K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresToday was my interview and they issued a letter of 221 (g) denial
I am sickened that the consulate can destroy relationships by denying a visa for no good reason. Is thier a high % of males marrying older women and then bolting when they get to america?

Thank you for all your replies. My last question is if I fill out the G-325a form for my wife, am I able to sign for it too, or do I have to send it to her for her signature?

Thanks for your replies. Last question: Does she have to sign the G-325a? It would appear so but since she is in Africa and I am filling out the application, I want to make sure.

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresG-325a form: Filing with I-130
Do I just leave most of the G-325a blank because the intructions say I do not have to write down duplicate info if its already on another form(I-130)?

Question 2. When I downloaded the G-325a forms from the USCIS site, they give me 4 duplicate forms. I know my spouse and I each fill out one each. What are the other extra copies for? I am not sure but does the USCIS want 4 copies each for a total of 8?

Thank you for your time.

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresK3 Visa - What's the Advantage of going through a Lawyer?
Stay away from attorney's at all costs! They are certainly not needed for filing your application. I bet they are not up to speed on the new procedures concerning applying the 129f and I-130 at the same time. One more thing, the attorney hands off this type of work to his secretary but charges you as if he is doing the work.

She uses her current legal name unless specifically asked for her maiden name. Her maiden name is asked for on YOUR G325a.

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresConfusing Example, Please Someone Clarify.
Hi Everyone, I am helping my wife fill out the G-325a for the I-130 Application.

On the Visa Journey example under Adjustment of Status (Green Card) Related Forms--G-325a: in the first box on the upper left portion of the form is family name. Example form says, "Smith". Then on the bottom in the last box to be filled, it says, family name. Example form says, "Doally".

So we have the example form using family name, Smith(married name). Then at the bottom using family name, Doally)maiden name).

Now I am confused. Does the wife use her maiden name when asked for family name or her current family name?

Marriage certificate says 27 but she was 28 at time of marriage. I assume this could be a major problem or does USCIS look at birth certificate and passport for verifying and cross checking personal stats.

How would I remedy this if this is a potential Visa killer?

Crazy.

I bet some of you, like me, did not see them self moving away lets say 5/10 years ago.

It's not even a year since I met my Fiancée, so if someone would have suggested a year ago that I would fall head over heels for a girl on the other side of the globe, and move to the US, I would certainly have laughed. Never thought someone could have this much impact. Very very happy, and now it's just a lot to take care of before moving in 1 1/2 month. Congrats to everyone coming closer to getting forward whereever you are in this process - I think the fact that we're doing this will tie us even closer with our Fiancé(e)s.

Does anyone know if i need the original certificate of dissolution of marriage or a copy?

I am about to send it in, so if anyone knows and have time, i would appriciate it smile.png

The copy needs to be stamped and signed. My fiancées were refused cause the copies were not stamped and signed by the court that they were true copies of the originals.

How did you guys move belongings? We're looking to move some bulky stuff (mostly stuff for our son, a RadioFlyer wagon like this one), far too little for a container, but too much (maybe too big/bulky?) to bring as airplane luggage.

I will move with suitcases and packages on the plane. I am a musician, and I am going to bring all my electronics - computer, speakers, amplifier and what not, plus at least two big suitcases with personal belongings. The last two trips to the US I filled up one big suitcase each time, so a lot of stuff is already there. But bringing over the musical equipment and extra suitcases will cost a lot of money - but my audio system alone costs $4500 (not including musical instruments), so it's cheaper than buying new stuff in the US (and I want this particular gear).

I actually shipped over 10 big moving boxes from Sweden. Didn't cost too much. I did a lot of research and found very price worthy companies. They took care of everything and it was fast. Now I know you are in Norway and the company I used only work from Sweden so that won't help you much but I recommend you to Google and make phone calls!

This is interesting... could you tell me what was the cheapest way you found, what company? It might be better than bring suitcases on the plane, depending on price. Is there insurance included? Would be very happy to know more about it.

What company was it? I am not intending to move stuff right now, but in the future.
Also, i know the visa will arrive in the maul, lol, but they said the visa approval, as if you get an email or something saying that you're approved? Or you just get the cisa and the envelope, and thats the approval?

The first thing on top of the stuff in the package is a letter saying "Congratulations, your K-1 Visa is now approved" or something similar. In the passport is the Visa.

Don't forget that you must bring the chest x-rays to show the customs officer - at least that's what they told me when I did my x-rays.

And... congratulations everyone on the approvals!! :D

I recieved a big package with registered (rekommenderat) mail, containing passport, divorce decrees and medical examination back. Also there was a big envelope inside that you SHOULD NOT OPEN, it is to show to the immigration officer upon arrival in the US. We have scheduled our wedding on 4.4.14 at 4 o'clock. :D

No, I didn't say I got my VISA, I said it took two days for the divorce decrees to arrive from the US. :) They had all the documents on Wednesday, so I'm expecting the VISA soon. :)

I brought copies of my Fiancées divorce decrees, but these were not stamped and signed, so they were not authorized copies. Luckily enough she lives in the State where she was divorced so she went there and got them right away, sent with DHL Express and it only took 2 days. We were lucky there.

Cool! You should add that to the Stockholm Embassy information site. smile.pnghttp://www.visajourn...n&cty=Stockholm

Really? I didn't bring one, wasn't asked for one and got an approval right away. That's good information to have, if they've changed it.

Done! :)

This is how it went down: The lady that I submitted the papers to went through all my papers, and said them all out loud; "extract from population register..." [...] "and there's your CV...". She didn't need the index I had made of the documents included, nor the extract from the church register, so I got those back. If they had not needed the CV, she would have given me that back too, I'm assuming. We read it in the forums somewhere, that's why I brought it.

Is Hälsobarometern a new addition? When I got the info in November Sibylle was the only place in Stockholm that was accepted.

Our visa was issued pretty much the same day that they got our medical results, so I wouldn't worry on that front.  They did get my husband's nationality wrong, as they put Swedish, but it wasn't a problem at POE.

Which divorce documents did you submit?  We just submitted a one page extract/confirmation of my divorce from the clerk of courts and it was not a problem at all.

Edit:  I assumed that the divorce papers were American, but I realize that might not be the case.

---------

As an aside:  apparently my Danish is better than I thought because this university Norwegian course I'm taking I could probably do in my sleep.

We submitted copies done by the court house, but they were not stamped and signed. They were American divorce documents.

Does anyone know for sure that the embassy can recieve signed for / express mail all day? My fiancée is getting the signed divorce papers today and she wants to send them straight to the embassy express/signed for.

I didn't even know you could do your medical without an interview date?! But as far as not recommending doing at Sibyllekliniken, that's the only place people in that are can go, i'm afraid.

May i ask you, why was the dicorce papers an error?

I payed today at Nordea, only they and i forgot the stamp, and i see they need a signature too, so i will have to go back for that. Hope they can do it .

I also tried taking the passport pictures myself, but it didn't work out very well, thought i'd say a few hundreds, haha.

Good luck on your case though, hope you get an approval soon wink.png

I had an interview date, that's why i did the medical. My original interview was scheduled for December 17, but I was gonna be in the US then, and had to postpone it for today.

The divorce papers were not ok because they were not signed authorized copies of the original. An error on my fianceés part.

I called Kassagirot, and they will send me a stamped and signed copy. I also contacted my bank, but all they can see is that a certain amount of money has been withdrawn from my account by the place I paid at. They were gonna sign and stamp it. We'll see if this combination works, otherwise I'll have to pay again.

As far as Sybillekliniken goes, the visit and exam was good, but that they didn't send the papers though they had 1.5 months to do it, plus didn't return my calls or emails when I wanted to verify this, is ridicilous. There is not only Sibyllekliniken, there is also Hälsobarometern.

Many thanks!

Hi,

I just had my interview at the US embassy in Stockholm, and posted a review about it. It was all very smooth, easy going and professional.

I would just like to post here an advice for all Swedes. I paid the Visa interview fee at the local post office, through Kassagirot. This proved not to be qualified as a proof of payment. I know that in the instructions it said to pay at a bank, but I was naive enough to think that it would be the same thing to pay through Kassagirot, since I had asked the post office beforehand and they told me they would scan my drivers license which would put my name and address on it. Now I have no idea what to do, because as far as I know, Kassagirot is not affiliated with any bank, and I have to have the proof of payment "signed and stamped by a bank official". Potentially I have to pay the fee again, which would be an annoyance. I have not googled anything yet so I'm just throwing this out here. Anyone has any advice?

Also, I strongly suggest you don't use Sibyllekliniken as a place to do the medical exam. I did my medical on December 5, and wanted to be sure that it had been sent to the embassy - so therefore I have tried to get hold of them for the past few weeks. They never returned my calls or emails, until yesterday at 4:30 in the afternoon, only to tell me it had not been sent. So, because they hadn't sent the results of my medical exam, and I didn't have the correct proof of payment, plus another document that didn't sufficiently enough according to their standards meet the demands of my fiancées previous two divorces, I was not granted a Visa on the spot. But, the divorce papers was an error on our part, and the proof of payment could have been done a different way, according to their supplied instructions, also a naive error on my part. Sibyllekliniken was extremely unprofessional though, so if we had met the other requirements we would have still not been granted a Visa on the spot, since they failed to submit the result of the medical exam. Do not use Sibyllekliniken.

Our case will be reviewed within 2 weeks after we've supplied the documents and the medical results has been recieved.

Quick random question...does anyone know if you can bring a cell phone into the Embassy in Stockholm?  I read that some of the embassies allow you to check in your phone upon entry and receive a ticket to pick it up on your way out...

Thanks!

Hi all!

Does anyone know of an authorized translation service in Stockholm?  We need to get a couple forms translated and have had a hard time finding one that is an authorized service.

Also, thanks for the feedback on the spelling!  In one area it said it only mattered if the letters were in your name, not the address.  I guess we will go with "aa" just to be safe!

Regarding photos - what we discovered was that the photos that most people take for official documents in Sweden (using the photobooths) were actually smaller than 2x2.  We ended up scanning the photo in and enlarging it to 2x2 just to be safe!

Hi there,

I have a quick question on filling out the DS-160 form.  My fiance's address has swedish characters in it - I couldn't tell if he needs to spell those differently on the form or if that is just if you have those characters in your name?  For example, the official site says to write them "aa"  "ae"  "oa" etc....

Thanks,

Stephanie

Now, about the actual interview... I'm supposed to bring a birth certificate - födelsebevis. Thing is, that we don't use this in Sweden - we only use extracts from the population register which is handled by the Swedish Tax Authority. So, I have no idea what to bring, since they ask for both a birth certificate, and an extract from the population register. Is there anyone who has done the interview here - what did you bring?

Hi. Wow, i looked at your timeline and i have a question, how come nvc recieved 26 and you already have an interview today? Is your timeline really correct??

Why not pay a little extra and delay your flight, cause i dont know if u can get a new interview that quick. I wont get to celebrate either my fiances bday nor xmas or new years, but i know once i have the visa, i will get to spend each and every one of them after wink.png

Hi,

That doesn't look right... We have this profile shared, and I'm assuming my fiance updated it as NVC recieved today, no idea why it says 26. Weird!

I think I'll email and ask, saying that in case it's not possible I'd like to keep the interview date. I don't mind waiting a little though, since I will be having a lot to take care of before actually moving to the US - but if I have to wait months for a new interview date it's definately a problem...

We actually got to email them to schedule us and they seemed to have been pretty flexible with times/dates.  I think if you email there is a fair chance they will be able to move the appointment.

That sounds promising, I'll email and see what they say.

Hi all,

Today we got an email for the K1 interview at the embassy in Stockholm. Thing is, that the interview is very close to Christmas, and I have already booked a trip to see my fiance to celebrate my 40th birthday, spend Christmas together, and what not. Does anyone have any experience when it comes to requesting a different date for the interview? Everything has gone very smooth for us so I would hate to see anything interfering with things now, but seeing as I've already paid for the ticket to go to the US I would definately want to postpone the interview... if possible.

Hi there!  My Swedish fiance and I have received our second NOA that our I129F has been approved and is being sent to the consulate.  He is planning a trip to visit me over the holidays, but we are concerned about how the interview process works.  Will he receive a specific date/time for the interview at the consulate in Stockholm?  Or will he be given a timeframe in which to set up his own appointment?  Looks like things move pretty quickly with the overall process for Swedes...

Thanks much for any information!
