K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresG325A

@jetdoc,

Nope, that was not a dumb question at all. Many similar and other questions have been asked about that place on form G-325A. Many of us--including myself--have asked such, at first seemingly trivial questions. We are still asking. And I know I myself still have a TON to yet learn!! But I figure when it comes down to doing the best one can to pursue a future together with a wonderful person and/or striving to live as good and fulfilled life as possible, then there is very little that is actually "trivial" in this pursuit. The existence of the VJ site, the many questions (and the nature thereof) posed by other VJ members, and the helpfulness of so many here, seems to indicate the existence of some core truth to this claim. Ron, may all continue to go well with you--and also your fiancee, of course--in your own pursuit(s) during your own visa journey and beyond. --RK

RK, you're a kind soul and may your Karma be bright.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresG325A

@jetdoc:

One G-325A each; that is to say, one for you and another for your fiancee. On your form, fill in your family, given and middle names and put "none" for Alien Registration Number, or as appropriate. Oh her form, under "Applicant..." your fiancee's information is also filled in accordingly. You each must sign your own form. Suggestion: each (you and your fiancee) print out at least three copies of G-325 and sign each copy. That is to say, you sign your three G-325A copies; she signs her three G-325A copies. That way you can send copy(s) with original signature to USCIS and still retain a copy with original signature for your own records in case one which is sent becomes lost. [The third copy is because it is highly recommended that petitioner send a complete duplicate of submitted I-129F packet and supporting documents to fiance(e).]

Thank you very much. I hate to sound like an idiot, but I just want to make sure these forms are filled out fully correct the first time....will do.

Ok, but in the actual name part in that box...my name, or is that n/a or doesn't not apply, also?

Yes, I filled out the line items using Adobe so it looks typed written and cleanly done. I sent it to her via email, she printed it, signed it and Fed ex'd it back to me.

That is what I am doing too

To be sure Tim, bottom of 325A page, in the highlighted boxed area, I put, 'does not apply'..?
When fiance is filling out her, (actually she is done), would she leave it blank as well?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresCorrection on forms?
Well I am not fully sure if my official divorce date is 29Aug, 2011 or 25Aug 2011...there are two different dates on the decree. Now I have not mailed in our pkg yet, but I did put down 29Aug 2011 on forms....I have the question in with someone that can prob give me the right answer, however if it is the 25th, would it be a big deal to white out the 9 and make it a 5 with a pen? If not I'd have to re do the whole form, and it will only take about 15 mins...but you know, just wondering.

Thanks in advance.

Ok, well I filled in the 'how we met' portion.

Besides proof reading my g/f papers when they get here tomorrow, and going over mine again...I am down to the passport style pic and also the other pics for proof. I have a million on my phone, a bunch on my laptop...I've not done this before, but I guess I can create an account and transfer pics from my puter to Walgreens, (or someplace like that), and pick them up later?

The address you put on the letter is irrelevant. It's considered a courtesy when you write a business style letter to include the recipients name and address in the header. It would be sufficient to just put "USCIS" or "United States Embassy/Consulate" without any street address. In fact, it wouldn't matter if you addressed the letter to Mickey Mouse on the planet Mars. The only thing that matters is the original statement of intent and the signature - this is what the I-129F instructions ask for.

Thank you Jim....

Hey guys, how much detail did you guys provide for the how you met letter? I can be very long winded. Did y'all pepper it with how much you love each other and such?

RK, at first I was like, what the heck is this G-1145....then I looked in my stack and saw I already filled it out, lol. And yes, I will let the 129F set and look at it thur or friday, or even scan and email to finance and let her look at it.....I wonder if I could have you guys check it out? Oh, but our personal info is on the forms, hmmm....well I will make sure I check and recheck, good idea.

Thanks Bigdog, trying too, it is overwhelming a bit, without you guys it would be much worse.

The Service center address for the Dallas Lock box makes sense to me for the cover letter....yes. And also for the USCIS service center address too, (Dalllas lockbox), for the fiance letter of intent, but not sure about the embassy address info in the letter of intent however.

Hey all, well fiance' sent me her docs, etc, today via FedEx, should be here on friday.

I have completed the G325A and the I-129F, still have to do the 'how we met letter', I followed the pre filled suggestion on question 18 and will use blank sheet and attach it. For fiance letter of intent to marry, the USCIS address, what to put there? The next place where it shows United States Department of State
United States Consulate, [name of country where Embassy is located]

[Embassy Address]

My fiance is Filipina and lives in Manila, So would the area in red be Philippines and the US Embassy address in Philippines? Rest I think I can figure out, lol.

And I also guess the I-129F cover letter as well? Sample letter explains it pretty well except for address of service center?

Thanks, you guys have been a vast help so far.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI-129F supplement question
Hey all, I am done with everything for the 129F..put it all together today, the pics in baggies, everything, whew. I am so glad I proof read the docs a few times, because I found errors and had to re do some docs.

Now one thing I am wondering, I decided to re do the 129F supplement, about if we have met in person or not...what do you guys think of this, and until I get feedback I will stop where I am, as this is the last thing to adjust and its really done except for this one part....

I met my fiance about 8 months after the start of the end of my marriage. Some things happened and came out to the light and basically I could not get past them...so that was around July of 09...I had started to do divorce papers and do mediation a few times, but it kept starting and stalling, (we were married 30 years, so its a lot to deal with, we married very very young, teenagers)....I met Diana, my fiance, in Feb 2010...My divorce was finalized July 25th, 2011.

I was wondering, as its not an extreme long time between starting to split up and meeting Diana, should I enclose a paragraph in the supplemental letter on this topic, giving some detail, in case they were wondering? I mean I didn't not meet Diana until well after the ending of my marriage, but I want to make sure they know this..

good idea or not?

@jetdoc/Ron--I am glad you took the time over weekend to look over everything a few times. Congratulations on getting everything together and sent off!! Definitely, a major step. Also, glad to hear your fiancee is on top of things as well. You and her, working as a team, will do wonders for the next part of your visa journey some time later: preparing for interview upon petition approval. Best wishes for a smooth and continuing journey!! --RK

Thanks guys...ugh, I've been so stretched thin lately, with moving, and finalizing some other things and with this process as well...just when I thought I was done, haha. Well was speaking with fiance' just before I was leaving house to fedex pkg.....fiance': 'hon, did you make a final copy of the complete pkg, for myself and you...?"....me: umm, well I have duplicates of everything, I am sure I have most of it...#######...no I didn't, jeez. And by copies for the pics I am supplying, I am sure you mean actual duplicates of the pics, not photocopied pics huh..? .....fiance:, 'umm, yes hon, I need an exact copy of what you're sending so I can bring to interview and to go over it all'....

Well at least she caught me before I left house...so I ordered 3 copies of the pics, and I am at work now making copies of the complete entire 3/4:" I-129F pkg, lol.

I am sending the Fedex out in just a few mins...and will multiple copies of the entire pkg...glad my fiance is smarter than me, lol.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWhat is going on at the USCIS

That is definitely a possibility as they seem to have a habit of doing that. It frustrates people working there also.

If you are going to try to track this like a Fedex package you are going to be VERY frustrated as it is not designed to work that way. My suggestion? Believe me dude, this visa stuff is the small stuff, the easy part. Do you and your fiance(e) a favor and spend your time preparing for a very major change in life that is going to happen much sooner than you imagine

Either that or wrap your head in duct tape, because if you keep this up your head is going to explode and you will want to keep the pieces.

Best reply ever, lol.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures2nd NOA, processing times..?
Well just tracked my fedex and it was delivered and signed for this morning, 9:10 a.m...who hoo...haha.

Eve/Jim, good points, and I will take up your suggestions, I like it. And thanks for your kind words.

RK/Inday, I understand that the time frame can be long or not as long, and it seems there is not rhyme or reason....so I will pray ours is the 'not as long'. Myself and my fiance' will use this time to prepare ourselves for the next step, we will be ready I think.

I do need to use this time now to realx a bit, as much as I can. These past two years have been EXTREMELY difficult, with the divorce, the QDRO divorce settlement nightmare, the mess of splitting everything , including house, moving into our new house, (fiance and I), and all the paperwork with the I-129F....some of this stuff is ongoing but most of it is on the downward slope now, except for my relationship with my fiance', lol.

Thanks for your reassurance, RK, it does feel good to be able to say USCIS has our 129F pkg now, and we will be entered into the system soon.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures2nd NOA, processing times..?
Holy smoke, I know I just filed our K1 pkg, however I was checking out the next steps in the process and the 2nd NOA, acknowledging K1 petition approved, the processing time for this step is 5 months alone? It seemed to not matter whichever service center, except Nebraska, (not sure what their times meant)...., but I've talked to people who were bringing their Filipina finace here and I know one guy said the whole process was 4 months...there were some 5 month folks...seemed 6 was sorta common..?

I mean it is what it is, but didn't think just that one step was 5 months. Too bad living near DC doesn't help or I'd just drive the 50 mins downtown and take care of it, if I could, lol.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresRFE- Can't anyone help
Yea to cover my butt I not only sent the boarding pass stubs I had, but I signed back into my account with Delta and Continental and found my flight info on both of my flights when I flew over to see my fiance and printed those up too. In addition to the passport stamps I copied both of my birth certificates, the official one and a copy I drove down and picked up in DC when I had to get my passport renewed.

I do have a question on the pics, I dated them and wrote where we were, etc and put in plastic bags, etc. But the dates I was not sure of, to the day. Obviously I knew I was in Manila from such and such a date to such and such, and also for Bangkok, but the dates for the pics, I sorta guessed. I did make duplicate copies of everything, including pics, but I didn't write down the dates I jotted on the pics...so when my fiance has her interview, she will have the exact same package I sent to USCIS, but not knowing the exact same dates on pics, will that be an issue?

Ok then thats not so bad then...thanks.

You are welcome.

No other way but do as they say.
If my calculations are right, your timing might not be as bad as u think.
Just scan that NOA2 once you get it and email it too your Fiancee ASAP; it takes around a month or less for each case to get to their Embassy of destination so you should be fine.

She worked in Egypt...she went to the Egyptian embassy in Manila and they said they can only do it with the form that comes in the NOA2...so I called the Visa people here in the States and they said they can't access papers from packages as I am requesting and to just ask the Embassy to do it without the form....so you can see where we are now, lol.

Prob nothing can be done, just trying to save time.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresQuestion on a background check
Just wondering if there is a way to maybe order a background check prior to our NOA2 coming back? My fiance' worked in a country other than her own for over 6 months last year, and it states something along the lines that, if you have spent more than 6 months out of your country in the past X years you have to get a police background check done from that country.

It supposedly takes approx 3 weeks for this background check to come back. It would be nice to be able to order the police check while we are waiting for the NOA2 and to not add an additional 3 weeks to the wait, however you have to use a form that is in the NOA2 to order this report. I've called our visa people up here in the states and they said they can't access the forms.....

Has anyone found a way around this wait, if at all possible?
