Hoping mine doesn't get transferred TBH...the Newark office is a hellhole. On the other hand if it does, my family knows some NJ politicians so maybe I could get mine pushed...

Honestly I just want this part of the process over with either way.

Also I talked to a US customs officer when I came back to the US a few days ago--he told me my husband could visit me while the I-130 was still pending, no problem. Though he did specifically say only if he is a Canadian citizen.

Chill, they were just asking a question! The last couple pages had people talking about their NVC updates and not one word was said until I helped someone.

Realized I forgot to say thank you, so thanks a bunch :).

Happy Thanksgiving to you!

And I feel the Canadian love even on here, heh :)

Isn't there an Oct NVC thread where all the NVC stuff can be posted?.

Its great that you guys got approved but It is kind of insensitive to post NVC stuff when the rest of us are still waiting for our NOA2whistling.gif

I'm waiting just like you, I just asked where to go to see the checklist for the next step.

Yea my parents are willing to sponsor him ( I am a graduate student, I don't make enough to support me really)--but we can't really afford to have him come here and be unemployed for a long period.

How long is the adjustment of status for K-3?

Question; can our spouses work on the K3?

Because this is the problem for me: i don't make enough to support so my husband needs work asap.

Hoping we hear some news of people being approved despite the shutdown. I know they said they were operating, but it makes me nervous.

On good news, Im seeing my husband next week! ...Hope to have Noa2 soon or when im there.

I guess my airplane ticket fee is tame comparably...mine is usually 400-500 to see my husband in Nova Scotia, but because I'm a grad student and he's just a sous chef its a lot of $ for us. Luckily Im seeing him in 2 weeks!

Just checking in to say hi. Probably going to visit my husband in October....

This is really ridiculous and stupid =/. My husband basically has his career on hold (He really wants to seek better employment because he is over qualified where he works) but can't because of him leaving Canada soon (?). Not to mention he's living in a crappy place just so he can have a month-month lease.

Sigh.

Just checking in to say hi is all.

Regardless of whether things move or not, I think I am seeing my hubby in sept/early Oct. On the topic of politics...  I agree, this should be easier/not take as long.

Montreal it is!  I am in Ontario and for me it is a long drive, train or plane also to Montreal.  I live in Peterborough. (1hr+ from Toronto)   Seems odd especially since they are so over loaded and interviews take so long to get.  Toronto did interviews years ago and so did Ottawa.  Clearly Halifax would have been good for you.  Not quite sure why.  It is very difficult for people far away.  As if it is not long enough wait to get the NOA2 and thru NVC then months for an appointment in Montreal. Not right!   We happen to live in a very large country.

Thanks for the info! When the times comes I think we will go to whichever one has a shorter wait... both ottawa + montreal are a plane ride for him so it doesn't matter either way. We'll just have to make a mini-vacation of it I suppose :X.

I just find it super odd that there is no place to go in all of Atlantic Canada! I will call tomorrow to confirm this, but augh.

SashyFemaleCanada2013-07-28 17:44:00

You would think, I was shocked! I thought oh, Vancouver, this will be easy, or even Victoria! I was only given Montreal as an option, I would love to go to Ottawa as I have family there but was told I cannot. I'd rather NS or NB then Montreal, I'm not a fan of how they treat me since I can't speak French either. sad.png it is pretty though lol

lol I've only been to the airport and my husband (who is Canadian) has never been :X.

Well maybe we will be there at the same time, haha. Everytime I look into this visa thing I find more and more ridiculous things ><.

SashyFemaleCanada2013-07-28 12:12:00
IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsApril 2013 I-130 Filers

I live in BC and have to go to Montreal for my interview, unfortunately they all don't do interviews. sad.png I can't speak for NS but I'd guess it would be the same. I spoke to my immigration lawyer about this and checked online and sadly Montreal was the only option. I'm going to try and make a trip out of it so it does t seem as bad.

Jeez.

I guess if he has to go montreal I might as well join him in montreal and... well I don't know what there is to do there and I don't speak french. Blah. Maybe should just go to Ottawa instead, I mean they both require a plane.

One would think that they'd have a place closer to you in BC :|.

SashyFemaleCanada2013-07-28 11:44:00
IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsApril 2013 I-130 Filers

My guess would be that they don't do interviews in the embassy close to him...  Maybe someone who dealt with Canada will chime in and help..

I hope they do... montreal is about a 10 hour trip by car...that sounds a little ridiculous to go that far for an interview, it would be easier to do one in the US, ffs. As it is, I can't believe they would have no place that could do an interview in all of Atlantic Canada. I actually just visited the consulates website and this one in Halifax serves ALL of atlantic canada ( Newfoundland, NS, PEI).

God going to montreal would be another headache in itself ><.

If you fill in your timeline, you can follow the progress of everyone who filed around the time you did.

At the rate the files are being processed, I took Christmas right out off the table.   I would think maybe an interview...  but NVC is taking a long time too

BTW... WELCOME TO OUR THREAD !!

Thank you!

I just filled mine out but I am confused on one thing: For embassy it doesnt give me anything close to my husband at all. He lives in Halifax, Nova Scotia (there is a US consulate there), would that not be where he interviews? Theres nothing even remotely close in the list...he'd have to go montreal or something which is 2 provinces and hours over! *Next closest province would be NB. If he had to go Montreal it would basically require a plane ticket, I hope this isnt true :|.

I haven't posted here, but I am in the same boat as all of you. Filed april 15th....

I was hoping to have my husband here for christmas this year :(. I really hope it can still happen... he's living in very temp housing as well (so he can get out of a lease fast) augh. I had thought my trip to see him in June would be my last, but it looks like I'll be in Canada again in the fall :(.

Hi all, apologize if this is in the wrong section.

I'm not married yet but my fiancee and I plan to marry in January in Canada. He is looking to immigrate to the U.S. A few simple questions:

1.) Is getting married in Canada OK if the end goal is for him to live and work in the US?
2.) Where would I/we begin to file this proesss, at the US consulate in Canada or in the US once I return home? (I'll be there for a month)
3.) Anything else I should be aware of? We are getting married in Canada because he really can't afford to come here on the K-1 Visa and not work while the paperwork clears. Our current plan is to get marriedd, file, and then have him move here when he is legal to work.

Thank you!

(where can i do some more reading on this?)

Thanks for all the information!

Unfortunately I don't own a car, nor do I have life insurance yet, I'm 23. I'm slightly worried my age is going to count against me-- I haven't had a full time job yet, just a bunch of part time ones because of school.

Hi all!

I'm really excited to finally be able to qualify for a visa to apply for, for my (now) husband :) (he is a Canadian citizen, and I am a US citizen, he wants to immigrate here). I just got married the 15th, and had to come back to the states yesterday (had originally planned to stay till the 23rd but I needed to come back because of university, Im a masters student).

I read the guide about the IR-1 visa here, I was just wondering is there any other basics I should know, and how much proof should I provide of the marriage/relationship? I currently plan to submit a joint credit card, and affidavits from his family and mine, along with pictures of the ceremony. Should I include other pictures as well, and things like airplane tickets in the past? Also, is my husband not allowed to come to the US until this is all sorted?

Thanks!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresG325 A form
Hello,

I am getting all my forms in order to mail to start my CR-1 Visa application for my husband. ( I am currently waiting to be sent my official marriage license from Canada).

I have a question about the g325 A form though, I notice that it says File number # ____ ? What needs to go in this space?

Also for the box which asks:

"This form is submitted in connection with: "

what would be the proper box or fill in to provide?

Thank you!

So basically that information is outdated?

...Why don't they update their site then? And to clarify I am filing for a CR-1 Visa, but was just reading the website and it said that I COULD file for a k-3 in the meantime, while the CR-1 processes.
