Hey everyone - been reading forum for a while but only now posting. Got my NOA2 on Feb. 11. NVC still has not received my case. I called USCIS and spoke to a Tier2 rep, and they told me they didn't know if it was mailed or not. They would have to put in a request to the NBC (where my case was processed) which will take another 2 weeks.

Anything else I can do at this point or do I just need to wait it out?

It's been more than a month! That's unacceptable, you need to call NVC and have them request the file from USCIS, if they refuse to do anything, contact your congressperson; that's worked for a lot of people.

And the tier 2 rep is lying they can see when and where the case has been mailed.

I wondered if anyone had weighed the risk to benefits of sending their AOS and IV packets after they've paid the bills but before the check has cleared? I was so tempted to do that since we live on the opposite side of the Earth relative to New Hampshire. My reasoning was that by the time it gets there, and by the time it makes it out of the Common Mail Room onto an agents desk, the check will have cleared, and we'll have saved time. Then I got to thinking about the worst case scenario which was, it was opened too soon and tossed in the "return to sender bin". Then added to the saddle bags at Pony Express. Then all of our Original Documents got lost. Just the thought of having to go to every Ministry in Nepal for new originals turned me into an ultra-conservative. Think I'll wait.

They won't throw them in the "return to sender bin", lol! A lot of people, even some in the states, do this to save time. I would have sent my AOS the day the fee was paid but it wasn't ready yet. Your papers won't get lost b/c your check hasn't cleared yet, don't worry about it. How long does it take for papers to get from Nepal to NVC? For us it only takes two days using fedex, so if it's something similar for you I'd wait. But if it takes something like a week then I'd go ahead and send once the fee has been paid. A week is enough time for the fee to show up as paid.

Beware of Rant!
I am having a real problem with the attitude of the staff at our Embassy. Whenever I send an email asking for information I get an email reply a few days later with absolutely no useful content. Often they just rephrase the question without making any attempt to disclose procedure or local resources. It's such a bizarre change from two years ago - where they would literally tell you every detail of how to proceed. I am in a strange position. On one hand I want to write back asking why they are so curt, and the other I want to just ignore it until our case is finished. But of course I need the Embassy to get us through the case. In this situation I was able to find out via a Google search that there was a court case against the government to let notaries do translations and that the notaries did win the case. This all happened just recently and there is now a website, but no contact numbers for "Official Notaries". Considering that translation of documents in Nepal is absolutely necessary for the US Embassy one would think the Embassy could direct you with the correct contact information. It is after all their requirement that we have to meet.

Who can officially translate Nepalese documents into English for the US Embassy. In 2011 it was Shree Law Book Management Board in Barbar Mahal. Has this changed?

Uh, yup, welcome to the US embassy! I'm starting to think all US embassies around the world are like this, is it a requirement in order to work there or something? I wrote an email asking a question, it was long b/c I needed to explain the situation in order to get an accurate response. I got a call from a guy who spent five minutes complaining about how long my email is. Then he didn't really answer my question. It was SO frustrating! I'm praying that when I request an earlier interview date I won't get this attitude b/c I seriously might flip.

Oh, nice, didn't know TaxAct automatically did that! I'll have to recommend that program then with those that have spouses abroad.

And although you can't eFile, at least you can do it through one of the tax programs then merely print it out at the end to mail. Much easier than actually trying to do the paper form by yourself

oh, definitely! I just printed the forms and sent them in, easy peasy! It's also the only tax program I found that works for USC who are living overseas, most of the others didn't have the required forms or if they did they cost money. TaxAct is free for the current year. I didn't download either, just signed up on the website and did it all online.

Remember, you can't use TurboTax while your spouse doesn't have a SSN. TurboTax won't let you put 'NRA' in the SSN field. Nor can you apply for a W7 through TurboTax. Unfortunately, taxes have to be done by paper until your spouse arrives in the US.

You have that choice with TaxAct, it's what I used

When you chose the option that your spouse was overseas with no SSN or ITIN it automatically put NRA in the spot for the SSN on the 1040

But that's only for doing the paperwork, you're still going to have to send in a paper return you won't be able to efile.

Wow, for the first time I am feeling like weekend is waste of time and I want to pass it quickly so Monday can be here soooon!!!

loool I think this comment is stated every 10 or 15 pages in every NVC thread! We ALL feel this way!

I haven't had a chance to update but as you can see from my signature all payments have cleared (IV bill took only 1 day! Guess they were making up for taking 8 days with the AOS bill? lol) and all packages have been sent. I should give it a week before I start calling for case complete, right? They should receive both IV and AOS packages on Monday...

hello. just a question, the documents that are submitted to NVC, are they the same documents that I will take to the embassy for the interview? how many I-864 forms does my husband needs to prepare? and also the tax return transcripts?

you should take everything you've submitted from the beginning of the application to the interview. BUT all you have to do is make copies of each packet before you send it. You don't need to order more transcripts or have your husband fill out another i-864, just make copies before they're sent and take those copies with you to the interview.

lool it's b/c it's the middle of the night for everyone else in the States

Send in the DS-3032 again after your AOS bill is invoiced. Then they'll DEF have your case in the system and ready to accept any changes. If you've got an error message now and can't login that means that they're inputting the case in the system and once you can login you'll probably see your AOS bill and be able to pay it.

Roosha, you are just ahead of me in this process. I am guessing a week. So, if you don't mind, I will be asking another question. I did send the DS-3032 as an email and in a four hours I got a response:
Dear Sir/Madam:
The National Visa Center (NVC) received your inquiry regarding the immigrant visa petition: KDUXXXXXXXXXX filed by ME on behalf of HER.
We are unable to add third party contact information to the case record at this time. Please continue to notify the NVC of any change in the petitioner's or principal applicant's address.
This petition is now eligible for further processing. The petitioner, principal applicant, and/or attorney of record will receive an instruction package regarding further processing of this petition.
According to SayLin, in a post from last year, this is what you get when you email your DS-3032 too soon. Should I wait a few days or just send it in again in 24 hours. What does "eligible for further processing" mean if they won't accept our emailed DS-3032? I don't want to annoy these people. But I really want to get all of this paperwork out of the house so I can think about something else for a month.

I say send it again now. And put Supervisor Review in the Subject line of the email. If you want to be sure of acceptance you could wait until you can see your AOS bill invoiced and THEN send, then it's sure to be accepted. In the interest of speed though I wouldn't wait. Just keep sending until they accept, don't worry about annoying anyone, they need to do their jobs!! Good Luck!

I called again and the operator asked me if I wanted to add an email address. I did. Then he said to wait until we received our DS-3032 in the mail, 30-45 business days - yikes, before doing anything else. Guess I should ignore that and send it in now as an email, right? That's what I am going to do.

Yes def ignore that! Use the template and also if you can scan and attach the actual form DS-3032 and send the email. You should get an email accepting your choice of agent in about a week. Always ignore NVC operators and their timelines!

Also, make sure you add both yours and your wife's email addresses!

Am I the only one?

Called today and was so happy to finally get our NVC case number, Invoice ID, and Beneficiary ID. But when I tried to give them our email addresses they said they couldn't attach anything at this point because the case number had just been created. He suggested I send an email with our email addresses. What do you think? Email or call back in the morning? Also, it seems pointless to send the DS-3032 via email if they can't even attach our email addresses to the case yet.

Comments anyone?

Still we're very happy just to have our case number and things are moving. I've been calling everyday for two weeks straight.

Call back in the morning, they should have taken your emails and also verified your address and your wife's address on the same phone call! NVC operators :bonk:

You're right, the email needs to be associated with the case before you can move forward with processing.

We got invoiced the IV bill today (yay!), BUT AOS bill is STILL in process! I thought at least when the invoice came through it''s knock the AOS fee into "paid", but no luck

There DEF has to be something wrong, it's so weird that NO ONE who paid last week is getting the "paid" confirmation.

DS-3032 has been accepted! That Supervisor Review thing really works! AOS bill still says in process, how crazy is THAT? Lets hope the IV bill gets invoiced quick.

What is weird is that the acceptance email was only sent to my husband's email, they didn't send it to me. This is the acceptance email right?

The National Visa Center (NVC) received your inquiry regarding the immigrant visa petition: DOH2013XXXXXX filed by ME on behalf of MY HUSBAND.

We received the principal applicant's DS-3032 (Choice of Address and Agent) form designating an address and agent. Instructions for paying the immigrant visa application processing fee and all future correspondence will be sent to the agent at the address selected on the DS-3032.

Also, at the bottom where it lists our names and case number and stuff it says this:

Foreign State Chargeability: LEBANON
U.S. EMBASSY
22ND FEBRUARY STREET
AL LUQTA DISTRICT
P.O. BOX 2399, DOHA, QATAR

which makes absolutely NO sense b/c Lebanon is a totally different country! The only reason this worries me is that my aunt just recently went through this process and NVC sent her petition to Lebanon instead of Bahrain where she was living. Our case number starts with DOH which is the embassy here in Qatar, so should I just ignore this?

Guys, reading the shortcut pages, and the i-864 website. I think i'd be eligible for an I-864EZ, it's for my spouse, and my income alone is being counted. Does the NVC accept I-864EZ or should I wait until I get the letter to fill in the correct document?

You filed a Form I-130 petition, for your relative
There is only one applicant on the Form I-130 petition, and
All your qualifying income comes from a salary or pension and shows on one or more W-2 Forms that you receive

THEN
Complete an I-864EZ. on your computer using CAPITAL letters
Review the I-864EZ Checklist
Print the completed form
Attach the bar code sheet, and
Mail them to the NVC unless you have joined the E-Mail Electronic Processing program, then?
Scan the I-864EZ to Portable Document Format (PDF) and send it as an e-mail attachment to NVCElectronic@state.gov. Sending physical documents to the NVC will delay the processing of your case. When sending completed forms to the NVC do not include instruction pages or any other sheets which do not carry information you entered while completing the form.

On a totally different note, I just realized that I didn't complete the form in capital letters. ARGH another thing to worry about!!

hi friends! i have question in DS-230 part1 #30. List all places you have lived for at least 6 months since reaching age 16.
when i was studying, i lived at my Aunt's house for 2 years, but i went home every weekend. it's just same province but different city/town. Should I include putting this? or not counted since i went home every weekends? Thank you!

It says list the places you've lived. If you were there every weekend you were visiting, not living. Your place of residence was your Aunt's house.

So we got emailed a bar coded cover sheet for the AOS, but our payment is still 'in process' according to the Payment Portal website. Do we have to wait until it says "Paid" before sending the package? Is there a different bar coded cover sheet we will be issued? Thanks!

Nope, same cover sheet. I paid on the 27th and it's also still processing. How long will it take for your package to reach NVC? As long as the package reaches after the status changes to "paid" then you'll be fine.

How long has it been taking for invoices to show as paid? We paid AOS bill on the 27th (Wed) and still isn't showing paid. This is the third business day. Should I call or give it until Monday. (rant: why do all my deadlines seem to fall on weekends? Am starting to hate weekends! lol)

They've also got until the end of the day today to accept my DS-3032 or else I'm doing supervisor review, I don't care if it's only been a week, how hard is it to receive an email and review it?

January 2013 I-130 Filers

Your petition will be transferred to the National Visa Center once you receive your I-130 approval. Once at the NVC, you send in the required documentation and pay the fees for your spouse's Adjustment of Status and Immigrant Visa. Once your case completes at the NVC your file will get sent to your appropriate consulate and your interview date will be scheduled. There are some very helpful pinned threads in the NVC forum if you want to read up and gain some more detailed information.

Not all. Not even most I don't think. The simple answer to that question is "we don't know"

There are a lot of cases on here where the USC is in the US and the beneficiary abroad and yet their case never seems to have left NBC. So I'm not sure what the criteria is that would keep the file at NBC instead of transferring to a field office, but there's seems to be one.

Nope, it was done automatically.

If your I-130 does get sent to a local field office after going to the National Benefits Center, does USCIS notify you of the change via email, postal mail, etc?

Not that I know of, most people get that information after calling in and asking to speak to a Tier 2 ISO. They'll tell you if your case has been transferred. But this is typically done a month or so from your NOA1 date. Some people have been getting transferred to local offices 2 or 3 months after their NOA1 date. It's all just a mess

May 2012 - Followed with USCIS about the status. They told that they have sent a Bio metric appointment and I never came to give Bio metrics. I told them that I have not recieved any such appointment. They said they will send another one.
