Thanks to the great information on how to track your case after it leaves the NVC, I can confirm that my case is currently "Out for delivery" in Manila as we speak.    So, that's good to go.

I sent the I-134 and accompanying info back on the 9th (aka 11 days ago), and she hasn't received it yet.  This case is kinda like the plot for the old Keanu Reeves movie Speed, where you think the villain is dead, only to have him resurface.  OVER and OVER.  So, we have today, and Monday to get it, or I'll have to scan ALL the stuff, and e-mail it to her so that she can PRINT it.  And, I assume we'll get a 221G since the I-134 won't have a "wet signature".  But it beats missing the interview because of the stuff not being there.

Fingers crossed!

I know it doesnt help but you´re like 200 steps quicker than most of us even though NVC took longer smile.png

hope everything´s there in time for your interview!!! GOOD LUCK

Thanks!  And I realize that things have been VERY fast for me.  I feel very blessed by the fact.

hey chris..it seems you´re some kind of NVC pro so I have a question for you smile.png

Is it possible to ask for the case number by email or only by calling?

you postet this emailaddress : NVCInquiry@state.gov once and I just wondered if I could send an email to them two weeks after NOA2 to ask for the case number??

we got approved on 03/13/2014 biggrin.png YAY

Congrats on the approval!  Now, as for the dreaded NVC, YES, you can e-mail them at that address.  Put your receipt number in the subject, and in the body include "The beneficiary's name and DOB" and "The petitioner's name and DOB"  (Label them as such as well), and send the e-mail.  They'll respond when they feel like it.  In my case it was a WEEK after I got the case number over the phone.  (From studying the e-mail, it appears that the NVC contracts an outside company for at least the e-mail processing.  So, that might have something to do with it).

GOT A DATE!

Embassy received my case earlier this week and per phone conversation with a rep it was "processed" yesterday. Furthermore, I was instructed to proceed the next step in scheduling an interview.

Fiancee dropped everything, printed the visa fee deposit slip and made the payment (USD 240) at a local branch. Upon receiving the receipt number we then scheduled our interview date via online!

Plenty of interview dates available in March but we set it for April so we'll have enough time to get our paperwork straight.

Cheers to my fellow January filers~dancin5hr.gif

TGIF!

CONGRATS!  Now, get those papers together!

Hi, I have two questions:

- can you call the NVC and set your own interview date for London?
- what's the CEAC?

I received my NOA2 on Tuesday. I am working in China for a few weeks, and logging on and seeing that certainly brightened up my day. A lot.

From my understanding, you book your interview with the website for the embassy that the interview is going to be held at.  The NVC has nothing to do with setting interview appointments.

The CEAC is  https://ceac.state.gov/ceac/

ChrisFurloughNot TellingPhilippines2014-03-13 12:19:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsJanuary 2014 Filers

Im only after case number or should i wait ? Is there a automated number ?

No, call and get the case number, just be careful scheduling the embassy interview too close to now.  I would get everything else done, and once my case showed "In Transit" on CEAC, I would make the embassy appointment.

ChrisFurloughNot TellingPhilippines2014-03-12 12:07:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsJanuary 2014 Filers

I plan to ring nvc for my job number so i can progress medical and interview before my petition arrives in UK

Be careful doing this.  That's what I did, and got a plum interview date, only to have the NVC decide to hold my case for "Administrative Processing" for 13+ (and counting) days.  If they don't release it within the next 9 days, I'll have to cancel this great appointment slot, and wait 90 farking days for a date.

(Yeah, I'm a little angry, but figured you'd want to know what COULD happen, and to be careful).

Guilty as charged. wink.png I'm trying to tone it down a bit 'cause, like you said, I'm driving myself nuts. tongue.png

The WORST part is when you do the math, check all the data, and your current wait for a step in the process is 300% of the average, and you're on the cusp of exceeding the MAX value in the list.

ChrisFurloughNot TellingPhilippines2014-03-12 01:00:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsJanuary 2014 Filers

Are you a data fanatic too?! I check all of the stats, trends, timelines from TSC, timelines from my country and all timelines who filed around the same time as me!!!!

I'm guilty of this!  I did a timeline query of everyone who has received NOA2 since January 1st, added all their "NVC delays" into a spreadsheet, and computed the average, (4.29 days).  Noted the high (14 days), and the low (1 day!), and use that to attempt to calm my nerves.  (Today is day 12 for us).

I feel like I might need a 12 step program if they don't release it soon.

"Hi I'm Chris, and I'm a data junkie"

Just received the below email/text.

Your Case Status: Post Decision Activity

'On March 10, 2014, we shipped this approved or re-affirmed case to the Department of State for visa processing. For more information, please contact them directly'

What would be our next step ??

Thanks

That's the infamous NOA2!  Congrats!  Now, when the service center gets around to it, they'll send your packet to the NVC, who will, when they get back from their hourly smoke break, on even numbered hours, on days that end with E, scan your case into their system, and ship it off to the embassy.  Unless they somehow deem that you need more "Administrative Processing", in which case they'll hang on to it for no particular reason, like they are mine.  :-)

CONGRATS though!  You've made it through what is normally, the longest part of the process!

It has been 8 days since I found out my case number (via telephone) but no sign of packet 3 nor any email.

Checked CEAC and its status displayed as "In Transit"...any idea on what kind of notice I'm suppose to expect?

If you registered for the e-mail notification, you'll get an e-mail telling you your case number when they get around to sending it.

In my case, I took the case number, and used it to pay the visa fee, and schedule the medical, and embassy interview in Manila.  Yours could be different, but in my case, you don't have to wait for packet 3.

Did it just randomly arrive or did you have to sign up for it somewhere?

Sent an e-mail to:  NVCInquiry@state.gov

With the receipt number in the subject, along with the beneficiary's name, and DOB, and my name and DOB in the body.

I'm sincerely hoping this is a good sign.  I got the "We've assigned you a case number" e-mail this morning from the NVC.

ChrisFurloughNot TellingPhilippines2014-03-07 12:38:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsJanuary 2014 Filers

Let me state this.  Now that the initial anger has somewhat dissipated.   It is COMPLETELY possible that what they mean is that they're behind, and they're processing it.  Which to THEM, is the normal administrative thing to do.  Thus, that makes it administrative processing.  My status at the CEAC says "at NVC".

In my case, they have to free it by the 21st for us to have any real shot of it BEING at the embassy for the interview.  I know that DHL delivery is in the order of 3-5 days.  So, if they were routing correctly, and it only took 3 days, that would give us up to the 22nd/23rd depending on what time DHL delivers there.

In short?  I hate this!

A quick note here.  I booked the embassy interview for my fiance today,  and the earliest date at that time was May 6th.  (Manila).  I logged in a little later, and it had changed to May 27th.  I didn't close the page.  I came back a little later, and clicked "Reload/Refresh", and it told me the next available appointment was MARCH 26TH.  Needless to say, I jumped on that.  Cut a full 46 days off of my wait time.

So, if you are checking for a closer interview date, leave the page open, and just refresh it every few minutes to check on it.

ChrisFurloughNot TellingPhilippines2014-03-06 01:59:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsJanuary 2014 Filers

Checked the CEAC website to find out the status has been changed to "In Transit"

Per instruction stated on NOA2 (received on 18 Feb), it said I should be expecting a notice from NVC within 30 days.

Since I obtained my case number (via telephone), the notice NVC is referring to should be arriving via email or mail?

I'll continue to check my inbox...

Via snail-mail.  There is a supposed option to send the NVC your receipt number, and pertinent info, and they will send you an e-mail when your case leaves for the embassy, but other VJ'ers have sent those e-mails, and received nothing.  I'm currently stuck in "at NVC" status, or I could give you a more definitive answer on the e-mail.  But at this point, I would assume that you WON'T get one.  Postal service only.

ChrisFurloughNot TellingPhilippines2014-03-05 15:07:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsJanuary 2014 Filers

Called NVC and got an unpleasant person. Had to get her to dig but all we got was saying that our case has arrived, but no case #. Will try calling again this week?

That has been MOST of them that I have gotten.  Obviously with us having to dial 10+ times to get through, and then having to hold for 20 minutes, their call volumes are high.  In some call centers there is pressure applied to eliminate busy signals, and to get hold times down.  If this pressure is being applied to them, it makes sense.

Once we get the case number, can we schedule our interview? What website would we use moving forward?

YES!  Yes you can.  If there are visa fees, you probably have to pay those first, and then you can schedule your interview, and get the medical if required.

Once you have a case #, you can check your status here: https://ceac.state.g...ult.aspx?App=IV

Though I have a question: It states that "your interview date was provided to you by the National Visa Center." Is this a generic message? I was under the impression the Tokyo Embassy would let me schedule an interview myself, rather than have one provided. I haven't got the required documents yet, still needing the Japanese police certificate.

I just saw a post about this the other day.  Yes, it's generic.

No, I think that only happens when you get a case number assigned.  Which hasn't happened yet.  We'll see, and of course, I'll let you know.  :-)

*rings bell*

I have a case number!

NO email has been received.  We'll see if I get one when the case LEAVES the NVC.

ProTip:  If you call the NVC, and after giving them your receipt number they ask for the beneficiaries name and DOB, you have  case number!  So, be prepared for this.

I wasn't prepared, and (Shh!  Don't tell her), I got the fiance's DOB wrong the 1st time.  Had to call back, and give them the CORRECT one, then they asked for MY info.  And then, gave me the case number.

OK, here are today's call stats:

1st call, had to redial *23* times to not get a busy signal.  On hold for 11 minutes.
2nd call, had to redial 11 times, and was on hold for 16 minutes.

* 6 redials required to get a non-busy signal.
* 15 minute wait time
* No case number yet, "It takes 30 days to enter the data into the computer"

Got my NOA2 hard copy in the mail yesterday - only took about 9~10 days for international delivery.

Now I'm wondering when It's a good time to start calling the NVC...

In THEORY, 4 days from now they should get your case.  Since they just got mine today, and I'm a 02/14 NOA2 person.

Probably came in in a big box, or some sort of packaging from California.  Then, a data entry person sits down, and keys in the receipt numbers.

Just got off the phone with the NVC.  It was an amazing call for many reasons.

* 9 minutes on hold
* Lady I got on the phone was pleasant
* NVC has RECEIVED my file.  (No case # yet, but at least they have it).  So, 13 days from CSC to NVC in New Hampshire.

Thanks for the feedback. I called NVC (603) 334-0700 and as "forewarned" by ChrisF (member above) I got a busy signal at first and was put on hold for about 20-25 minutes. However, surprisingly, the person at the other end was very nice and professional.

After about 1.5 week since NOA2 I was hoping I'd get lucky to get my case number through this call but the rep said that they just received it (today) thus I need to wait about 20-30 days. Well, at least I know they have received it and it's in process. Back to patience...

timeline.gif

I've called about 6-7 times, and I got a guy named Kevin once that was nice.  He didn't try to lecture me about waiting 8 weeks.  Everyone else has lectured me.  Glad you got a good one, AND got good news!

It will mailed to your home address. The hardcopy notification (i think i told you already?)

But if you want to get the case number easier, you can call NVC but have to wait for such a long time (around 20 min)

Sorry, I didn't understand earlier.

Yes, I'll be calling them frequently to see if they have my info.  The last I spoke with yesterday talked DOWN to me like I was an idiot, or a child.  I hope to not get her again.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsJanuary 2014 Filers

By the way, when it says follow the instructions, well... no0pb.gif It says not to call NVC for at least 30 days after NOA2 but I guess most of us can't wait that long! My advice is to call them. Worst thing that can happen is that you waste some time on hold... I called them through Skype because I was too impatient (my fiance couldn't call them until the evening for him so that's the middle of the night for me; I'm 7 hours ahead) If they don't have it yet or they haven't assigned a case number keep trying every few days... That's what I would do! smile.png

Yep!  I'm impatient as well.  I called them yesterday, they told me that they didn't have it yet, and that it would take 8 weeks.  (Stock answer).

I'll be calling them weekly to see what they have to say.

I know another situation is "Once you get your case number, you should wait 30 days before trying to schedule an interview".  uhhh.. How about NO?  Does NO work you for?  As soon as I get the MNL number, I'll be on the site trying to schedule an interview.

Thanks allende!

At USCIS, I have this status:

Post Decision Activity

On February 14, 2014, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I129F PETITION FOR FIANCE(E). Please follow any instructions on the notice. If you move before you receive the notice, call customer service at 1-800-375-5283.

Will it change to something else when the file is sent to the NVC?

ChrisFurloughNot TellingPhilippines2014-02-20 16:14:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsJanuary 2014 Filers

OK, so to be clear, the only way that I'll know that my case has been sent to the NVC is when I get a letter in the mail specifically stating that?

ChrisFurloughNot TellingPhilippines2014-02-20 15:22:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsJanuary 2014 Filers

There will be notification that they will sent to NVC but some people do call NVC to get the case number faster.my fiance called them twice in last 2 weeks and got our number yesterday. He called about 20 minutes waiting each call.good luck smile.png

OK, does that notification come through the USCIS website?  Via e-mail?  Carrier pigeon?  devil.gif

And I had my first call to the NVC today, and as you said, sat on hold for 20 minutes, for them to tell me "No, we don't have it yet.  Once you get your letter, it'll take 8 weeks".  The same thing that they tell everyone else.

EDIT:  I think I found my own answer.  I signed up on the USCIS website for notifications.  I'm assuming the "NVC sent" notification comes through that.  If that is incorrect, someone please "drop some info on me".

Thanks!
