PhilippinesDo I really have to wait 7 days after medical to go to the interview

Well that is not true.  If the medical file is not at the embassy by the time of the interview one can still complete the interview but will have a delay with final approval while the embassy waits to receive and review the medical final.

hi hank! just wanted to make things clear for me..i had my advance medical on october 23-24 but my interview is on dec 19,,is it okay or what is the consequence i may face? thanks in advance :)

PhilippinesPhilippine VISA FEES Changing!
Definitely helps with the crazy amounts of money the entire process takes.

Now to get that elusive NOA2 to speed up...

PhilippinesNOA 2s are over due for December 2011 Filers
It's getting much more difficult to wait the closer it gets to the 5 month point. My fiancee has started having dreams about Hawaii so it should be soon though :D I really don't want to wait until the end of May, I want her here to celebrate my birthday, and to be able to start planning the wedding. Can't really do anything until she gets here and that is frustrating. People will need to make plane/hotel reservations and that can be difficult depending on how many tourists are going to be here.

AAAAUUUGGGHGHH come on CSC start picking up the pace!

PhilippinesFilipina
Good exchange of comments here, but I think the OP also is buying in to a different stereotype. I was extremely fortunate to meet an amazing woman who happens to be from the Philippines. I used to live in the Philippines and love the food, language, people and culture, so it's probably not a big surprise that my fiancee is from there. I constantly get the comments (especially from American women) bad mouthing Asian women in general and Pinay specifically. I am really getting tired of it. Everytime I mention that I'm working on my fiancee's visa they immediately roll their eyes and assume 'mail order bride'. My fiancee gets the same thing ("oh did you meet him on the internet?") they also repeated tell her, that since I didn't marry her in the Philippines, I'm actually lying to her about the visa and are probably sleeping with other women while she pines for me.

There are men who think exactly like you state, and there are women who think like others state (gold diggers, just want green card etc.) Both are wrong and both will never really be happy because of how they use or mistreat others.

The important thing to remember is that there are a lot of very happy couples out there, who have to put up with the comments and bias constantly by others. To assume every man who marries a Filipina is after a submissive sex toy, or every Filipina who marries an American is just in it for money/green card is as racist as the comments you posted.

Philippinespregnancy... and traditions
Some I didn't see in the wiki page were the ones involving how the outside environment can affect what the child looks like (touching a lighter skinned person will give their baby light skin, my ex wouldn't look at the monkeys at the zoo when she was pregnant with my daughter because she didn't want her to look like a monkey...)

PhilippinesDivorced american man now married to filipina
Being excessively jealous is a VERY bad thing for a relationship. But so it being disrespectful of your spouse and not understanding that your actions can be very hurtful to her. Reading your comments does raise some red flags in my mind though, especially due to the possibility of her leaving him for another woman (not a great thing for a man's ego).

I hope things improve, maybe it will just take some time for him to realize what he has now and that he doesn't want to lose somebody who actually loves him.
Shawn CMalePhilippines2012-05-31 19:12:00
PhilippinesWoo hoo!!! NOA2

Biggest worry is IF NVC decides to pull your file for AP...

Nooooooooooo :(

Now another wait for NVC then paperwork, $, paperwork, $, physical, $, clearance, $, CFO, $, interview $, airplane... (L) happiness (L) ...at least the long wait is over and just a short sprint left. ~phew~

PhilippinesBeen there for the Interview!!!
I so wish I could be there for Marife's interview. :(
Shawn CMalePhilippines2012-06-08 12:41:00
PhilippinesHow Long are you Visiting Earth ?
It's not just the Philippines, Scandinavian countries often have fish for breakfast as well. I don't think it's as rare in the US as people think...especially when you are camping and pull that nice trout out of the stream at first light.
Shawn CMalePhilippines2012-06-07 13:47:00
PhilippinesMiddle name
Both of my children (from previous marriage) have their mother's maiden name as their middle name although they only have one first name. Any children Marife and I have will have her maiden name as well.

I've been calling but they are saying 15 business days in the average so I should try next Friday. Hopefully when I call Wednesday she won't remember my voice LOL

PhilippinesOpen Interview dates
Still waiting for NVC to receive our petition and assign a number, but has anybody recently scheduled an interview and know approximately when the closest one is? (ie. all July dates are gone already etc.)

Just curious so we can roughly plan what month(s) we are looking at for a wedding.

mahalo...er....salamat!
Shawn CMalePhilippines2012-06-13 19:13:00
Philippinescooking
During pregnancy everything is off the table. The hormones are kicking their #### so bad they don't understand what is going on either. When my ex was pregnant with my daughter she only liked the smell of tuyo (sp?) (which if you've ever smelled it, you'll know how crazy that is). When she was pregnant with my son we were in Rome and she would ONLY eat spinach and brie sandwiches with the crusts cut off.

Completely not in control by either of you. Outside of the pregnancy part lots can be done. I am very fortunate that I am a good cook and make great Philippine food and other cuisines. My ex loved my cooking and I still think only her pancit is real pancit (much like in the Philippines many only think their mother's pancit is the only real pancit ~LOL).

My fiancee a great cook and her Philippine style spaghetti is simply amazing.

If you have steak you want to cook, try making bisteak. Chicken or pork, make adobo or sinigang or arroz caldo.

I would wait until she gets through this part of the pregnancy (I'm guessing her food cravings are changing as she moves through the trimesters) before becoming too frustrated about this.

PhilippinesUSA or PHL
I was hoping to bring Marife to my reunion outside Rochester MN this August, but it doesn't look like our visa work will be done yet :( (stupid waiting). I will DEFINITELY not take here there in the winter though. My ex and I went there just after arriving in the US for Christmas and she didn't think she was going to live through the cold
Shawn CMalePhilippines2012-06-22 15:37:00
PhilippinesUSA or PHL
But cost of living here in Hawaii is crazy more than living in the Philippines. You're right that it's more similar to the PI than any other state though, especially if you go to Lanai (very quiet, laid back and a lot of Filipinos there from the sugarcane/pineapple days).

PhilippinesInternet Love or not to Love?

You dismissed what a woman actually feels, and poofed this conceited definition into existence so that you could judge others and put them down.

One of the ways you did that was to say that people get married under the pretext of love, but in reality it is just economic security. Since there is no justification for your love on USCIS forms, this accusation about false pretext is a lie. In your conceited world, a woman cannot love a man for rescuing her from poverty. The truth is there's no purer love than that. This is knight-on-a-white-horse Cinderella type love for those of us that have it. :)

So long as it is a fairy tale then poor young Cinderella is allowed to fall in love with the richest man in the Kingdom and live in a castle for the rest of her life. We all root for Cinderealla. But if she is a real human, now her love is not pure. Cinderella is just a ####### and the Prince is exploiting her. What that proves is how envy, jealousy, and crab mentality operate in real life: cut other people down rather than be happy along with them for how thrilled they are in finding the partner they love.

Instead you tell Cinderella how much you pity her living in the castle now and what a creep the Prince is. When someone stands up in the middle of our Cinderella story and drones on like a bore about how our love isn't pure, this is the kind of person we avoid interaction with in our lives. Because this person is always going to be looking for the malicious way to frame things and justify it by saying he is a "realist" with lies and conceited (nonexistent) definitions.

I always new the evil step-sisters were the victims and that evil ####### Cinderella was a scammer...trying to improve her life with somebody who actually loves and respects her...yea right

:jest:

PhilippinesInternet Love or not to Love?
Personally I could never fall in love with somebody online. I have met some people locally that way and chatting with some that said they 'fell in love with me', but I need that eye to eye, body language, pheromones, what ever it is.

I met my fiance while I was on a business trip to HK and later flew to meet her family in the Philippines. I just think people hide too much when it's just online and you don't get to actually spend time with them to see if there is chemistry
Shawn CMalePhilippines2012-06-20 16:39:00
PhilippinesFast track to citizenship
It was citizenship, she took the test, had the interview was sworn in and got her passport the next day

I just looked it up in the USCIS guide (page 20)and there are no residency requirements (other than having a green card) if you are the spouse of a US Citizen if he/she is going to be working abroad for the Gov't for more than a year. So they basically got married, filed the visa, got her green card and immediately got her citizenship. Ironically I could have done this with my ex wife, but when we were doing her paperwork before we were sent abroad she already had her 5 years in the US.
Shawn CMalePhilippines2012-06-22 14:35:00
PhilippinesFast track to citizenship
Talked with a friend of mine (and his wife) the other day who is a Gov't contractor in Manila. He got married, got his wife a visa, AND her citizenship within 11 months doing it all at the US Embassy. Evidently there is a clause that allows this but it doesn't mean I didn't want to punch him in the nose, after going (and continue to go) through all the BS I have to just to get married  :protest: :ranting:

They may be fast approving petitions now (although they weren't for ours) but they $#@& at getting them to NVC. It took four weeks for ours, I received notification today that NVC finally got it...now I just need that lucky number

PhilippinesLeft by the Ship
Not to belittle the plight of the Amerasian children in the Philippines (I know when I was stationed there almost every sailor on my ship provided money to the Pearl S Buck Association because we knew of this issue), but don't forget that there are many unwed mothers and children without fathers/support right here in the US also.

PhilippinesCFO announcement and new Schedules
This is confusing the %$^ out of me for some reason. One place says the counselling (and interview?) is done at CFO office (where you pick up the sticker now) and no longer done at PRISM and SMEF-COW after July 16th, then states SMEF-COW is still going to still do it until Sep. It also states only 12 people a day for US then later says 70 people a day...

I am sure the OP is correct in the information but I'm completely confused with regard to what, where and when has to be done so my fiancee has checked all of the boxes.

I don't mean to complain, but my brain is burned out from trying to explain the entire process (foreign police clearance, medical, CFO and interview) over the phone with a bad connection lately.

PhilippinesFinally coming to the USA

Fiancee is allowed to fly on a MAC out of Phils to Hawaii? Typically out of here they are chartered using major airlines and I wouldn't think thats possible, just asking?

Congratulations to both of you!

I have a friend who just went over to fly back with his wife, but they are coming here to Hawaii so will probably take Hawaiian Airlines or Philipppines Airlines (or MAC since he is military).

PhilippinesFilipino
Initially planned to do it while she was there for medical but it didn't work out. Hoping the Gov't office will be less grumpy during the seminar since she will already have her visa and plane ticket and will listen politely during all of the training :innocent: :D
Shawn CMalePhilippines2012-07-13 14:30:00

With the new change (no PRISM) is there any comparison between the Gov't CFO seminar and the one still (until Aug) done at SMEF-COW? I'm hoping the Gov't office will be less grumpy.

Also our current plan is to complete both the seminar and the registration on the day before the flight is scheduled, is it that big of a risk to do at the Gov't office? I am trying to reduce the number of trips to Manila.

PhilippinesYAY !! finally, interview scheduled

congratulation.. :) I wonder how she scheduled her appointment? I was trying to make my schedule for appointment but the available slot for this month are on the 17th and 18th which is impossible for me and the next available is on the 24th of august.. It's too far from now.. :(

Sorry Kathy, we took the 19th slot. Now if HK will rush the police clearance, she might be able to fly out this month!!!!

PhilippinesLess and Less Communication

Ummm, wrong again, Kimosabe. Some of us met in person, and CHOSE to marry someone from a different country, but by no means did we HAVE to. I chose to because I know several Filipinas, and loved what I see in their personalities, culture, and devotion to their men. Far better than what I have experienced in other cultures, including my own Kano one.

Far from "had to go half way around the world", I (and I probably speak for many on here) CHOSE to do it. Please do not project your own situation/circumstances onto the rest of us. Say "I" vs. "everyone".

I wasn't looking for a relationship when I met Marife, I was on a business trip to Hong Kong and happen to meet her at a restaurant. The LAST thing I was looking for was to fall in love with somebody half way around the world and to be forced into the frustrating world of the Homeland Security and State Departments.

I live in Waikiki Hawaii and somehow, I don't have to have sex with every beautiful woman on the beach. If somebody can't be faithful after they are engaged there is 0% chance they will be after 5, 10, 15 years (or even during the first year).
