine that in some cases, the I-751 is NOT approved, which means that person would not be allowed to get citizenship. Maybe if you think of it as step three (step 1 being the visa, step 2 is the 'green card') of the N-400 instead of a separate, unnecessary step, it would be a little easier to deal with? Also, some people have to wait until they've had LPR for five years for citizenship, so they 'use' their ten year card longer. Some decide to wait for N-400 for whatever reason, and some decide not to apply for it at all. So for them, the I-751 isn't such a 'waste'. I can see your point, though - why can't they just make the first card a three year card, or allow for a less expensive option to bridge between the 2 year card and citizenship? I guess it would be impractical, and they want to make sure that the conditions are met before approving citizenship. Either way, I hope this makes it a little more bearable for you. Yes, I am certainly thankful that I can apply for citizenship in December whether or not I ever get a decision on my application for removal of conditions. But what really irritates me is the amount of time and money I have effectively wasted on the removal of conditions process. And in three months I'll have to shell out yet MORE money for a citizenship application – having received absolutely NOTHING for the last money sent to the USCIS! Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussion	My ROC Nightmare	I just called the customer "service" line. I spoke with an IO and then her supervisor, who told me that regardless of what it says on the website, these cases take at least a year to be adjudicated. He said that my case in in California (not Nebraska) and that they have no other information available. His advise was to sit and wait. Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussion	My ROC Nightmare	Just got back from the USCIS office. The IO told me that my case has been in Nebraska (!) since early November and that it is still being processed. She said once they've finished processing it the file will be returned to Miami so that an interview can be scheduled. She claimed that EVERYONE who applies to remove conditions is interviewed (which I know is rubbish, but whatever). She then cancelled my current I-551 stamp (valid till Feb 2010) and gave me another one, valid til December 2010. When I asked when I could expect to hear something, she said sometime around March 2010!! I don't even have words to express my anger and frustration at this point. I plan to apply for my citizenship next week and hope that this whole thing will take care of itself. Believe me, I cannot wait to be finished with the USCIS. On November 29 I called customer service to find out the status of my case, which has been pending since December 2008. I was transferred to an IO, who looked up my case, said she couldn't see what the hold up was, and that I would hear something back within 30 days. Today I received a letter telling me to make an appointment at my field office to find out the status of my case. What on earth??????? Why couldn't they just tell me the status in the letter???? So I called the customer service line, spoke again to an IO, who looked up my case and said that as far as he could see, it looks as if I'm going to be called for an interview!! WHAAAAATT?? After almost a year, during which the USCIS has apparently done NOTHING on my case, and just as I'm about to apply for citizenship (next week), they want to call me for an interview??!!! I cannot begin to tell you how frustrated and angry this makes me. I see people on this forum being approved left right and center after just a few months, and this entire process has been a nightmare for me. I have made an Infopass appointment for tomorrow morning, but I swear, regardless of waht they tell me I'm going to submit my application for citizenship next week. I'm not going to jump through hoops for the I-751 at this late stage only to have to do it all over again in a few weeks (hopefully) for the N400. Count yourself lucky if you case is approved in a timely fashion and without incident. That has certainly not been my experience and it makes my blood boil. Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussion	filed I-751 in October 2008, still waiting	mainyasha, thank you, it is reassuring (but also unfortunate) to know that there are others in my shoes. i wonder if there are people who have waited over a year to have their ROC approved that might be able to shed some light on why it took so long for them. i just don't get it! rnqueen, as i said previously in this thread, i am not interested in becoming a citizen of the US, so that is not an option for me. bradcanuck, glad to hear they helped you! i think i might call my congresswoman tomorrow. what did they do for you, would you mind explaining? i am not sure what to expect when talking to them, and what kind of timeline i would be looking at to see anything happen with my case, etc. I feel your pain! I filed my I-751 in December 2008 and, like you, have been getting the runaround ever since, even though my case is very straightforward. I'm now on my second I-551 stamp! In the end, I just filed for citizenship when I became eligible in December 2009 and now have an interview scheduled for April. No longer having to be at the mercy of the USCIS was one of the main reasons I decided to file for citizenship. Perhaps you should think about that before you completely dismiss becoming a US citizen. As a permanent resident you will never enjoy the full rights afforded to citizens, and if you intend to live in the US permanently, wouldn't you want to have them? I've lived here and paid taxes for seven years now, so I strongly feel that I should. (And luckily for me, I don't have to relinquish my UK citizenship.) Anyway, good luck. Nun hab ich eine Sorge weniger. Jetzt streikt aber mein Drucker aus irgendwelchen ominösen Gründen Ich hab jetzt alle Dokumente zusammen die ich fürs Intervies benötige. Werde später noch mal zur Bücherei gehen und meine Bestätigung von Roskos&Meier, meinen Schatzi sein LES von August und die telefonrechnung von September ausdrucken. Sieht ganz so aus als Neige sich der ganze Stress der letzten 3 Monate langsam dem Ende zu Jetzt kann ich nur noch warten bis auf Dienstag und hoffen das alles beim Interview gut geht. Ist eigentlich schon mal jemand in Frankfurt denied worden? Viel glück an JaNa27 und tachy. Ich werd spätestens am Dienstag Abend meine Erfahrungen am Frankfurter Konsulat hier posten damit ihr beide auf den neusten Stand der Dinge seid Nochmals vielen Dank @ alle hier die mir hier in der letzten Zeit sämtliche Fragen (und ich hatte viele ) beantwortet haben und mir immer wieder meine Ängste und Sorgen genommen haben. Europe & Eurasia (except the UK and Russia)	German people...rührt euch!!	bei mir war es ganz komisch. ich hab im april ein ticket gekauft um am 30. april in die staaten zu fliegen. war damals ein angebot von einem reisebüro in schweinfurt (200€). aber ich hab auch noch nen rückflug gebraucht.. also hat mir mein fiance ein roundtrip ticket gekauft newark- frankfurt am 28. july, frankfurt- newark am 10. august. als ich dann am 28. july wieder in deutschland war, hab ich am flughafen gesagt, dass ich meinen flug frankfurt- newark verschieben möchte, hab aber gleich dazu gesagt das ich das genaue datum noch nicht weiss. am schalter haben die dann zu mir gesagt, dass sie mich im moment für einen flug ende december gebucht haben, ich aer jederzeit bei ihnen anrufen kann und meinen flug verschieben kann sobald ich ein genaues datum weiss. über amsterdam flieg ich nie wieder. mein verlobter und ich sind im dec. über amsterdam nach newark und über amsterdam wieder zurück nach frankfurt geflogen. wir hatten nur jemals 30 minuten zeit um in amsterdam umzusteigen. demzufolge hatten wir jedesmal probleme in amsterdam. beide male haben wir unsere anschlussflüge verpasst und mussten 5 stunden in amsterdam warten. ausserdem war das personal in amsterdam sehr sehr unfreundlich	The Molinas	Female	Germany	2006-09-17 06:27:00

Ich bin auch deswegen extra am Dienstag mit'm Zug (hat ganze 60 € gekostet ) nach Frankfurt gefahren. Wenn ich des gewusst hätte, hät ich mein medical auch am Tag meines Interviews gemacht. Naja, jetzt hab ichs hinter mir. @ JaNa27 Vielleicht haben die im Konsulat grad voll viele "petitions" für Nachnamen mit E und bekommen deshalb so viele Anrufe, das es denn ganzen Tag besetzt ist. Sehr merwürdig... Ich würd es morgen noch ma probieren anzurufen. Ansonsten warte einfach auf's Packet 4 (Leichter gesagt als getan... ) so arg lang kanns ja jetzt eigentlich gar nimmer dauern. Europe & Eurasia (except the UK and Russia)	German people...rührt euch!!	ne die gebühr hab ich net bezahlt. du redest von den 80 € oder? ich wart auf mein packet 4. hab am donnerstag angerufen und meinen interviewtermin erfahren und die frau am telefon hat gemeint sie schickt das packet gleich weg hat es aber bis gestern gewartet um es loszuschickn ich hab gedacht das ich warten muss bis ich packet 4 erhalten hab und dann wollt ich die 80 € bezahlen... ne ich hab die gleiche Nummer wie du. 069 7535 8200. Für Nachnamen die mit k-m haben sie heute von 12- 2 Uhr "sprechstunde". Für Nachnamen die mit anderen Buchstaben beginnen von 2-4 Uhr Bleib einfach am Telefon und ruf solange an bis jemand abhebt. Das erste Mal hab ich auch eine ganze Stunde lang, im 2-Minuten Takt angerufen, bis endlich sich mal jemand erbarmt hat und abgehoben hat. Entweder war es besetzt (this line is busy.try again later. goodbye) oder es hat geklingelt und geklingelt und geklingelt. Ich hab dann den Lautsprecher angeschalten und es 5 Minuten klingel lassen und dann ging jemand hin. Europe & Eurasia (except the UK and Russia)	German people...rührt euch!!	@ tachy ich hab die auch als kind bekommen. 2 mal sogar! am 2.5.86 & am 10.11.94. und dann heut nochma (masern, mumps, röteln). zu mir hat der arzt in frankfurt gemeint, das meine letzte masern, mumps röteln impfung länger als 10 jahre her ist und die in amerika nehmen des gnz ernst das man spätestens nach 10 jahren ne aufrischimpfung macht. naja, hab jetzt nochma 45€ für die impfung beim hausarzt hinblättern müssen Edited by Sabrina&Joshua, 12 September 2006 - 10:01 AM. Europe & Eurasia (except the UK and Russia)	German people...rührt euch!!	war heut in frankfurt beim medical. war gar net schlimm mir fehlt bloß eine impfung (masern ). bin grad zum hausarzt gegangen und die ham natürlich grad den masernimpfstoff net da.... und die ganzen dokumente von meinen fiance sind heut auch angekommen. hab jetzt fast alles was ich fürs interview brauch zusammen. muss nur noch am freitag meine bilder abholen von mir und meinen fiance . ich hoff dann ma dass mein proof of ongoing relationship genug ist. hab ungefähr 50 bilder von mir und ihm, 50 seiten email conversation, 3 emails von mir und seiner mum, phone bills & boarding passes. müsst reichen oder? ausserdem schaut mein schatzi grad ob er noch den receipt für meinen engagement ring hat. *räusper* ich bin jetzt'n SENIOR MEMBER	The Molinas	Female	Germany	2006-09-12 08:33:00
