Yeah but you live on the West Coast.. PAL really needs to do a direct flight into JFK instead of just LAX/LAS.. For me to get to LAX would be just a nightmare, so Milagros is coming in via Delta to JFK. I really wish she should have just come in via a direct flight, but it's not possible. Living in CT, there aren't any real direct International flights so it's 2.5 hours for me to drive down to JFK to fetch her and then of course the 2.5 hours drive back. She's going to be so tired and yet so excited at the same time..

Korean airlines is pretty good as is Asiana.. I'm flying Asiana out of JFK in less than 2 weeks.. The nice thing that I really like is the video monitors at every seat.

I don't think you'll get cheaper than Delta down to Atlanta, but how about checking out www.skyscanner.com and browse different options?

PhilippinesWhat is happening???
I completely understand.. I'm going to visit Milagros next week, and I'm already dreading leaving her again for the 60 days before she comes here for good.. She started crying in HK back in January and it just brought me to tears in the middle of the airport.. It's not easy, but soon it will all be over..

Good Luck & God Bless!!!

PhilippinesWhat is happening???
I'm looking at your timeline... It's about 10-14 days from the day NVC sends it to when it's actually in their system.. They're even running a bit slower now than before.. So maybe 26-April it should be entered.. (but you can of course keep calling)

Good Luck!

Once you call the NVC and get the MNL case # you are done with them... You now have to start calling the US Embassy in Manila and provide them with that case #...

PhilippinesFlying domestic in the US without green card

Before she received her green card, my wife always carried around her Social Security card, her passport, her state ID card, and an official copy of our marriage certificate. If they sent us a NOA for our AOS, she carried that too. We wanted to play it safe.

LOL this sounds like what Milagros would do too.. In her cute little yellow binder..

Jared, we spent 3 days in Bohol at this place called Alona Studios. http://www.panglao.se/ It was a bit more of a distance from Alona Studios to the Alona Beach than the website said (5-min...no way). But I had to find a place that had a kitchen (coz Wilma's mom wanted to cook for us to save a lil money) and we need to have room for 5 to sleep. We got a 2-room apartment for $65/day and the place was nice and clean and the owner is from Sweden. The don't have restaurant on site, which is a little problem unless you are comfy driving a scooter (they rent them for 300p/day) to one of the many nearby restaurants. But Wilma and I took a walk one night to Alona beach (about 20 min walk eventhough they said 5 min) and there had some really nice looking (romantic) places on the beach. If we didn't have her brother, her mother and her first cousin with us, I think having dinner overlooking the beach at one of the many restaurants there would have been very romantic. I think one of those hotels with an ocean view would have also been more romantic. But we were making big points with mom :) Wilma still loved Alona Studios and didn't want to leave coz it was quiet and things in Cebu are always noisy.

Another thing for romance I think would be the Loboc river dinner cruise at night. We did it for lunch but while we were there I realized they also do the cruise at night. Might be romantic if not too crowded.

We did Chocolate Hills, Tasiers, big snake, Loboc buffet cruise, man made forest (this was a big let down)....and the Church, the compact signing. All very cool stuff .... and we had moments to remember forever.

Good luck, I liked Bohol.... got engaged there!

Johnny cheers for all this.. I'm not 100% sold on the location, but I do like the Loboc river dinner cruise at night, that sounds just perfect.. We're definitely doing the Chocolate Hills, Tarsiers, Big Snake, Church, etc.. I like the idea though of renting the motorbike

Bohol was pretty cool, take some time and go check out Camiguin Island. It is so much better, and cleaner and cheaper and the beaches are much better. Very secluded, very clean, plenty of white sands, hot springs, cold springs, soda springs and active volcanos.

I've got a dumb Fargo question.. How do you get to Camiguin Island from Tagbilaran City? Are there super fast boats? Doesn't appear to be any sort of flights..

Thanks again!

I've been so focused on Milagros getting her medical and interview that I've completely lost sight of the fact that I'm leaving for Phil in less than 2 weeks and we really don't have anything planned.

I'm flying into Manila a week from Friday, we're crashing there for the night in the Intercontinental and then leaving the next day to fly into TAG. From there, it's all pretty much open for 3+ days of fun in Bohol, but I haven't got a clue where to go and/or stay..

Lonely Planet gave the Chriscent Ville Hotel pretty good marks: http://www.chriscentville.com/cville/ and it's really cheap.. We are tourists for this trip, so we're going for the tarsiers and chocolate covered mountains.. But what else? Is there an all day touristy thing we can do that'll take us to all the hot spots? Any romantic nighttime things to see? We're not divers (she can't really swim) but hanging on the beach is fun..

Are there better places to stay? Things to do?

Salamat for any advice you can provide..

I hope one day I get to own just a tiny piece land in the Philippines.. 20cm x 20cm for all the money I've donated through the "because he's a kano fund"

No you get like 2 (or maybe it's 3) calls using that pin..

But also there's the direct line that the USC can call: 011-63-2-301-2000 extension 5184 or 5185. Then you just pay the long distance and not the $18... But I think for actually scheduling the interview they want you to pay the $18...

Can someone correct me if I'm wrong?

I think they might be misleading you.. The I-134 does not need to be notarized.. You just need your hubby's financial documents, tax transcripts and some backup material just in case.. Bank statements, paycheck stubs, etc.

PhilippinesNOA2 received
AP is additional processing, I think they're giving the application one more look-over before it's shipped to Manila.. You can call the NVC to find out your status:

Call the NVC in a day or so to find out your NVC Case #... 603-334-0700

K-1s are not entered into their automated response system.

So when calling, press 2 (for non-Haiti related case), 1 for English, 5 for an operator. Then you will be placed on hold.

Have your EAC/WAC number ready. Your beneficiary's DOB and name, and your DOB and name. Emails for both and your phone #.

After that it'll be 2 weeks and then you can call the embassy and schedule the interview. Congrats, almost there!

PhilippinesSending 1-129 Packet

Oh ya got me.....

After USPS lost Wilma's bday gifts, I had no problems paying extra money for a dependable carrier. After all, it's not like we send these K1-Visa original documents everyday.... really,, this is not the right time to save a penny when vital records are at stake.

Yeah I don't bother with the USPS unless it's for non-essentials.. I've sent some books and etc, but it's much easier to just wait and mule it when I can.. Spending the extra for FedEx was a no brainer for the K1 docs..

I beat you by $6....I paid $87 to Fedex for all of Wilma's docs for her interview...

Plus then the $8 I spent on dinner at Panera Bread since it's right next to the FedEx/Kinkos store..

PhilippinesFilipino Internet Cafes

there certainly is scanners in most cafe in Philippines. With regards of sending regular mail, it may take longer before you receive it..maybe a month. With me and my husband before, we sent important documents through FedEx. I tried sending cards from Cebu, Philippines to US through LBC courier, it was 1,000 Pesos and if I remember it right, it was a 5-8 business days with tracking# and this was way back 2005. Not sure anymore how much would it cost right now.

Goodluck :)

Hi Jared! Milagros looks familiar. I remember now that she's the girl I talked to that day, we just didn't talk much cuz I was called to Window 20 for my pre-screener interview. My schedule was earlier than hers.
Congrats to both of you!

Congrats Jared and May!! So is she coming back with you on your next trip?

Nice pic with the Visa in your sig..

Thanks Johnny.... I'm going to be the bad hubby and try to convince her to fly back home with me in May.

The only thing that's keeping her in country is the Nursing boards in July.. But it seems that even if she takes the nursing boards she still has to take both the CGFNS & NCLEX exams. The process for CGFNS will do a check of her courses, and I think if she just explains that she abandoned the exam because of wedding/moving/etc it should be ok..

She's thinking about it all today.. And i'm sure pretty tempted since the visa is in hand.. I hope she decides to come back, it will be so much better to fly back together..

PS - thanks.. I took a screenshot of her this morning showing off the visa

Milagros received hers too... She's kind of upset that she can't open the package..

I don't know this or not, but it looks like her passport is inside plastic along with a brown envelope. You have to leave that all alone right? I told her just to leave it be.. She wants to see her passport.. Can she remove the plastic or does that also open the envelope?
