US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionCalling everyone going thru Islamabad Embassy, version 2.0

Thanks alot for the support for trying to reunite with my husband. BYE BYE VJ.

Shon, I've been reading to catch up with your case and I'm sorry to hear your bad news. I have a friend who's also been trying to go thru that embassy for the past 5 years with no progress. The last they heard was that the visa was approved but they lost the file and can't issue it. :sigh: I will keep you in my prayers.

To become a USC you can apply 90 days before the 3rd anniversary of the date you were approved for your Greencard if you are married to a USC....

Here is a link to the info you need http://www.uscis.gov...00045f3d6a1RCRD

Kez

Is that three years from the time the conditional GC is issued or three years after the conditions are lifted?

We use a made up word in MENA sometimes... I didn't make it up but it's a made up word "mabrookalations" it's a cross between mabrook (arabic for congrats) and congratulations..... that's what we call Arabizi LOL

My daughter was trying to explain to me about the teenage mutant ninja turtle movie she was watching today... she kept telling me that turtle was going to "mamatate" blink.gif turns out he wanted to "meditate" laughing.gif blush.gif

Middle East and North AfricaAnother question about names
Also use the "other names used" section to put it exactly like it is on any other documents like his passport.

Assalaamu alaikum to my muslim sisters/brothers and greetings of peace to all others,

I just wanted to post to give those of you who are still waiting to be reunited with your ME/Arab/muslim spouse/fiance/other half. It is possible! I know it seems like an eternity but they really do let Arabs/muslims in the country!!! :P

I know there are several people here who have been waiting an unusually long amount of time and my prayers are with them but from what I've seen it really isn't the norm. Sure we may have to wait a little longer than the average VJ member because of the name checks and security clearances BUT for the most part the end result is the same... VISA IN HAND!

I think it's important to remember first of all that the person you're waiting for is the one you love and they're worth the wait and just try to be patient during the hard times. It's worth every moment of waiting TRUST ME!

Also, for those of you who are new to this board, there's a lot of really good people here to help you through this process either by offering really great advice on your imigration issues or just to provide support when you're having a tough time. Just remember why you're here (why we're all here) and try to stay away from drama because it tends to just add to the stress you're already experiencing.

My advice to the foreign fiances/spouses regarding the interviewing and POE process is to REMAIN CALM at all times. I understand you're nervous and maybe you've heard horror stories of being sent back (been there done that) but as long as you don't act flaky when dealing with the immigration folks it should go pretty smoothly. Try to get comfortable speaking and understanding the language before you make it to that level to ease the jitters once you're there.

I wish you all the best of luck and keep your chin up! It's going to happen God willing! (F)

Alhamdulillah: As far as I know the person asked about a I-130 (spousal visa) and as far as I know, Egyptian filers can confirm this Americans are not allowed to marry in Egypt anymore. That is why I suggested Tunis. But true, Egypt is much cheaper LOL!

Americans can not marry in Egypt anymore??? :o When did that happen?

As for getting a visa to Libya its not hard at all i applied for mine and got it in 4 days..

:o Is that because you're married to a Libyan or is it the new policy??????

I'm here :D My husband is Libyan and we got his visa with NO problems at all! I have a friend who is also a member here as well and she and her husband are going through the process and so far they have NO hitches at all either! :D

I wouldn't recommend meeting in Tunisia for several reasons... some personal  but it's much more practical IMHO to meet in Egypt because it's cheaper and the shopping is to DIE for!

You can PM me with questions or ask here and I'll answer as much as I'm able. Hopefully I can help you somewhat.
Good luck with your journey! (F)

Middle East and North AfricaMENA: What is playing on your iPod?
I don't have an ipod but I do have a Creative Zen which I think is better than the ipod anyway.
Since I don't listen to music, I have it loaded with the entire Quran recited in Arabic and translated in English that I downloaded from Islam Way and then I have a BUNCH of lectures and sermans that I've collected over time.
I also have a funny video that someone sent me. :P
