Sorry, I need to vent here. I got a hold of him, and he was asleep, so he didn't answer before. But I miss him so much, I know it's only been a month, but I have 7-8 more to go, and I remember last time waiting to see eachother made me and him super depressed. He isn't the type who wants to talk about it, he instead tries to hide it, and it makes him super tired all the time, and it makes me not be able to focus on living life normally. I promised myself that I wouldn't let it happen again, but missing him is so painful sometimes, and the fact that he's miserable over there and I can't do anything about it makes me feel even worse. This morning he was still tired, and I told him to call me when he's more awake. But I miss him so much and I don't know how to handle it alone. I have to be strong for him because he's the weaker one, but I feel like I'm not that strong after all. :(

He can only use a cellphone...:( I'm worried because I told him I would call at 1AM his time, and he won't pick up, so I don't know if it's him or skype, because I heard skype was down today (which means he's going to be mad at me too)

Niing, what a great idea! We met online back in the summer of 2009 and started out as good friends. From there things kept progressing until we officially became a couple in early 2010. Traveled out to the Philippines 4 times, am planning for a 5th trip this August/September and hoping that the 6th is where we travel to the states together!!! :D

For now, we have the old school way of communicating- Skype & YM :bonk:

-ethasuh

Seems like Skype is the cheapest way so far, isn't it?

Especially since Ice (my fiance) doesn't have internet.

Also, the Dallas lockbox received it today....I hope NOA1 comes soon!

If I sent the package on the 19th, when should I expect a NOA1 text?? Monday?

Also, let's get to know eachother here! I see the other threads seem to be bonding, so why don't we start now?

How did you meet your fiance or fiancee? :D

For me, it was in my first year of college and he was a study abroad student from Thailand. We were in the same international awareness club. I liked those types of groups because I am half-filipino.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresI-864 DENIAL..Affidavit of Support

Pushbrk is right here- the CO has discretion to allow even $1 over, but they can also disallow it. It will depend on the totality of the circumstances. For example- recent graduate USC in first job, beneficiary also with a good education and likely to be able to get a job will probably get approved. Petitioner in a dead-end job and a spotty work history, with older beneficiary close to retirement age? Less likely to be approved.

I am about to file AOS for my husband. My income is over by 4,800, but the last 3 years tax returns are way lower. I just graduated college with associate's and I'm now a GM at a hotel. Can they deny me?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresproof of relationship

This subject gets kicked around quite a bit on vj. Apparently there is some debate as to how much proof is required, and it depends on where you are interviewing. In the Embassy at Kiev, Ukraine where we interviewed, none of that stuff was necessary. For the petition itself, call and email/skype logs are not really considered substantive proof. Lots of folks send it anyway - the logic being more proof is always better. Post on your regional sub-forum and ask about the interview at the embassy (in China, right?) where you will be.

I don't think that any particular conversation works better than others though.

Why doesn't call logs and skype call logs count as evidence? Mostly we only talk through skype calling because it is the cheapest way to stay in touch.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresJust starting
I just got back from my fiance's country, Thailand, and now I've begun to get the petition ready, but I'm so confused in spite of all the resources on this forum.

1.) Where do I send the pack to? I live in PA

2.) After I send it in, what happens? Is there more forms that we have to fill out while we're waiting for it to be approved?

3.) What does it mean when you get your NOA1 and 2? Are there things you must do when you get them?

4.) At what point in time must you show how much money you make? And how?

Sorry if these are stupid questions, but I can't find it by searching so far. Thank you everyone for always being so helpful!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFiance's family
My fiance's family is kind of messed up and the only ones he has left is his grandparents, who are kind of insane. Because of this, they don't know much about me, including that we're getting married. They just know of me. Should I mention any of this in my petition or at the interview? How are we going to explain it if they ask?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresMoney Problems
@m+p: Thank you, that makes me feel a little better ^_^

I know I might be naive, but I have a vision. I want to take my business further and have real life experience. For now, some jobs will secure you money. But my major is HLA (Humanities, language, arts) and I wanted to be in magazine journalism. That industry is dying and moving to online. And I don't want to work for money. I'll stand a few years of being broke for building something that can turn into freedom. I know so many people who graduated and are still in low-paying jobs that they hate. Or people who have nice-paying jobs, but no time. There are also many people who I know who were laid off in the recent years and have not recovered. Of course, we can wait. But I literally have nothing to lose at this point. I want to have a goal, something that I will work for, that he will be here by next year. I can't go see him again. If I do that, it will put us back even further. I know I have to be realistic, but I want to push myself to be unrealistic, or I'll be stuck unhappy forever.

Me and him, aside from some help from my parents by housing me, are pretty much alone in this.

My two regular jobs are pretty good pay, so I think that if I step it up, I should be ok.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresMoney Problems
Thank you so much for your answers.

How can I know how much I would need to make monthly or in pay stubs? Is there a website for that?

We will be fine if we have to wait... but we're the type of people were together constantly when he was in the US, on the phone all the time when he was in Thailand, and we didn't leave eachother's side when I was in Thailand. We're very clingy and dependent on eachother. I'd rather be poor but with him here. We were poor in Thailand and we were ok for 3 months budgeting on a small amount of money. Being apart hurts much more.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresMoney Problems
My fiance and I are a young couple.

We met in college when he was an international student, on an F-1 visa. His sponsor, a lady who knew his grandparents, was not able to pay last August, so his visa expired, and he was forced to move back to Thailand, although his original plan was to live permanently in the United States.

I am 20 years old, in second year of college and still living with my parents, but strongly want to get married soon. I am mentally ready to live and work on my own, but due to the circumstances, I cannot for at least another 8 months.

My fiance lives in Thailand, he is 21, and he lives with his grandparents. He has no parents because they abandoned him as a child . He has a job at a retail store, but that does not count for the I-134.

Recently, I just came back from a 3 month trip to his home in Thailand, where we rented out an apartment together. As some of you might know, it's very cheap to live there, so I only had to work for about 6 months to be able to pay for rent, utilities, and food and extras.

I hold a retail job, and I'm getting another job, plus I'm starting in a business ownership, but somehow I still am worried about the money support situation. I'm getting my petition ready to send in, just a few more things to organize, but then after that, I'm not sure how long I have to show that I can make enough money annually.

I know the poverty line for two people is a bit over 18,000 per year. I made about 10,000 working part time last year. I know I can make double that if I go full time, but I've already lost part of the year visiting and becoming engaged to my honey, and I believe that it was very important that I went to visit.

I want him to come here as soon as possible. We waited 7 months to be together last year because he was in Thailand and I was in the USA. It's very painful and tiring, as you all probably understand. We are willing to do whatever it takes to be together again, even if I have to work constantly.

My parents want me to finish school this fall, but I don't see how I can make enough money if I have to finish school. That would be full time retail job, full time network marketing, and full time school (6 classes). I am not sure what to do about work and school.

His grandparents do not treat him well, but because of his money situation, he has to stay with them. He only makes about 5 dollars a day, and he's also going to school.

I hear everyone's stories, and they are very inspiring, but I am getting the feeling that a lot of you are older or have the option of having a sponsor. For some reason, the Bangkok immigration embassy does not permit sponsors. I heard that on the forum here, correct me if I am wrong.

I just got back from Thailand three days ago, I'm horribly stressed, and he's falling into a deep depression now that he's back at his grandparents' house. It's a sadness that makes you not be able to breathe. And to top that, we both have money problems.

But my main concern is that I will not be able to make enough to be over the poverty line and they will decline our petition. I am young, still with parents, and have no savings. Any suggestions? Anyone who's been through/going through this type of problem?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWhich service center should I send it to?
I am filing the petition for a Thai citizen, I live in PA, and I was wondering which of these (California, Vermont, or Texas) service centers is the preferred or known to be faster for processing. Who should I send it to?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresthe first step?
I have been told that they will mostly base it off of your last three pay stubs. More of what you will be making at the time rather than what you have made before.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresDo I need a K-1?
Probably if you're not planning on living in the US right now, you wouldn't have to. If you planned on living here in the future, wouldn't you file for a CR-1 Visa? (at the time you decide to move to the US)
