I feel you though. There was this couple that had interviewed for K-1 in january at our embassy and got approved. Then next day the guy got a call from the embassy saying he should come pick up his passport cos they need to do AP and aren't sure when they will complete so dnt want to hold unto his travel document in case he needs it. I kept thinking "this better not happen to u cos it's not gonna be funny".

The uncertainties in this process make us inhibit ourselves sometimes when we should not.

See this is why I love this forum, you get it! My whole family is like what is wrong with you? She said no more processing from their side, and they kept the passport and they said they will call in a couple weeks once visa is stamped. But still, I can't believe it's actually happening until I see it, hold it, smell it!!! Crazy? Yup!!

I requested an earlier date b/c May 19 is too close to my due date. I emailed them in the beginning of the month when I knew they had they file and they called my husband last Monday to tell him to come in today :)

 

Good luck with yours and hopefully no AP for you either! I still can't believe it, I was so sure we'd get stuck there!

Qatar Airways is one of the best, I love flying with them when I can. Very good airline, too bad all their rates are a LOT more expensive when you buy from Qatar!

 

So we're back.....AND APPROVED!! YAAAAAAAAAAAY

 

At the end of the interview the woman who interviewed us said they're going to keep the passport and they'll call in a couple of weeks, when visa is ready. I was like couple? you mean two? and she's like well it usually doesn't take that long, probably this week max next. So I asked whether there was any more processing and she told me about paperwork and stuff that we might have to complete at POE but no more processing from their side. That means no AP right? I mean I feel like I can't celebrate until I see that visa stamped in his passport!!

Did you get the letter by email? or in the snail mail? I was told you can call the Embassy directly after they set an appointment and try, but most of the time they do not change unless emergency. Just hear say, so interested to see what others have heard.

It depends on the embassy. I emailed mine and they said we'll get the earliest date after they receive our file. They only do IV interviews on Sunday so whenever they receive our file, it'll be the Sunday after.

Congrats on your interview. What about his medical?

He's going today to do his medical, he went yesterday to see what paperwork he needs to bring, they said they only need his case number. So we just printed the P4 email and took that. There's also a letter on the embassy website for the medical that I printed but they said they don't need that. They also gave him a stack of forms to fill out his biodata. He didn't need an appt or anything either, they said to just come in...

Congratulations awesome. WOW 1 week. So you will make it to US in time for baby birth in US. Now don't get yourself all excited now okay. update whenever you can do it after i know you will be busy this week. And I know you will be in the embassies butt like a tick on a dog. Go get um.

Well, one week if someone from the IV unit gets up off their butt and goes to check their mail! Might be longer if they don't "receive" file this week.

Even if he does get visa this month it's too late to have the baby in the states :( but at least I know that when we move I won't be moving alone! (That is, if we don't get stuck in AP) BAH it's so hard to get excited b/c so many things can still delay the process!!

Got an email from the embassy today saying they rescheduled interview for Apr 14!!! Then another email 5 min later saying no they take it back b/c they haven't received my case yet (lazy, it got there on Thurs, it's probably sitting in the mail room), but once they do they'll schedule us for the next Sunday (they only do IV interviews on Sundays).

So now I'm running around like a crazy person trying to make sure all our packets are in order (it's all unorganized and all over the place right now) and seeing which pics I should print to bring with us.... :wacko:

I don't know if I should update the list here when they give us an earlier date? I don't want to throw off those waiting for their dates...

To do this you have to assume your file was the only one shipped that day to that embassy? If there was 3 or 4 packages sent how would you know what one was yours or if any were?

If you have the day that NVC shipped your case (usually they tell you they shipped a date, but the date the package was actually picked up is the next day. They told me they shipped my file on April 1st, but it was actually picked up by DHL on April 2nd) then you should be able to tell which case is yours. Not a lot of cases for the country I'm in, but if you can narrow down the date then it doesn't matter if they shipped your case by itself or with others, the point it you can tell when it arrives at the embassy. If they have lots of files for the same embassy they'll group them together and send them together in the same package. Once you find the package you can actually see the weight of it, I couldn't find it but I've seen members find it. If you see the weight you can tell if the package has more than one file.

You should call NVC and see the date that they sent your file. Then read this thread: http://www.visajourn...-to-us-embassy/ and go to the dhl website and input the information. I tried like 3 or 4 different dates before I found mine. Good Luck!

You need to make sure your case is actually in San Diego b/c you can't trust operators at USCIS, even Tier 2 ones. Do you have someone who can make an infopass appt for you? They can go check on the file. If it truly is at San Diego I suggest you go straight to congressman/senator, don't even try to go through avenues in USCIS, you'll waste time and they'll just screw up your file even more.

Lastly, call USCIS and ask them what address they have on file for you, the petitioner. If it's the Belgium address there's very little probability that your file was sent to San Diego and the USCIS operator is an idiot. If the address is in the US, then you might have a problem :(

Nope, approvals from NBC aren't worded like that at all. Here's my email:

"On January 25, 2013, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I130 IMMIGRANT PETITION FOR RELATIVE, FIANCE(E), OR ORPHAN. Please follow any instructions on the notice. If you move before you receive the notice, call customer service at 1-800-375-5283.

For approved applications/petitions, post-decision activity may include USCIS sending notification of the approved application/petition to the National Visa Center or the Department of State. For denied applications/petitions, post-decision activity may include the processing of an appeal and/or motions to reopen or reconsider and revocations."

Maybe it's some kind of extra processing? I have no idea, I'm sorry :(

Wow, so many emails for the same notice! lol! Um what I think is that the first email is notice of your approval and the second one, if it says Post-Decision Activity means that they've sent the file to NVC (sometimes it says Dept of State, NVC is part of Dept of State). You can also check your case status on the uscis website, if it moves from approval to post decision activity it means they've sent the file.

I think you're misreading the second email. I got one email saying approved, and then another that says this:

Your Case Status: Post Decision Activity

On January 30, 2013, we shipped this approved or re-affirmed case to the Department of State for visa processing. For more information, please contact them directly.

For approved applications/petitions, post-decision activity may include USCIS sending notification of the approved application/petition to the National Visa Center or the Department of State. For denied applications/petitions, post-decision activity may include the processing of an appeal and/or motions to reopen or reconsider and revocations.


But I never got an email saying they mailed the approval to me...

I kno right! :lol: I got all excited when I saw the email but then I was like um yea that doesn't mean that I'll get my case number any quicker, just means USCIS sent my file to NVC, no indication that NVC will act on that file anytime soon!

ya, call back tomorrow, ask specifically 'Please send me my AOS FEE BILL via email'.

When it hits yer email inbox, send off that email version of the DS-3032.

Should we send after AOS has been invoiced or right after we get the case and IIN numbers? I was under the impression it was after receiving case number?

Nice! It only took 6 days for your file to get sent from USCIS to NVC, right? That gives me hope as I'm sitting here praying that it doesn't take a month for that b/c that will seriously hold me up!

Hellooo!! After lurking in this thread I get to officially join now, weeeeeee!

Just a quick question for now about taxes. I have three years of back taxes that I'll be sending out tomorrow. With your experience with NVC processing recently do you think the IRS will finish processing my taxes in time for when I need to send in the AOS? If God has sent me this ultra-fast approval from USCIS only to smack me in the face b/c my dumba$$ didn't file taxes I think I might faint! :lol:

You can use Skype and pay a very low monthly fee, something like 5 or 6 USD and you can call any USA number and you'll have unlimited minutes. There are monthly plans that cost less but you'll have a limit on how many minutes you can use per month. I plan on doing that when it's time for NVC.

They still haven't transferred us even with the American addresses. Color me confused.

Well not all cases are being transferred, some are being approved out of NBC w/out being transferred at all. Yours might be one of the them. What I meant is that I haven't seen ANY file abroad cases be transferred to a local office, by file abroad that means the address of the petitioner is overseas.

Correct. We did not state she was in the US currently and we filled out her address abroad on page 2. If they set us up for an AOS they will be making a stretch of an assumption... although it seems that using her american address on page 1 may have slowed us down. I had thought all i130s (regardless of oversea or america) were being to transferred to local offices due to workload, but it sounds like you are saying that is not the case for overseas filers...

I know, but you did put an American address on the first page under her information, right? Some idiot might take that to mean that she's in the states, we've seen weirder things happen. I wouldn't put it past them!

What KDH said, it's more in the interest of speeding up your case, that's all. Also, after you get NOA2 approval I would double check that your case isn't pegged as an Adjustment of Status. The reason I think they might make this mistake with your case is b/c you put an american address for your wife that means that she currently lives in the USA and so would apply to adjust her status. That would seriously mess up your case, and I REALLY hope they don't do that!

I put my american address (mom's house) for both of us as we receive mail there for everything on the i130. However on the portion that says 'relative's address abroad' I put our overseas address. San Francisco office (where my paperwork is at now) serves the area of my american address.

That's why you were transferred to a field office, you should have put your overseas address on both sides of the i130 :( People who file from abroad shouldn't get transferred to local offices. They probably think you're in the states, and they might even think your spouse is too!

The people on VJ said that their case was at a field office and the rfe wasn't online. I think they got a letter from the field office.


ah ok, I thought you meant that with your research you could see that some of the cases that had been sent to field offices! duh, me! :bonk:

I saw 2 RFEs in my case wandering, but I did see some field office people didn't get them online.


How can you tell that a case has been transferred to a field office? I thought there was no way to tell unless you actually called and got that information?

No need to yell coolguy! Anyway my point of changing the service center is so that people who have been transferred to NBC don't think they're the only ones w/out approval, I know that the transfers to local offices are skewing the data even more, but at least we can narrow down who has been transferred and also the data for the other centers (VSC and CSC) are not skewed by our data. Am i making sense? :blink:

Btw Treva if you call in to USCIS and get a tier 2 ISO I think they can tell you exactly where your file is. I haven't tried this myself but I've seen other posters do it to try to figure out if their file is still at NBC or has been transferred to a local office.

That's an interesting statement coolguy13 is putting out there. August filers who were transferred to the NBC have not been approved. I am just one more example who is still waiting.


You know, the reason coolguy thinks this is probably b/c most people haven't changed their service center in their timeline. The way a lot of us check what's going on with our service center is by checking Igor's List here: http://www.visajourn...tion=3&sortby=2 if you scroll down to August you'll see that all August filers have been approved except for abezyo! So change the service center on your timelines, it'll give everyone a better picture of what's going on!

If you call and get lucky to talk to someone competent they'll tell you what date they're working on. It also shows on the USCIS site, it shows Vermont as processing applications from May 21. The information is there for anyone to see.

LOL. I feel you. I am so glad I am the USC cos if it were the other way around we would still be at this till end of the year probably.My hubby just does not do fast enough with paperwork and procedures :D

Well, it DOES help that I'm not working right now and get to sit at home and research the **** out of this process and whine at him to get his butt moving! You'd think he'd be interested in moving quick too since if he doesn't have his visa by August I'll be leaving anyway with our son and the new baby! *sigh* Is it just me or do women just do better with this kind of detailed stuff? (no offense to the guys on here :D)

Almost! AOS is done, taxes sent off just waiting for them to process so that I can order the transcripts. IV packet is put together but still needs some work. Of course depending on my dear sweet LAZY husband is driving me crazy! He's had papers that need to be translated for a week now and still hasn't done it. Also needs to renew his passport. ALSO needs to check how to get police clearance! :ranting: but at least I know what going into each packet and have done the cover letters, once I have everything it's just a matter of assembling everything and sending it off. This is worse than finals in Uni I swear...
