If you read the receipt notice, bottom paragraph, it says words to the effect of once you receive the ASC appointment notice you can check the status online. I don't know how many of us read the entire thing though :P

Glad it works now :)

Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussionthe worst has happend!! please help...

Couple of things.

Make a police report if you haven't already. Report her passport stolen to her countries embassy. She will need to get a new one and they'll probably put an alert on her current one. Report her SSN stolen to the SSA and consider putting a fraud alert on her credit because it sounds like they have everything they need to steal her identity. Go to the local SSA and get another one issued. I'm not sure what they'll need so ask (hopefully the NOA1 extension letter is enough). I'm sure you have the number or hopefully a copy somewhere so you'll be able to file taxes.

Report her GC stolen to USCIS. DO NOT apply for a new greencard. You will need to pay for it, and there's no need for it because you submitted copies with your ROC application and it's not needed to process her ROC.

Her permit is sufficient for ID purposes but if you're concerned go in and ask about getting a State ID issued. Please re-read the biometrics letter. It DOES NOT require the GC and instead just says ID.

Perfact.......

Did you got ur Social security card? If not , then you need to go SSA office and apply it . That's it , you don't need to do anything else after that. Please let us know that what is the expiration date on your GC? Based on that we will find out that whether you are IR or CR & we will guide you accordingly for future process.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionCan I change my last name?

How about wait until you are ready to file N-400 and THEN do a change of name (including last name)? The one time that it can be done as packet-deal.

This idea looks good. Before ROC , i decided to change my name in the future N-400 process. Because that one is the main one.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionToo much evidence? Bank statements...

My wife and I have had joint checking and savings accounts since before we were even married in 2010. So, I have nearly 3 years of statements showing joint ownership and use of the bank accounts.

I'm getting ready to send off the I-751. I have probably 30 pages of good "other" evidence...tax returns, warranty deeds, insurance etc. but I printed over 200 pages of bank statements...one statement for each month since we are married. To be honest the package looks a bit ridiculous and I'm wondering if the officer will be annoyed that our package is so huge. Should I just send one statement per quarter for the last 2 years instead of one for every month for the last 36 months?

That looks a huge Package. You dont need to send statements for each month. Just select some random months from begining to now. Like any 3 months from each year(2010,2011,2012).

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionSo what happens if Examiner rejects us again?

You will not typically be RFE'd for the same thing. So if you fail to reply you do face a denial. By that time her card would usually be very expired. You would have the choice of appealing (in most cases), or you'll need to file AOS all over again. Bearing in mind her AOS would result in a 10 year card and you'd need evidence similar to ROC given the length of your marriage.

The risk of deportation is there but unless you're seriously lacking evidence I wouldn't worry. Send copies of the documents you sent in the first time. Some people postulate that these RFE's are because people sent it TOO much information, had it poorly organised, or the officer needed more time/their quota was low so they pumped through some files issuing RFE's to make it look like they were working hard. That or your file had a red flag or 2 already so they just want a little extra evidence OR they're training someone. You'll never really know.

Try not to stress. I know it's hard not to.

Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussionjust done i751 interview...
Thanks for posting your interview experience.

My interview lasted more than 45 mins. The interviewer was very thorough.
He was very detailed about our apartment. Our travel history, employment etc.
Basically he asked about every detail of out relationship. He even took our phone and looked at all our pictures.
My wife has tattoos so he asked how many she had and I had to describe every one.
He asked when was the last time we traveled, then he took our passports to confirm.
My wife moved in with me so he grill her about the apartment; bathroom, kitchen, bedroom, alternate side parking etc.
When we though the interview was finished, he asked our lawyer to sit in between us and he conducted a stokes interview, He handed us clipboards, heas asked about 20 question and we had to write the answers down.

Believe me it was intense. alot more intense than I would have expected.

My advise to you is to be prepared for everything.

Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussionjust done i751 interview...

Well I just finished i751 interview. I sent i751 file in august 2012. I was asked for more rfe then I replied and got the letter for interview. The interview went well they asked me to wait outside and asked my wife questions. After that she asked me to come in and asked the same questions. I answered everthing correctly. But she asked me to bring my bank statement and my wife bank statement. I dropped it off that day. Before I left I asked her if my case ok. She smiled and shook her head up and down. My question is
1. How long do I have to wait for response?
2. Will they send notification letter first or they will send the GC first?
Thank you

I just completed my I751 Interview a few hours ago. I have the same answers as you. The interviewer said he was happy with the interview, but didnt hint at and approval or denial.

Guys, can you plz share your interview questions here. I have interview on 9/26 in Philadelphia. I will greatly appreciate it. Thanks.

Plz let us know that how was interview and all interview questions. So it can help to other people.

A very very good luck for ur interview.

My wife and I filed the i751 and we got asked to submit further proof. We did and they sent us the interview form to the Baltimore office for next Tuesday. We were also in the moving process and seem to have lost the original interview paper telling us where to be and at what time; we do, however, have a copy. HELP! Do we need the original for the interview? Any advice? Will the copy be enough? oops8rh.gif

Is it $2 when you transfer into the account or when she takes cash out, or both?

There will be an initial $12 set-up fee to sink-it to a bank account.
$2 for every transfer into her account. (They waive the transfer fee if you have an account at one of the 3 sponsored banks)
I think one free ATM withdraw each week, and then $1.50 after that.
I'm not sure the fees on visa point-of-sale, probably the normal 1-percent fee for transactions in a foreign country.

Hey BJZags,
I've been watching hoping for your visa delivery.... Any news at all yet?
Good luck,
Mike

As of friday morning Manila time, no news. "Almost approved" just waiting on document varification I've been told. (kind of like being almost-pregnant) Must be a busy morning at the embassy because I can't seem to get through. But I've heard that the filipina operator is only reading what little "notes" the CO puts in the system as he/she works, and you'll likely see the good news on Delbros web page before x5184 knows. But, at the very least I check to ensure they are "working" the case and it hasn't simply been re-shelved and forgotten.

Can anyone recommend a service like a pre-paid MasterCard or something that I can send my wife? Western Union is robbing me! I want a service that I can transfer money online to and she will have immediate access to the money in the Philippines.
Thanks

www.visabuxx.com -- $2 transfer fee, regardless of amount. You'll have to fib and say she is your "teenage child" on the application. Works well for my fiancee.

Where can we get the REAL requirements for CFO, Medical Exam, and Interview? Please don't list a another experience, I'm getting dizzy reading them and trying to figure out which is right.

LOL. The REAL requirements are probably found by clicking on the links in Uling's signature for the government agency web sites and determine the requirements as they apply to you. That's what I did, and then read the experiences to see if they matched-up with what I understood after reading the mumbo-jumbo on the web pages. But then I'm on AR, so maybe me and the three other lawyers that went over our application don't know squat.

hey jelloshot! NBI clearances are good for a year. it's the police clearance that expires in a month so if he plans to bring one along with him (they didnt ask for boytoy's) then make sure he gets maybe a week or two prior to the interview.

Not sure your satement that NBI expires in a month is correct. Printed on Jenalyn's NBI it says: "valid for one year from date of issue." Perhaps you know of an internal USE requirment that is different than NBI's expiration date. I know ours was dated within 3-weeks of the interview, so who knows if thats one of the documents the frigg'n bums at the embassy are "varifying" a process that seems to be taking FOREVER.

Glenn, Hotel can get expensive and there is no guarentee she will not go into AR and it take longer than expected to get her Visa. That said, are you prepared for the cost if it takes 2-3 weeks after the interview, for hotel and spending money?

If you do chose to go this route and put her in a hotel until the visa is in-hand, check out PhilBill an American who owns a hotel/dorm place in Pasay near the airport. I'm not sure the exact web page, but if you google PhilBill (and Lorna his wife) I'm sure you can find all the info you need. The price is right, and the owner might have some insight into the process she is going through.

Thanks for the the info, but I'm pretty sure its Lorraine I've talked to each time I've called. I guess my only hope at finding-out specifics will come through my congressman's office upon his request to the USE for the particulars. Has anyone who has called the USE ever had success actually speaking to an American who actually deals with the case files? Because everytime I call to inquire on the status of our case on the 5184 extension, I get the same filipina who reads the same computer-screen info, and asks the same questions that could easily be answered by reading the DS-156K form that my fiancee filled-out for the interview. The dis-organization or downright incompetence of my government's agencies sometimes stuns me.

Hi guys,

I have a question about tracking the visa. I checked the Delbros site and this is what I got:
12/11/2006 2:38:45 PM SHIPMENT PROCESS IN THE EMBASSY

Does that mean that the visa has been released to Delbros?

Nope, I think that just means that your girl has paid the delbros fee and she is in their computer system. Our status says the same dated Dec 5 (day of the interview) and we are waiting "routine checks." Hopefully you will see another update on the delbros site soon.
BJZagsMalePhilippines2006-12-11 21:57:00

Would they tell you why? Is it the "late registered" BC?

Nope, they won't say ANYTHING. Maybe my congressman can get the specifics. There was no indication it was the BC, because they did not care to see any supplemental info we had in that regard. In fact, Jenalyn did not receive a 221(g) slip stating grounds for delay, only thing she received was pink-slip for payment of Delbros. At window 37, Jenalyn asks if everything is "OK" and the lady nods her head and said everything is "fine."

a friend of a friend met a girl over the internet, went to the Philippines many times this year and is planning to do K1. however, he said that his lawyer had adviced him to not mention how they met as it would cause delays and complications. i told him that, in my opinion...and from what i've seen with other couples who met through the internet...telling them exactly how you met is not really an issue. lying about it would be a big issue instead.

they haven't filed anything yet...just gathering documents...(i almost wanted to offer up my help but since they already hired the attorney...i didn't say anymore. i did tell him to checkout VJ.com though.) is there anything else i should tell him to help him out?

I'd tell him to gather as much information as he can glean from the internet and other sources so that he is educated on the immigration process, especially specifically as it applies to the Phil. This info can be used to "double-check" the work of the lawyer. Some immigration lawyers are totally up-to speed on specific embassy procedures, but others are not. While the law is quite cut-and-dried, unfortunately the process through different embassies can often be very different. Unless a lawyer is very familiar with K1 through USE in Manila, he/she could easily miss an important detail. I'd agree with you and tell the "whole truth" about the meeting. Its always easier to explain the truth, rather then explain a lie later.

For what its worth on the whole BC-gate. Jenalyn had a "late registered" BC, registered in 1997 (she was born 1979). The NSO "official" copy she brought to her interview was requested three if not four years ago. It was an old copy, folded, and even whole-punched on the top, and they accepted it. I just don't want anyone to get a false-sense of security with multiple copies and newly requested BC from NSO. I think there is just "NO REASON" for AR sometimes. It sucks, but that just seems to be the way of things in Manila.

yup, seems very arbitrary on the AR's at manila. i was thinking, knowing how bureaucrats can be sometimes, that some CO's there are so by the book that they are afraid to make a decision on their own, so just put it on AR to pass the buck. That's why i thot abt the authenticating of the documents. I'm not sure what it really means, but sometimes all a bureaucrat needs is that extra official paper with the seal and ribbon and stamp to make the official document even more official. like i said in earlier post, i have no clue if that would help cut down on AR's, but it can't hurt to try.

Because of the "late registered" we had other supporting documents proving her identity such as baptismal certificate, school ID, and the local registrar BC in case they doubted the BC. I'd read on the old ASAWA forum that "late registered" plus baptismal = OK. But in our case they did not even accept the other documents through the cubby-hole much less look at them. Whether that is because it is SOP or just luck-of-the-draw, I couldn't tell you.

BJZags - Congrats once again my brotha! What's funny is that the Customs Officer asked three times more questions than the pre-interviewer and the consular officer combined. LOL!

My buddy who's fiancee came through Chicago about 3-months ago said the same thing. So I'm preparing Jen to expect possible questions from Customs and Immigration also at the airport. Though I have heard Detroit as a POE is pretty tame. Jen also said that the CO was a young white dude who was kinda cute. After NVC receives it, they will send you letter stating they have received it and it will be mailed to the embassy within X number of days. In our case I think they said 14 days.

Some details about Jen's recent interview:

1. Interview time was 7:30 but not see CO until 10:00 -- so vast majority is standing in line.
2. Actual interview maybe five minutes.
3. In-take lady requests: BC, Cenomar, NBI, Affidav. Support and 8 pics. That's all. Not even BC of her son.
4. Late registered BC no problem, we had baptismal, school ID etc., but they did not want it.
5. Tricky Interview ques: "where did ur fiancee spend thanksgiving and what did he have for dinner that day?"
6. After interview: purple paper with "K1-Visa approved".

That's it guys, sort of anti-climatic if you ask me. All the pages of chat, and letters and phone records, etc. etc. not even requested much less looked at.

Hope everyone has such an "easy" experience at their interview.
