Hello fellow Nihon filers. Yoroshiku!

We just started the big waiting process, so there's nothing really to report on our progress, and won't for a couple more months. I'm going out there to visit in the middle of September though, and that should help to break up the waiting a bit. Then when I get back, I'm starting construction and adding another room to my house since my family is going to be growing soon, and that will keep me busy while we continue to wait.

Oh, and flavorgreentea, I found this page to be extremely helpful in guiding us through the process of filing our I-129F.

http://www.visajourn...mp;page=k1guide

Ja, mata kondo na!

this journey of ours looks bluer than blue but the only way to break through is to go to to nihon and spend some time with our love ones. my case however, is different than some of the others but sooner later we will be all together (happy.gif)v....

right now my fiancee is getting ready for our dinner and next time i will report for our progress but it seems like there's nothing yet to tell because i just send the I-129f today...

see ya

Hello all nihon filers!!
I am brand new to this site (just joined yesterday... have been reading stuff for the past 24 hours or so. hah).. anyway, just wanted to say hi to everyone. My girlfriend Tomoko and I are actually still in the pre-stages of the process: deciding which route to take...
She was here in Hawaii (flavorgreetea, what part of hawaii you from?!?) for the past 2 years on student visa and we were going out pretty much from the time she got here... then she was going to have to go back soon, but I proposed and she said yes! She is actually back in japan right now, and we are trying to decide if (1)we should do K-1 visa, (2)I should go there and get married, then come back and start K-3 visa, or (3)she should come here on tourist visa and we marry, then she go back and i start K-3 visa... I was thinking that it might be best to do K-1 visa because it looked like the waiting time would be the shortest, but i just noticed that the Japan part of the waiting time for IR-1/CR-1 is actually really short (right now it says 77days average, as opposed to 176-300 for most other countries).... anyway, still trying to figure it out... I asked on a different thread already and got some good responses/explanations, but any one have Japan-specific advice as to which one might be the best way???

never knew anyone here from hawaii... by the way dphyled im from oahu honolulu.

i did all the research and i talked to people who pretty much already experience the process of petition. i gathered all the info and i came out with k-1 fiancee visa, i think this will be the best for my case. today i went to the post office in waikiki and i send the i-129F, i'm hoping there's no problem with all my documents. at this moment there's no backing up now and to my case only time will tell...

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresAngering the embassies / NVCs...
Thank you for the replies! Sorry to hear about your delay Tiberonesuave. Mother nature can be a real......

I totally concur with your statement about leaving the NVC alone so they can do their job, w/o question calls must slow them down. But they request you not call for 90 days! I think that's asking a bit much!

Anyway, I thank you again and wish you all success!

Anyone know how to track the DHL from NH to BKK?

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresAngering the embassies / NVCs...
Hi new here and promise to set-up my timeline (etc.) soon.

The 28th will mark exactly one month since we recieved our NOA2. The notice said my wife was "approved" and that they sent our petition (1-130) to Portsmouth, New Hampshire, where it would then be directed to the proper embassy (Bangkok).

The NOA also states that we should not be bugging them for 90 days. But that's not my nature. I have spent about 20 solid hours reading this (fantastic) forum and see that many people contact both the NVC and the respective embassy ..early and often.

Obviously I would like to call the NVC in Portsmouth and ask them how the heck things are going. But I am afraid to do so. I have this fear that some angry, underpaid staff memeber will answer, get POed and put our petition somewhere undesirable. Am I being paranoid? How would you pose the questions if you were to call?

Again I am very grateful for this forum. It has cost me my weekend...but I think it was time well spent. ;)

BTW, I hired an agency in Thailand to secure this visa. I did not know of forums like this and was pushed to do so (100,000 bt!).

I would appreciate any and all input that anyone can give us related to the timeframe and actually securing this visa. In turn, I will do my best to document our journey and help others when I am able.

Thank you in advance,
Jones

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresCan I abandon K3?
In my exhaustive study of this forum, things can get a bit askewed...especially late-nite, but I thought I read somewhere that if a person has filed both the 129f and 130, and got an interview for the 129 (being the faster), they could contact the embassy and ask that the interview be changed to target the CR1.

Anyone know if this is standard...or did that particular poster just get very lucky?
n2ojonesMaleThailand2007-04-19 20:36:00
K-3 Spouse Visa Process & Procedures129f approved & on the way to the NVC...
Thanks for your attention and opinions,

My wife and I initially applied for both the 130 and the 129f. The 130 was approved and forwarded to the NVC about 6-7 weeks ago. 10 days ago, the 129f was approved and (supposedly) forwarded to the NVC.

Today I received the DS-230 fee bill as well as the go-ahead to complete and send in my 864.

t is my understanding that the 129 should hit the embassy in Bangkok before the 130 and therefore we would like to go that route. BUT...we certainly want to secure the CR1, so if you were in my shoes, would you send the fee bill and complete the 864?

I ask because I know that since we are going the 129f route, we will have more work to do once she lands in the US. Will that "work" involve these same documents..and therefore I might as well submit them now? Or do I run the risk of just losing my $380.00?

I also understand that IF the 130 is complete befoire our interview...we can ask that the 128f interview be performed as a CR1 interview. I just don't know if the 130 will be ready by that time...probably 8-10 weeks from now.

Please help as I can mail the money order tommorow, but not on Sunday.

Thanks in advance!

ChinaHow do I get my parents visit us in US?
QUOTE (Jaywa @ Mar 10 2008, 04:48 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I miss my parents more than 10 years since I married my husband in the US. Now I'm USC, and I would like my parents come to the US to visit us and our kid because I'm so busy with jobs and kid that I don't have time go back to China. What kind of process I need to do and how long it will take? Thanks a lot.

Jaywa

Have they travelled abroad before?
I believe if they apply for tourist visa, they should be fine. They have to explain finances of who pays and so forth but with you already a USC, it will be a lot easier. I highly doubt that they will be rejected for coming to immigrate especially since you are not in process of sponoring them.
youtubeNot TellingChina2008-03-11 00:28:00
ChinaVisiting USA from China
Try contacting the US Embassy

If you are not going to live in the US and your wife is not looking to immigrate, I would think they will give you a tourist visa.

As long as you can show that you have strong interest in China and will not be moving to the US. I think that would be the fastest especially since you are expecting.

If you go the regular visa route, you can forget summer.

We applied end of August and don't expect to get an interview until June, hopefully, fingers crossed.

ChinaWhite slip blues
QUOTE (kraigster @ Apr 17 2008, 01:31 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
My fiance went in for her interview in Guangzhou last week and it was very brief. He asked her my full name then asked her to spell it. She could not spell my last name. She froze. It is a difficult name to pronounce or spell even for Americans. He asked her for photos and we only had about 6. He said it was not enough. How much is enough ? We are not picture people. We took a bunch of pics but we deleted the ones we didn't like which left us with few. I had her prepared for the toughest questions but not the easiest one. 3 strikes and your out. Right now we are both devastated. We have known each other for 1 1/2 years. I have now been to China twice to see her. I had over 200 email letters and phone records and they didn't even want to see them.

As she left the interview room, the vultures (lawyer consultants for P. Pagent) grabbed her by the arm and called me in to discuss what they could do for us. They flashed white slip and blue slip cases before my eyes and showed how they turned them into pink. They wanted $600 to keep the case in Guangzhou and $5000 to get her another chance for an interview. They aim to discredit the VO. After awhile when I said I couldn't afford that kind of money, I was told to marry her in China and apply for a CR1. Only thing is it will be 6 months before I go back to China and another 18 months to approve the CR1. We are talking 2 years. We want to be together now. Is there an easy solution ? Can she get some other kind of visa to come here so we can marry ? She is 35 and we want to have a child and be together, by the time she gets here she will be almost 38 and we will have waited 3 1/2 years. Help !

I have read some of the overcome cases on CFL but have tried to register without any success. Your responses will be appreciated.

Sorry to hear about your results. Did ou get a white slip?
What were the easy questions they asked?
Good luck, keep us posted.

ChinaInternet at home
QUOTE (usagroom @ May 31 2008, 12:29 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
We made this deal. I would get them (her and daughter, both newbies to computers and the web) a laptop if they would get Internet installed in their house.

So I brought an XP-loaded laptop w/webcam etc. to China and today she has the installer setting up the web at her home. HOORAY!

When I brought the laptop I had a Chinese tech fix it up so it was all Chinese language. He even spent about four hours instructing her to use it, Yahoo heavy. MyYahoo Home Page, Messenger, Mail, translator pages, etc.

We have been using Yahoo Messenger via her local web cafe for a while now so she has that experience with voice and cam. When I was there we practised from the hotel room to the lobby.

At last we will be able to spend much more time together via the web. I am so happy that this will be much easier for her. I am also covertly training her about email (heh-heh) so that we will have a more diversified papertrail.

Yes, we still telephone every day but that is about to dramatically drop.

Other more saavy Internetters here may chuckle, but some of us older folks are still implementing this new-fangled web thing. Today, add us to the list of converted! smile.gif

If anyone else would like to add their story of web conversion so we don't appear as freaks, please do so!

One thing you may want to think about is that if you limit your phone calls so as to not have proof that you are in contact with you SO, you may be problems with proof of relationship.

I would use a combination of phone and internet. Yahoo phone out is 1.6 cents per minute

Skype has a deal, buy 2 months at $9.95 per month and get one free up to one year and also has video cam

I don't think there are any statistics but it could be since countries that have a higher rate of visa fraud would get more scrutiny.
You should be close to getting your P-2 any day now. After that it will start to move along.

I'm grappling with the question as to send my fiancee's engagement ring to her in Nanning. Is this something the interviewer in GZ may take notice of? I have apprehensions about sending an expensive piece of jewelry thru the mail. Also, I'd kinda like to give it to her personally. Although it would be nice if she had it to wear before we marry.
Any thoughts?

I want to hear happy endings, people that went through process and now 3 or 4 or 5 years later are still happy and think it was best decision of their lifes.

I am sure in my decision but positive stories would be nice to see, instead of all the negative ones popping up on board.

ChinaElectronic Processing
QUOTE (celiothrkn @ Oct 19 2009, 03:01 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
We are applying for a CR-1 and will be interviewing at US Consulate-Guangzhou.

My wife is from Shandong province, China. She went to high school & college in Japan for a few years, so according to the guidelines we need to obtain a Japanese police certificate (as well as a Chinese police certificate). We can obtain the Japanese police certificate from the nearest Japanese consulate but it comes in a sealed envelope. The "officialness" of the police certificate is broken if we open it.

Since we're doing electronic processing - where all files need to be scanned and sent via email - how do we send sealed official documents to NVC? Open it, scan it anyways and just show the original to the interviewer at US-Consulate Guangzhou? Or should we let the interviewer at US-Consulate Guangzhou open the Japanese police certificate himself?

good question.

I would not open any sealed envelope.

Ask USCIS. I would assume they will have you send it to them.

I would probably have it sent via FEDEX / USPS so you will have a signature. Make sure you have a cover letter indicating what's enclosed to CYA!

Good luck.
