PhilippinesCebu over Easter

Marco polo has some live music in the lobby lounge at night that's ok. My fiancée likes live relaxing music. There's a bar there but we didn't go in. We also took a taxi to the water front hotel a few nights and sat in the lounge / cafe where they also had some live music. She liked that a lot. The waterfront hotel has a casino upstairs but we didn't go in. We just listened to music and enjoyed our dessert there after dinner.

I love the Marco Polo in Davao City. (even though I know we're talking about Cebu).

I'm counting down the days until I go again..

PhilippinesGetting married in Vegas
I'm just curious for the other couples out there.. I'd like to do something special for Milagros since her family can't come.. We're going to have the whole online video site, but I'd also like to surprise her with some touches from home.. Is there a special dinner that I can have prepared for her, flowers shipped in, etc? Anything to make my sweetheart's day a little more memorable..

Salamat po.

PhilippinesK 1 Visa
I'm with George on this one, I don't think it's necessary to go to the interview. My Milagros is tough stuff, and she can handle a simple interview.. It would be too expensive, and I don't have enough vacation days to be present for the interview.. If you've got the time & money, go for it.. Otherwise put the money aside that you would have spent and let her go on a shopping spree when she gets here.

PhilippinesYou're lucky to have him

An interesting question for the American husbands would be, which would you rather have? A wife who sends financial support to her poor family back home or a high maintenance wife who spends megabuck$ on clothe$, shoe$, manicure/pedicure, jewelries, accessories, dining, etc. etc.

I'd prefer the former.. But knowing my sweetheart, it will be both. . Oh well, I'd rather be happy and broke any day of the week..

What did the Beatles sing? All you need is love..

PhilippinesYou're lucky to have him

You also chose to marry a Pinay, therefor you should have the knowledge that it's part of their culture to help their families even after marriage.

I'm not going to throw eggs, I agree with a lot of what's in this post except for this one line... I didn't choose, my heart did..

PhilippinesPhilippine Air - Nonstop?
Hehe.. I spent 4 hours there so I could get my passport stamped to re-enter China... Long story. But I did like the little electronics shop they had there, and the Red Carpet club was nice. It was refreshing to browse non-Chinese Government filtered Internet for a few hours before I went back for another week of fun.

:bonk:
Jared and MayMalePhilippines2010-03-17 16:24:00
PhilippinesPhilippine Air - Nonstop?

Yeah...actually it flies against the jet stream going to MNL which gives it strong headwind and of course it uses more fuel. The stop in Guam is just for fuel....it's not long. The flight from MNL to LAX is non-stop. I've done the Delta from MNL to NRT to LAX....that's not bad...except NRT sucks. Feels like you're in a cattle pen.....

Shhhhh... Don't tell my fiancee that NRT sucks.. I've got her coming that route to NYC on Delta.. She's hoping to do a little window shopping at some of the cute Japanese stores.

PhilippinesPhilippine Airlines, Manila to LAX

I would stand by PAL's Policy! over anyone(s) recommendation(s), period.

Which is below.... So again, follow what I said.

Important Notice
To avoid fraudulent transactions and to protect credit card owners, PAL reserves the right to require that the credit card used in purchasing the ticket(s) online be presented at the ticket collection point, upon check-in or in cases of reissuance, rebooking or refund of a ticket.

If the credit card owner is not part of the travelling party and is unable to present the credit card used, PAL also reserves the right to require the presentation of clear photocopies of the front of the credit card and the valid PHOTO ID of the credit card owner at the ticket collection point, upon check-in and in cases of reissuance, rebooking and/or refund. It shall be the responsibility of the credit card owner to ensure that the passenger(s) comply with the requirement.

PAL reserves the right to deny boarding to passenger(s) or refuse to reissue, revalidate, rebook or refund a ticket for failure to comply with foregoing requirements.

PhilippinesPhilippine Airlines, Manila to LAX
I stand by my original recommendation of the OP scanning in the ID & credit card used for the transaction so there aren't any issues. Why roll the dice when it's unnecessary.

You can even have it just e-mailed to your sweetie and she can print off in an Internet cafe..
Jared and MayMalePhilippines2010-03-24 18:09:00
PhilippinesPhilippine Airlines, Manila to LAX
Mark,

You just need to send her a photocopy of the credit card and ID for the person who purchased the ticket. They don't care about last names, etc.. PAL does STRICTLY enforce this.

Make sure it's a clear picture of the credit card.. My Milagros told me that they complained in the airport about another passenger who didn't have a good clear photocopy.

Best regards,
-Jared

PhilippinesSt Lukes Questions
My petition arrived in Manila today (Friday) and I've received the MNL#..

I was going to see about having Milagros go take her medical next week while she has a break from school, but I wanted to confirm something.. We don't have an interview date yet and I did not receive anything in the mail just yet from the NVC.

Would she still be able to take her medical, or would that pose some sort of issue? Can she just provide a copy of the NOA2 and the NVC MNL #?

Appreciate any input.. I really just want her to go next week so she won't miss any school..

PhilippinesSt Luke's and CFO during "Holy Week"
I think they're going to be closed the Thurs & Fri of Good Friday.. I don't suspect they'll be closed for a week, since the embassy will be open that week.

Don't forget about a few extra pesos for celebratory ice cream after the interview!

My Milagro is going to St Luke's on Monday/Tuesday and I think her interview is going to be at the end of the month. And I get to go see her in May!!!

Also, ignore the post about the visa fee going up to $350 or something like that.. It hasn't happened yet..

Follow those links I sent you and you'll be fine!
Jared and MayMalePhilippines2010-03-27 18:56:00
PhilippinesBetween the NOA2 and Interview
There's a few fees...

1. CFO (Commission of Filipinos Overseas) - 400 Philippine Pesos
2. Medical at SLMEC - $213.35 USD
3. K1 Visa fee, paid at BDO - $131 USD

You might want to check out the US Embassy at Manila's site:
http://manila.usembassy.gov/

And here's a really great checklist for what your fiancee will need to bring with her to the interview:

Philippinessome last worries.....

All she needs is the MNL case number from NVC and a copy of the NOA2 and she can do the medical exam. There's a really good walk-through of St. Stuke's that is pinned here in the Philippines forum...

Yeah I had Milagros print that off, and told her to just be pushy if they don't let her take the medical exam without a packet from the NVC.. She's already memorized the MNL # (I also asked her to write it down in case she gets nervous)

I sent her some money, she used our credit card to buy a plane ticket, and I think we're good to go.. Here's hoping for a great week!
