Welcome back to the U.S.! Jum and I are adjusting well, we settled on brown eggs here. I don't think they taste much different than white eggs. Found some good things at the Asian market, just have to go to another Asian market that has some more Thai style foods. this week.

It is a wonderful feeling being together again.

C.J. & Jum

Well we are here. Su and I arrived on May 11th at 12:50pm in NY. So far everything is going well and she is adjusting well. Still very tired and wants to sleep most of the time but all in all everything is good. She has tried to get in to our car from the driver side a few times and stops once she sees the steering wheel.

Went to a few stores to shop for food but everything is PANG! Then I took her to a Super WallMart you would think she was a kid in a candy store. She said that it was like Tesko Lotus.

All the funny things that has happen with other member (Like the eggs) has happen with us too.

Now it is time to plan the wedding and then the AOS.

Thanks to all

Ray and Su

Happy happy, as can be! New York City was a lot of fun. Jum arrived in New York on Monday morning on the direct Thai Airways 17hr flight. No problems at the border crossing, just asked if she would get married within 90 days and answered yes. So, that probably makes one of the shortest interviews. Settling back into Charlotte now, weather is much better than NYC. Off to Wilmington, NC tonight to visit for Mother's day.

So much to do and Jum is adjusting well. I sure love the home cooking, sure beats mac and cheese and frozen pizzas. We are having a wonderful time together. Its a dream come true.

Hope we can get together with you and Bram sometime!

UMM...

I'm wondering how CJ and Jum is doing right now.. she's in the US already .. umm.. happy happy :D

5 more days until Jum arrives! I am so excited. The place is ready and stocked with food, and I just found a local grocery store that stocks full size prawns! I think I am all set. I fly up to New York City and pick her up early morning May 8th. She is on the non-stop Thai Airways flight to NYC. We will spend a few days there and then come on back to Charlotte. I am looking forward to it, the wait is almost over.

The same form I-134 is used for co-sponsors.

Thank you for the info for co-sponsor.
But I can not open the website for the co-sponsor as you guy suggested. I read the I-134 instruction, it did not say anything about co-sponsor. I think the co-sponsor needs to meet the same requirements and fill out the same form as the petitioner. But I can not verify that under the I-134 instruction. Please advise other litterature I need to read. Thanks

I use ikobo.com too. Its a U.S. based international money transfer company. The service is great, and you can always talk to a live person if you want.

An even easier route, get an extra ATM card (in your name) on an existing bank account or just open up another account at a bank and send it to your fiancee. The ATM card will most likely work just like it does here in the U.S.

It works fine for us, and not as many sending/receiving limits either.

Once you get married you have to open up your wallet anyway, no better time to start than now.

Everything has its only little way of working out. Just think back just one year ago and think about how much more wonderful your life has become. Life gets better the more we live it.

C.J.

Life is full of little surprises!

I am mailing off the AOS paperwork tomorrow and we found out today that before the end of the year I will get TWO extra tax dedections. One for my new wife and another in November! We were taking precautions but I guess when it's time it's time! 2006 is shaping up to be a GREAT YEAR! Now I can pull out that I-765 (EAD)

Congratulations Anya and Bram! It was a pleasure to meet you two as well. Now that you have the EAD time to get to work! At this rate, by meeting 3 visa journey members in the past 1.5 months, I should be able to meet everyone on here by the year 2010.

Its nice to know that things are moving right along for you. Overall, I think that the whole immigration process is an interesting and eventful experience although it has its annoying little things here and there. You would think that with the photo that they would use a digital camera instead of the old fashioned picture. But then again, I have not upgraded my digital camera in 8 years myself so I am not always on the forefront of technology either. :-)

When Jum arrives, we will have to plan a little get together. And, thanks again for the food! Get some rest, you two have had a long day. All that just for a card with your pretty picture on it. Which reminds me, I need to get my driver's license address changed.

Hope to see you guys around again soon!
C.J.

P.S.-I will send the pictures we took later on tonight.

I have stayed at the Grand Hyatt Erawan and it was nice and convenient but the price is higher. Type in "serviced apartments Bangkok" in a web search and you will see a lot of choices. The serviced apartments are a good deal and some are just like a hotel without the price.

In case anyone hasn't seen, there was a guy who destroyed the Erawan shrine area outside of the Hyatt in Bangkok early Tues. morning.

http://www.bangkokpo...ws.php?id=86406

Having been there many times with Jum, I feel sad for what happened. I hope and pray that everything will be ok for everyone and that the shrine will still carry on and be able to be rebuilt so that others can show their faith.

ufkenmill,

Her interview should be a breeze! Living there and being there for the interview probably helps.

I was there for Jum's interview and she was asked one question, How many times had I been to visit?

The visa was scheduled to be ready the next day at 3PM. We had other travel plans that day to celebrate and after the visa was approved, we made arrangement to pick up the visa the next week.

Hanging out in the lobby outside the interview windows while others get a visa is quite an experience. Just seeing the happy smiles and excited faces of those being granted visas to the U.S. really makes a USC appreciate the country in which we live.

Even hanging out in the little room to the right where the visas are handed out was a good feeling. And when the person's name is called, the long wait is over.

Tiksman,

Now you are almost all set, the journey goes on! Jum had all of the required shots she would need even though they are not required for the K-1, so everything is all set for the time when she applies for AOS.

Good luck, keep on moving along.

Thanks for the suggestion on shipping things, that was another question I was going to ask in the future. I want to make sure Jum can take all of the things that she wants. I would need a whole cargo ship to ship the things I would want to bring if I was moving to Thailand. Good thing too, my mom lives in Wilmington, NC, so the destination would be very convenient. Yep, one more Thai lady coming to NC, we should get together sometime. I'm looking forward to the exciting times to come!

I'm back in the U.S. I had a wonderful time with Jum. We had our formal engagement ceremony and reception with about 175 guests. I will put together a web page with some pictures. It was a very festive event in her hometown of Ubon Ratchathani. We had plenty of pictures taken that turned out very nice. We also both traveled to Had Yai for the first time (her sister lives there now) and went to Songkhla. After a few days I realized how very comfortable I was with Jum and it was confirmation that the love that we had was as strong as ever. We had not seen each other in person for 1 year and 1 month. It was a wonderful feeling to be close once again.

Jum got her visa with no problem, I was there for the interview. One question was asked "How many times had I been to visit her?" I also got to meet a fellow VJ person, Su. It was nice to meet a person a world away that in a sense felt close to home. Two approvals on the same day.

As always, it is tough to leave as I enjoy being with Jum and I really enjoy Thailand. But, we are now one step closer as she has her visa in hand and can come over any time. Once she was approved, the temptation to come back with me was very strong. :-) She will be coming to the U.S. in a few months after we settle the fun moving things (and I prepare our place to look clean and organized :-) )

As a side note, if you are unable to pickup the visa the next day (or appointment time) you can tell the officer ahead of time and they will hold the visa and the brown envelope for you at a later date. We went one week after the interview, on Valentine's Day...it was one of the greatest presents we had for each other!

We are one happy couple!

VISA APPROVED, YAHOO! I am here with Jum for a few weeks and we were approved this morning. We both got there about 6am and greeted Khun Su (who was first in line, I might add) and gave her the special document delivery. Upon entry into the Embassy, we turned in the required paperwork after Su. We waited a few hours and watched several students get their visas. Jum was called among the first K-1 applicants. One simple question:

Window 6 - Farang Male
How many times has C.J. been to Thailand?

Come pick up your visa tomorrow at 3pm.

The wait is over and one step complete, Jum and I are both very happy.
Thanks for all of the support and encouragement from everyone here. We will be celebrating in Thailand here!

C.J. & Jum (together again!)

Quick Question for anyone. Once the visa is approved, I know they say to come back the next day at 3pm. Is it possible to come another day a few days after that...at 3pm of course? Jum and I have a tight travel schedule and we would definitely not want to sacrifice losing the visa or something at this point in the journey. Any help appreciated!

Well as luck would have it we ran into a problem. The I-134 form I sent had a few small problems my address says 2400 and not 4200. I also left a letter off of Su's name. Is this a big problem? If so what is the best way to get the corrected form to her? Or should we play stupid? Please help

Have to agree, get a new I-134 together, get it notarized, and ship it there the fastest way possible. Granted, it may be overlooked, but why take the chance.

I would not worry about a thing, the student loan debt is a personal matter wholly separate from any immigration requirement and will likely never be questioned at all since she would be immigrating to the US. For the future, you might also consider adding her to your credit accounts for her to build up positive credit history in the U.S. Continue as you are and good luck on your journey!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresformat for sending inK1?
I used this guide, organized everything, puunched three holes in every page, put those gold fasteners in each hole (like those gold things you used to put in your childhood papers). This way, the package was connected together, but easily taken apart as needed. We had no RFE, not stops along the way, and never one question about anything submitted. The index, I feel, is important to include. Take it from the perspective that you are the one reviewing the file for the first time. Make it easy for them, and hopefully they will make it easy for you.

I found this topic very useful. It explains in detail how to assemble the I129f package.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresJust starting K-1 process
Cover letters like the one above are great. The process is much easier than most people think. We have helped several people go through this process successful. Our total I-129F petition was no more than 30 pages, most of which were bank statements and tax returns attached to the I-134 Aff. of support. 2 pictures, some emails, phone call logs, quick story about how you met, intent to marry within 30 days letter, etc. Review the guides on this forum, or post any specific question on this forum and I am sure that someone has the answer. I would never pay anything for an outside party to handle this type of process unless you had a more complex case such as visa overstays. Good luck!
CJ&JumMaleThailand2010-11-11 00:28:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresURGENT: Do I need a co-signer for my I-134?
Agreed, remember that proof of income is different than a filed tax return. As you pointed out, you had income obtained outside of the U.S. In the I-134 affidavit documents, they do not ask specifically for U.S. income. Just document your total income and you have well enough funds to support. There should be no issue.

Document your current income and savings, and you should qualify nicely on your own.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPacket 3 sent from America OK?
So long as the documents were sent to the correct address, and everything requested was contained within, the point of origin of the documents should not matter. There are many instances like yours, or others where people may have law firms prepare such documents and send them in. So, not a problem for you. Good luck.
CJ&JumMaleThailand2010-11-11 00:34:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPetition photos
I enclosed 3 photos, printed on regular paper, two of us together in Thailand, and one with family. I wrote a brief caption on each photo. Never any problem and I never saw the pictures again so they probably went into the magic circular file at the embassy. There is no need to have anything fancy, just like others suggest, submit what is requested and you should be fine. We had no problems with our visa process several years ago. It was painless. Good luck!

I'm a Sawasdee thread poster from years back. What happened to this thread? am I really the first poster in 2012? I thought I would bring it to the top.
Well, we have good news, Jum is officially a U.S. citizen. From first meeting in 2004, through the fun adventures of wading through the immigration process, we have come to the finish line. I wanted to thank Visa Journey for all of the great information and support from all the members. It is a long journey for everyone. Speaking from one who has seen it through to the end, I can provide one word of advice on the whole process: "PATIENCE"

Good luck to everyone, as always, I am happy to provide any advice.
