ThailandRepost: Thailand question
They will do anything to keep him from leaving. If they say it is a fraud, can we disprove it? And also, could they bribe the government with money to force him to stay there?

ThailandRepost: Thailand question
My fiance has a really messed up controlling family. If they find out that he is leaving, it may be over for us. My question is: Can his grandparents legally screw up this process? He is 21 years old, but he lives with them and they have connections to the government. Also, would it be a bad idea to warn the government that will try to ruin our case if they do find out? Would the government look down on this?

My family is 100% behind me, but his would not approve of anyone for him.

They do now. That is how you get packet 4/interview date and time. Ni-ing, any word yet on the interview date? How is Ice? Is he feeling better?

Ice's flooding situation isn't great...he and the owner of the apartment are the only ones living in that area now. Ha. But he is surviving.

Skylane got an interview date, but we still haven't heard anything yet. I called the DOS and they said we should expect something near the end of this month or early Dec. Kind of depressing. Ice might have to spend new years in a flooded apartment by himself. :(

Make sure you bring all your originals and copies of them as well. Bring plenty of pictures, receipts and chat logs. Remember to be confident (not errogant), respectful, and truthful.

Is there anything in particular that will help/hurt us in the interview? We want to be prepared. We're reading the embassy reviews, too.

ThailandThailand Thread

Most likely. Also remember Also remember the embassy is closed on thai holidays and american holidays so they will be closed thanksgiving.

How far away is Ice's apartment from the airport? When Pui lived in thailand she lived off of latkrabang road. She lived close to the airport about a 10 minute drive to the airport. What she did was walked to a place where they had van that took people to the bus station and from there took a bus to the airport and from there you can get on the airport link into bangkok if needed.

I dunno how far he is, but there is only one restaurant, and it's near the highway and in the jungle apparently. He has been using taxi to go to the market and buy food. He said it kind of feels like prison

Anyhow, I really hope that despite all of their breaks, we'll be together for Christmas. This is all very discouraging, especially since we got stuff done so quickly after NOA2. <_< We have paid the visa fee, done the medical, gave them packet three- all within like three days. Mostly I just hate seeing him depressed. And now he's more isolated. I hope he finds things to do out there. :clock:

They said 8-10 weeks for interview date from the time that we sent packet 3. We sent it Oct 1. That means Dec, right?

BTW Ice moved to an apartment called Suchavadi House, and it's in the middle of nowhere and I feel really bad. No heated water, squat toilet, nowhere to dry clothes, nowhere to go during the day cause it's in the jungle....and he has to walk really far to get to the train station. :(

Yes, he would receive a packet 4 via snail mail adn via email.

Okay well I hope they respond to our email to let us know that they got the address chance. Communication with the embassy is really frustrating!!!
NiingsongFemaleThailand2011-10-10 23:59:00
ThailandThailand Thread

It seems like he is only moving to Bangkok to accomodate the visa process. I would not consider this a permanent move. If that is the case, I would not change the address at this stage in the visa process. If you alreadyreceived and sent the packet 3 back, I wouldn't worry about it. You would be notified via email with the interview invitation letter. If they issue his visa, he will be able to pick it up in person a few days after it has been approved. He shouldn't be getting any additional mail correspondence. But if you insist in on changing your address with the embassy. Contact them via email the same way I showed you before.

So they won't send him any packet 4 by snail mail? He doesn't want his family to see it.

It's pretty amazing all of the languages the test is available in in California (written and audio):

Besides English, the basic Class C written driver license exam is also available in the following languages:
Amharic, Arabic, Armenian, Cambodian, Chinese, Croatian, French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Hindi, Hmong, Hungarian, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Laotian, Persian/Farsi, Polish, Portuguese, Punjabi, Romanian, Russian, Samoan, Spanish, Tagalog/Filipino, Thai, Tongan, Turkish, and Vietnamese.

Besides English, the basic Class C audio driver license exam is also available in the following languages:
Armenian, Chinese/Mandarin, Hindi, Hmong, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Punjabi, Russian, Spanish, and Vietnamese

Now if only the driver license handbook was in Thai (it's in 9 languages: English, Armenian, Chinese, Korean, Punjabi, Russian, Spanish, Tagalog and Vietnamese)!

In Bangkok, we rented a room w/bathroom and balcony for 3,500 baht. Plus internet was (optinal) 300 baht. Electric (our use with A/C) 900 baht. water (our use) 100 baht. The apartments are in Lad Prao. If you are interested. I can give you the address.

3,500 per month is pretty good! How was the noise at night?

Sure, that would be great. I'm considering moving my fiance to BKK in November.

I'm looking for some apartments in the 4,000 baht per month range, either in Chiang Mai or the outskirts of BKK.

While I am waiting for a responce from some people who have apartments, I looked up Airport Residence Chiang Mai Apartments. I saw a mix of good and bad reviews. Does anyone know about the noise in that area? I just don't want it to be like last time when I went to Chiang Mai and our apartment was right next to a night club and we couldn't go to sleep until 2AM.

I figured I should check out the outskirts of BKK too because he has to go there for the interview eventually anyway. But I don't know if there are any places that are nice and only 4,000 baht per month. :/

Thanks so much! This helps a lot!

But why will they not mail it to him? That is kind of annoying....how much do you think he will "pay" them to mail it? >_<

Also, in the list of things to bring, it says "2x2 in photos." That is required? The photos he has are 1x 1.5 in
