I am trying to figure out how to get our interview done before the 15th, TAX DAY. At that point we'll need to bring more tax documents, which I don't have and probably won't have for a month! It looks like our case-file will arrive on the 2nd or 3rd - a day to review documents - that means we could have an interview on the 5th if there's a spot. Or anytime the following week. However medical isn't until the 9th. I am terrified to mail these people at the embassy, they always respond with a generic response that has absolutely nothing to do with our situation. When I respond pointing that out, they get curt with me. It leaves me in fits. Maybe I should make the two hour trip into the city and talk with a consular before the case arrives and try and set up an appointment ASAP? Yeah, that's what I'll do. Hope it goes fast and I get a May interview! :S I am sorry to hear you weren't approved. It looks like your case is moving forward. I think you should get your packets out as soon as you can print the Cover Sheets for them. Don't wait for the portal to show as paid. It will save you a few days time. IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports	NVC Filers - March 2013	Congrats on the expedite acceptance! And don't worry about your IV package. I've never seen a package mailed back to the petitioner/beneficiary after an expedite approval. Everything always gets gathered up and sent to the embassy. Just stay in contact with NVC for when they send the documents out. Once they send them out, give it a few days, then start calling DOS to find out if the embassy has received your case. Once the embassy has your case, wait about a day for them to process it or so, then contact the embassy (either by email or phone) and ask if you need to do anything and see if an interview date has been assigned. Thank you for the advice Saylin… is it going to be Dr. Saylin soon? I just called again. This is unknown territory for operators - got the same response as before,,, then asked for a supervisor. Spoke with a 'morning' supervisor who said that it was now the job of the first supervisor I spoke with last night to track down my DS-230 packet (she works nights) and that the whole kit and caboodle could be sent Friday, but that they usually send on Saturdays. That's about as much as he knew,,,,, other than he said "wait 10 days." I can't get through to my embassy via phone. They don't allow it. They don't let us park on the embassy grounds either. IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports	NVC Filers - March 2013	I found out today that our expedite request was approved by the embassy. I asked the operator if our DS-230 packet had been reviewed and she said, "no". She then proceeded to tell me that they would send the case to the embassy within 24 hours and that once they found our IV packet they would return that to us via regular mail. She said we should start filling out a new DS-230… I nearly had a heart attack. For a second I tried to explain that doing that would slow us down, then I thought it's better to speak with supervisor about this. Good thing I knew I could, thanks Saylin and others. Supervisor Julie said our case was expedited, and I said our DS-230 was in the building as of the 18th. Would that be returned to us? Julie said, "No, we will track that down and include that in your file going to the embassy". I had her repeat it twice. Still feeling a bit uneasy after hearing the operator entertain the idea of mailing our original documents to our mountain village in Nepal - we still haven't received our NOA2 yet from USCIS!!! It's most likely lost. I think I will be calling again first thing in the morning and making sure they know that our DS-230 packet is in the building and to make a note on our case. The mere idea of them returning those documents is terrifying. After hearing everyone else's experiences with NVC $%$K-ups I am concerned. I have to say I had tremendous fortune today. We have 2 six-hour blackouts each day and sometimes the internet works after the power comes on, sometimes it doesn't. Today the power came on an hour early and then the internet about 20 minutes before NVC closed at midnight. I was able to get through. My expedite request was received by NVC yesterday (thanks to my congressman) and forwarded to the Cairo Embassy yesterday as well! I hope Cairo accepts it soon! I can feel it getting closer and closer to the interview alhamduallah Consider yourself fortunate. It took NVC seven days to forward my expedite request to the Embassy. I sent both the packages together but they seem to have only worked on the AOS packet. Is this what people call a "fake checklist". I am more worried about this because the DS-230 has all the original documents. I am currently visiting my wife and her family in Iran so have no access to be able to call NVC till I get back next week (that will be two weeks since I sent the packet) False Checklist,,,,, This means they have reviewed your AOS packet and didn't know your IV packet was in the building, so they are telling you to send it. But you know it IS there, so all is good. They will soon get too it. No worries. I had the exact same email yesterday and my IV packet has been at NVC since monday of last week. Take a look at some of VJ users signature timelines and you will get a better idea of how much time it's taking to process the packets. For instance, my AOS was approved in 9 days. How long do they take to send it to the embassy? Did you started calling every day to check it's status or what? I don't know what t do next! I didn't send mine through my congressman. I sent it directly to the NVC. I didn't call everyday. I received an email after sending it that had this in the body: Your request for the expeditious processing of this immigrant visa petition is currently under review. You will be informed of the results when the review is completed. I called anyway seven days later and found it hadn't been forwarded to the embassy yet! Who knows why. It has been forwarded as of today and now I wait for the embassy to respond to the NVC and the NVC to send me an email. I get the feeling I have the plague when it comes to dealing with the embassy directly. Under the old process, before Aug 2011, I would have been able to use DCF and have this petition taken care of in a few weeks, maybe a month at the latest. Now they won't even talk to me. You can make it through faster just using the guides here on the site and calling a lot to stay updated on changes to your case as soon as they happen. It's funny how all of us that have files received on March 11th get a case number today!! The lady first asked my for my husband's name and DOB and I knew it at that moment! lol! I gave her both emails, and now I am ready to send out the expedite request through my congressman and another email through me. I hope I hear a reply this week from them! I am so happy alhamdoallah! Congratulations on moving forward. Be ready to send your AOS packet FYI, I emailed an expedite request to NVC and it took them seven days to forward it to the embassy. I hate when I've been waiting on hold for half an hour and as soon as a rep picks up, skype cuts the call. I have been seriously close to tossing my computer out the window a few times. Keep us posted on what they say! Yep, via Skype. I did, eventually, speak with an operator. IV packet hasn't been reviewed yet. Then asked about my expedite request - hasn't been forwarded to the embassy yet!!! So, I asked for a Supervisor and spoke with Ethan (really nice guy) and he said that the expedite had just been forwarded to the embassy today -- Ladies and Gentlemen, in the age of email, why does it take seven days to forward an email? I gather that the NVC defines the word Expedite differently than I do. He also described the "false checklist" as getting "crossed in the mail" with the IV packet. That indicates that they definitely don't scan packets in when they arrive in the mail room. I know,,,, small potatoes compared to the difficulties other's are having on this board. I want to get it paid ASAP. To move things forward. It can take a few days. Maybe three or four. You will get your AOS Fee Bill first along with the DS-3032 if you requested all by email. The IV Fee Bill comes after they have received and entered your DS-3032 email so get that in as fast as possible too. Pay your AOS Fee Bill and print out your Cover SHeet and send your AOS packet immediately - don't wait for the portal to show paid. As long as that cover sheet is attached you're fine. The IV Fee Bill will show up on the portal after they have received and entered your DS-3032. Likewise with the IV - don't wait. Print the cover sheet and mail your packet as soon as you can. My husband doesn't have his but we got a certified copy of his bc from his local government. Is that what you guys got?? As long as his birth has been registered with the government and you have a certified copy then you are good to go. Actually, a false checklist could mean they've approved your IV package! So, I searched DHL for the last five months and found exactly 2 shipments from NVC both in March. Could this be right??? Grrrr why I have had the same problems. Very frustrating! One hint: if you are trying to add another line below and you type a return character at the end of the line it will add all sorts of invisible "BB code" to your signature. Which increases the length. The secret is to type one character at the end of your current line then put the cursor in front of that character and then hit the return key. No extra formatting will be added before and after the invisible return character. One more thing: to remove all the formatting and start over click on the "double A icon with the red badge with a minus in it" at the top left. Then reformat all of your text from scratch. No checklist, Thank God and all members of VJ especially saylin. Folks I think is better to send both package together in one envelope with each barcode as it get reviewed together. The reason I say this is because when i call this morning they told they havent reviewed the package yet and just now when i called the operator told me both packages were reviewed this afternoon and case is completed awaiting interview at the consulate. So time frames are going to vary as it depends on how fast the embassy will respond (which is dependent upon work load). Maybe I will call again next Monday and ask the operator if a T2 would have more information on the expedite. I want to be gentle with the operators' egos. Called today and they are saying they have it but to expect a response sometime next week. Looking at the timeframe other's expedites were handled in I was expecting an answer within a weeks time not two. I guess it's a good sign that it wasn't rejected immediately?? Just so you know, the operator I reached today says that they don't make a note in the system when they receive your mail, only once it's been reviewed by someone. Apparently they only make a note when they receive your case from USCIS; not for any mail you send them. However, the AOS packet was sent from the US and the IV package was sent straight from overseas, so two different envelopes. Here's the funny part: I just got off the phone with NVC and they said the IV package has been reviewed and accepted but they still haven't received the AOS package! retards. So, hopefully, praying, by tomorrow we'll have case complete! I'd stay up to call one more time before NVC closes but it's 1 AM and I have a hair appt tomorrow morning, gotta go beautify myself! Your progress gives me hope. I wish I understood their procedure better. Does the mail room just take all of the envelopes and put them on a cart and push it around the office randomly tossing packages onto peoples desks like christmas presents, or does one person handle a case from beginning to end? If our shipments were entered into the system upon arrival at least the operators would know they are in the building. Not sure if there's any human involvement in the process, my AOS fee went from in process to paid in 1 day, it's been in process since fri evening now, hopefully it'll switch tomorrow! Sigh, this IV packet has grown to be a BEAST, not going to fit in the USPS Flat Rate Express Mail envelope. You don't have to wait for it to show as PAID before you ship. You can ship now. I learned this after the fact - I wish I had sent mine in four days earlier than I did. It would have been there when the fee was cleared by the bank. Just make sure you include your barcoded cover sheet! You have to print that out and attach it to the DS-230. Your cover letter on top. I am wondering why your IV packet is so thick?
