PhilippinesFiance is 23--do we need to notarize or even have parent consent?
Or do you mean it's for the interview, but not for the initial petition?

Oh, ok! Thanks! I appreciate it! It's not necessary to notarize it until the interview.

Salamat!

PhilippinesFiance is 23--do we need to notarize or even have parent consent?
I'm so new at this. . . what is CFO? I thought there would be a link to terminology here, but I can't find it.

Should I get the parent signature notarized? Where does one get that in the Phils? In the US it's easy (bank, etc.).

PhilippinesFiance is 23--do we need to notarize or even have parent consent?
I'm in the US, and my fiance is 23. I downloaded the parent approval/consent form, because in Philippine law she is under 25 and needs parent consent/approval. However, since we're planning on marrying in the US, is this even necessary? And does she need to get it notarized? Could we get it signed, but not notarized, or will that mean a delay?

Thanks for all your help, in advance.

PhilippinesFinally Approved!!!
Me, too. I'm in Lahaina, Maui, and I'm just waiting for my fiance's forms to arrive so I can file the I-129f.

PhilippinesPOE Guam
I feel for you if you caught the old Continental route (bought by United). I flew on Continental from MNL to Honolulu (actually Maui) several years ago, and it was the longest time I've spent traveling. We stopped in Guam, several small Micronesian islands, and included disembarking with luggage, waiting in several holding areas, reboarding, and even having difficulty getting original seats with your original ticket. All in all, travel time from Manila to Honolulu (then a few hours for Maui) was over 26 hours.

Hope this doesn't happen to your fiance! Since then I've checked carefully to find the time of layovers and total time in transit.

Hope I can help you prevent a downer!

PhilippinesThis has to be the most unbearable part of the process...
Awesome! Your success gives me hope! I'm so happy for you both! It's funny. . . I don't even know you guys, but knowing you've all been going through the same things, and feeling like we're all rooting for one another. . . well, it just feels like family around here. Thanks VJ!

Congratz!

PhilippinesFastest Method to send Documents
I used USPS; around $30 from Hawaii to Zambales, and it took 5-6 days to send a packet of about 15 papers and mixed cards and pics. I labeled it as documents and valued at $30. Even included 1000 +pesos in it, for the passport pics, and my fiance received every peso. Not a problem.

Sounds like FedEx is even faster though!
kambingasoMalePhilippines2012-10-25 20:59:00
PhilippinesWhich option?
On Hawaiian, the last two round trip flights, they supplied adaptors for your mp3 earbuds/headphones to fit into the passenger seat dual-input so I could watch the movies/listen to music. In the packet they also provided sleep blinders! It's a 10+ hour flight from MNL to HNL. What route is ANA taking? MNL to Tokyo then SFO?

PhilippinesLeaving on a Jet Plane!
That's exactly what I did last month! I did everything except to make sure my fiance has extra copies of her BC. I just read about that a few days ago, so great idea! Just before I made my engagement "speech" I had asked my fiance's brother to hand me the ring I had kept secret, just to get more of her family involved in the plot--heh heh!

Good luck to you both! Hope we all receive our NOA2's soon!

PhilippinesGot An Early Interview Date!
That's so great! I hope you don't have any delays! May God bless you and the rest of us who are still beginning the process. It's makes me so happy and hopeful to read about others moving along toward their dreams!

Is Guam really the POE and not just a layover?

PhilippinesBooking a flight
Some airlines offer Traveler's Insurance so you can skip the penalty if there's a change within reason. Upon purchase this could be a good thing to add to your total cost, but if it's after the fact then sorry if this is too late.

PhilippinesDoes St. Luke's only accepts Visa apllicants for medical check up?
Maybe it's a good idea to get checked at your regular or local doctor and x-rayed to check out potential problems.

I got x-rayed in Siargao--it was like a jungle hospital--after a motorcycle accident, and I had to ask them to put a covering over my body so I wouldn't go sterile--makes you wonder about these places!

PhilippinesAirfare from MNL (last minute)
Make sure to check for the duration of the entire flight! Continental used to fly from MNL, but stopped in Guam, and every little island in Micronesia--a total of 26 hours just to get to Hawaii. United has since taken over Continental. . . . hope that helps. I will NEVER forget that insane flight! Worst of my life.

PhilippinesAvailable Interview dates for May and June

@Ronn:  I got my NOA2 the day before you, and I emailed NVC twice.  AFter work yesterday I thought I'd try calling, and 2 minutes later I got a live body.  I gave her my info, and another minute later she gave me our MNL #!  Maybe you got yours already.  Just call!  Is BPI closed anyway?  I was nervous about calling, because I could never get anyone at USCIS, so I thought it would be just like that, but it pleasantly was not.

GOD luck!

PhilippinesTaxi from Malolos Bulacan to Ermita

See if you can have a driver from Lotus Garden pick her up.  I had extreme difficulty getting out of Malolos a few years back.  I had to take a bus to another town and then 4 jeepneys to get to Pampanga.

kambingasoMalePhilippines2013-05-04 16:30:00
PhilippinesHow long for Manila embassy to receive the case from NVC? And anything i've forgotten to do?

The DS-157 as well?   My fiancee went to pay the visa at BPI, but they turned away because they requested THREE copies!  What is up with that?

Sounds like you're well on your way.  I hope all the players involved in this Visa-dance had good days, and don't hold us all up!  heh heh!

kambingasoMalePhilippines2013-05-09 02:08:00
PhilippinesAcitivity suggestions in/around Ermita area

Beware of the horse & buggy rides--they will quote you a low price, and then casually tell you about a palace or structure worth seeing, and you won't realize they are adding it to your itinerary.  Eventually your 200 peso ride becomes 1500 each or something ridiculous.  Just say no.

However, all the other things sound great!  I would also visit some places nearby so your fiancee  can easily get meals and sundry items close to the hotel, since she will be there alone for the interview (I'm assuming it's the interview portion?).  Good luck, and hope to read about smooth things went!dancin5hr.gif

kambingasoMalePhilippines2013-05-13 21:14:00
PhilippinesMalate or Ermita

That's right.  And when you book directly let them know your flight info, and they can arrange your pick-up.  We're staying at the Southern Cross in Ermita, and we can take the shuttle to Subic when we're done with out medical.  We'll return for the interview, and then return again, hopefully, so my fiancee can pack!  Woohoo!

Good luck to you.  Sounds like you're getting ready for the medical or interview as well.

PhilippinesHad to postpone USEM interview in June; now it's so hard to reeked!

We had our interview originally scheduled for June 10, but then my fiancee got sick, and then her mom got sick, and then I got sick.  It was the weekend, and I couldn't reach the USEM people.  Got a hold of someone the morning of, and asked to reschedule online.  I was told it would be no problem.  Later, when I tried to resked online, it wouldn't allow me to enter our BPI receipt number to show payment!

Upon emailing, the reply said our case was "closed!"  #######!  When time ran out, I had to return to the US, and I rec'd a reply that said I had to send a JPEG of our BPI payment.  After we had done that, I rec'd an email to call.

After spending days calling, I was told to wait for my fiancee's Letter of Eligibility.  After verifying that she rec'd it, I was told to wait for an email response.

So here we sit just waiting.  We need to schedule our interview to get our medical, etc.   Just a holding pattern.  Anyone with suggestions?

By the way, the title should say, "resked"--damn you, auto correct!

PhilippinesOnline matchmaking to be criminalized under proposed bill

Damn you, Alec Baldwin!  heh heh!  I think this affects "matchmaking" sites and arrangers--not necessarily online dating sites. I think there's a difference.

PhilippinesCan someone enlighten me.

My fiancee got in line around 4am, and a little while later she remarked that there were around 500 people!  Is that possible? A little hyperbole?  She got caught in the rain and had to buy an umbrella from some enterprising salesman.  I'm hoping she got in and will be approved.  I wish us all luck and God bless!

Couple hours ago got "Arrival Olongapo City" and then "Out for Delivery," so I'm hoping sometime today my fiancee will get her visa!  I can picture her screaming and lots of neighbors checking on her.  So close!  Don't mean to hijack this thread, but . . . . I'm human.  I think.
