I hope everyone else in our April filers get a fast process like Nan and I got! Best of luck for all of you, I will have Nan say a few prayers for the group, because whatever she did worked!

I think you're kidding yourself to be expecting anything in the mail right now.. LOL Really. Not trying to be negative or dash your hopes, but the constant checking, and waiting, and verifying timelines is honestly going to make this period in the process 100x worse.

Yeah, I know... I just haven't seen a case only sit for a month, then get touched, then sit for a long time again. Most of the time, after a case has been entered, you see your "last update" date a couple days from your NOA1 date. then nothing again, unless they are about to process... which usually means either an RFE or NOA2. Am I wrong?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsApril 2009 K-1 Filers
So quick update to my case... I got orders to deploy in Aug... Neat, just when I thought our case would be approved at CSC. SO I called the military help line the other day, and after a few questions they put me through to a case officer at CSC... All fine and dandy, he asks me the same questions again, says he needs my email address, and he will email me with more details on what i need to submit to get my expedite. Awesome I think... So two days pass with no email.. okay no prob, I call them up today, and they had the wrong email address. So I ask the simple question of cane we fix this, so I can get you the info you need for our expedite? Ha! seems that is not an option, apparently once it is in the computer they can not modify the case content (????) ... so somewhere someone has an email I need... I tried to email the address they sent it to but no luck (it seems it is non existent.) So I asked the next best question... what did the email say? Seems that is to hard for them to figure out as well. She said my expedite request would most likely be denied if I did not give them what they asked for, and I could re-apply for expedite 60 days after that.... Awesome I said. I then asked how would I know when they deny it? She said and I quote "we will send you an email sir" I almost lost it. Good thing my cell phone has a rubber case on it...

So here I sit knowing that I might be able to see my wife here before I deploy, but then again, USCIS CSC rocks so much that that will never happen.

And for those of you who ask why would I want her to be here when I am not here... I want here to get on my benefits, and be taken care of... And she would be with my parents, who I think may love her more than they love me.

So does anyone happen to know the fax number to CSC so I can fax them my evidence? (The original guy who generated my request with the wrong email said I would get a fax number and be able to fax the documents to them, I had read something to the same effect before, but apparently no one else who answers the phones at CSC knows of this mythical fax number...)

ughhhh!

I've had good luck with Continental... got my last ticket for $550 round trip

I always fly with Continental, there by far my favourite!

However a return fare from London to Alaska is £822 and a return fare from Alaska to London is around $1024... It's so tempting to go as soon as I get paid but I need to save money for rent for when I move wacko.gif

Flying out of AK is always an expensive endeavor. I just booked a ticket the other day to get to BKK, and that was more than double your round trip to the UK. Oh well, it is all worth it in the end. Two weeks hanging with the fam will be a nice break from the last month of business travel... Man I can not wait for next saturday to come!

Anyone else get an NOA 1 yet? CSC is really slacking these days. sad.gif I wonder what is going on down there?

Did you get a tracking number for your USPS package? I did not even bother with a return reciept, because anything sent via express, has to be signed for (unless you decline a signature.) It has a tracking number assigned to it, and you can check it on the web...

I am sure they recieved it, they are most likely sitting on it, just like mine... I really hope to see some action tomorrow though.

It's also annoying that I won't be able to check the snail mail for NOA 1 or 2, since both my fiance and I are in Australia right now. Guess I just have to count on my parents to tell me ASAP if they receive anything!

Anyway, good luck to all of us April filers and to anyone else still waiting!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresK-1 petition and expedite @ CSC
Hello, I am active duty military stationed in Alaska. I am in a highly mobile position, so I can deploy at any time. I am using Brian Wright in Thailand to help me through the process. In two weeks he has gathered all required documents/info, and they are on there way to me now. (fed ex says they are in china at the moment) Some may say a visa Lawyer (if you can call them that) is not worth it, but to explain the process and get the info I need from my fiancee (Naan) is sometimes a bit rough. My thai is not the best yet, and her English is not the best yet either. So Brian's office has, in my opinion, been invaluable so far.

My biggest questions to date are what is the deal with CSC? I hear stories of couples getting in and out service from them, and others who have waited for a substantial amount of time with nothing. I know I will have no problem getting an expedite. Is there anyone else out there with the same scenario? Or anyone who has a thai fiancee at all? And what was your experience with CSC?

As far as making it to an interview, I am a bit worried about proof of ongoing relationship. Naan has no internet access, and we just text, and phone (she calls me and hangs up, I give her the call back.) I am worried they will not be happy with that, But I speak enough thai to get by, and it is just easier than email, or chat. Also, will they get bitter if our text messages are in thai?

Ha, I think I am a bit paranoid, but who doesn't worry when the fate of their love rests in too many other peoples hands...

we only have a month a half left. (he will be deployed on the 3rd week of june)

is it possible that our petition be expedite? (does it really works?)

please help.. we want to see each other n get married before he will be deployed...this is something we didnt expect.. he didnt have any idea that he will be deployed this june....

thank you

You need him to call the Military help line @ 1 800 247 4645 and follow the prompts. They will need a copy of his orders and ID card... Average approval times for expadite are 5-7 days, and after expedite approval 30-40 days for NOA2.

You will still have to wait regular time frames for NVC and Embassy, so I am not sure if you will be able to get an interview before your SO deploys... I wish you both the best of luck.

QUOTE (dhyatt @ May 29 2009, 04:14 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
A friend of mine whom is doing the same thing I am doing ( trying to get my fiance to the US to get married ) found this website. http://www.filipinaf...a.com/index.htm I was just wondering if anyone has done this and has had experience with this service. If so, is this all legit and does it work ??

I retained a firm before I understood the process. After going through VJ and looking at all the info here, I wish I had kept my money. Sometimes I think I know more about the visa process than my lawyer does. A lot of visa services are not even law firms... Simply companies who understand the visa process and can help guide you in the process... I have not had any real trouble from my firm, but I have heard other people say that a lawyer held them up in the process.

On the other hand if your friend has a complex case that requires waivers and/or a specialized case, a lawyer may be for them. Some people like to be helped and some people are independent...

Best of luck to you and your friend

Has anyone requested this and had it work? Right now I'm deployed to Afghanistan and already have an I-129F pending. I called the service center to request it and they set me a letter asking for some proof of why I should be granted an expedited case. I'm gonna send them a copy of my orders that state I'm deployed and is signed by my commanding officer. Is this enough to satisfy them? Or what else do I need to include to have them expedite it?

To answer your question in the most simple form. Yes. You will need to furnish your orders, and a letter explaining why your case should be expedited, i.e. tri-care benefits enrollment, family care plans etc. If you have any further questions PM me and I will be more than happy to answer them.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresmilitary w-2's & K-1 interveiw
QUOTE (tbaygrrl @ May 28 2009, 10:02 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I was told to have my fiance's w-2's for the k-1 interview at the consulate. My question is,

he is military and has been deployed a couple times over the last few years, so his pay appears as combat pay in a completely different and obscure area on the w-2's, (as it is tax free earnings)

So when someone looks at them and they see like 7000 gross income where most people enter theirs, they fail to see the that there is an additional large income under combat pay elsewhere on the form and assume he is well under the poverty guidelines even though he earns above it.

How can I explain this or point this out at the consulate?? ( as I know that when we file for AOS this will be an issue too.)

tbaygrrl-

I am military as well and I am in the same boat, I would not worry too much about this, as most CO's know the military stipulation to 100% instead of 125% and many are versed on how to read a W-2. I understand what you are saying about the income appearing in a different box on the W-2 as other non-taxable, but you should have no problems if you provide his 1040's as primary evidence. I would also provide a couple of his most current LES statements, as they do have a section labeled "Earnings YTD." And as D_n_M said highlighting is also good Idea.

It is not all "combat pay" by the way. It is his regular Base pay, but is is non-taxable in a combat zone... vice the amount being so large in Block 12 on his W-2 with a "Q" code prefix.I would highlight this and the Q code on the reverse of the W-2...

All quite here... Almost too quite.

Well, I got a quick question. After looking at the last few couples timelines that have received and interview date lately, I have seen this trend. 10-14 days after packet three submission the interview date is received. The interview date has been roughly 30 days from the date of notification of interview. Is this a safe assumption, or are there some goofy numbers floating around out there from the last two months? Spill the knowledge if you've got it.

Just trying to forecast my holiday time around Nan's possible interview date. I hope to be there for it and then at least a week after just in case. Any words of wisdom are appreciated.

Hope everyone has had a good weekend.

kicking.gif We got our K1 Visa!!! kicking.gif

But I wanted to share our interview experience. (I posted this to the embassy review section.) It was not easy but I figure that my job in visa journey is to have all the combined problems s***piled on me so others can have an easy route. Check out my USCIS delays as proof.

Vicky (fiancee) supplied originals of passport, Birth certificate, ID card, house ID, name changes, and huge pile of proof of evidence to Thai embassy workers and was eventully interviewed by the young blonde lady on Wed am July 15.

Interview questions were initially easy. Where did you meet?, when?, how many times I visited? and then they started in on a really strange tangent and they asked for more information. 1) documents for name change after a divorce and before the new Thai ID card was re-issued with her previous maiden name. 2) Documents for my divorce.

Problem: 1)Thai National ID card name changes after divorce from married name back to maiden name can happen without std forms and receipts and thus are not available. 2) I was never married! and thus I can't supply divorce papers! Amazing.

They gave us back our supplied documents above and a white slip of paper stating the problems above (form 221) and said to come back next Monday between 1 and 3pm with these documents in order to receive an OK for the Visa.

Big Note: you don't have to necessarily wait for the next Monday or Wednesday. It is possible to go back on ANY Monday or Wednesday from 1 to 3 pm to resolve problems with paperwork. Form 221 states this also. Also Note: the original interview is with the Thai fiancee only...BUT follow up interview with the further proof required from 221 can be with BOTH BF/GF or Hsb/Wife. This can be a big help with these instances considering language and tag-team efforts.

I/we are very happy that we returned that same day instead of waiting for the next week. I really think that my stares of disbelief and stern furrowing of the brow helped convince them that they were crazy in assuming that I was married. In their defense I can say that their logic was: you have children, you are 48 yrs old, therefore you must have been married, right? They also said that I had a passport application somewhere in my history where I listed a spouce...however they could not and would not show me what the hell that was all about?!! Sounded like a poker bluff to me. Eventually I was able to sign a piece of paper in their presence that stated that I was not nor have I ever been married before and that made it all OK.

Again I don't think that if I hadn't been there, it would have been able to be resolved...at least not for a few weeks and without possible legal intervention.

Overall I think that the BKK interview system is slipshod at best. Maybe they deny or request additional info in order to discover fraudulent cases...ie. bogus cases will drop out under extra scrutiny. (But in my case the extra scrutiny was bogus.) wacko.gif

I think that approx 16 interviews were scheduled on Wednesday morning. By early am 3 girls were absolutely denied...questions were asked but no figerprints and no request for extra info. We saw 3 girls who made it through the interview but recieved form 221 for more paperwork. And finally on the next Friday when approved K1/K3 visa were handed out @ 3pm, there were only 6 girls with visas. My fiancee was one of these 6! :kicking:

PS. I'm on a crappy laptop and may only have a few chances to respond to other questions until I get back to US on Sunday...but I'd be happy to do so if others are interested in the screwy BKK interview routine. good.gif

Congrats John! kicking.gif

Sounds odd with all the extra questioning. But at least you got it sorted quick. Do you know why the other 3 girls were denied?

I brought one small suitcase for me, and 2 large suitcases (one inside the other) for her. She also had one of her own that she used. Most airlines seem to allow 2 bags per ticket for international travel. Also, you could probably just buy suitcases for her in Thailand without spending too much money. Good luck.

One more step done (Almost). We had our AOS interview today. Went fine except the file from the Bangkok embassy from the K1 has not made it here yet. The officer said he requested the file and it should take a week, and then we should get a letter in two weeks with the approval. Apparently his last thai case a few months ago, he had the same problem, they never sent the paperwork from Bangkok.

Progress..

Great posts about where to score some good cookware etc. Nan wants to take her cook stuff with her, but I am afraid with all her shoes, clothes, and everything else, there will not be any room... I hope we can find some stuff local on oahu in sept/oct. Anyone else with a thai wife down in HI?

Neil

Pots, pans, and whatnot will be OK. Probably a waste of time to bring a rice cooker or water heater as they most likely will be the wrong voltage (220 vs. 110).

Yeah I already have a huge rice cooker, mostly think her mortar pestle set, and pots and pans will just be too heavy/big for luggage. What did you guys do that already brought your wives to the states? I was planning on bringing a large empty suitcase so we can fit more of her stuff. I travel pretty light, but we will be moving Nan out of her apartment... Lots o' stuff

Also Nans medical cost 10320 baht! is that even possible?!

Ours was 12,600. So yes it is possible. Most likely she is under 27 and had to have the HPV shot which was around 5000 baht just for that shot.

Thanks AaronLV makes me feel a bit better to know that.

I just saw here record and yes she had a total of 7 shots with HPV being one of them.

So now I am just wondering about this police report money. Nan said she gave it directly to a man at the station, and within 10 minutes they had the required documents and were out the door. She said they gave her two original stamped copies as well. I am wondering if she did not have a clean record to begin with... She only told me once, a while back that she got in trouble when she was very young (14 I believe.) But She would not tell me for what, and I didn't press it. She is very anti-drinking and smoking, so it is hard to believe it was drugs or something of the like...

quick question. After a search of the thread I see no mention so I assume the police report is free. is that a correct assumption. Also Nans medical cost 10320 baht! is that even possible?! Then one of the "paralegals" got on the phone and told me that the police report would be 9500 and would be ready on monday. I thought it took two weeks and was free. Any words are welcome... I feel like we are being taken for a ride here... Nan is aggravated because the "paralegal" with the visa service keeps telling her conflicting things everytime they speak. I just want this process to be over already.
