IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNVC Filers - March 2014

Today is 17 business days since I sent the IV and IV documents. Should get a response by friday... hoping no checklist this time. ( I kinda knew I would get one for AOS, I was so confused on it).

Does anyone have experience with how long it takes for them to look at a checklist? I -know- thing are going much slower now due to backlog, but I would hope checklists would be easier for them to look at.

Thanks Saylin, that makes me feel better. I couldn't for the life of me think what generated the checklist, but that makes sense :). I am hoping that my IV stuff goes through smoothly and that there are no further checklists!

Hey Saylin or anyone:

I just got a checklist for my entire IV packet, which I just got an e-mail that they finally opened it on friday. Called the operator, they said it wasn't anything and that they hadn't reviewed the packet I sent on 2/14 yet. They also said they're waiting for my checklist response for the AOS, but I sent that out on the 5th

So it was basically an entirely fake checklist. I'm just not sure what generated it :|.

I emailed all my files as 1, as I didn't know there were new rules. And I also labeled my files with my case number so AOS MTL XXXXXX.

This seems to have been fine, as I got a cheklist for a paystub and not how I sent it to them, in case people are panicking if they already sent their stuff in.

I am hoping for a may interview as well -

our consulate is canada and they seem to book interviews 4-6 weeks after case complete.  Then its time for my canadian to put in notice at work (after visa in hand, of course!) and roadtripping across the US. Which is gonna be really fun.  Gonna visit friends all across the states - most of them have not met my husband, so it will be fun for them to meet smile.png

Not to put a damper on your spirits, but I'm a Canada filer as well, and it's taking them almost the full 20 business days to review AOS & IV. (You can check my sig for info) I'm hoping for a May interview too.

How long has everyone else been waiting for them to receive documents via EP? It took them 13 business days to get my AOS, and I am business day 14 of my IV packet and they still don't have it. Operator said to resend, and that they should have it by next week...just wondering if anyone else has been waiting a long time.

Added! Please update your timeline...

And read posts 1 and 2, and especially my wiki since you're going through Canada. Make sure to read everything at least twice before asking questions as I'm betting most, if not all, questions can be answered by simply READING!

Petitioner's stuff isn't needed in the IV package. It can be brought to the interview just in case though.

Added!

Added!

Remember, the AOS fee is part of the AOS track and the DS-261 is part of the IV track. The AOS and IV tracks have nothing to do with one another and run independently of each other.

Added.

If they have a YTD (year-to-date) column, then technically you only need one. But, since they're optional, how much you send is up to you. But, as another member replied, since pay stubs are to show current income and there's only been 2 months so far in 2014, you won't be sending much as it is.

DO NOT LEAVE ANYTHING BLANK. Fill in the other years and write $0.00 for the income amounts. You'll have to attach an explanation as to why you didn't file in 2012 and 2011. If you don't, you'll get a checklist.

Actually I didn't work in 2010 (student), so I had a no file then (but I worked in 2011, 2012) and I didn't get a checklist response on that. I only got a checklist for a current paystub (which I thought was odd bc I don't make enough, so I have a joint sponsor)

Also I sent my IV support documents on the 14th and they haven;t been logged yet: when I called to inquire about the checklist, the operator told me I could resend just in case.

@Saylin or anyone

When I started my part time job I was single, but I've since married and for 2014 I filled as married. However I just noticed that on my paystub that it says single. Is this gonan be a problem?

Bump so my post doesn't get lost. Really confused but I think the e-mail is telling me I need to submit an I-864A for her too, because her and my dad's income is joint... even though he makes enough on his own to sponsor my husband. "Also: my father is my joint sponsor, but he files as married (together) with my mother. One of my check list items was for I-864A for my mother... all it says is for form I-864a [x] this form must be typed or written in blue/black ink. Does this mean I need to submit an I-864 for her as well"

*EDIT: Thus I had to list her and her income in one of the subsets of the AOS. He makes more than enough for poverty line on his own though.

I got a checklist for the AOS, but I kind of knew I would. When responding for the checklist do I resubmit the whole document or just the modifications they need?

Hi everyone, I read all the posts here( all 354 pages) :P .  I learned a lot from all of you, laughed at the great jokes and keep quiet for now.  I have a question for people going to the interview in Montreal.  How long it takes to receive the Visa after interview, does the Consulate  sends the documents or can we go to the consulate to pick it up?  Thanks everyone and congrats to all who got their CASE COMPLETE!   :energy:

About a week I hear and its generally courier via LOOMIS.

I'm with you etrangais. This EP I'm dealing with is sooooooo slow, I'm hoping for June interview too, but I'm beginning to think that won't happen. It will be 4 weeks tomorrow since I filled out DS-260 and emailed my IV documents and still nothing. Waiting not so patiently. I've decided I'm not even going to call them anymore, I'm just going to wait for the CC email.

When I did EP they usually acknowledged my files barely within the 20 business day time frame, but once they acknowledged it they adjudicated it right away. So as soon as you receive the email about your IV being in the system I would call the next day.

Canada is still schedueling for June as far as I know, so maybe youll get lucky!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsAP for police certificate?
Had our interview today and we were put in AP because of our police certificate. When we went to to the Halifax Regional Police station they told us that that they dont do police certificates in person anymore , and to request one online. We did that and on the paper it shows that they ran it through the local and national Canadian database. On the paper it says "This check was conducted by the Halifax Regional Police". The consulate officer never one like this frm HFX but she did say that shes seen online ones from other provinces.

She said she would call the consulate in Halifax to verify, but until then we'll be in AP. She said we should hear back within a week and barring that everythng else should be perfectly fine. I'm pretty upset =/.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsUpdates to AP?

Hey all! We got AP for a police certificate-- this was delivered to the consulate last Tuesday. The officer said to mail both my husbands passport + the police check, as it was the only thing holding back our approval.

Today I checked on the visa website and it said our case has been touched (today)! Does anyone know if it will switch to AP==approved--> issued?

Or whether it will only change to issued from AP.

Ugh, the numbers for Nebraska are just pathetic. Texas is also sad.  Working diligently my butt. These numbers prove that their statements in their letter to the stakeholders was a load of bull.

It really makes me wonder why CSC has been so fast? Is Texas + Nebraska working on something else?

I really hope you all get your approvals soon, it really does make no sense to me how they are seemingly going out of order =/. Also makes me wonder if USCIS doesn't notice that NSC and TSC are barely making headway.

Husband had his interview today. We got placed in AP/Hold because they didn't like the police records check Halifax gave us (an online one). Officer said everything else was good to go and that he wouldn't have to return to Montreal, and to courier the police records to Montreal via Loomis.

=/.

If it was a problem I wish NVC would have checklisted it...

I still don't understand why the panic. You said in the review they gave to the consulate. No where do I read it was required. people give the Co's all kinds of stuff. Tax transcripts are always preferred because it shows proof you filed. Long as you have one or the other you are fine.

You need to calm down or unessary mistakes will happen. Just check and recheck all you need to take to consulate and BREATHE! It is well.

I am reference http://www.visajourn...php?entry=14546 this review. I don't see anywhere that its required either, but since i filed my AoS before the 2013 year was due I knew I needed to bring my updated tax info. Like I said I have the transcripts, just not the return. And its only for my sponsor, I have both for mine.

SashyFemaleCanada2014-06-01 23:40:00

Why do you have to bring return and transcript? Its suppose to be one or the other. You have the transcript that will suffice. And its the best proof because it proves you filed taxes.

Because in the most recent review for Montreal the person said they gave the consulate both. And I am panicking because I want to make sure everything goes perfectly /o\.

Hey can anyone answer this question: for my interview do I need to bring both my 2013 transcript + return? I have the 2013 transcript for both myself and my sponsor, but I dont have the 2013 return for my sponsor. I just tried to get it online and I answered a question wrong, so I am locked out for 24 hours. I am going to print it tomorrow night anyway, but I am panicking here.

I'll be in Costa Rica next Saturday for a week. Staying in Escazu the last night to be close to the airport.

Thanks for checking on me...   I think the approval would have come through already if it were coming today .    or do they send approvals all day long?  I have no clue.

I got my approval at about 9pm eastern , so I assume all day long.

If it makes you feel any better it appears the part of NVC that processes the actual forms has picked up speed again, though there still seems to be a backlog in case number assignment.

It would be great to get an approval today... But we all know how this works...... Hurry up and pay your fee so you can wait a ridiculous amount of time.

NVC isn't slow like USCIS.

The only thing they're slow in is giving you your number. After that its fast.
